Just joined the forum, and just bought a Veracruz 2 days ago (9/29/07) in NJ. Bought a 2007 SE AWD only option was floor mats.
MSRP: $30,525
Invoice: $28,670
They showed us the holdback of $745 (don't have the papers in front of me)
Price: $27,925 (no hold back)
- $1,000 Rebate
Paid $26,925 + tax + tags + $109 Doc. prep
Got $4,800 for the trade (straight book value)
Deal at $22,125 + t, t, dp
Got everything at book values.
How can you get $3800 below invoice? Was there a trade? Customer rebate? Dealer rebate? There must be a reason.
No dealer would lose money on a new car. The only idea that makes any sense is the last car sold, at the last minute, on the last day of the month/quarter, and the dealer needed just one more to make a quota.
$1640 below invoice sounds like a fair deal.
What book value did you use for your trade?
Thanks
I purchased the same car in FWD last week in NJ for $25096 less the rebate of $1000. I would have gladly paid the extra for AWD though.
When I signed the rebate form, they also needed a copy of the reg for my Explorer and were concerned it didnt say Explorer on the reg, so I guess they may need proper documentation for Hyundai to get the rebate.
As for registration, I live in PA, so it will be transfered to PA. We also wanted to change the name on the reg. so we are getting new plates. Tags and title are $133.50. I'll have to get it inspected in PA; that we be approx $25.
Anyone have any problems with the CD player?
MSRP 36,275 INV 33,759 Offered to me without negotiating
31,259. This car has ALL Hyundai could offer on the vehicle except for AWD. I was thinking of a counter offer of 29,500
I purchased an Outlook in February. Several days later, I developed a pain in my lower back, right hip joint and right inner thigh due to low, unsupportive seats and the way the center console encroaches on the foot well causing my right foot to tun in. After several test drives these were not issues. But after purchase, they developed. I thought maybe seat adjustments would do the trick. No such luck! I have been driving in pain for 7.5 months and I'm ready to get rid of it.
I am interested in the GLS and hoping to get one with a sunroof. Obviously, I looking for the most in trade and the best deal from Hyundai.
Two questions for you.
1. I realize the VC is shorter, but is there substantial room between the 2nd and 3rd rows? How does it compare to the Outlook?
2. The hesitant tranny is well publicized in the Outlook - yes it is a pain in the a--! I've had 3 updates, but it is still annoying. Climbing a winding hill with the AC on is aggravating. I've read that the VC has some hesitation. How does the VC compare with the Outlook in the tranny category? Maybe it's a VVT phenomenon.
Would appreciate any feedback from you , or any VC owners who test drove the Outlook. Thanks.
I am wondering if you get the value out of buying a 2007 year vehicle so late in the year anyway.
Matt
yes, if you own a competing SUV or minivan. The dealer has to have a copy of your vehicle registration, so no, the dealer can't just hide it and pocket the money from hyundai.

My dumb question: Are OTD prices folks quote here after application of rebates? I'm verifying w/ dealer, but believe this quote assumes using Comp Owner rebate ($1000) and military ($500). Thanks for the great insight.
Ask to see the invoice.
Watch for extra fees (doc fees, prep fees,etc..). It has been reported that some dealers are adding the Des. Charge to the deal twice.
Take your time and fully review all aspects of the deal.
Good Luck!

Also, does anyone know what combination of model, exterior color, & interior color it takes to get the black/dark dashboard trim?
Read the last 100 posts.
I live in Ohio, and a trip to Maryland would be a 500 mile drive, but that didn't stop me from passing along the link to their deal to the local dealers in my area. With very little effort, I had the locals down to $1,200 under invoice for an 08 Limited FWD, where we struck a deal. (I didn't feel a difference of $238 was worth driving 500 miles for, especially since I wanted the local dealer to service my new Veracruz; your mileage may vary.
The sales manager was quick to point out that they had never had a customer present them with a competive deal from "5 states away", but they also stuck to their word on matching any deal I brought in. These dealers are very motivated right now to move cars, at little to no profit because the more they sell now, the larger their allocations of cars will be in the future. They want to build a solid base of new customers at just about any price, so use that to your advantage.
Negotiating for a new car is a game, the more knowledge you have going in, the better you will do. Don't be afraid to get up and walk out; your phone will be ringing when you get home with a better deal.
Good post.

Actually, if Hyundai doesn't get the nav to market, integrate the bluetooth properly, and bring back the ability to have an aux audio jack dealer-installed, they might have to start paying people to take the VC, because just about every competitor is doing all of these things (rather well) now.

Are you tracking any other vehicle deals? Acadia, Enclave or CX-9.
Also tracking the Freestyle and Taurus X.
As for the Enclave, supply and demand are killing the market for good deals. Some people have been able to get some pretty good deals when combining GM card points and rebates.
IMO the Outlook is a very poor value. On the other hand, you can find some good deals on the Acadia using rebates.
Good Luck!
