Tell them you want the base rate, and see what happens. People get the base rate, every day.

If they say they can't give it to you, because they already gave you a discount? That means they aren't really giving you a discount.

Yeah, you don't have as much leverage in negotiations with a custom order. The time to get the base MF in writing is before the order is placed.

The only fees you should pay are the dealer fee (max $85 in CA), the acquisition fee (probably marked up from $795 to $1095) and the state registration costs (DMV costs are roughly 1.1% of MSRP).

The dealer is out of state (Colorado), and sent me the following worksheet. I'm not sure what the license fee is. They did markup the acquisition fee to $1095 and also have a separate doc fee of $599 (which I had agreed to beforehand when negotiating the price of the vehicle).

But not exactly sure what the license fee ($2,057) is. Is that for title/registration?

Hmm. In Colorado, registration is not paid to the dealer. Perhaps it's an estimation of the DMV costs for CA, which the dealer would remit.

But, I would absolutely get confirmation of that.

CO does not have a cap on doc fees, though $599 is pretty reasonable.
