Per the Hondanews press release site posted earlier, the touring model comes standard w/o Pax tires but are available as an option on the touring model only. As to delivery date, my dealer has 2008's on order and I want an EX-L. Turns out he has 2 EX-L's without navigation coming in and one is in my color choice so I have a deposit on it. Supposed to arrive around 1st week in Nov. This dealer is one of the biggest in Honda sales so I imagine he may get his allottment earlier than some dealers. My dealer thought pricing may be posted some time in early Oct.

All I want is a power lift gate....I am tetering between an Ody and an Acadia. I can add a package on an Acadia for around $400 to get a power lift gate without going to the top trim line. I can do the same in a Sienna too. I was hoping the 08's would make that an option. At least PAX are no longer standard.

HI - I have been unable to get a salesman to answer any questions about the 2008s. Today's press release and your message answered some but I am also curious about color choices. Do you know if the black and red colors will still be available and if any new colors were added? It sounds like your dealer had information that they shared with you. I think my dealerships just want to sell all the 2007s. Thanks for any help.
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
My biggest gripe about Honda pricing is that you've got to go the highest trim level just to get the power lift gate.

I know you get more than THAT with a Touring... but really, I don't care about all that other stuff. I just want to be able to load my groceries without breaking my back opening and closing the back hatch. I'm 5'1 with a bad back... I'd love to just push a button and be done with it.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
The manual tailgate in the '07s aren't terribly heavy, but I can see how you'd want a power tailgate.

Guess you'll have to look at Siennas and Grand Caravans and Sedonas...
  • rv65rv65 Member Posts: 1,076
It was already confirmed a few months ago. Yep it's true since there is a model number for a PAX less touring.
  • mama2girlsmama2girls Member Posts: 5
It's not that they are heavy, just difficult to reach easily for us shorties!

I saw the new Chryslers. Eew. If it is between and Ody and a Sienna, Ody all the way. Sedona is an incredibly bland knock off of an Ody and Sienna. No thanks.

Looks like November is when they will hit the dealers. Build dates are in the 2nd and 3rd week of October. I guess build out will be this month or the next.
  • sd_dadsd_dad Member Posts: 34
Do you know, then, when dealers will get pricing and availability? For example, if I know the trim and color combination, when will the dealers know whether they will be getting one and when can I make my deal? Thanks rv65, you're very knowledgeable and have been very helpful.

As an aside, I helped my parents negotiate on a plain '07 EXL with info from these forums. One dealer offered $28.9, and I told him we would pay $26. He gave me the "we just want a fair price" lecture (by email). Then I got an email from his competitor 10 miles away offering $26.2 (they're going to take that deal). These forums basically saved my parents $2,700--that seems fair. Thanks to all!

Honda was producing 08 accords in the middle of august so they like to start production a month in advance like the 08 accord. The car was to go on sale on September 12th but they were really producing them since August 12th or maybe even earlier for Japan built models. I do believe that the 08's will be discounted.

Honda has an interactive network but only dealers can access that. Interactive network is a service for dealer employees. Shows the models and inventory. Some people on honda forums have asked dealer employees for inventories of certain vehicles. So November is looking more likely. 07 buildout should be happening very soon if not right now.

Your welcome. If not for the forums I browse. They might be getting allocation info maybe in october. I know that they should be getting the 08's in their November allocations.

    Just food for thought.

My wife and I are looking to get an odyssey (our first experience of buying a new car)...either a deal on an '07 or a new '08. My feeling is we have waited this long, let's wait for an '08. We haven't decided on leasing or buying...leaning towards leasing. You guys are all so knowledgable on this site, so pardon my ignorance in asking a few basic questions. What is a "build out"? Is it possible that the 2008 Odyssey could be slightly cheaper than than the 2007 Odyssey? Can you/is it smart to put in an "order", for lack of a better term, on a 2008 Odyssey or do you just have to wait until the dealers start getting them? What happens to 2007 Odyssey's that a dealer is having trouble selling? Do they just keep slashing the price until somebody bites or do they get sent to an auction or foreign country, etc? So the 2008 Odyssey's are supposed to hit showrooms in November(early/middle/late?)...is there going to be a rush/waiting list? I just want to get feel for what we are up against and not miss out. Thank you for your time and knowledge!

Build out is the last batch of the current model vehicle. No not really because the 2008 vehicle is a Minor Model change which is like a facelift with a few changes. Dont think there will be a waiting list. This car is a mass produced van. Honda has a pretty large plant in Alabama that builds lots of these things. Might be slightly more popular since it's a revised version of the current model. As for leftover models I think they keep selling it. They can auction but I believe they can keep on selling it at a discount.

Looks like a november debut if production starts in october. Honda starts production 1 month or earlier in advance.

Again they do this stuff. The info is released but it seems like a november release.

A reporter is interested in hearing from parents who own a 2008 minivan. Please reply to jfallon@edmunds.com by Tuesday, October 9, 2007 and be sure to include the make and model of your minivan and the age of your kids.

Does anyone know when Honda will officially release pricing information on the 2008 Odyssey - and when 2008 Odysseys should be in dealers?
  • rv65rv65 Member Posts: 1,076
Late October is when the pricing could be released but most likely early November. I believe the 08 Odyssey is in Production already.

    Hello All,

I am new to this Forum so please bear with me.

I GOT A MSG FROM A DEALER, that he will get "HONDA ODYSSEY 2008" next week.

so hoping to get a look at it.

I want to buy Honda Odyssey 2007/2008 based on features and look and feel.

    Thank you,
  • mongooseman7mongooseman7 Member Posts: 2
So, if I were to choose the 07 over the 08 because of pricing, what should I expect to pay? I received an offer of 27,500 for an 07 EX-L. Is that in line with offers for others in this forum?
  • sd_dadsd_dad Member Posts: 34
You should be able to get an EX-L for $26,000
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    hi,

do you mean, EX-L for $26,000 or EX-L with RES for $26,000?

If it is EX-L with RES for $26,000, can you provide me the details where you will get it and how? I will buy it immediately if I get EX-L with RES for $26,000.

    Thank you.
  • sd_dadsd_dad Member Posts: 34
Sorry, I meant plain EX-L (which was in the current post; I didn't look at your earlier one).
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
I thought that allocations for '08 Odysseys were more towards the end of October, or at least that was what I heard from the salesperson who was checking his allocation of '07 and '08 Odysseys...
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    Hi,

I am not sure what exactly you mean Allocations. But check the following exact message I got from a Dealer:

The 2008 models should be here next week. I will let you know when they come in.

    Thank you.
  • rv65rv65 Member Posts: 1,076
I guess it's coming soon. Honda has an interactive network for dealers that tell them exactly which allocations they are getting etc.
  • jchan2jchan2 Member Posts: 4,956
allocations refer to the amount and what combination of Odysseys that a specific dealership will receive.

Next week sounds about right, though, since it's about Mid-October right now.

Despite the original press release (text, not chart), it looks like Bluetooth will only be available on the Touring model. The original press release text said EX-L and Touring.

That's a terrible shame. Now I did notice a microphone on the 07 Touring EX-L we looked at--it didn't have bluetooth, but the salesman said that it would be available as a dealer install starting in Nov. Don't know if that is true--maybe I'll start a discussion on that.

As far as 07 vs 08, while it may be true that 08s will go at a discount, I doubt very much there will be $2000 Honda-to-dealer money on the '08, at least for quite some time, however.

So basically, the 07 is going to be thousands cheaper.

I want the power lift gate, too...its really a shame you have to get the Touring for that also.

Is $26000 out-the-door or plus tax? How much it cost for 2007 EX?
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    Hello,

Yesterday, I bargained with Honda Dealers for EX-L with RES, They finally came down to 27,200 and that is the final rate they are going to come down.

I am still looking for a better price. :P
  • rv65rv65 Member Posts: 1,076
If you were in the OC area there it was shown at the OC autoshow. It passed already but it was there. It should be coming soon. I didn't go to that show btw. The bluetooth is the same as the 2008 accord. That kit is used in acura's and honda. Navi is the same as 2007 but with the 4.62 disc.
  • yiufaingyiufaing Member Posts: 2
    $27,200 plus fees?
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    Yes,

The Price is: 27,200 (Including $600 for Destination)

I have to pay for TTL (Tax, Title & Licence)

I live in Illinois, these Dealers are in Western Suburbs of Chicago.

Hi! I saw your posting. I really want a minivan with a power trunk and an 8th seat and until now, none offered that option. According to your posting, the 08 touring will have the 8th seat. I haven't heard that anywhere else. can you tell me where you got the information and whether it is still valid. Thanks so much.
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
You can go on Honda's website.
The 08 Tourings will offer an 8th seat PLUS power lift gate (trunk hatch).

First year for Honda to offer this combination.
  • rv65rv65 Member Posts: 1,076
Well Honda has already announced the specs almost amonth ago. The press release was released around that time frame. Yes it will have the 8th passenger jumpseat in lieu of the lazy susan which is a storage bin where the 8th seat is. There are some improvements. Yes you get 8 passenger, power liftgate, navigation, DVD player, and bluetooth in the touring. It's an awesome van.

"Yes it will have the 8th passenger jumpseat in lieu of the lazy susan which is a storage bin where the 8th seat is"

Does it mean 8th seat in Touring has replaced the under floor second row storage? If so, is storage also not there in EX-L? I thought all trims except LX had the under floor storage. Could someone confirm?
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
    There IS storage room there.
You can CHOOSE to put your extra seat there OR in your garage (or wherever).

We've got ours in the garage and will get it out on a "as needed" basis. Right now, I need that in-floor storage for jackets, water, snacks and other stuff for the kids.
  • madhuvmadhuv Member Posts: 2
    hello:
Is this model incl nav+ entertainment system
  • mary36mary36 Member Posts: 52
EX-L R&N and Tourings both have the in-floor storage, plus one seat and DVD + NAV.
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    Nope,

this model is with Entertainment System only, no Navigation.
  • bigmike51bigmike51 Member Posts: 2
I live south of the Chicago area. Can you tell me the dealer that gave you this price ($27,200) on a EX-L with RES? Thanks for your help.
  • sunilk_14sunilk_14 Member Posts: 19
    Honda dealer in Lisle.

Honda had two 2008 Odysseys at last weeks Orange County Auto Show.

My family and I had a great time running between the Sienna, the odyssey and the T&C.

The Odyssey looked great with the new grill. My wife voted overwhelmingly for the Odyssey. The Limited with the bench seat was a winner and she loved the leather. The speaker system left much to be desired, but she liked that she could hook her ipod to it and the bluetooth feature. Previously she was pushing the 2007 because the dealers kept telling her that the 2008 would be exactly the same. SO untrue.

However the kids couldnt stop lobbying for the T&C, the dual screen and DVD players, were the clinchers in their book and my thought the body was great. The leather felt like plastic. But we really couldnt crawl around it like we did the honda.

The Toyota didnt really offer anything new, but it was fun to crawl around it.

I found this chance to win a 2008 Odyssey on the Web: http://www.verybestbabyhondasweepstakes.com/

If you read the fine print you can see that the prize is worth $36,998. The contest rules don't state which model will be given away. The 2007 EX-L R&N has an MSRP of $34,895. The 2007 Touring without Nav has an MSRP of $36,895. However, the 2008 Touring will have Nav included. So, if the prize is a Touring model that indicates Honda will include the Nav for essentially the price of the 2007 Touring without Nav.

My guess is that the contest rules were written before Honda realized they would be including Nav in the 2008 Touring, so they indicated the value of the prize based on the 2007 Touring without Nav plus some inflation built in.

Any other guesses on which model will be given away?
  • sleepydeuxsleepydeux Member Posts: 5
According to the link below, the MSRP on the Touring models have increased from the 2007 prices:

    http://automobiles.honda.com/tools/build-price/trims.asp?SERIESNAME=Odyssey&MODE- L=&ECOLOR=&ICOLOR=&YEAR=2008&SERIES=14&Trim=

    $40,010 and $40,610 (PAX)

Also, what's up with no Dark Cherry Pearl on the Touring edition??? I hope this is some "testing the new 2008 web site" issue. If not, my wife is going to have a fit because she *really* wanted a Dark Cherry Pearl Touring.
    :-(
  • siggie1siggie1 Member Posts: 56
Thanks for the link. I've been looking for the pricing for weeks.

Honda Financial Services is now also showing the 2008 Odyssey, but when you ask for a lease quote it indicates that you have to contact your dealer:

How is it that PAX tires cost $3-400 each to replace ($1,200-$1,600 for a set of 4), yet the Touring with PAX only costs $600 more than non-PAX?
  • theooutbacktheooutback Member Posts: 19
They've been changing the pages over all day it seems. Earlier today the 2007 pages were up. Awhile ago, the 2007 colors were still there with other 2008 pages, but the color page has just changed as well - their is a new Blue (baltic) that looks close to the older dark blue on the web (which doesn't tell you much). The video / commercial page just changed over as well. All the other pages seemed to have changed over a little while earlier (photo pages, feature pages). Prices are listed. Specs are listed.

Also, Honda dealer told me today that they (Honda) are working on a dealer-installed bluetooth package for any Odyssey. I'd get confirmation from your own dealer on that, but I pass it along.
  • djs3djs3 Member Posts: 7
So now that Honda has posted detailed information on the 2008 Odyssey on their website, when will the 2008 Odysseys start arriving at dealers?
  • jwpfljwpfl Member Posts: 11
Because you still have to buy wheels and tires.

Pretty soon. Maybe within the next week or so. I guess you beat me to it. Oh well.
