helpful for me in making this decision.
I just purchased a LE7 with BZ/WH/Z1 options. I got it 200$ below invoice at 26012.
The negotiated price was $ 26,012
Processing fee 45
Tax 6% for NJ, 4 yrs registration 400
TOTAL $ 28030
Less Rebate 1000.0
OUT OF THE DOOR PRICE $ 27030
As for the rebate question above, rebates are taxable and should be included in determining the sales tax. It is not a pre-tax discount. But I understand different regions have different rebate amounts.
Previously I checked Darcars, Fitzmall and Boch. Darcars had the best internet price of 24300, Fitzmall gave me a quote for 25212 which was similar to Boch. Last week when I requested a quote, I received an e-mail from this NY dealer (where I am buying), that their price is 200 below invoice for this model if I purchase it in a few days. I slept over this for about a week and inquired the same car one week later. Another two big dealers that I talked in the area tossed all these prices and wanted me to pay about 27000$ for their 'great' servicename. Finally, I found the color I wanted at the first dealer I talked to and made the deal without any real negotiation. The guy kept telling me that I got a good deal.
After I made the deal, I got another note from autoland/NJ that their internet price is 26000$ (excluding the 1000 rebate). So I think I got a fair deal. What do you think?
The processing is exceptionally low for NJ. Some now charge $199 "doc fee".
If the $200 below invoice does not include the $1000 rebate, than it is a good deal ($1200 below invoice) for NJ. The Darcars (Frederick, MD) is probably the best Internet dealer by far and I would buy from them again.
Two dealers in my area (So Cal) advertised this weekend with what appears to be great dealer discounts on ALL Siennas. Both have a $5k dealer discount and a $1k factory discount. Now, both stated that discounts are off of MSRP. In the past, I've always negotiated "factory" discounts off the invoice and then added a dealer profit like $+500. So, my question is has anyone actually negotiated a final cost by subtracting a "dealer" discount off the invoice? It seems to me that the dealer is getting some type of compensation to deal $5k off the asking price; otherwise, why do it (maybe to sell more cars)? Is offering $INVOICE -$5K-$1K+$500 unrealistic????
Thanks in advance for any input.
Pete
Very. Taking $6k off MSRP is most likely below Invoice. I used carsontoyota.com and longotoyota.com for viewing actual inventories for the Sienna I wanted. I knew what a good price was going in thanks to carsdirect. In the end I got a XLE w/package #7 for about $1100 below invoice. Invoice is $31,900 on this configuration and MSRP is $36,661. So I ended up getting nearly $6k below MSRP. Final price about $30,800 plus tax/lic.
Oh, and don't worry about adding in that $500. The dealer still makes money via factory kickbacks.
Did you buy from carsdirect or from the dealer with the carsdirect quote in hand? I'm also considering buying a used '04 with 20k miles but there seems to be a huge spread between asking price and KBB trade-in value ($10k difference). So how can a buyer really arm himself with a solid offer, if there is a lot of gray area where the used car may have been valued at during trade-in? I have never bought used so this is new to me.
Thanks
PG
I want to buy from stock and pay cash. Is it fair to offer $21K out the door with everyhting included? The ad at the dealership says they have them starting at just below $21K for the CE which is listed around $24K in my area. Do I have more leverage dealing with cash? Please help confused soccer mom :confuse:
As for paying cash vs. Financing, it doesn't make a HUGE difference either way, but they actually make some revenue when you finance but the focus from the Sales Manager is usually just moving a unit and worrying about cash/lease/finance later.
Hope this helps.

Invoice + DestinationCharge - (holdback) - (Allincentives) = RealCost
Depend on what package you chose, just add the package cost on top of RealCost, then offer $300-$500 for Dealer.
For your car:
$21216 + $565 -($469) -($750) = $20562
For package # 1
$20562 + $648 = $21210
You offer around $21210 + $300 = $21510 to $21210 + $500 = $21710
The $750 incentive from Toyota will expire on July/4. If you graduated from college within last 2 years, you get extra $400.
I just bought one LE with packge 6 about $24400 ( not include processing fee, tax, title..) after $750 + $400 rebates from Toyota. I bought from Bill Page VA Toyota Dealer, its service is outstading. It took me less than 1.5 hours to get it done.
I hope it help. All information above I get from buying a consummer report from Consummer report magazine
If I have to put a $500 deposit to order one, should I get a contract to ensure that I will get the negotiated price when the van is delivered? Can I get my money back when I find something wrong and don't buy this van later? Is it better to pay the deposit by credit card than by check?
Any Sienna buying experience in Houston area is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
I personally recommend credit cards for deposits as you have more control over the funds if there are any problems.
Ken
I checked with my local(Dallas) Dealer, the incentive is only$500 for Sienna XLE/LE.
thanks.
I'm considering buying through CarsDirect: it seems like $22,032 for an 8-seat CE seems OK, although the Consumers Report Wholesale Price (where they say you should start negotiating) is $20,178. Does the CarsDirect price seem reasonable (I'm in Northern NJ) for a CE?
Ken
Any help would be appreciated.

Having purchased several vehicles over the internet, it has been my experience that further negotiation is possible (and sometimes VERY productive) although some dealers will not do so.
Whether the quote you have received is "fair" depends on your local market - get quotes from competitors.
1) Where are the Siennas made? I thought they were made or at least assembled in the US.
2) Since we have requested that this dealership have this one sent for us (rather than buy one off the lot that has what we want except for color), should I expect to pay more for that? It lists at $39,917, and I was thinking of offering $36,000 total (incl. tags, title, taxes etc.). Does this sound fair?
Thanks! If all goes well, I should be driving my new Sienna in a few weeks!
Hope this helps.

Is this a Good Price?
Thanks

I am also looking to buy a Sienna LE #5 just like yours. Would you tell me the breakdown charges involved? Did you have to pay sales tax in Portland?
How to bargain for this price? Did you have a cash rebate?
Ken
Can anyone provide information regarding price paid/buying experience for Toyota dealerships in the DENVER, CO area (including all of Colorado)? I am considering an LE7 with package #5 or #6, or the XLE with package #3. Once we decide, I plan to solicit offers from internet managers by email. I would buy a vehicle from a smaller dealership outside the front range area if they compete for my business.
Thanks for the assistance.
Mick
Now, here's what they're offering for a Sienna XLE Limited, with pkg #2 (Navi, DVD, etc.): It lists for $39,922. Their "best price" is $36,498; $35,498 after rebate. They'll buy our 98 grand caravan for $2500 (not great, but better than Carmax offered me), giving me a Drive-out price (after taxes and tags) of $34,087.
Should I counter-offer, or take it and run? It's as good a price for that car as I would expect, but I've never bought a car that I didn't have to painfully negotiate for. It would be a relief to take the offer they've made, but I wouldn't want to leave $500+ with them that I didn't have to, ya know?
Thanks, Tracey
Mark
They'd advertised $3,000 off MSRP any in-stock Camry, but with very little negotiation got it down about $3,500 so one may be able to do better than the $4,500. (Ultimately, we went w/an Accord so it became moot) The dealer was very up front, and decidedly low-pressure (I've bought 5 cars in last 24 mos. and avoid the pushy places)
I honestly regret having bought my '05 Ody earlier this year for just $2K off MSRP... while it and the Sienna seem to be near equals, little creature features in the Sienna like auto-on headlights, compass, etc., are nice touches.
Happy hunting!
Cheers, MG
Thanks
FWIW for those still shopping, I happened to see the dealer holdback on this vehicle on the Finance Manager's computer screen...$921.
Mark
Does anyone disagree with these numbers ?
Could you tell me who the dealer was? I am in N.Calif too.
Thanks,
Muru
Where in California are you?
I am in Northern Calif.
I got few quotes for LE 8 pass with Pkg#5 for $25200 +tax,title,doc. ($28950-$3000-$750)
Another dealer is offering $26491+tax,title,doc ($25991+$500)
Is this good price?
I am in the san jose area.
Good luck.
