Glad your getting the hang of it. I got my cat Saturday which is a MTX, but I've been driving an automatic for 4 years, so I know how your feeling. It's like riding a bike - you fall right back into it - but all clutches are different and I'm still getting used to it. I, also shift too soon sometimes when going from 1st to 2nd. It's just a matter of practice and driving it more and more. Who thought practice could be this fun! When I get off work I'll probably practice all night.
freeverse:
The best advice I can give is to test drive one. And test drive the manual, if possible. I loved the way the car looked, but driving it was the decision maker.
Ambercadabra:
CONGRATULATIONS! The wait is SO worth it, isn't it?
Happy driving, all! Vroom, vroom.
So you think I look funny?! Funny like a clown? Do I amuse you? HUH?!
Actually I know what you mean, it is rather strange to meet people from the group face to face, but I think that is the purpose of this group. To bring owners together in order to share information and to extend the owners enjoyment of the Cougar.
Cool pictures from the CSG meet. I hadn't seen the saphire blue colour before. It looks really sharp, Coolchick.
I meant no disrespect, i'm sorry if I came off a little harsh. I have been having a rough day today. I'll be sure to switch to decaf and chill out.
Sorry, didn't mean to come off like that.
I think I'm having the same sort of day. We've been butting heads a bit also in the modifications topic. I respect your opinions and it's always a pleasure to read the comments made by fellow car enthusiasts like yourself and others in this group.
Thanks for the kind words about my kitty. I think she's the prettiest one too, but I'm biased of course.
posted in the CEG Mailing list, from a dealer
who works with the group.
Still MWS is the Man.. so what gives is it true?
MWS on another note,
someone mentioned on the NECO list
that the 2000 cougars had changes in
the exhaust system, can you elaborate?
(this came up because the Borla AEM is apparently incompatible with the 2000s)
Thanks
Eric
Freeverse: I was in precisely your position for the last 6 months while I researched, drove and pondered my decision to buy a Cougar. I just picked mine up on Monday, and I KNOW I made the right choice. I should probably tell you to take your time and shop around, but the heck with that. You're looking at the right car - I've got a year of stuff behind me to prove it. Maybe I'll mail you my file folder FULL of all my car shopping stuff - LOL - oh wait, I burned the darn thing because I dont need it anymore...heheheh...
Rob - AMEN!! Pinstripes are for wussies. There was a tourmaline green cat at the dealership, and it had a tan pinstripe on it...YUCKY. I was kind of disappointed to find out that there were no engine mods to the pretty kitty, but I suppose I'd want to do that for myself anyway so I could decide precisely what I wanted to do...Aside from the pinstripe, it was a nice lookin' car though.
I'm sure a million people have asked this before, but since I just managed to come around recently, can someone tell me the best wax to buy? And I caught the idea about the Swiffer on the interior (LOVE that), but what about the outside? I, too, used to use a Cali duster on my Camaro, but it never seemed to quite do the job right...
If you click the Topic List button at the top of this page, you'll see the CSG Cougar Care topic. That's where we're discussing Cat-care products, just so you know. I'm using the Meguiar's line of products right now for the exterior, and Swiffers, water and a vacuum for the interior. :^) Also, if you haven't yet, check out Jimbo-G's detailing tips at the CSG Web Site.
I've been checking out the CSG and saw the dang Care topic, and didn't make the connection to care=wax=etc....
Thanks for steering me straight..LOL
The details will be posted as soon as possible!

My girl friend and I were inside the kitty in a dual left turn lane, I was on the inside lane. The roads were slick from a recent rain.
While about to complete the turn a female on the outside left turn lane lost control of her 94 Geo tracker, over compensated to the left, hit my car, over compensated to the right, and hit a light pole!
My kitty as the bumper detached about an inch on the passenger site, the grill is damaged, and my driving light was busted.
Lucky for me she had Nationwide insurance and they are going to pay for everything.
I am so Pee O'd. Lucky for me I wasn't hurt, neither was my girlfriend, and my kitty is driveable.
I hate driving in Fayetteville, NC. I have just about given up on trying to watch how, and where I park my kitty. No matter what I do to keep it looking nice something always seems to happen.
Geez you have no luck at all. I'm really upset for you and your Cat, but thank God no one was hurt.
I have been hit several times over the years by careless drivers, I know how frustrating it can be.
Sorry to hear about your accident. No matter how bad it seems, just look at the bright side. You're both alive to talk about it.
Badulah:
Thanks for the offer (CD changer). I think that right now, I'll hold off on it. Everything's still brand new on the Cat, and I'd hate to make any changes or mods to it. Maybe when she gets a little older, I'll have no problems replacing some things.
The pictures you took at the unofficial meet were nice. Now I know the face behind the name. One question--did you guys call each other by your real names, or did you go by your screen names?
The only decent picture of me is the one when I am waxing Coolchicks car. The other two are HORRIBLE!
What a bad turn of events! We're all pulling for the speedy recovery of your Cat. Did they say how long it would be before they fix it?
Badulah:
Maybe we should use the "blue dot" on member photos? :^)
But the Kitty looks nice no matter what color.
It's almost like taking a different persona. People at work call me by my name. When I wanna get away from work (while at work), I post on CSG just to get away from the everyday hassle, you know what I mean.
8-)
Rob, way to go, baby. You TELL that mean, nasty new neighbor of yours to get the HECK out of the katnap spot...or I'll come over there and tow that puppy outta there myself.
We're looking at posting up to six stories per week, with archives of the previous weeks after it gets going. Please submit all writeups to the CSG.
Thanks!
Jack
Does that help?
Fortunately my fiancee is totally accepting of my love of my kitty which is a huge relief.
I also saw a weird yellow cat today. I thought that the color must have been aftermarket, I guess it isn't.
I recieved my new tire iron in the mail this week as well.
I got an estimate for the repairs to my kitty, 1041.00. Fortunately Nationwide Insurance is picking up the entire tab.
Other than complaining about how uncomfortable the seats are, the kitty got a pretty good review.
Overall they kitty was reliable, reasonably fast transportation that got mucho, mucho attention wherever it went.
I to received a new tire iron in the mail yesterday. The one in my car seems to be fine, but I'll swap it out anyway.
Had to drop some stuff off at the Salvation Army today. The guys out back to unload the cars were all raving about mine...but a little less when they saw how much stuff was packed in there!
You'll see, it'll be catchy, I promise. :^)
Stageleft came up with a cleaver name, but you will have to wait until it's posted to see what it is. In the mean time send in your praise statements so we can get them posted.
The replacement was for the 99's only. The 00's had the new wrench from the factory.

As far as the seats go I drove cross country in the Cougar and I had NO PROBLEMS with the seats.
The seats in the Honda Si in my opinion were less comfortable than the Cougars, especially the arm rests (or lack therof) in the Si. And C & D LOVES the Si.
