Is legroom measured differently in different years?

I am trying to find a car that has enough room for a tall person in the front and a child seat in the back.

I had assumed that a good apples-to-apples comparison would be adding up the front and rear legroom on the Edmunds comparison tool, but I am questioning that assumption.

I am having difficulty finding a 2024 vehicle that has more combined legroom than the 2019 Corolla.

What am I missing? How can I find a better comparison of legroom across different model years? Does the 2019 Corolla actually have more legroom than the 2024 Camry, Accord, Sonata, and Crown?

There are no standards. Each manufacturer can use any method they choose. I wouldn't assume anything about those figures.

Thank you. Is there any reliable way to find out which cars have a good amount of combined front and back leg room?

Other than taking your car seat and doing an in-person test, I'd say no.

That makes sense, practical experience really is the best measure. I’ll start checking out some cars in person.
