Hi,
2024 subaru crosstrek, thank you Resid and Mf . Dealer agreed!
No car on lot- ordering- - being I am at end of month rates can change Sept 1. Ordering vehicle- exactly 1 month????? Fishy?????

They want $1,000 deposit over phone..to hold car- I said - NO - all can change in Sept - by time car here-Even be delayed.

REACHED OUT TO Subaru Corporate.
New mf and resid - released 1st of month.

DO YOU HAVE A PREVIEW ON SEPTEMBER MF, RESID, REBATE, INCENTIVES?
If not, when do you usually receive?

Also, why Asking for license over phone????? . I test drove already.

    Are-car sales tied to a consumer financial index???? Quotes change 7-10 dys!

    Car loaded - leather ( clean, no tears), mats, power seats and windows, moonroof, blue tooth, usb, highly maintained- oil changes, just changed both cabin and air filter and recharged air conditioning brakes fairly new, orig owners manual, wheel locks, cargo cover, flat kit, floor mats. NO smoking.

    Everything in working condition, (1 scratch from tree branch on right door)

    Regarding tires- should I put on 4 used with better tread wear- which brand or not worth it?

    Should I attempt to sell directly to Hyundai?

    I understand dealer will make approx $2,000 over private sale.

    Yes, the rates change on September 1st. No, we don't get a preview. We find out on the 1st. New programs come out monthly, but they don't always change.

    I wouldn't give a $1000 deposit, either.
    I wouldn't give my license info over the phone, either.

    I don't have any advice on selling a used car

    It doesn't make any difference what the dealer makes on selling your trade-in. All that matters is what they give you for it.

    Destination charges are not negotiable as a separate item, they are simply part of the MSRP. That bottom line number on the window sticker can be negotiated.

    What are all these ancillary fees? 717 they said the acquisition fee was 595 and they already included a 699 dock the dealer processing fee double dipping is the lemon law fee, regulated by New York State, the GHG fee regulated by New York State upfront Tax 3778 tax on upfront items, total inception fees I asked that each of these are listed separately Customer cash is cap reduction. None of the numbers are working out acquisition fee is usually $300-$400 so they’re marking it up they have a base payment of 354 and a monthly of 376 why is they are $22 a month additional in the payment

    It looks like the dealer is showing me the price of the car without and then he’s taking it on later

    There is a lot to unpack here.

    1. I agree with the $354/mo payment calculation, with the numbers on the worksheet (MSRP, Adjusted cap cost, MF and residual)
    2. The Subaru acquisition fee is $595; cannot be negotiated or waived
    3. I'm sure the other fees (GHG, lemon law) are mandated by the state of NY
    4. I was under the assumption that NY capped the dealer fee at $75, but I'm starting to see more posts with a dealer fee of hundreds of dollars, so my information may be out of date
    5. Sales tax - in NY, sales tax for a lease is calculated against the sum of the payments. This amount can eitehr be paid up front with your drive off costs, or added into the monthly payment. My guess is that the latter is happening, and would explain why the final payment is $376/mo.

    Michael - I was paying state nys taxes upfront and 1,000 down. SO pmt should BE CLOSER to $350. Not $375 - Since that always allows them to get crafty - and hide things- now I said
    1. NO MONEY Down - (plus that 1,000 is taxed- $100 tax- poor investment t decision)
    2. NO TAXES PAID UP FRONT
    I TOLD THEM TO EXPLAIN EVERY LINE ITEM

    Edmunds suggested price for 2024 Subaru cross treck (14)premium is $27,212 for zip 10509.

    I have the memo from Subaru corporate in NJ when 2914 released.
    Shows MSRP for premium $26,145 + $1,295 delivery- then I have to add $2,245 for all weather pack - total- $29,685.

    Is Edmunds above including the all weather package?????

    Adding tall wearher to MSRP it is RESIDUALIZED at 71% so if anything will cost additional $15/mo.

    ***** as I NEGOTIATE - the DEALER fee of $699- they said THEY have to SHOW, yet would reduce ———-from MSRP.

    DOES NYS MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATE DEALERS AS THE STATE OF CT DOES?
    See screen shot of sample lease I asked them to prepare
    They show they removed from MSRP- yet they added back in on other page.
    I just can’t stand how they try to undermine the consumer it is NOT FAIR- I AM AN ADVOCATE!
    Thus price was with all taxes including bank fee and $1,000 down - $376/mo

    I am NOT putting any money down NOT paying Dealer FEE ( bank fee $595 mandatory)
    I am including taxes - my payment is $364 ( INCLUDING taxes - and NO MONEY DOWN!)

    I think this might be my final question?

    1. I live in NYS However I am doing business with a CT dealer. . (See edmunds fees shown for BOTH STATES).
      ***** Ny regulates dealer fee to handles MVR tasks for me at $175 - so since I’m a NY resident, I pay $175, NOT NO LIMIT shown in CT , correct?

    BANK FEE- CT dealer charging $595 bank fee- ( chase captive).
    NY - median IS $75!
    So I can negotiate $75????? As a NY resident? Or because using CT dealer - $595- I thought this was MANDATORY - bank fee.

    Every lease has a bank (or acquisition) fee. Doesn't matter which state.

    CT dealers do not have to follow NYS regulations. They do not have to restrict their dealer fee for you.

    Consider the fee part of the selling price, and negotiate the price until you get the number you want.

    You aren't buying in NY, you're buying in CT, so the dealer follows CT regulations. One of which is that there isn't a cap on the dealer fee (it's called a "conveyance" fee there).

    If you want the lower fee, find a NY dealer that has the car you want.

    Edmunds suggested price for 2024 Subaru cross treck (14)premium is $27,212 for zip 10509.

    Is the all-weather package a dealer installed item? I'm guessing it is.

    Get a copy of the actual Monroney sticker of the vehicle.

    1. Now, how is the DEALER MSRP , yes, I’m talking in car industry terms, not invoice but MSRP for this vehicle, including delivery and freight in the whole weather package $1000 more than Subarus corporate memo released in February??????

    2. How do I know if the all weather option is residualized? I read that different finance companies can make different decisions on this.

    **** Why is this so important because they have now increased my payment to over $500 a month !!!!

    increasing my invoice cost by $2,245 for this option divided by 36 months increases my pmt by $70 a month!!!!!!

    1/5 of my whole car pmt!!!!!!
    For moonroom, power/ heated seats!!!!!
    This is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

    That add-on of $2245- they also padded.

    1. I was sent an invoice- I was told it was for my car and meanwhile the Vin was not a valid Vin!

    In addition, in the left-hand column, it shows gas port fees and supply chain hardship for a total of $155 however in the right hand column it’s a transportation and handling $1,295! . Are they marking up the delivery by $1,140??
    *** I read an article that the car manufacturers are fed up with the dealers making their own invoice/window sticker.

    They keep asking for a deposit. Meanwhile, I asked for a copy of the lease agreement and on there it states that it is a preliminary detail invoice, and as such is subject to change, I keep telling them why would I give you a deposit when everything is subject to change on the lease copy it also shows it says that the 699 dealer fee is not paid to the state of Connecticut, so it is negotiable

    Now I’m really annoyed! I think I’m gonna have to go to another dealer and start all over again

    PLEASE provide guidance.

    If the amount is on the official window sticker, then it's residualized.
    There may be items on the invoice that aren't on the window sticker.
    Invoice doesn't really matter, because you pay a negotiated selling price. The invoice is what the dealer pays Subaru. They aren't selling you the vehicle at invoice, in any event.


    Get a look at the actual window sticker. Those can't be altered. Then negotiate your selling price.

    If they have a VIN, they should be able to print it out, and email or screenshot a copy.
    But, if all they have is the copy they sent you before, then not much you can do about it.

    I'd shop around and get a look at an actual vehicle, to see what is typically on the sticker.

    Yes, the MSRP is used to calculate the residual.

    It is the bottom line number of the factory window sticker - base MSRP + Factory Options + destination charge

    Find another dealer. It only takes one who is transparent.

    They can't make up MSRPs. As you note, it's needed to calculate the residual. Maybe, visit a dealership, and see what you can see?

    If you are "calling him out", you may have been written off as more trouble than you're worth? They aren't having any trouble moving Subarus.

    This salesperson may be new.
    I feel like I am going around in circles.
    He told me he was removing $699 dealer fee, which in lease/agreement says is negotiable - and NOT paid to state of CT.
    What he did was inflate suggested MSRP by $1,000 and than decrease it by $699.
    In addition, Yesterday he told me I was unable to B lease a Subaru crosstrek premium 14 without the all weather option.
    I told him I had the Feb 2023 memo from Subaru which stated otherwise; 14 avail with Ootion all weather additional $2,235
    These 2 issues are deal breakers for me.
    I spent the majority of my life selling investments and large corporate insurance. My licenses had very large ethics components.

    (Just for seats and a moonroof).
    That’s almost 25% increase in my monthly car payment.
    Something is not calculating here?
    I can’t figure it out.
    It appears I am paying full cost for this $2,245 option.
    If I divide by 36 months it’s $62/month!
    Why is this?

    Yesterday I went to visit the dealer instead of dealing by email. I told them I was going to write all the numbers down and check them over at home because it wasn’t making sense. It seemed like it did when I was there. They asked for 200 deposit which I gave them and then I came home and none of the numbers worked out, it is $50 more a month in any lease calculator the sales manager said he wasn’t paid enough to answer my complex questions when I ask them to disclose what made up a number I felt like I was being bamboozled and now I have a intuitive feeling that I should call my bank and have the deposit canceled

    They took license to run credit- however I fear now they will try to bamboozle me with increases money factor since gave $200 deposit.
    My intuition is telling me to call my bank and have my deposit canceled. I gave them a credit card so I can find it and I never agreed to the price. In fact, there were two vehicles, the one with all weather and the one without all weather and I told him I was still deciding. What do you think I should do? I am going to visit another dealer today Reason being the Connecticut wants a $700 dealer fee and in the state of New York it’s only 170. Therefore I’ll save myself almost $500 by dealing with a New York dealer.

    Sorry, you'll have to make your own choices, but shop around, if you don't like this dealer.
