according to consumer reports (2000) you are out of luck. Hight is going to be the problem. Their "maximum cargo box" figure is 57x37x28 (LxWxH).

I did call this afternoon and verified that my car is subject to the recall. I am now authorized to take the Forester into any dealer to have the oxygen sensor replaced. Again, I have to say that I'm lucky that I've never experienced the CEL problem that many others have, but preventive maintenance almost always pays off in the long run.

Now I have to deal with a winter's worth of stone chips and scratches in the leading edge of the hood - ugh...I'll follow up on that over in Maintenance and Repair.

    Thanks,
    Ed

Thanks Ross. I figured someone here would have the info, rather than waiting till I got home to measure. It sounds like it might have fit in a Forester. Oh, well.

    Got my Drive last week.

I also had to resubscribe to all the Subaru Crew topics.

That's at least 2 things to talk about during tonights chat...

Has anyone NOT received their O2 sensor recall notice. It seems that everyone I know with a 2000 Subaru who should receive a notice has received one except me. Patti, have all the recall notices been sent out? Should I just call my dealer and ask them what gives? or should I be patient and wait...I have a 2000 Outback wagon.

    thanks to all, great site!

I spoke to a rep today...she was going to make sure that the Drive Magazine people have us on the subscription list..PS...do you have any WRX posters available...Mikey loves that car and told Susan that if I get one, I have to take him to school so all his buddies can see that he has a KEWL dad!!!! Right now, she takes him to school because she has the nice car..boy they become fashion conscious at a young age...he is only 11.

I have a '00 OB and haven't received any recall notice. (knocking on wood) our OB has been fine. I think mine was built in May '00.

I think Patti said that they're rolling out the notices in stages, rather than ALL at once.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Still no Drive. Heck, still no Winter (!) edition for me. I fired off an e-mail to Patti. I'd love a poster too!

Can't make the chat tonight, but they've been quite active since the WRX launch, so try to make it folks.

Sorry I've been inactive - we're replacing 152 computers in a "bulldoze" project here at work. In four days!

Please scroll up to messages 2373, 2403 and see my conversation. Patti had me call 800-SUBARU3 and confirm that my 2000 Forester fell within the scope of the recall, even though I haven't received the letter either. Verify that your OB falls within the scope and you should be able to take it in for the repair as well.

    Hope this helps,
    Ed

They are still rolling out the notices. If you haven't gotten a notice and are going in for service, call your dealer and tell them you want it done. If you get ANY hassle - let us know. We have enough parts now that can get the job done.

    Glad to be of assistance!

Juice- Actually having to work? Oh horrors!!!

Patti- Careful about agreeing to give out WRX posters. If the word gets out you'll be inundated with requests. But if you do decide to, I'm 3rd in line after Juice and Serge :-)

Got my spring addition last week. I was able to use the user name and Vin number provided on the mailing label to registar my 96 Outback on mysubaru.com. I wonder why some people get Drive and others do not?

I just found out. All my Subaru Crew subscriptions were blown away! I guess the renaming did it...

*groan* Now I'm off to fix them all. Edmunds, please, can we keep this kind of occurance to a minimum? This is a pain in the you-know-what.

I have now officially joined the Sub family as some of you know from the chat. I pick up my new OB on Monday eve. Can't wait. Maybe now I can start contributing a little to the forums. Thanks all for the information, support and wonderful (and funny) discussions. I will follow with first impressions, and maybe even get Drive!

Greg- LOL! Welcome to the Subaru family. I can tell already that you'll fit in nicely.

Frank - even worse - I'm on a compressed work schedule, 9 hour days with 1 day off every two weeks, and so I'm actually working on what is supposed to be my day off!

I should be waxing Sandy right now!

Congrats Greg! Winestone, too, just like my dad's.

Yes, expect the onset of OCD, and adopt puppies (kittens are OK too). Then buy a Mac and go hiking and camping. You will gain an appetite for Rally Bread and start speaking with an Aussie accent, to boot.

Congrats again, Dave. I mean Greg.

Frank and Da...Juice. How about bunnies?? Our bunny is the test for larger pets - kids are failing the "take care of" test though. Well at least I have hockey equipment to throw in the back. That fits the OB image, right? I'll work on the hiking and such. Have OCD down pat.

Juice-- you did mean one EXTRA day off every two weeks, right? 9x5, then 9x4. You aren't working 13 consecutive 9 hour days... are you?

I used to work that schedule, liked it a lot. Now I work 8x5 and also whenever else is needed, but get 100% comp time. It's kinda nice, considering as a salaried employee they aren't actually obligated to give me any comp time at all.

Leaves me plenty of time for my personal life and my Scooby.

Did you say Hockey??? Works for me!! Welcome to the Subaru family!

Davetta (aka Patti - I'm trying to fit in!)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yes, Hockey qualifies. Anything with ice or snow. You're in!

Yes Colin, 1 extra day, so I work 9 days every two weeks. It's the only way I can get car-related stuff done, since the wife wants help with the kid on Sat/Sun.

But my boss says I'm not working much at all...

arg, let's not mention hockey. I am mad enough that none of the Edm/Dal games have been on ESPN since game 2 and then Dallas wins in OT last night. SJ and Buffalo lost too! oh the humanity... ;-)

Just to clarify. I do not have ready access to posters :>(

I might be able to direct someone to a source if you want one, but check with your dealers first.

    Sorry!

Thank you. So far Colonial Subaru CT seems very professional. Can't wait to get my first issue of Drive. I assume it comes automatically.

    Hey Juice,
Welcome to the real world. I started my own business 14 yrs ago so I could take off whenever I want. Yeah right! Now I put in 10-12 hr days 6&7 days a week. Is your company hiring?

I was at a light yesterday, when a Honda Qualude SH (riced out to the max) pulled up on my left. When the light turned green he took off .. I stomped the Rex and blew past him like he was sitting still. I love this car !!!!!!!!

    Welcome Greg!

Did you read your manual?... had to ask :) It helps determine if you can truly qualify for the OCD support group.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yeah, we outsource all our actual work! ;-)

Easy during the break in. Keep it at no more than 4k rpm, and drive smoothly, but vary speeds (no cruise for now).

It takes what seems like forever but it's worth it in the long run.

Okay. After all these weeks of scanning the roads, I FINALLY saw a WRX outside of the showrooms. Actually, it was in the parking lot across the street from my office, but hey, a sighting is a sighting. It was a black sedan. Now I've gotta walk over during lunch!

I went to the Devlis - Hurricanes game last night. Arturs Irbe is one impressive little guy. As for me I can't seem to pick a winner; I'm an American who's an Ottawa Senators fan!

too bad about those senators :)

    Go Leafs!

Cant't believe the Devils lost again. Oh well. I was playing a game myself last night when something when one of my muscles went pop and I was out. Getting old! I hope the seats on my new OB are comfortable.

P.S. you guys are on early!

Serge, I think the vernacular is "k3wl dad". :) Chat (IIRC the source of k3wl) is another nail in the coffin of the Queen's English.

Just wanted to say thanks to Paisan and crew who recommended Flemington Subaru. I had a great experience there today, which I posted under Dealers & Pricing. Now I'm ready for the covered bridge tour!

I finally saw a WRX on the road. Exit 4 NJTP 5pm sat. BRP in color. I beeped, anyone here?

I auto-xed today. Beat the 2 guys with WRXs which was a nice feeling, although they are novices so I fully expect them to whoop my butt in a few weeks. I definitely feel I'm getting better, brake early and gas through the turns is my new motto!
