Well It would appear that she has a badly deseased gallbladder, this apparently is what is causing the Pancreatitis, the surgeon said he would bet money that this what caused it last year as well. Rita wanted her tested last year as gall bladder desease is rampant in Rita's family.

All the females Rita included have had to have it removed, as a matter of fact Rita's grandmother died from complications.

Anne Marie also has a stone lodged in the bile duct, so they are going to wait another couple of days to see if the stone passes then they will take the gallbladder out. Also constant testing shows in liver function that the pancreatitis is spiking so they also have to get that under control before the blood acid level goes out of control like last time.

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishs they are truly appreciated, last year's episode is still fresh in our minds and we have no wish to repeat that.

    Cheers Pat.

That is great news in that they've found the cause. Keep your chin up. I'm sure she will get better now that they know what's causing the problem. :)

  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
Yep because last years episode was listed as cause unknown, now lets hope they get the pancreatitis under control before it causes a lot of grief.

    Cheers Pat.

Oh, been there, done that. I never want to be that sick again. Before taking out the little monster, they went after the stone down my throat with me only somewhat sedated. I can still remember every moment of that experience from three summers back. The stuff that nightmares are made of.....

Believe me, it give whole new meaning to the term 'open up your mouth, stick out your tongue, and say ahhhhhhh'. They then come at you with about three feet of light pipe grappling hook. You are supposed to be sedated to the point that you don't care, but I gagged and choked thru every last minute of it. Bad news when done by "amateurs".

I think it's good that they think they know the cause. I'm sure they can monitor it more closely and hopefully take care of it once and for all.

It looks like tomorrow they are going after the stone, poor girl they are now having trouble getting veins. They are talking central line in her neck as much for nourishment as for drugs.

She is not happy about the central line as she got a bad infection at the central line last year, they think this infection played some part in the damage to her eyes.

    Cheers Pat.

Well, I figure I'd break the cycle with some of my news, since I don't share much because there hasn't been anything exciting to share.... anyyywaaaayy...

As much as I like the Legacy Turbo, I was unable to purchase one because I DON'T FIT!. I tried to feel comfortable but it wasn't happening, which was :( for me because I really like them, but on a good note; I'm expecting my G35 6MT Sedan in the next 2 weeks (currently on ship) - Diamond Graphie w/ Graphite interior, Sport Suspension (included), Xenons, NAV, Premium Pkg A, Splash Guards, Trunk Mat & Trunk Net, at Invoice. I took advantage of the VPP program at my job before I move South. $33,842 before taxes & fees. Car is very comfortable and this 6MT model are hard to find.
I was looking into my favorite car, 300C, but I couldn't get anything close to invoice and the DC Rewards Program (also through my job) did not apply to the 300C. I was willing to sacrifice the 6MT if I got the 300C at a comfortable price but I know I'll enjoy 298HP of fun in the G35. Needless to say, I wrote to DC when I took one of their Rewards survey and told them how they missed a sale because of their limitations.

Anyway, on May 23, I'm going under the knife to remove my tonsils. They are the size of apples and they've been causing me to gasp for air when I sleep, among other things like irriation and discomfort... Couldn't do it when I was younger because of other health issues I was facing at the time (between life & death). Well, that's a 1-2 week recovery.

And last but not least, it's official, we'll become Georgians by the first week of June. My wife accepted the job transfer and we excited and ready for the move. So, in case you don't hear from me during this time (yeah, like you'll really notice), you'll know why... :)

Having said that, we're hoping the B9 gets to the dealer before we move. The company will pay for the transport to GA, but we'd rather have it first then waiting to see it over there.

    We'll see... :D

Congrats on the new car and the move! Please be sure to stop by the Prices Paid board and share your purchase experience.

As for the tonsils coming out...stock up on popsicles and take all the time you can for recovery!

Pat: here's a story that'll hopefully boost your morale.

I swear this is a true story. Sounds corny, but it's true.

When we think of our kids, and they're in pain, I swear the first thing I wish for is for that pain to transfer to me, the parent. We'd make any sacrifice for them, any parent can probably relate.

Well, I'm replacing the top on the Miata, and of course whenever I'm working on the cars I think of Mr. OCD himself, Pat. The way I lay out the tools, two desks to lay things out on, a PC with wi-fi to get help if and when needed, not to mention instructions.

Any how, so I'm getting along, about half way through the job, and I'm thinking so myself, "Huh, I've become Pat".

    *BOOOOOM*

Thunder. Big time. Then lightning. Then a down pour.

Keep in mind at this point the old top is completely removed. Naturally I panic to get everything under the car port.

I'm hoping that some how, some way, her misfortune did transfer to me.

Here's to hoping she starts feeling better, my friend.

Thank you for the morale booster, and I did get a chuckle visualising everything getting pitched hither and yonder to get that sucker under cover.

Incidently one thing I have to come clean about I am not a tidy worker, when I work, tools are all over hells half acre, it drives Rita nuts. But they all eventually make it back into my tool box. :)
    Cheers Pat.

Congratulations on the new car, too bad you were disappointed with the legacy but the G35 is not too shabby. Good luck with the tonsils that is a miserable surgery when you are an adult.

    Cheers Pat.

Pat: Just popped in and wanted to add somemore positive thoughts for Anne Marie.

Also a belated congrats to Ken for the marathon!! A twenty minute time increase is nothing considering what you went through. I've been in similar situations in much shorter races, and was lucky if I even finished!

Man, I have gotten so far behind in the 5 weeks since Heather arrived.
I took 3 weeks off scheduled around her intended delivery date months ago. Not that she bothered to respect our schedule or anything by arriving 2 weeks early. Anyway, when the boys were born, we were so short-staffed in the partnership that I didn't get any time off for 5 months. This time was just magical! Quality family time with her and the boys. Remarkable what that can do to improve ones' patience! We did have a little set-back there which bounced her into the hospital with dehydration and jaundice, but she recovered quickly and is now feeding very well and getting fat. We must have decided that life wasn't interesting enough, so we bought a new house too. It's just down our street, but much, much bigger with a bedroom upstairs for everyone. Still clearing that sale, and stressfull as it has been, the sudden realization that we need to do a dozen "small" fix-ups to get our house ready to sell is even worse. Any ideas how easy it is to keep a house in showing condition when it's inhabited by 3 six year old boys, a dog and a new baby??

And then...we got the news that a good friend had to have a bilateral mastectomy for cancer of the breast. Then I read about Anne-Marie. It doesn't add to the stress, it makes us remember to stop worrying about minor things and give thanks for what matters.

Pat - sending best thoughts to Anne Marie and your family. Take care.

    Yes.

When I had the loaner for 4 days, many onlookers did as well.

Besides, the look is more Alfa than it is Edsel.

Yo Bigelm, let me be the first to give you a "howdy ya'll" from GA! Looks like you'll be arriving just in time to enjoy the summer heat and humidity :shades: Seriously though, let me know if you need any info about Hotlanta and the surrounding environs.

Hey thanks Frank (and Karen - I saw your post ;) )

We've just confirmed our apartment in the Vinings. We'll be there for 1 year while our house gets built (presently looking at some subdivisions).

I'll give you a holla' once I get down there and familiarize myself with Hotlanta ;)

The top is on! Tons of work, not sure I'd ever do that again, but I got it on nicely. I'm sore and exhausted. And probably too drunk to actually test drive it.

I think if it breaks again I'll sell the Miata as-is. ;)

Looks great, though. And I got the kind with no zipper, so you just fold the top and go. It required some changes to the frame, but in the end it all worked out nicely.

Huh? Oh, sorry, dozed off there.

I'll try to get some pics. It'll be with the top up - the vinyl has to stretch out so I can't open it for a couple of days.

My daughter and I just participated in a joint activity between the local Jewish and Islamic community. Mitzvah Day and Ihsan Day began at the Jewish Community Center with Breakfast and speeches, and ended with closing prayers (readings from the Torah and Qur'an) and dinner at the Mosque.

The projects were mostly community cleanup work, but our group centered on an association we have with the County Elder Care program, so we did major restoration and upkeep work at the home of a 79 year old widow. And of course, it rained.... and rained.... Ever try to tame foot high grass in a downpour? Emily spent the day in the mud planting skids of annuals and perennials in the new front beds. Luckily, it was reasonably warm, and the sun came out strong at the end to help dry us out.

The OBW did it's part, hauling my landscaper trailer a good 80 miles today loaded with mower, tools, and a half ton of soil and mulch picked up at Agway. It will probably take me days to clean that poor car's interior!

Pat: Hopefully she'll be better once they remove her gallbladder. I'll remember to keep her and you in my prayers. It's hard being strong for others.

Elmer: Ooohh, be prepared to be, uh, uncomfortable for 1-2 weeks after the tonsillectomy. It's much easier as a child than an adult. Well, hopefully you'll breathe better too!

Bob: Lot's of sunblock!!! Or wear a helmet with a wide brim. :)

Juice: I am always tempted to get a Miata just for fun. One of these days I might just bring one home and surprise my wife. How much to ship yours to Seattle? But maybe I'll get a hardtop with it. ;)

Hope everyone is well. I'll try to check in from time to time!

Thought I'd run this up the flag pole and see if it's of any interest before creating one here.

A couple of months ago the Dakota guys requested a topic devoted to "MPG-Real World Numbers". With the ever climbing price of fuel, I'm seeing a lot of new people frequently asking about MPG. Would the Crew be interested in a topic focused just on reporting their Subaru MPG?
  • njswamplandsnjswamplands Member Posts: 1,760
sure that an synthentic oil which appears in many threads.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Sure, why not. It is timely, and people are always curious as to what Subies get, especially since they are "4-wheel-drive," AKA, a gas hog (at least in the minds of some). A thread like this could help blow that myth out of the water.

    Bob
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Interesting idea. Actually, this morning I heard a short segment on news radio about consumers complaining how their real-world mpg doesn't reflect the EPA estimates. The segment went on to talk about the outdated methods used by the EPA to estimate gas milage and that a 10-15% difference is to be expected.

    Ken
  • bigelmbigelm Member Posts: 995
You're not the only one, based on consumer complaints and media, the average of what EPA publishes have been overestimated and consumers are pointing the finger at car manufacturers for not coming clean.

Honda has been one of them and a few others. So EPA needs to get their crap together otherwise there could be some legal issues evolving.
