I know what the math can say about being the fiscally prudent decision, but at this stage of my life, I really don't want to deal with used car drama. Would probably at most do a CPO with a really good warranty, from a dealer that has an impeccable reputation.

and that would likely have to be my car. I don't think my wife would ever agree to a used one for "her" car.

Wife usually goes to the gym in the morning, so I went out to clear the snow/ice from the driveway.
Was out there about half an hour. Cleared one side of the driveway, the sidewalk and the walkway to the front door.
When I got in, checked the weather. Temp was 17 but wind chill made it feel like -18.

That's what we did.. bought a CPO car with an extra 2 years of warranty on top of the 3 years, 4 months left in the original warranty..

You know... being fiscally prudent, and all. :o

Sounds like the redo will be ready in time for Christmas. All you need now is a bow and some drinks to toast the new project. OK, you could forgo the bow but not the drinks.

I got a $10 coupon from the liquor store we use; I’ve been thinking about what to get for the holidays.

—————————————————Well, you’re not going to get anything decent with 10 bucks unless you’re thinking of a couple bottles of premium beer. Although you can probably buy a six pack of Yuengling for less than 10 bucks. I know you’re from Colorado and Coors is the beer of choice there but Yuengling is better a lot better.

And if you're in a state that was late to adopt Yuengling, anyone selling it is going to price it like a premium beer (which anymore is $10.99 for a 6-pack). When I used to get it in NC it was priced surprisingly close to Bud/Coors/Miller.

The envelope I mailed to my grandson on Dec. 2 arrived at his home in Maryland today, the 12th.

It’s 187 miles from my house to my son’s house. The envelope traveled almost 2,100 miles to get there.

I just revel in the absurd. :)

My first endless CEL. It has a cylinder pressure sensor that doesn't want to quit, and I just don't care anymore. So, I check in every couple of months just to make sure that's the only one there, and, when it is, I let it ride.

For most of my adult life I ran my cars up to mileage like that. Now I have 3 vehicles under 35k miles and the fourth is a throwaway hooptie which still has half the mileage of other cars its age.

@ab348 - I'd say the Q7. Looks like an Audi cluster, and 27.3 MPG sounds about right at -12 degrees C. But a stock TDI will not get anywhere close to 180.

Metric temperature, I suppose it is! Never thought of it that way. Anyhow, I don't see any compatibility issues with Celsius and miles. I have the option of swapping the readings as I see fit, so I do. I like to use C because I have many friends who are furrin'ers and use Celsius, so it makes it much easier for me to both translate temperatures and share on a common scale. Being in Alaska, temperature is a common topic of discussion (who knew)! :D

Oh, sorry. That's the Audi Q7 TDI. Too many assumptions on my part.

But, all this talk about miles, and I have to remind folks that I now have a pickup with ~435,000 miles! In comparison, this one still feels like it is in its mileage infancy! At this point, my lowest mileage vehicle is my 1969 C20, which, IIRC, is just a hair over 75,000 miles. That's more than 20,000 lower than the next one, the Crosstrek, with about 97,000.

And, for whatever reason, the economy gauge is way off. It tends to read highly optimistic. For example, this time of year, I tend to calculate fills at about 20 mpg (400 miles for 20 gallons of fill), and it will go as low as 18 or so when temps get quite cold. I can see as high as 30 in the summer, but then the on board computer is telling me I am getting 38/39! It's annoying, but I use it to impress the unknowing. :)

I'm counting down the last three weeks of my term. In the past couple of months I resolved the two double murders (one netted me a couple of interviews on a true crime network- for what that's worth) and today I settled another murder and probably will settle one more. I've had to turn down four job offers; at this point I'm one year older (67) than my father was when he started his eight year term as circuit judge. I could not imagine working full time for another seven years. I am getting back in the retired judge program in April, but the assignments are voluntary. At most I'll take 5-10 days a month to finance my automotive and motorcycling obsessions.

Sounds like what happens to me. I use 3 different browsers, but primarily I use Brave. If I have just rebooted the "machine," I can log into Edmunds on their form. If I've been browsing around the web through various sites and try to do a fresh login, I get the malformed request message.

What I did is just logged in on Chrome and don't use that browser except for Edmunds.
And I also made another instance of Brave and labelled it for Edmunds only. I have a bookmark for Edmunds but even when I start to type the word forums, it autocompletes the URL, and I hit enter and voila, I'm there.

The other instance I use for all the wandering. I'm wondering if Facebook puts something on the computer or does something that Edmunds won't accept or won't accept Edmunds' login?

Now when I start Brave, I have two login personas, and I just click on which one I want to use.

No sign in issues here either

Don’t have your browser clearing cookies when you exit? That would do it

I find that various Windows updates will randomly wipe cookies or other saved items which is a real pain. Just another mystifying Windows flaw.
    I just had an update.

If I want to go to Cronic Buyers, for example, I usually click on "Home" then My Bookmarks. Now that makes me sign in again. If I scroll up to the top of this page and click on My Bookmarks, it works OK.
Every few weeks or months the system kicks me out and I have to sign back in but not every time. I began thinking it was jmonroe trying to collect dues.😂

To keep this topical, my neighbor had some sort of new appliance unloaded this afternoon, but I couldn’t tell what it was. Pretty sure it wasn’t a dishwasher, but possibly a range.

I hope it was a dishwasher. Maybe you could ask him and let us know.
