Cat's out of the bag. Someone over there must've hacked their site. Remember when they found that rally site before it was official also?

Any how, here is the site:

    http://sevenseats.com/

That short film is funny, but I don't think it would ever make it on broadcast TV.

It is a lot edgier than we are used to seeing from Subaru, though.

that is not the only way to need more seats in your vehicle for kids (not that we didn't TRY that approach on more than one occasion...)!

That was a great little clip!

How that go again? "Don't come a knocking, if my Subie is a rockin'".

Why do you think I got tinted windows?

    LOL

2 kids, a nanny, and a dog later, gimme Seven Seats!

Saw a limo doing the rocking thing on Queens Blvd. a few years back... thought it was the potholes at first, but it continued to rock after it stopped at the light image

officially. But, it'll only take one time and I'd be off the boards so...

My track records been okay so far, so maybe one day I'll try it and see if anyone notices? ;-)

Off to the Salon' with the daughter! Have a wonderful day - no rockin' the Sube's!!

It would never play in primetime USA, but I could see it getting airplay in OZ and Europe.

Why no air it during "Desperate Housewives" I've actually been following that show, quite interesting :)

Sounds like a bad Jerry Springer episode (pardon the redundancy)

Seriously, if they run that ad, it will be the best ad since Joe Isuzu (nevermind his apparent failure to sell cars).

    Craig
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
actually Joe Isuzu v1.0 was a tremendous success. the Rodeo was the best-selling import SUV for a good while there.

when they brought him back a few years ago the magic was gone and the product lineup beyond repair.

run that sucker during "Desperate", and then again for the superbowl.
  • twrxtwrx Member Posts: 647
Hmm, does that mean Steve has been talking to Subaru about and iPod adaptor too?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Great chat, I got there early and was the 4th person, thought it would be slow.

No way! It picked up fast, we almost had the list of names scrolling.

And yes, Brenda did show up, in virtual jeans, not a wedding dress, and was showered with virtual gifts. The reception was great! :-)

Nah, then people would be calling the FCC and complaining that cars were moving in a suggestive manner and flashing their headlights.

CBS would maintain that they didn't know anything about it and would still get fined $500k per affiliate.

Yeah and Subaru could not call it a malfunction, they're too known for being reliable. ;-)

DANG! I so wanted to be there, but something came up at the last minute. Was anyone assigned to keep track of the "gifts"? Otherwise, how will the bride know who to thank for what? Plus, I'd love to know what they got!
  • rob_mrob_m Member Posts: 820
I gave virtual cash and a virtual card.

I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual open bar!
  • dcm61dcm61 Member Posts: 1,567
Anybody have a hangover this morning?

I couldn't get to the virtual bar, kept coming up as an empty node. Rob must have sucked it all into his machine. :)

Take some virtual tylenol and vitually call me in the morning. ;-)

(being Mr. Mom last night), but I left the virtual gift at home in my rush! Oh, well.... What I did catch in the last 15 minutes was fun.

    Have a good weekend, everyone!

I've also been watching "Desparate Housewives". I was weary of watching the pilot due to the title, but Kana got me hooked. It's a zany and witty comedy.

I read that several companies stopped advertising during the show because it was too "racy". Perhaps Subaru could buy a spot at a discount?

    Ken
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Doubled the advertising price from $150K to $300k per 30 seconds IIRC.

I have the Tivo record that, The Wire and Law and Order since I'm at work during the shows.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It's over-acted and not very believable but funny nonetheless.

Everyone's talking about it at the water cooler, though.

After watching it for the first time, that ad would indeed be understood by Desperate's viewers.

I think it's meant to not be believable, which i think is part of its charm, IMHO.

Loved the line about being known as the Mom of the boys who painted the little girl blue!! :-)

I think its also fun that i can relate a number of the characters to real neighbors, although no one has been digging up their pools.. (at least that i know of...)

There is tons of near-nudity, I mean lingerie and obscured shots. Imagine if it were on HBO!

Did anyone else catch the Legacy and OB write up in the Sunday NY Times Sports Section this weekend?

    (requires log-in)
    http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/24/automobiles/24AUTO.html

Overall a comprehensive write up. One interesting comment from the writer: "I found it easier to get the throttle response I wanted with the automatic." He was comparing a 5MT OBXT with a 5EAT LGT wagon.

    Ken
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
OB's suspension has more play, so its responses aren't as sharp as the Legacy's. It might have been the suspension more so than the tranny.

Throttle by wire works far better with an auto in my opinion. It has little "driver" benefit with a manual transmission. So that's probably what he noted. I also think the throttle response is better with the 5EAT, in either car.

  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
the torque converter's ability to freewheel a bit allows the turbocharger to spool faster. if you're cruising at low RPM and nail the throttle, this is immediately obvious.

    ~c
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
But doesn't the turbo require a load to spool? Does a TC freewheeling provide enough load?

Just curious if anyone has given any thought to doing the tour at SIA plant in the future. I know we had bad timing back in June, but I am curious if the group intends to try and give it another shot. Believe it or not, we are already looking at the '05 calendar at work for days off!

The only Subaru type of event I'm aware of at this time is the 48hrs run Jan 6 - 9.

That's a loooong drive with 2 kids. Their limit is about 3-4 hours before they get fussy and need to stop.

    Maybe if I had a Tribeca with a built-in DVD. :-)

  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
I know it is a long, direct drive. Maybe split it up over a couple of days? I'm just trying to get an idea.

I wish my wife's Maid of Honor still lived in Ohio. Two birds with one stone would be a strong reason to convince her.

in the SIA trip. I'd be going solo, so I'd make the drive down/over and back the same day.

I'd be interested still in the trip to the 'factory' ...

also .. I had hesitated to say it in the forum, but we had word about a month ago that my son-in-law (who was slated to go to Iraq in July and was for some unknown reason left on post with his family) was again scheduled to go within the first couple of weeks of November. My daughter and her boys were already planning to come stay with us - probably after Thanksgiving - until he came back.

She called today and left a message (again who can say what the logic of the US Army is) that for now .. he is again off the list to go ... that she's sorry she won't be seeing us every day .. but so happy he will be staying with his family ...

I do feel for all those families with loved ones in Iraq and elsewhere in the world, but I am selfishly glad that he is not going ... (atl least for now)

I believe it will not be available to the public for a bit. Since production will be starting on the new model, I think they shut it down. I'll check on when the shut down occurs and we can talk from there. Not sure if I can attend with the number of irons I have in the fire at work, but we'll see!

test results from NHTSA getting passed around today. CNN had a blurb and it was also on Good Morning America (I hear). We did very well!! Nothing like some positive news to get the blood flowing! I don't think I should do the link posting though. Not sure if it would be "appropriate"?

I believe someone linked one of the stories (CNN?) in the Subaru Legacy/Outback discussion.

    Try these:

Subaru Outback named safest vehicle (Big News Network)

    WQAD

    Dallas Morning News

I suppose there's a press release at NHTSA.gov and perhaps someone has a news link that's better that the overview ones I found.

    Mark,

I would love to do it. As per the last round, I would probably fly from NY to Chicago and rent a car.

    Brenda,

I don't see it as being selfish. What parent in their right mind would want to see their family caught up in this horrible mess?

    Steve
  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
    Brenda,

I'm glad to hear that your son-in-law is still stateside. You and your family must be going nuts with the "going/not going" every few months. Hang in there and we'll keep our fingers crossed.

  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
    Patti-

I was not sure if we would be allowed in with the new platform coming out. It seems that every time we try to plan this, Subaru decides to build a new model at SIA:-). It seems we are good for Subaru, and Indianna!
Maybe we can plan the trip for next fall, and SOA will announce it is building the B9 in Indianna at that time.

    Quadruple 5 stars.

Forester earned that too, actually, MY2003. So it actually accomplished that first.

Mark: following that very logic, let's plan tours for November, February, then May.

We'll have 3 new models by spring! ;-)
