Steve, Host
is around 20,658. When I presented this to the local dealer. He said this is impossible and he
showed me his invoice for a CE, which is 22400. Why do they have different invoices? Anyone has the similar experience?
Some dealers have been known to create dummy invoices....
Those who have seen different invoice prices than what we show, please use the Contact us link and report it for review and correction. Thanks!

I copied this form my note. Maybe there is some typos, but I listed all terms. Is it a normal invoice? Thanks in advance.
Thanks a lot
Afterwards I figured out the pricing included some form of markup. During some follow up phone negotiations I pointed this out. I was then told their invoice is what the owner charges the sales department internally and the owner won't let them sell for less.
So the sales tactics used were: raise doubt about the accuracy of the pricing which weakens the buyers position. When that fails, direct blame on a 3rd party (the mean owner) and then try to generate sympathy (were all victims of the mean owner).
80% of the time these techniques probably work. I had been fooled by the online price vs the dealer price game before so I walked.
Alloy wheels of the same size/width are generally lighter weight than the steel wheels. So there might be some very very small improvements in ride and handling. You would be very hard pressed to tell the difference in daily driving though. So in general they aren't worth the extra money unless you really like the way the vehicle looks with the wheels.
If the alloy wheels are wider and/or the tires are wider there will be a more noticeable improvement in handling at the expense of a firmer ride. In this case I prefer the improvement in handling but I would still go with after market wheels and tires. You can get much better looking wheels and performing tires than what Toyota puts on.
I found CE Package #1(AF). It includes a tinted
window. Is it a basic CE package free of charge?
I am really confused about that?
Thanks again
Package #1(AF) - standard CE NO OPTIONS
Package #2(AG) - includes cruise control & roof rack
Package #3(AL) - cruise, roof rack, Stability&Traction, rear disc brakes, windshield de-icer, day run lights, side&curtain airbags
I love every thing about my XLE Limited. I just can not believe that they do not have driver seat memory buttons.....
You are in the major area where I purchased my Sienna from. My price of $35,414 did include that Document and TDA fees, 30 day DMV temp, Delivery.
The Dealer stated that they were running a one weekend only special of up to $1,000 matching cash rebate. Since I financed through my credit union at 2.99% the entire transaction was considered CASH.
Lastly I used a Auto Broker to locate and negotiate this deal, so it is unknown if this was a special price provided only to the broker.
If you find this same dealership, they might be offering $36,414 due to the expired rebate offer.
Hope that helps.
over invoice, which is 22,500 for CE. I need pay 6.025% taxes and other fee. It is a good deal? How can I bargain with dealer further?
glm123: all the CEs have the green tinted glass that isn't as dark as the privacy glass on the LEs. The LEs and up also have a different windshield glass that is supposed to help reduce heat from sun light.
Anyone with any thoughts? Thx

Got my deal at $600.00 over invoice. Over $5000 off MSRP!
Oh how I enjoyed emailing the other dealers who laughed at me when I requested my original quote........
Happy to share my experience with anyone who would like the details, or is in the Phoenix area needing a Sienna.
So DAVENOW, Impact, and many others - THANK YOU.
and also a big thank you to everyone who contributes to these boards. It certainly has made an absolute difference in they way my whole car buying experience has gone...
You guys & gals all rock !!
I expect our new gray bundle of joy in 6-8 weeks..
I'll have the cigars ready for all of you.
Steve_HOST - get a Sienna.
i live in southern colorado and the dealer here has added their extra MSRP sticker for an additional
$3000!!!!!. thats over Toyota's MSRP so an LE is around $33000. I told them last summer that I could get one online for about $1000 over toyotas MSRP and they said "youd better buy it"
Im willing to drive many miles to save big bucks.
Nickles--Id like to know which dealer you talked to in Arizona.
Thanks!!
Feel free to email me
guilolightcircle@hotmail.com
As guilo commented, Colorado dealers are unlike those where you live. I have had similar experience as guilo in the Denver area. I don't even like to "window shop" as the last Toyota salesman and a cohort were obnoxious and pushy just last Saturday...unlike one at the same dealership about 6 months ago. I lost his card and could not remember his name.
There is one excellent salesman at the Honda dealership not far from Toyota that was pleasant before the new 2004 Sienna arrived. That is why the Honda Odyssey is now a more likely purchase when I get ready than the Sienna. I would probably buy a Sedona before a Sienna if there isn't another pleasant Toyota salesman when I need my next new vehicle.
I don't care how superior a vehicle is if the salesman and dealership are jerks.
Congrats man. Sounds like a heckuva a deal. Did you let your salesman know that you already had a deposit down on a Quest SE? That may have helped in your negotiations.
Wife and I can't quite make up our mind between an LE w/ pkg#4 (airbags/Trac/VSC) or an XLE w/ pkg#12 (safety items plus heated leather). I'm leaning towards the XLE since it seams the dealers are actually starting to....deal.
Has anyone seen the dark blue ("stratosphere mica") in person? It looks like it could be a stunning color.
I wonder why a lot of people dont seem to be choosing the DVD player option? Am I the only one with young kids?
Congrats on the new Sienna (and the deal)!
Steve, Host
In fact, he gave me excellent guidance on what I need to do should Nissan not want to refund my deposit.
Actually just spoke to Nissan today, and they have already credited my credit card!
Have you test drove both models ? I didn't step into an LE, so I don't know what it's like.. But the XLE I drove was beatuifully appointed.. the woodgrain accents, leather etc.. I think there may be some interior 'upgrades' when moving from an LE to an XLE . ?
Have also sent a couple of emails to those Toy dealers in MD and IL as explained in earlier posts, for the Plantinum Toyota service contract.. (weedshasta/davenow) -- will let you know how that turns out.
Guilo,
The whole reason my Quest wasn't going to be delivered until MAY was because I opted for the TWO DVD players. This is factory installed, and there was not one Quest availale with that option
my dealer had a couple other Quest SE's on the lot, they had EVERYTHING i needed except that 2nd DVD player.
Nissan needs to be taught a lesson by this, as I think they already have by the slumping sales..
anyway, I am sure there are others out there who MUST have the DVD option.. (we have 2, soon to be 3, kids)
Also - i also spoke to my Toyota guy and he said you don't even have to come down, he'll transport it up to you in CO.
That Strato Mica color I have not seen in person.. But By looking at pictures on the web, it doesn't seem to be consistent (some have been too dark, too light etc..) - I wouldnt imagine it's anything fancy, because it doesnt have an addition pain cost like the Arctic Frost.
In the end only you can decide what color you want. I suggest doing an inventory search on the web of your local dealers to see who has a stratosphere Sienna and check it out - on Sunday if you don't want to be bugged. The little color chip in the brochure or on the web can be deceptive.
In the end, we are very happy with our new Odyssey. Any comments?
We started with an Autofair price (about $1000 off MSRP) and my wife then called various dealers to see if they could beat the price. After a couple of days we ended up with Toyota of Acton, Toyota of Watertown and Toyota of Attleboro (Boston, MA area) with very similar prices.
The lowest bid:
Toyota Sienna XLE#12 N1, WH and Z1
MSRP: 33,230
OTD Price: 29,995 + TTL
One comment: Calling around for price was so much better than negotiating in the dealership.
It took 2 weeks to get the Sienna from another dealership.
after much thought this is what we went with:
Sienna LE 7 Passenger
Color: Salsa Red w/Fawn Interior
Package BZ#9 - Curtain Airbags, Factory DVD, Wheels, etc
Package Z1 - Matts, sill protect,etc
plan on adding Splash Guards and Hood Protector
We'll be travelling about 2.5 hours to pick it up and its gonna take 3-6 weeks to come in. It's well worth the drive though as dealers in my area wanted sticker price or just under.
I've never bought a brand new Toyota so I've always wondered why there are complaints about how they package options together, etc. Well now I understand. Unless you get lucky, odds are slim you are going to get exactly what you want without getting something you don't want or just go without it. In our case, we ended up going without. We really hoped for traction control and were willing to pay for it. With kids we also wanted factory DVD. Curtain airbags were a mandatory option for us over all else. Well the only way to get all that was with the 8 passenger model which we decided against.
I'm not complaining too hard though. If packaging stuff the way they do makes them more efficient which makes them priced better and makes them assembled more reliably then I can live with that. I know we have a great vehicle coming!
Picking a color was tough for us. I wanted light colors that would stay clean longer (silver, etc) and my wife wanted dark colors such as red and strat blue. I did see a strat blue one by the way on the road and have to say it didn't do much for me. To me it makes the Sienna lose some of its 'presence' and actually looks smaller. I saw a red one waiting at a bus stop the other day and I actually turned around to go check it out up close (made about 10 kids clear the road for me twice - once each way!). I did like it more than I thought I would. Its definately different than most vans out there yet isn't too flashy at all, a pretty dark red. So thats what we went with.
We're excited. After the big analysis to pick it I'm now having a hard time moving on!
You put the DVD in and push the DISC button on dash until it reads AUX. This way, you can also plug in the Gamecube or Playstation from your house in 115V outlets and plug in audio/video jacks to van directly and play on DVD screen. It's way cool!!! The service advisor learned from me figuring it out how to get audio sound from factory DVD player. Hope this helps somebody so they don't have to go through the same thing I did.
I used to be in the tire business years ago, and I can tell you that Dunlops are a better choice than those Bridgestones. I would gladly swap you for your Dunlops, as I believe the XLEs only come with the Bridges ? anyway, my first choice is always Pirelli, but I'll have to wait 30-35K miles before I swap them out.
IMO you got a good set with the Dunlop SP Sport 4000.
Michelin your just paying for the name, and some of the advertising with the baby in the tire. not worth the money.
Also - Dunlop is a much easier company to work with should you have issues/problems with warranty etc...
Bondguy - you mention your factory DVD player is NOT wired through your radio ? I never go into this feature with my test drive.. are you saying that normal operation is by tuning through your your radio?
can anyone summarize what the possibilities are?
As recommend in earlier posts (by weedshasta) - KC Summers Toyota is who quoted me.
I submited a simple email inquiry from their website, and within about 2 hours, I got a personal reponse back from the finance manager his word below -
"I have been pricing the 7 yr, 100,000 platinum at $795. This coverage is through Toyota and is good at any Toyota dealership. If you would like
the warranty, I will need the VIN #, Name, Address, Phone # and exact miles."
I have the email should anyone like to take advantage of this as well !
Host steve - OK to post the above 'quoted words' I assume ?
Oh - BY THE WAY - Congrats KW ! That Salsa Red is a sharp color.. someone commented about the 'rare' Aspen Green.. That was the model I had tested overnight.. It was nice, but I didn't love it.
Leesburg, congrats on the van. Someone posted today or yesterday that Toyota was going to simplify the option packages. Naturally I can't find the post now.
Kksdad (why do I want a Krispy Kreme every time I see a post of yours?), often OEM tires are not the best. Maybe Nickles can verify. Some dealers and/or tire companies will swap new tires for an upgraded set, so that may be worth looking in to before putting any miles on the OEM ones.
Steve, Host
I don't even own a DVD, but that was the only way to get the 6CD on the AWD. I'll have to have my 4 year old grandson show me how to work the DVD. I am retired, and 95% of my driving is back and forth to Sacramento to see my family. It is a 6CD trip, and I don't have to fumble with the player while driving. I would have liked to get the side airbags, but couldn't afford two option packages. I almost never have passengers - just a lot of "stuff" to haul around.
The AWD only comes with the Dunlop run flat tires, and I am hearing bad things about them. I am assuming that all 4 tires on the car have to be the same? People on other conversations are saying that they will switch to regular tires, but can you do it one at a time if they go flat? If you switch to regular tires, will the tire pressure warning system still work? I believe that I saw somewhere that the spare holder underneath was a dealer installed option. So if I go to regular tires, can I get this so that I won't have to keep a spare inside?
We would then mount & balance the customer's new choice of skin.
I would recommend doing this yourself AFTER taking delivery of the vehicle. 98% of the time we would invoice the DEALER, and the dealer would then markup, and collect from the customer.
The Dunlop run-flats are only available on the 17" tire option AWD Siennas. They will cost you close to $200 a piece should you need to replace one. Frankly, I don't know why the put the runflats on this vehicle.. They are made to hold air until you get to a tire dealer for a proper repair or replacement.
Secondly, unless Dunlop is offering free road-hazard replacement (doubt it), your not covered under any type of warranty (most flats/blowouts occur when some sort of unwanted contact is made with the tire and another object).... Unless, of course you have Firestones on your Explorer
The runflats will have no effect on your TPMS at all. the 'run-flat' The sensor doesn't know if you have runflats or not. (the 'runflat' characteristics are built INSIDE the tire, not anywhere on the outside, that would interfere with a monitoring system.
There are a wide variety of Tires made in this size for the Sienna. I am NOT a fan of Bridgestones, and as a matter of fact, they are the cheapest selection of the bunch ( >$75.00 each ).
I just very may offload these and get the Pirelli P6's right off the start.
For those that desire to make the switch, again, your better off doing it yourself. just make sure you baby the vehicle while at the tire shop, and insist on driving it in and out of the bay yourself (you don't want any grease marks on that nice new interior!)
Then, you can sell your OEM take-offs at auction online somewhere.
Reality, we should be having this convo in the Nissan Z forum or someplace.. it's a minivan folks! (oh my goodness i own a minivan now... what has happened)
I have a very biased opinion on tire brands, so this is why I am a bit picky. but the average Joe will be fine regardless the brand. I don't know if the runflats are an option, but if they are, my advise would be to NOT get them, simply because of price. They are unnecessary, and replacement costs are high - and to answer another question - for 4WD and AWD vechicles, no matter what anyone else says, it is ALWAYS optimal to have all 4 tires match. same tread pattern, speed rating etc...
Toyota has a history of OEM relations with Continental & Dunlop. Bridgestone I think is new in the mix - and I highly doubt anyone will take delivery of any Michelin's or Goodyears (although they ARE made in that size (225/60/17).
My feeling is the AWD will have the Dunlop SP Sport 4000 RunFlats (by default), the 17" LE & XLE's FWD will either have the Bridgestone Turanza, or the Continental Touring Contact.
At the risk of getting off topic, I'd glady further discuss tires off line - my email is visible in my profile.
Oh - Weedshasta - no you can not use one of the regular tires as your spare. the temporary spare is mounted on a wheel that is much smaller and narrower in width that the standard size tire for the vehicle..
plus, with the extra meat on it, it wouldn't fit in the spare well compartment at all.
Leesburg, congrats on your Honda. There is never going wrong with a Honda that is for sure.
I will be selling my CRV before picking up our Sienna, I will be very sorry to see it go. It sounds like we had very similar needs and chose different paths. We are paying $26,700 for our red LE with package BZ#9 and you are paying $26,600 for your red Oddy w/dvd and traction. You get traction, dual power doors and a power seat and I get curtain airbags, rear windows that go down and a 60/40 rear seat. There are also plenty of minor feature comparisons which could be made. So I think we both had the same tough decisions to make to stay in our price range. For us it was more how much Sienna we could afford, and not actually a direct comparison to the Honda. But I'm really glad we made the choice we did though. No offense but I think the refinements of the Sienna over the Odyssey are gonna make it easier to live with for the 10 years or so plan on keeping it. But you get to drive yours tomorrow and I get to wait a few weeks.
BUT, maybe those that are buying or soon to take delivery can take better advantage of this advice! Check them out as you do your final "walk-around", they're easy to overlook, especially when they're "shiny and new" and all you're really looking for are scratches, dents, and other imperfections; like Steve says, maybe you can do something about them BEFORE you get home. Seems to me, for $30K+++, a "highly rated" minivan should have "highly rated" tires! (my 6-year old would be "flattered" to know you're thinking of HER and one of her favorite foods, especially the "glazed raspberry filled"!!!)
I have read several posts where OTD seems to include the price + TTF which to me seems less accurate than the Total including all fees, am I missing something with this?
Anywho, we purchased a Salsa Red XLE Limited Pkg#2 / floor mats / mud guards / toyogaurd / GAP insurance / 7yr-100k Gold Plus warranty and TTF for $35501.65 OTD. The price, $34233.15 OTD ($300 over invoice) was reached prior to a visit to the dealer and included transferring the van from `200 miles away. We added the GAP and warranty at signing. MSRP was $36216.06
From re reading a few posts back we paid a little much for the warranty ($997) as I was not prepared but wanted the extended warranty anyway. It allows you to cancel within 60days for a 100% refund.
Comments from various posts:
weedshasta - I wouldn't think not having matched tires would prevent the pressure warning system from working as it operates on pressure alone.
Nickles - Please send the email about the ext. warranty. I'm going to check into it even though we already bought a lessor warranty for more money.
Tires - We have Bridgestone Turanza's and looking at the ratings I'm not sure these tires are going to be very good! TW320 / Temp B / Trac B
DVD options - I'm sure everyone is aware of the portable DVD players available but I can vouch that it is very nice to be able to use the DVD player wherever without being limited to the XLE. Vacations, Dr. appointments and even at home are a few reasons we decided to forgo the $1499 option and paid $299 for a portable. Something to think about.
Lastly, to all those GM of dealerships out there. If your sales people have worked their tail off for a customer don't jump in and heavy hand the deal for $250 bucks. You would have had a sale otherwise!
...and welcome to the "darkside..."
Most likely I will buy it. I have a 2001 Volvo and bought the ext. for $2000. That was a year ago and its paid for itself well over.
Also, anyone have problems with aftermarket DVDs.
Thanks
Nofeer, You can purchase an extended warranty anytime before the Toyota, 3yrs/36k miles runs out.
We have used it almost every weekend since we got the van, and it has worked flawlessly!
Picture quality much beeter than expected, and not too difficult to figure out how to use it.
I haven't seen surround mentioned but we did get the JBL 10 speaker system. May have been a marketing twist or sales speak somewhere.
The price for the warranty goes up the longer you wait to buy it but can be purchased from toyota up to 3yr/36K miles. We paid $997 and it appears you can negotiate this for a lower amount. End of the month usually helps on the buyers side of negotiations but you still need to be willing to walk if you're not happy with your deal!
