I'm still interested too...as long as my regular airline doesn't void its frequent flier program!

Steve - if you're still interested in meeting in Chi-town and carpooling, I'm game.

Great chat, Papa Loosh even showed up. We could almost hear the baby in the back ground. :-)

I was picking my car up from the dealer. I finally had my trunklids swapped and my spoiler removed!!!!!

I must say the look is much cleaner now. I definitely like it. :-)

I'd love to go on a tour if I can find an excuse to be in the area. There's always a conference I can find. How is the plant from Chicago?

From SE Wisconsin, it's about 190 miles. 3 hours or so. It takes me a good hour to get from here to downtown Chicago, so about 2 hours from downtown to SIA.

This year I came to work dressed as a Detective. Inspector juiceman, actually.

Another friend came as sheriff, and we chased around a 3rd person who came as an escaped convict. It was pretty funny.

Wonder if I'll still have a job on Monday. ;-)

    I'll post some pics later.

    Hahha.... cool!

This year I came in as a computer guy who doesn't know what he's doing here... but wait.. that's my outfit everyday this year ;-)

I'd like to do the tour. Drive my Legacy to where it was manufactured sounds good.

Just got back home. Hit a few neighborhoods, then went to a community party at a neighboring towns rec center. Beth made the girls matching Amish outfits - deep purple long dresses with a black oversmock and hooded hats! People went crazy over them. Nothing cuter than hearing 22 month old Annie saying something along the lines of "Tick-o-teet", then "tanks" as she toddled away.

Well it looks like we've come to a crossroads in the life of the L...

Thinking that we may go full bore and do a WRX swap, driveline and all including seam-welding where we can and re-doing the bushings all around. We are thinking that we might try to get GRM or another magazine to do a long-term article on the start to finish of it. Any thoughts from you guys? Anyone know any sponsors who might actually give us $ to work on this project? :)

    Thanks for the input.

Hello folks, I'm back from Asia, really missed driving my Outback :)

Before I re-start my crusade on the ACC system, I need to buy some winter tires.

I have the following 3 on my short list:

    Nokian RSI
    Blizzak WS-50
    Michelin X-Ice

    Any personal experiences with those?

As the weather gets colder, I will be documenting how the ACC behaves.

Aww... can't recognize a garnet red Legacy GT wagon 5MT with a few body shots? LOL

Ayup, beat out the Forester XT in the end... Just a more classy looking (interior and exterior) and more balanced performer.

Man that looks awesome! Second Garnet Red wagon I saw this morning (after Jay's XT).

    Great photos and shine!!

Did you get the taupe interior? I'm thinking of an OXT in garnet red, but the only ones i've seen is with the black interior. Too much like my WRX (also red), plus the salesman said the red w/ taupe is the way to go...

    Enjoy, i'm jealous!
  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
Congrats. That looks nice. I had test drove a red Leg GT wagon, but it was at night so no way to appreciate the way it looks.

    Enjoy!

Got the UNLIMITED version. :) Wish it was a color choice for cloth, I agree the color combo would work very well.

Congrats! Nice color. I haven't seen a red one here in the NW.

It's nice being off the fence, huh? ;-)

I like the idea. Continue to play on the theme that Subies aren't just for rallyists or wannabe rallyists. Poke your nose around for a WRX STi or FXT swap as well.

Would GRM do it? I dunno, but I now have, erm, connections to them. Drop me a line (PM or e-mail) and let's chat. That new Subaru enthuiast magazine, Subiesport, might be a venue as well.

beanboy: I'd like to officially extend to you a welcome from the OCD Club. Nice shine on that paint!

Now you can suffer from OCD with a good on-line support group. Have you waxed the underside of the hood and the back of the rims yet? ;-)

Ok folks in the Mid-Atlantic Area, PA Area, etc.

Looks like Team IAC will be doing a 4hr Enduro race at Summit Point Raceway Saturday November 20th. We'll be a 2-driver car running the '96 Impreza L. I'm asking anyone in the area that has an interest come out and support us in this venture! You'll get to see some great racing, and see one of your crew members doing a real race! The Subaru will likely be up for the task w/o issue and we should do well especially if we get some rain :)

    Date: Saturday November 20
Location: Summit Point Raceway, WV (About 1hr from Harrisburg, Baltimore, DC
    More info: http://Emraracing.org

    Thanks!

Waxed the wheels, door jams, under the hood, and around the lift gate... :)

Very happy about being off the fence. Waiting for the snow!

I've managed to take it back to the dealer for some service or another whenever it was dirty. This past time I brought it in they washed it again! Great! They do a pretty good job too. ;-)

I do clean the interior plastic and leather though.

Juice- Are you the Crew's troll hunter? I noticed your posts on the GT vs TSX vs TL. But can you kill them? ;-)

    Nice work.

    tom
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
IMHO I think our best troll killer is paisan himself, who fears nothing and holds nothing back.

I try to be polite, and annoy them out of here. :o)

Gee, I thought Trolls were extinct, with most killed by paisan. It's been happy timese for billy goats for seemingly years!

Well my co-driver won't be able to get his liscence in time for that Nov 20 race so it looks like we are out for that.

There's always next time, Mike. ;-)

Hey Mike, how do you insure your car while you're racing?

    tom
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
There is no insurance for racing. Anytime your car is on the track it is generally not covered under any insurance. Some insurance companies will cover an accident at a track for a school but 99% won't and none cover racing.

Hence I trailer the car to events :)

    -mike
  • tsytsy Member Posts: 1,551
So what do these guys with Porsches and Ferraris and Corvettes do? Just risk it?

Hmm. I guess I really do need to build a track car, just for fun though. ;-)

BTW, what about your life insurance? ;-)

    tom
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
yes-- they're nucking futs. personally I'd go for a kart or formula ford if I had the racing itch. well, honestly my first choice would be an SV650. :)

    ~c
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Yup the rule of thumb for the track:

"If you can't afford to walk away from the car, then don't bring it to the track"

Life Insurance? I think that still works, and it won't matter anyway since I won't be around to collect :)

This guy claims his dealer had 3 new Legacy engine failures but won't reveal any details about it, it's like he's being purposely vague. I don't buy his story for a second.

  • subaru_teamsubaru_team Member Posts: 1,676
I can assure anyone that it is a load of bunk. I'm sure I would have heard of engine issues with these cars. We review a report of ALL issues/concerns/praise for 2005 MY vehicles every week. If we saw a failure rate like that we'd be all over it...and tht isn't on any of our radar. Hmmm - nice hunting Juice!

Bob - can you pinch hit for me? :-)

Excellent rebuttals over on the Forester vs. Rav4 thread. Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to win that one. SUVshopper is one step up from a troll, would that be an ogre?

    Thanks.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

I'm basically done there unless there are corrections I feel need to be made. I don't like hijacking threads just for arguments' sake.
