    I was surprised, too, but that's what the readout on the pump said. Can't say if it actually registered at that since my car doesn't take reg.

    I noticed SEVERAL truck stops where the diesel was 45-50 cents higher than RUG.

    Can't recall another trip recently when the difference was THAT high.

    What gives, diesel fans?

    It's a Communist Plot. :shades:

    Diesel just under Premium unleaded here in San Diego. Averaging about 18 cents over RUG which is around $3.20.

    Shell stations in Central New Jersey where I live have been hovering around the following now since the holidays:

    87: $2.95
    89: $3.13
    93: $3.23
  • jae5jae5 Member Posts: 1,206
    Last night's fill-up was for $3.15/gal for 87 octane at the usual place; everyone else has been running in the $3.25 range, with a couple places on the way to work at $3.19. Been holding steady at these prices since the week before Christmas. Chicago is somewhat higher.

    Can definitely tell we are in “winter-blend” season as my mileage has dropped accordingly since November. Taking into account running slightly longer in open-loop, the weather hasn’t been really, really cold yet to cause that much of a drop in mileage alone.

    Looking over my records, the 2010 prices mimicked the prices and trend of 2007 – 2008, which I still say was the test to see how high and quickly prices could be raised before people would crash & burn. Anyway, if this current trend holds I’m thinking $4 this late spring.

    Jersey shore - That station with the $2.999 gas has officially broken the $3 mark at $3.01.

    The places I normally go are $2.95 now.

    Yeah, you can tell it's winter all right. Big drop in mileage which is really bad on a car that already likes gas way too much.

    Paid $3.49 for premium today at Chevron, ARCO was only 5 cents less.

    Wow, getting up there. I didn't fill up recently but the local stations are at $3.25 now for regular.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
    Another couple of cents down to $3.15 smack in the middle of PA

    Waiting for the snow effect :sick:
  • jae5jae5 Member Posts: 1,206
    Luckily the regular place was for the same $3.15 - did I really say LUCKILY? Due to the weather yesterday I was going to try my backup as the roads were plowed better, they're usually the same as my main station - nope, $3.20.

    Yeah fezo, it totaly stinks with the winter blend. To match / come close to my summer mileage I REALLY have to pet the vehicle. And I can tell it doesn't like this extra watered-down stuff, it's like WTH is this crap?!? I asked for Sam Adams, not this Miller High Life mess :P . I miss the days of "real" gas.

    What's the members thoughts of fuel prices in spring? Summer?

    A number o stations here in Happy Valley bumped up a dime to $3.25, but several have stuck with $3.15, while one went to $3.29
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    ...at the Sunoco on Rising Sun and Longshore in NE Philly:

    RUG = $3.13
    Plus = $3.23
    Ultra = $3.33

    Elsewhere:

    RUG = $3.11
    Plus = $3.21
    Ultra = $3.31

    Paid $2.999 today in Phoenix - highest I've paid since Oct 2008.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Curiously our $3.01 Lukoil has not reopened after the snowfall. That was yesterday and everyone else is dug out. not a sign of life there. At least their price hasn't gone up....

    Everyone else is hovering around $2.95.

    Does they still pump your gas at your NE location fezo? Or are youse guys Self Service.

    We're running between $2.95 and $2.99 here in W. Ga. for 87 octane.

    Higher octane grades cost increments of +20 cents more now.

    Back in year 2000 we was paying only $1.17 for regular. :)

    I'd say the price of gas should level or come down a tad soon due to decreased demand during snow and ice periods here and else where...plus recent price increases.
  • larsblarsb Member Posts: 8,204
    Heck, in Dec 2008 I paid $1.539 in El Paso TX.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Here in NJ we still have guys pump the gas for you.

    Most of the time this seems silly to me. In Winter it's more of a God given right!

    Flip your numbers and you'll get what I paid in Dec 2008 in Toms River, NJ (near fezo) -- $1.359/gal! I'm keeping the receipt as a souvenir.

    Wilcox,

    How'd you make out the earlier part of the week with the weather? My family down there in GA. & Tenn. were home-bound for a couple of days. And I read that stores are running low on supplies.

    The few times like that don't make me miss home but then I remember: I have to deal with that crap EVERY year here, not just once in awhile :sick:

    Mount Arlington Exxon, Mt. A - they tend to be on the high side thanks to no competition (only station at the off-ramps from I-80)...

    87 - 3.099/3.159
    89 - 3.279/3.339
    93 - 3.449/3.509
    diesel - 3.849 (no cash discount)

    Just took in 27.585 gallons of diesel for $106.17.

    Last fill-up was for $3.08 at the normal spot, others had prices of $3.13 ~ $3.29, but then settled to $3.19 on average. Over the weekend was in the city doing a kitchen demo and prices ranged from $3.39 - $3.59

    Yesterday afternoon on the commute home from regular job I saw prices at the Shells increased back to $3.29. This morning some of the prices at the Shells and Speedways were either $3.29 or $3.39. Guess between the speculation bandwagon of demand here & in China, strong economy, Egypt unrest (which is the weakest excuse yet) and "Da Blizzard 2011" the prices had to spike.

    Got some Monday for $3.29 but later that day saw some for $3.09. Go figure. In San Juan PR this week and it's .79/.80 a liter most places for regular.

    WHy are they selling liters in Puerto Rico? Don't they know they are part if the US?....

    Being an unincorporated territory, I guess they get to pick and choose the best parts. Could be worse, since the Imperial system is the other option here, although speed limits are in mph.
  • fezofezo Member Posts: 10,386
    Yeah, it's funny down there. They are part of the US in some ways and their own thing in others.

    My one experience in the Caribbean was in Tortola in the BVI. Funny stuff. The official currency is the US dollar mostly because they figured that's what everyone had. They drive on the left but every car I saw there had the steering wheel on the left.

    After several weeks at $3.15 for RUG, Costco jumped to $3.24 per gallon. Looks like the colder parts of the USA are using up all the diesel (heating oil). Best price around here is $3.50 per gallon. I would hate to be heating with oil. I know my little farm house in MN would go through about 5 gallons a day when the temps dipped below zero. That was much of the winter.
  • 210delray210delray Member Posts: 4,721
    RUG hasn't been able to consistently break the $3.00 level. It's been stuck at $2.999 at several places for weeks now.

    There is a mini price war in my town where Sam's Club and a car wash with unbranded gas are duking it out at $2.84.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
    Sunoco at Rising Sun and Longshore in NE Philly:

    RUG = $3.11
    Plus = $3.21
    Ultra = $3.33

    We've slipped to $3.15 for no apparent reason... not that I'm gonna complain about ANY move in that direction
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    The price of oil has dropped a bit. OPEC is back down to $96. WTI is at $86. I don't think we will ever see $2 gas again.
  • motorcity6motorcity6 Member Posts: 427
    Passed a Mobil on the way to the beach, Reg $3.03, Prem,$3.25... Shell is at $3.15, regular, and noticed the Sunoco, Premium was at $3.39.. The cut-rate station Rac-trac is at $3.16 regular..probably at 3.50 for premium..junk gas...However Marlboros are priced right..

    I usually buy Shell due the 5%+ discount, however they are beginning to become somewhat pricey, using mid-grade in 1 car and regular in the other two..Will probably go with the Mobil premium next fill-up..

    Shell has some new restrictions on the discount whereas the rebate is applied when the rebate amount reaches $25.00, and if you continue to buy every month, late payments cancels the program along with any rebates earned..SOL.....They were applying the rebates monthly earned from the previous month..So they are forcing one to buy $500 worth of gas or any goodies at the Shell station before they deduct the rebate from the current billing..So I shall give them at least 1 gas buy monthly to keep the game alive..Probably they will increase the limit to $50.00 before rebate is deducted..Sounds like a good banking decision..Some corporate clown is trying to eliminate the program .

    We are fluctuating around the $3 mark - mostly staying under it. My regualr Sunoco station is at $2.97 today.

    Back from the beach and noticed Race-Trac lowered their regular price from $3.16 to $3.06, cheap gas didn't sell too well at the upper end..Shell still at $3.16 and Mobil is still the buy at $3.03 to 3.25..Noticed Sunoco had clipped their prices back on premium to $3.39-making the spread between the low end to the top at $0.33...

    In Michigan, my broker said the premium was @$3.50...yep he drives a foreign car...A8...
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    I kind of expected when the oil prices settled back down the price of gas would follow. Filled the Sequoia first time since October yesterday. Price at Costco $3.33 for RUG. Highest price since October 2008.
  • larsblarsb Member Posts: 8,204
    Saw a $3.21 in PHX today. Highest since October 2008, same as Gary said about his area.

    WTH?
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
    But I'm seeing reports of $3.62 and the price of oil is going up.

    I'm afraid to check this morning.
  • jae5jae5 Member Posts: 1,206
    Saw prices increase yesterday at most stations to $3.35(9) for RUG on my home - work - home route. Luckily my normal station was $3.13(9), same as last week.

    Funny thing is there are 3 Shell stations very near to me (2 ~ 4 miles) and two were for $3.35 and the third near my regular station was $3.18. Each one is in a different county with one of the $3.35(9) stations in my county.

    From reading yesterday's news the cheerleaders are already pumped up for $4 petrol and higher oil trading.
  • motorcity6motorcity6 Member Posts: 427
    Ardent Shell fan due to discounts, however when I filled up last Thursday it was at Mobil..Mid-grade was $3.219, and the mileage seems to be identical to Shell mid-grade in the S/C Pontiac..At the Venice Island Shell station the pricing for reg was $3.22---cash..Thieves to say the least..

    This week I will visit my regular Shell station and overpay a nickel, however, the 5% discount will throw in another dime+ discount..

    Most of the Shell stations in this area are under the banner of "Circle K", and I assume the stand-alone Circle K station gets the same gas as "Circle K" under the Shell banner..

    Drill----Drill----oops I forgot, our regime doesn't like "Big Oil".....Hope the public wises up soon..
  • jae5jae5 Member Posts: 1,206
    of 4 cents to $3.40 for 87 octane at the stations on my route. I couldn't make out the sign of the station near me that sells E85 but a week or so ago E85 was priced at $3 and their regular fuel was $3.25 or so. The price difference used to be at least 50 cents.
  • gagricegagrice Member Posts: 31,450
    My local Shell station is now at $3.64 for RUG and $3.99 for diesel.

    Some of the $3.40 RUG stations are now at $3.45, with a some (two Shells, a Gas City, Speedway) posting $3.50. I figure the rest will go up to $3.50 by tomorrow or Saturday.

    The Gas City is the station near me that sells E85 and it's going for $3.15

    We're gaining on you Gagrice & Steve :sick:

    to $3.56 across the board pretty much. The Gas City increased their E85 to $3.26 in step with their RUG increase.

    There is a standout Mobil station still at $3.46 but not sure how long that will last - their diesel price is @ $3.59.

    Did we time-warp back to spring 2008?
