Yeah, it was a LITTLE cold, but not that bad. The sun was shining, and we had no wind to contend with. I think the temperature was in the low 30's most of the time that we were out there. Not bad at all.
Not really feeling any better yet, but might have made a little progress. I THINK I am breathing some through my nose at night now. My mouth was not as dried out this AM as it has been, and I actually think I slept a little better.

I'm in uncharted waters now. My previous record was 30 days, and after that, nothing even close. I don't think I ever made it even a week, except for that one time that I made it 30 days. I am now working on day 33.
I got the sway bar and JKS disconnects installed this weekend. What an EASY installation. My disco's are the stock to 2.5" lift, so I can lift it later if I want.
I was watching that Trucks! show on Spike and they were doing some nice mods to a TJ: Warn Winch Warn bumpers and winch protector Warn auxillary lighting (on bumper and windshield) Safari Snorkel Suspension seats (can't remember the name) Skyjacker 4" lift and 35" tires Safari Doors
Those changes were sure nice, but I didn't notice if they did any changes to the transmission mountings to lower the t-case or not (with a 4" I thought you needed to make an adjustment to the t-case or engine mounts.)
I will be going to Huntsville a week from today. My schedule doesn't let me come out any earlier, but I'll probably be going there again March 9-10. I would have loved to have had the time to hook up with Tom at TB and be a deadweight in the passenger seat. My wife wants to meet the dog that loves McDonald's.
Man, DO YOUR BEST to work it out so that you can come to see me! Are you saying that you MIGHT be able to do that March 9-10???? I hope so.
Yes, Paul, although they might not have shown that part, SOMETHING would need to be done about driveline angles in conjunction with a four inch lift. The minimum would be a T-case drop, or, they might have done a MM (motor mount) lift, like Mac mentioned a short while back. The real way to do it would be a new CV driveshaft and a slip yoke eliminator kit.
Oh, man, it would be great if we could hook up, Paul. You would be welcome to ride shotgun with me.

P.S. Some of us in Gill's chat room have been wondering what they are gonna do about the rear axle on that Jeep that got the four inch lift and 35s. It was an X model, which means it would have had the Dana 35 from the factory (you can't get a Dana 44 from the factory in an X model). It's not really a good idea to run 35s on a Dana 35, especially if it is gonna get wheeled very hard.
I thought about emailing the show to point out that additional stuff was needed, but the guy who does the show doesn't appear to be an idiot. He didn't cover the speedo recalibration or any kind of regearing, but he did mention it.
The axles I had to wonder about too.
I'll see about the 9-10 (Tuesday-Wednesday). I'd be flying on that Monday anyway, so if I left on Saturday, maybe wheel on Sunday.
I'll keep you posted as the dates get more confirmed.
Remember that the show was a showcase for the suppliers of the parts that were provided. It was an interesting program, but many many steps were skipped in the installation of virtually all the parts fitted.
Even basic stuff was missed. For instance, the Sport X has a D35 rear axle. Although this axle is much stronger than most people give it credit for, it really should have been changed or upgraded for the size of wheel/tire that was fitted. Likewise, the gearing was left stock!
Basically, it was interesting, but just a piece of fluff!
I watched the Jeep buildup on TRUCKS. I liked it when the kid got baptized in the mudhole. It made me want to take my top off and get dirty. Anyway, I have a question. My boss at work is buying a new Wrangler after a year of talking about it and, being a vietnam vet, he would like the extra $500 rebate, but he can't locate his discharge papers. Does anyone know how to get a copy if you've lost your originals? Tjray
That's an interesting web site. When I got out the personnel people told me to go to the local court house and have them recorded there. Then you could get a copy of them through the court. And now that I think about it, I have no idea where my discarge papers are!
The pics are great but you should be out in that Jeep having some fun. "teaching" your daughter the "proper" way to drive in the snow. That way of course being have as much fun as possible.
Here at work, we haven't received anything on the Unlimited, Dodge Magnum, or Chrysler 300 yet. No brochures or anything. But of course we did already get in some SWB 05 Caravans! (that was typed sarcastically)
Had my first busted headlight today. i heard a bang on the way in to work, thought a rock had hit the windshield frame or something- went to lunch, saw cracks and a nice little hole in my headlight. I went to our parts dept- he checked the price, picked up the phone, talked to someone, put down the phone- said it's $18 here or they have them at Napa for $10.
..............and of course you're fully entitled to it.
However, your understanding of market economics seems a little under developed to say the least. The price a vehicle sells for isn't based on the raw material and labor content, it's based on what the consumer will pay for it. The reasons for that are many and varied.
While you may not value it higher than $10K plenty of other people do. You're entitled to your opinion, others are entitled to theirs.
Finally, while you may have strong negative feelings about Wranglers, they don't appear to be based on any understanding of factual issues. Your last sentence, ....."What is harder to understand is how they have not changed the junk for decades....." indicates your ignorance of the many and continuing changes that Jeep has made to the Wrangler over the years.

In defense of that statement though, the Wrangler look has been very consistent for many years, going back to the original Willy's of WW2. You can look at a Wrangler and you KNOW it is a Jeep. Same can be said about the CJ, YJ, and even earlier models.
You know the Corvette looks a lot like it did when they redesigned it in 1984. Guess Chevrolet hasn't done anything to it. So it's not worth the $xx,xxx now.

I can almost agree with the whole though about how they can charge that much. When they switched from the YJ to the TJ I couldn't understand the price increase until I educated myself about the differences. If you are only looking at the surface you see some plastic trim panels, and a smoother dash. If you look into it you see the completely new suspension, transmission upgrade, and everything else they have updated.
Wont even go into the use of the word junk when referring to a Jeep.
All I have to say is I love my Amy, and I know you all love your Jeeps.
It looks like you got more snow than we did! I loved your photos. What surprised me the most is that it was snowing when I got home last night, then continued to snow all night. I think that Caltrans believed the weather report (no precipitation) because they hadn't plowed or sanded the roads today when we went to work. I'm not complaining - it was another Wrangler day! Love the excuse not to drive that Tacoma!

The forecasters are predicting a winter storm for us tonight. I'll believe it when I see it, most likely at 4:30 in the morning. This has been a really "dry" snow-year for us. To date only one small dusting. What a change from last year!!!! I wish it would snow "thigh" deep to a giraffe.
I think it snowed because my Father borrowed my Ram to drive to the other end of the state- of course my truck is what I plow with... I'll have to go with the old fashioned way- shoveling.
Congrats on the snow - can't believe that Maine has so little! So you are someone else who doesn't think much of snow shovels? Luckily our driveway is short, level and our snow level is rarely deep enough for us to have to shovel. We usually just drive out, which works fine with the Wrangler, even when there is a ridge left by the subdivision's plow. I've only gotten stuck once - I got high centered on the snow that packed up under the frame. I was trying to drive through snow above the bumper and it packed under the frame and raised it just enough to keep the tires from getting traction. That morning we called into work and waited until dawn to dig out. Loved the unexpected day off from work, and wish it would happen again soon.
Well made the jump last Saturday and bought the Sahara 2004. Noe to start getting my lil goodies to keep her safe in the city. Hood locks. Wheel locks. And an alarm for starters. Then maybe a K & N filter and.. hehehe this is as fun as my motorcycle. Her name is GRETCHEN. A name i have given to all my vehicles. Has this crush on a teacher ya see and so.....Well to all you ex smokers keep going and see how much new stuff yer gonna buy with that saved money. And to the rest well have fun the weekend is soon to be upon us and play time!! Anyone from out in Pa? looking to go to some of the off road parks out here and well will be bone stock when i go but will give me a better understanding of my ride and what she will do.

Have you checked out my Turkey Bay website? Not sure which part of PA you're in, but if by any chance you are on the western side of the state, it might not be TOO far to drive for a couple days of wheelin'. It's a really nice place to wheel, and it's big enough so that you can spend two or three days there without having to go exactly the same places each day. Check it out...
Forgot to mention it in my other post, but be careful with that K & N filter. Have read posts in other forums where people have found dust DOWNSTREAM from the filter.
I'm not talking about just a post or two. Those things are pretty controversial. They undoubtedly pass more air, but do they do it at the expense of efficiency??? Heck, if you didn't have to worry about efficiency, you could just run no filter at all.
Also, I have seen debates as to whether or not that extra air actually gets used by the engine. Some people say the computer just adjusts out the benefit of that extra air.
I'm not expert on all of that, but I DO know that the air filter has to trap dirt, and the K & N's may or may not be efficient enough. It would be worth investigating before buying one.
Congrats on the new Sahara! Don't worry about off-roading a stock Wrangler - that's what it was designed for. I bought mine with vague ideas of lifting it and putting ARB lockers on, but wanted to wait until the warranty ran out. So I started using it stock, and have found that it is great for my purposes just the way it came. So I've never bothered to do anything to it and it is still stock after almost 6 years.
Last night on my drive home I happened to bring up the total mileage (we usually keep it on trip odometer) and he's now up to 116,000 miles. Those miles are piling up quickly compared to last year!
Looks like I'll be able to swing by TB with ya for a day of wheelin' if you're up for it.
My wife said I'd have a blast, but I need to get pics of the area, what I do, and of Ross Allen.
I could fly out Sat March 6, and we could wheel Sunday (and Monday if you can), then I have to drive to Huntsville. I'll have my GPS, so I don't get lost on the roads.

I purchased a 8" subwoofer off of one of my buddies and I need to see if it will fit in my modified center console. Then I need to address where to put the amp, etc... Space is going to be more of an issue in my Wrangler than I thought.
Maybe, I'll mount the amp in the console and build a box for just in front of the fenders to house the sub...
I installed the amp in our TJ under the back seat. It's tight, but it fits. But if you want to fold up the seat for storage, you can forget it.
Make sure to mount the amp somewhere where it is reasonably protected from the elements. I think twylie did some interesting amp installation on his TJ.
I also insalled my amp under the back seat. planning in the future to add a second amp. having problems with my front speakers recently. No too bad. Just not enough volume, the rear speakers drown it out. gonna take a good look at it when I get a day off & it warms up a little. INTRUDER-- Congrats on that jeep. Im with Tom.. get those pics up!!
Hold off a bit here. My dates have moved a 3rd time. Now it looks like the 3-4th of March. I will probably be given the 5th as a 'travel day' so I could probably hang out 5th and 6th and fly home on the 7th (5th is a Friday). Once I have the dates firmed, I'll give ya the scoop.
But it would sure be nice to work and THEN have the fun, so I wouldn't have to worry so much about buggin out to get to Huntsville.
What's the closest major airport in the area, Nashville?
I've got my sub amp under the steering column. It's a tight fit, but if the amp is of moderate physical size, you can fab some brackets to go under there and hold it. It's out of the way and hidden as well. If you remove the two screws holding the panel on and give it a tug, you'll see how much area you've got to play with.
Bill: If the amp isn't too big I have seen installs where they put the amp in the dash behind the glove box. You lose most of the glove box but it's out of the way and noone can see it.
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the board! I purchased Buffy just last month and can't express how happy I am with her... everything, from the road manners to the fun you can have off-pavement. The experience has re-invigorated my love for driving to say the least!
We'll just have to see how it goes. Soil moisture is the problem. They close TB when the soil moisture is too high. This can happen as a result of freezing and thawing and/or receiving too much rain.
They are going to be closed this coming weekend because of soil moisture.
Hopefully, it will be OK when you are scheduled to come down.

What's the weather like at TB in March? I'm thinking on still heading there around the 19th and debating about bringing the whole family.
My brother is welding me up a rear bumper/tire swing and a trail rack(he's really good at building stuff) and hope to have this before then.
