I am having hard time matching dealer's quote, before I question them could you please check my math? CX50 Premium using 0.00066 MF with 57% RV, MSRP is $36575, they are offering selling price of 35548 which is shy of 3% off. After $500+$750 loyalty+military, which we are eligible for both, I am getting $446.24/month including taxes (rolled in) zip 11729, only 1st month, Bank, Dealer, DMV fees due at signing. Is this correct? Their advertised offer is $509.69 /month.
Their offer as below:
It says their quote is a Base model. The numbers you are using are for Premium. Also, they show $3504 added to the CAP. I assume that's because you are doing ZERO due at signing?
They tell you the CAP cost is $37,802, right in the explanation. If you aren't using that number, look at their itemization of charges, and see what you're missing.
Thanks, they might have made a mistake, but is my own calculation correct? CX50 Premium 10k/36mo, using 0.00066 MF with 57% RV, MSRP is $36575, selling price of 35548. Minus $500+$750 loyalty+military, which we are eligible for both, with taxes rolled into monthly payment, it's $0 down but 1st month, dmv, bank fee, doc fee out of pocket - are you also getting $446.24?
Edit: I think their website vs what they are giving me, links might have been crossed, here is what it shows to me, I think their selling price was wrong calculation because I realize they consider customer cash from Mazda which doesn't seem to apply to lease.
MSRP: 35,955 Discount $922 Selling Price $35,033 Minus Loyalty and Military -$1250 = $33,783.00
With 0 down but 1st month, dmv, bank fee, doc fee out of pocket My calculation is giving me $405 pre-tax. If I roll in taxes $405 + (tax + interest), or taxes paid up front in total Did I screw up my calculator somehow?
Why are there two different MSRP amounts in your post? You have to use the higher one - with the destination charge included - in your payment calculation.
That might be the source of the confusion.
Thanks Michaell, I checked with them for correction, so please disregard the earlier more expensive one. The Vehicle is MSRP: 35,955, the yare offering $922 discount. Selling Price $35,033 Minus Loyalty and Military -$1250 = $33,783
With $0 down but (1st month, dmv registration $250, Inspection $10, Filing Fee $1.93, NY Tire fee $12.50, bank fee $750, NY dealer doc fee $175) out of pocket, how much is it pre-tax and with 11729 sales tax applied? (8.76%)
Here are my calculations, using your prices (assuming all taxes and fees are paid up front):
That's exactly what I am getting when I put the numbers into my calculation that I built in excel using your (edmunds) instruction how to calculate step by step and I always calculated it correctly, until I started dealing with Mazda dealers.
I really don't understand how they are coming up with these numbers or what they are doing.
I went there today asking them to honor the calculation, but they just wouldn't print out the selling price, insist on giving me monthly payment.
However, I learned that unfortunately military discount will not apply because technically it's not Veteran/Military but active military or within 2 years of discharge. So we won't be eligible, so I re-did it using $750 and the moment I build anything into the monthly payment, their system goes haywire.
Here it is that I experimented and put exactly what's due in out of pocket and it matches exactly what you (and I) have pre-tax: $419
When I reduce the down payment/out of pocket to $1664 range, for example here, just enough down payment to cover fees (except taxes) which calculation verifies, it's always about $10/month higher in the end:
I am not trying to save the $10 (though it's nice since we would be very close to budget) but trying to figure out what it is that they are doing so that monthly payment looks higher.

Hi Michaell, I wanted to come back and give an update. We signed on cx50 premium at $36k MSRP with fixed $1500 out of pocket (we rolled in about $200 of the fees, and all taxes) at $449/month 10k/36mo lease yesterday. Overall discount was a little over 4% which my target was 5% and to be honest that would still be doable since Edmunds indicate that even for the lower MSRP of 35620 (without any add ons, in our case they had lug nuts, cargo package etc added) anything between 34200 to 34750 is a good deal.
Thanks again for Edmunds forums and you and your team for all your help in providing numbers. We were cross shopping CRV, RAV4, Tucson and CX50, ultimately went with Mazda.

Thanks, i was beginning to doubt my lease calculation skills
the Edmunds calculator has proven to be unreliable as far as reality goes. All my calculations were way off compared to what I received from the actual dealer. I don't know what it is.
I know this is a CX-50 forum but the number I got from Mazda on a 2025 CX-5 Premium Plus made my jaw drop and made zero sense to me. I just got a CX-5 Premium Plus two years ago for $200/month less. I was excited after the test drive but not at the numbers.
A FULLY LOADED Kia Telluride was only $70/month higher then the CX-5 Premium Plus. I could have gone next door and got myself a Hyundai Palisade XRT for cheaper. Or a RAV 4 PHEV. I know I am talking monthly payment a lot but I look hard at the numbers. A 3 row midsize SUV should not even be in the same ballpark as a compact SUV.
In case anyone is wondering why I am bringing a Telluride and a Palisade up, these are numbers I got from dealers when we did my wife's car search just prior to this.
Sorry to get off topic. But just wanted to relay that I feel good about calculating lease prices and also said WTF after I walked out of the Mazda dealer. I love Mazda but I may be looking elsewhere.

You cannot compare the lease programs from 24 months ago to the current ones - everything is more expensive now.

What did you end up leasing?
my wife wound up leasing the Kia Telluride SX Prestige. I am still looking and I may be doing so for a while.
You are right about things being different. The money factor on my Premium Plus from 2023 was .00093 and it's now .00215. My trade in equity also decreased by $4k compared to what the same dealer paid in 2023. That is probably the biggest single factor.

What did you end up leasing?

You are right about things being different. The money factor on my Premium Plus from 2023 was .00093 and it's now .00215. My trade in equity also decreased by $4k compared to what the same dealer paid in 2023. That is probably the biggest single factor.
