Cliffy would know...care to chime in?

I am looking to buy a 2000 CE -5dr with the CE extra value package. Not sure if I can get a 2000 CE any more. Would like to know what is a good price to pay for this and a recommendation on the best place to buy in and around the Worcester, Massachusetts area. Should I be wait till the Torque Converter problem is solved? Thanks for all the great info. on this site.
Thanks
I did get the "just because you saw it on the internet doesn't mean it's available" line. I wish I had printed out the Sienna page from the toyota web site. A brochure would have made my point as well, but since they were out I couldn't use that. I actually got a brochure that I had requested from toyota.com a couple days after we bought our van. Funny how that worked out.
I think someone on one of the other Sienna forums posted a message about buying after-market alloys and saving the steel wheels for snow tires.
Other than not getting the wider tires/wheels, we really like the van.
quotes on the 2000 Toyota Sienna XLE with the XLE luxury package. I
understand that the base invoice price for the Toyota Sienna XLE is $23,930.
Does anyone know what the invoice price is for the XLE luxury package?
I'd like to be able to site the entire invoice price (with luxury package)
in my letter. Thanks for any help you can give!
I think that the rebate $700 is a regional rebate. I think Toyota owes customers in L.A. something because Toyota does not ship LEs with a power sliding door. We here either buy XLE or go to north to buy LE if we insist to have a power sliding door.
Tony
Destination Charge: $ 480
LL Luxury Package : $ 2,298
You'll probably also want the GN Cargo Net ($30) and the EF Bumper Protector ($36)

Relax. I bought a Sienna XLE in July with a June 2000 manufacture date. Just turned 1000 miles this weekend with zero problems.
Yes, they do have an issue with the torque converter/solenoid in a very small percentage of their vans that were manufactured the past few months.
Toyota is standing behind their product, they are doing everything they can (from what I've seen) to make sure that they get the problem fixed right the first time.
While it sucks that your van is one that was hit with this issue I think some caution is advised before you start declaring that *all* Siennas are lemons.
Good Luck!

I was really annoyed about the TDA and tried hard to get out of it but they wouldn't budge. So I got an OK deal, but not great. There didn't seem to be a lot of Siennas available from the local dealers.
I should have tried the e-mail approach but I'm on vacation and wanted to get the car asap.
Got financing from PeopleFirst.com, they're GREAT.
Highly recommended.
Thanks to all sienna
and Ody owners "Teach"
I'm pricing 2001 LEs right now - don't have all the prices in yet but I have received offers less than $1,100 over invoice. Once I make the final deal I'll publish the numbers.
They came in with a very nice price and threw in "lifetime" oil changes (That means "six"!).
2000 LE (Sailfin Blue) with TO, UN, and EF
Invoice 23,063.-
TDA 399.- (if you recognize it)
"profit" 85.-
========
My price 23,547.-
Out the door (@ a monstrous 8.5% sales tax) $25,660
Anyhow, I dealt with Jorge Cordero, a real good fellow.
They didn't load on the fees, either. The documentation fee was all of 10 bucks, and the only other fee was a $20 service charge to register for me.
Good luck
Could someone please give me tips on how to get quotes from dealers on the 2001 Toyota XLE or LE. The 2 dealers that I have contacted so far don't seem to be willing to give out any numbers over the phone. The internet sites that send quotes do not have anything on 2001 models yet.
Also if you could tell me where to find the dealer's invoice price for the 2001 Sienna model.
Any negotiation tips would really help.
Thanks a lot
just signed a deal for a 2000 CD 4dr with extra value pkg--cruise, dual air duct, deep tinted window and CD(not sure this?) for 22122 at crement toyota in Wayne. This is their ad, but we intended for a le and they only have this and an xle(with lether ect, List price 30K. The munufacturing date is Jun, I hope this one fine. The finance they offer is 8.9%, I'll go with other lenders. It's sand/oak.
doc fee 169, title&licence 119,
and they cahrged 169 for window eitching existed.
if not have cd, the profit is 583 above invoice. if have CD, then $360.
Seems OK?
My husband and I just purchased a 2000 Sienna LE with LE Extra Value Package (UN) and the rear bumper protector (EF). We love it and we got a good deal at Classic Toyota in Waukegan, IL. The dealer quoted us a price of $23,291 (which includes the $480 destination charge) plus tax (5.5%), transfer of title from our trade-in ($25.00), and a documentary fee ($48.30). Including the $48.30 doc fee (added dealer profit!), we paid 1.8% over the total invoice for this vehicle ($22,455). Not sure how much dealer holdback they got in addition, but I got the impression from them that this dealership is one that makes the bulk of its profit from Toyota for selling large quantities of their vehicles, which enables them to give individual customers good deals.
Despite our getting a good deal, there's still a slight sour taste in my mouth. Our initial price quote via the internet sales team was $23,095 (not including EF), but when we arrived to have our trade-in appraised, the price magically inflated to $23,325. The reason we were given for the price increase was VERY suspicious: They claimed the specific vehicle that was coming in was newer within the 2000 model year, and that there are quarterly price increases by the manufacturer to dealer as the production year progresses. I haven't found anything to support this claim on this or other web sites. (Has anybody heard of this?) As it turned out, the vehicle that arrived the next day was the wrong color, and we found out in a roundabout way that it had a couple of features that we hadn't wanted (center console box and the rear bumper protector). Needless to say, we didn't take that vehicle, and I now suspect that the added features (which the salespeople never informed us about) plus a desire for greater profit (imagine that!) accounted for the price increase. I have to say I would much more appreciate a dealer simply telling me straight that they need more profit in order to make the deal than to try pulling things over on me. In any case, in the end we chose to move forward on the deal at $23,291 because it was still much lower than the True Market Value recommended on Edmunds.com.
In case anyone is interested, I used the blanket email approach that others have talked about to get price quotes from dealers within a 100 mile radius. We chose Classic Toyota because theirs was the best quote. I didn't specify what I was willing to pay, instead asking for their best price. Also, I sent each message individually rather than including all of the recipients' addresses in the header. In an earlier post, someone suggested doing it individually so as not to make price fixing an easy option for them to pursue. This seemed to work very well, and I will do it again the next time we buy a new car. In the meantime, we'll enjoy our beautiful new Napa Burgundy 2000 Sienna LE! If I can manage to get it up our driveway and into our narrow garage doors without smashing the side mirrors, I'll be even happier. So far so good!
Cheers,
Heather

Before buying our Sienna, we were going back and forth between the Grand Voyager (very much like the Grand Caravan) and the Sienna. While the $3000 rebate for the Voyager was very appealing (and I don't know what the rebate would be for the Dodge), I think what made the difference for us was the better crash test results, the newer, more streamlined look, and the more refined feel inside the Sienna. On the other hand, the Grand Caravan is bigger and thus has more cargo capacity.
$22,600 sounds great, especially if it includes some extra features-- does it? The base invoice on that one is $22,148 so at $22,600 with no extra features the dealer is getting about 2% over base invoice.
I may be biased but I say go for the Sienna!
Is it really cheaper than go to a dealership ?
Pardon me if I ask some novice queston.
What is the options: TO, UN, EF and GN ?
Thanks
I heard Longgo Toyota in LA is good ?
Any comments ?
Thanks,
So it seems like that is the best price for the 2001 XLEs right now.
We started out looking for a 2000 in mid-july but decided to pass on a dealer trade that would have put on 400 miles to bring it in from MN. We are soooo glad!
Our 2001 XLE w/ LL and UH (the new XLE ID for towing pkg)is GREAT!
Someone had posted that the new dash has stainless steel accent...no, it is an accent that closely matches the lower outside panel. Another post said the new lower panel color on the XLE would "disappear" with the Desert Sand...NOT! It is a very rich look and I am most happy with the decision to get Desert Tan.
We did notice a most positive difference in the
new engine, an A+ addition to the XLE.
This site helped us plan out a well thought purchase at an excellent price.
Thanks
Odyssey. Anybody knows a good dealership around
my area? Toyato of Plano quoted me a 2000 Sienna LE with UN and TO for 24,500. For Ody LX, I
would pay 23,840(MSRP+destination). I don't
care much about the size. I am more looking into
price,reliability, and dealership services.
Welcome any suggestions. Thanks.
Glad you like it, enjoy your Sienna!

As I said, it was well worth our trip to Milwaukee.
I bought our LE in November and paid the holdback after kicking and screaming. Still got an excellent deal but now see the November deal is being beat at the end of model year. that is what you get for buying at the beginning of the model year. Good luck. the Town Hall really helps. keep checking back, especially as you get closer to buying time.

Anybody has any idea about advertising cost?
We are in San Jose, CA.

Do you think this feature is worth waiting for?
Anyone also shopping for the traction control feature?
Thanks for your reply.
Vehicle skid control senses body sway and wheel position and applys braking action to help minimze the effects of the skid.
I was also hoping to see the 2001 with traction control, apparently Toyota doesnt see the need.
1. he noted that in the DC area, only 10% of trhe XLEs are coming with VSC and these have the luxury package.
2. You cn get it if you special order, but there are many downsides to this approach.
3. The VSC has 3 components, one of which is a traction control as describe above. (I will not eloborate more; if he has time, his explanation would be helpful here....)
4. I thinks it is worth the money, but I also had to decide it was worth the 6-12 week wait.
Dave
