    Hi -

I have a quote for $25K OTD for an LE EVP#2, no extras. Is this worth taking? Thanks for any feedback.

If it's before rebate, it's a good deal.
  • dwarfl0rddwarfl0rd Member Posts: 12
We bought our 2008 XLE EVP#1 on Saturday.
    MSRP: $32131 including shipping

    OTD = $28951 + 0.0% financing for 5 years!
our tax rate is 3%, $59 tags, $240 processing and that is it. I think it was like $27,5xx or $27,6xx for car price and destination before all the other fees. Dealer told me he "ate" $1000 on the deal.

Love this thing. Quiet, smooth, luxury, already getting 22mpg in mixed (50/50) driving, did I mention its quiet?
    Very nice car.

    Congrats.

They're great on long trips. Big gas tank, powerful engine for passing, tons of room, quiet, comfortable.

It may be the ideal trip vehicle.

I have a quote for a 2008 Sienna LE, 7-passenger, EVP#2, with alloy wheels package, daytime running lights/windshield de-icer, and tow prep pkg. The quote is $25,300 OTD, after the $1800 rebate. Our tax rate is 7.25% (the rebate basically pays for the tax). The price of the car itself is $24,948.

    Is this a good price?
    Thanks in advance!
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That price is a lot lower than a similar van I bought in May 2007. A lot.

    Go for it.

I'm in MD and just picked up a Silver shadow 08 sienna LE 8-pass with EVP #2 for 24,350+tax+tag+$100 processing fee with 0%, 60 months financing. I haggled with a few local dealers and finally settled with Russell Toyota. The agent mostly dealt with me over the phone and then once we had a price that I liked settled I went over to sign the paperwork. I was surprised that he set the price with me over the phone but it worked out. Darcars offered me a better price but they only had white color. And I did not want white. Their offer was $24000 with 0%, 60 months financing.

After much research and e-mailing, just drove home a 2008 CE 8-passenger for $22000 "out the door" (excl. taxes)! Had to drive 4+ hours to get it, but was best deal and considerably less than many other quotes in the immediate area.

Many dealerships were geared for business over the internet, but many were not and tried to play the standard car salesman games over the phone. Appreciate this forum and web-site for the valuable info concerning pricing. It really helped us select the best deal.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
To both of you. Those prices are about $1200 or so lower than they were 15 months ago. Plus you got the 0%, so good deal!
  • forbiddenforbidden Member Posts: 12
Is $35,500 a good price for 2008 sienna ltd fwd evp #2???? The vehicle does not have the laser cruise control or hid lights. OTD the vehicle would be about $39K? This is supposed to be the Costco auto services price. Seems kind of high especially for a 2008. :confuse: Thanks.
  • yarwaawyarwaaw Member Posts: 7
    Thanks, ateixeira!

We decided to buy the car at that price, and so far, we really like it.

The problem with buying an 08 right now is that the inventory is now very limited. So, you end up paying for stuff that you don't want or need based upon whatever's left on the lot (at least, this is what I'm finding here in the Chicago area). Are others having the same experience?

I live in NJ also...........Waretown, by Toms River.........Where are you at in NJ, and what dealers are you going too.

Also has anyone used Carsdirect to get a quot on a Toyota.

    Thank you
  • siennabsiennab Member Posts: 3
It's in Lawrenceville. I checked couple of local dealers as well, but seems like they have the lowest price, after Fitzmall and Carmax, which is more than 200 mile from where I live.

LE with Option 2 (dual power doors/alloy wheels)

    24000 Negociated Price
    289 Registration Fee
    1446 MD State Tax
    100 Processing fee

    25835 OTD with 0% /60month OR

Incase you are wondering what the price would have been if I took the $1800 Cash:

    22200 Negoicated Price
    289 Registration Fee
    1332 MD State Tax
    100 Processing fee

23921 OTD with 1800 Dollar Rebate

This was with Jim Coleman's in Bethesda, Darcar's was matching this price they have two white vans.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I will have to ignore that else I may cry. A similar was was $26 something out the door with rebates include in May 07.

Buy it, that price is crazy. Under $24k for dual power sliding doors and 266hp?

These vans rent for $700 a week in Florida!

At the rental rate you would break even after just 34 weeks!

First time posting here. I've been researching on a Sienna LE AWD for few months and just started to get some quotes, but they seem high. Does $28360 (before tax and title) seem about right to you guys? And I also noticed every Toyota dealer is adding TDA, Dealer Holdback and Whsl Fin. Reserve fees, which pushes up the price above the $27300 or so invoice price.

Am I doomed to pay these nonsense fees if I want a Sienna?
  • trtletrtle Member Posts: 2
Didn't get selection of colors & options were VERY limited, but the best deal I could find was for 2008 Sienna XLE FWD 7-pass EVP#2 $27.1K (after rebate, before TTL). Was that an okay deal?

My first time posting here, but I've been reading some of the Odyssey/Sienna thread here for a couple of weeks and it has been a huge help, thanks! :)
  • trtletrtle Member Posts: 2
Yes, the color & options were VERY limited at the dealers around me. I ended up paying $600 more for a sunroof that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise, but I didn't like the other colors that were in stock. The one I wanted had a $8K handicapped lift installed in the passenger seat, I couldn't justify paying for that! ;)
  • forbiddenforbidden Member Posts: 12
Where exactly did you get that deal??? I think its a good deal. I am about to purchase a 2008 xle evp#1 for 26300, however i'm opting for the 0% financing rather than the rebate. They claim it's either one or the other not both. I believe its a good deal. I was going to purchase a used 2005 limited fwd with everything except the nav until I found about the 0% financing. That changed everything. However the pickings are very slim now for 08's and while Im not getting everything that I want in the vehicle, I'd rather have new than old and have the options that I want installed by costco or circuit city. :)
  • yarwaawyarwaaw Member Posts: 7
So, what color did you get? :-)
  • yarwaawyarwaaw Member Posts: 7
    Ditto.

I might have to stop reading this board because I'm getting depressed thinking about whether I paid too much! :-(

    Good morning.

A few days ago, I bought an 08 Artic Frost Sienna XLE AWD with EVP 3, JBL, rear sonar, and the usual misc. options for $34,2XX, plus tax and 331.50 DMV. No doc fee. I just paid the 331.50 upfront and financed the rest at 0% for 5 years. The monthly payment came out to 611.38. The MSRP is just a shade under $38,000 (maybe 37,980, I don't have the sticker in front of me).

I could have saved close to $2000 by going down to Fitzmall for a different color but the Mrs. insisted on the pearl white and I didn't really have the time to take an entire day to take the train down there and drive back up. It probably takes a good 3-4 hours each way. Ftizmall does offer to pick you up at Union Station though. I don't know how those guys make money. Or maybe the economics are the same for most big dealers and the ones around here are making a killing. Not sure ...

Over $1000 of that $2000 difference is due to cars down in Maryland not having JBL and some of the other misc stuff that NY/NJ cars tend to have (and the extra charge for the color). You guys that live near MD are really lucky.

The real price difference is about $700. Fitzmall is selling their 08 cars for $700 under invoice plus $100 doc fee. I got my car from a broker who charged $100 over invoice with no doc fee. I had the car delivered to my apt and the papers were signed in 10 mins. No waiting around at the dealer for the finance manager, being asked to buy undercoating from the girl in the tight shirt, being introduced to the service manager and all that stuff. The guy told me that I'd be getting a survey in the mail from Toyota. I was bracing myself for the usual "We need all 5s. A 4 is a failing grade for us." He just told me to toss it. He said he buys his cars from the owner of the dealer and that stuff doesn't affect him.

As for the car itself, I like it so far. The steering is definitely lighter than my Tribeca's and it doesn't tell you much but it's quiet, there is acres of room, and the ergonomics seem to be better. I'll be a happy owner as long as the tires behave. I've read all the horror stories on runflats here on Edmunds and on Tireack. I really wanted the FWD to avoid the runflats (it's not like we live in VT or CO and need the AWD) but wife happy, life happy.

Thanks and good luck to those still looking. If you can wait, the 09 model year should really offer up some good deals. It's the last year for the current generation of both the Odyssey and the Sienna. I'm sure the rebates on the 09 cars will be ridiculous soon enough.

:D I went to checkout sienna yesterday and I was offered 28.1K for XLE FWD EVP#2. It has tow package, wheel locks, mats, pinstripe. MSRP is $33K. The store manager says he makes $100 on the car. I am in Dallas area. Do you think it is a good deal.?
  • haagerhaager Member Posts: 3
Looking at a 08 LE 7 Passenger with EVP #2, audio upgrade and tow prep for right around 28,000 out the door. Okay price? This is in WI, if that matters.

Also the dealer ship want to sell me Simoniz System 5, a protective film the covers areas of the car subject to chips and dings such as the front of the hood, the front of the mirrors and door edges. They claim that in 2005 the auto industry changed something in the paint and now it's very soft and chips quite easily? They want $599 for this. Also for $599 they Scothguard the interior fabric...for $998 they will do both. Are either worth it? Seems like a scam to me.

We just bought a 2008 Sienna LE, 7-passenger, EVP#2, with alloy wheels package, daytime running lights/windshield de-icer, and tow prep pkg for $25,300 OTD, after the $1800 rebate. We're in the Chicago area, and our tax rate is 7.25% (the rebate basically paid for the tax). The price of the car itself was $24,948. I don't know how much your audio upgrade is, but that price seems way too high to me...are you sure it's not an XLE?
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
I got almost the same van, except w/o tow pkg. I think you should try to dicker at least another $500 off that price.

Also, my advice is to never buy any of the additional packages the finance manager is trying to sell. Those are major moneymakers for the dealer and can be gotten cheaper elsewhere if you really want them.
  • haagerhaager Member Posts: 3
No it's an LE. Per Edmunds TMV Pricing the audio upgrade (17" alloys, JBL 10 Speaker Stereo, DVD Wireless headphones, rear parking sensor) goes for about $3000. Total TMV price with options = 28,337 (+ tax 5.5% & fees) and (- 1800 rebate). My cash price is 28,239. By the time you add tax and fees, there is only about $200 worth of rebate left. Taking us down to 28,039 out the door. Am I missing something? Also does the Tow Prep, include a receiver and wire harness? I didn't think it did. Dealers website says it does. I can't find this info on Toyota's site. Edmunds dosen't mention these items either. To me the "receiver"is the hitch and there is most certainly not on on the van we looked at. My guess is the dealers site is wrong.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
The tow conversion mainly consists of upgrades to the radiator, transmission cooling and wiring, but I do not believe it includes the actual hitch and receiver. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Ignore Edmunds TMV for the Sienna. It underestimates the dealer's willingness to unload these vans. The price you are talking about is close to the invoice price and you can get these for below invoice if you work at it... I got mine more than $800 below invoice a month ago. Mine is the LE 8 passenger with EV2 and Audio upgrade, DRL w/ windshield de-icer and floor mats, but does not have the towing upgrades.
  • haagerhaager Member Posts: 3
Great info...thanks much. I'll see if I can work them down some more.

I I was able to negotiate the following price at a bay area dealership this weekend. (it fell thru for some unrelated issues) but I just wanted to let you know what I negotiated to help you all.

XLE with pxg 1 (the leather package) plus day time running lights
$ 27,300 (before TTL) and I got the 0% financing.

    I hope this helps.

I purchased a 2008 Sienna Limited last night and also opted for the 7 year 75 Mile Platinum Warranty from Toyota. This basically extends the 3 year / 36,000 mile bumper to bumper ($0 deductible) to 7 years and 75,000 miles. I was able to get it for $750 and have it included in the 0% financing.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
$760 is not too bad, but going online I got the same warranty for $580. With as many gizmos and gadgets to break as my van has, and the Limited has many more, the price seemed worth it for the extra security especially since this will be used for family road trips and Toyota does not offer towing or rental coverage in the standard warranty.

Molle Toyota and Toyota of Danville are the outfits that will sell the warranties at great prices online. I'd suggest poking around on the Sienna Forum website to get more information on who to contact since Edmunds restricts putting contact information up.
  • akinakin Member Posts: 24
Are you sure that is for a Platinum warranty? Toyota has three different types of warranties.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
Yes... 7yr/75k miles, 0 deductible Platinum and all the paperwork came from Toyota.
  • monkrocksmonkrocks Member Posts: 1
The dealer told me that tax rate for Sienna LE AWD is 7.4%, different from the 7% tax for FWD. Do you guys think it makes sense?
    PS. I am in NJ.

    Hi,
could you please let me know how much you paid for 2008 Sienna Limited AWD? I am planning to get one in a couple weeks. Thanks. Annette
  • inquizativeguyinquizativeguy Member Posts: 4
Yatesjo : would you mind telling all of us how you got the 580 price for a warranty, like what website did you use? Telephone book? Company you bught from, etc so I can get that deal too?
  • akinakin Member Posts: 24
I did not purchase the AWD. It was a Limited FWD. I probably paid a little more than I could have because I wanted a hard to find color in my area. Purchased a 2008 Sienna Limited with EVP#2, Carpeted Floor Mats, Daytime Running Lights, Sirius Satellite Radio & Remote Start for $36,000. I opted for the 60 month 0% financing instead of rebate. Additionally I paid $750 for 7 yr/75,000 mile platinum extended warranty.

The above price does not include tax and MV fees.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
I thought I did tell you a few posts back, but let me repeat with more detail...

I contacted the person at Molle Toyota identified at this link:
    Molle Toyota

I also contacted the person at Danville Toyota identified at this link:
    Danville Toyota.

Hint: get quotes from both and go back to the higher one and with the lower quote and you should end up lower than $580 for the warranty I talked about.

The dealership you buy the car from makes bank from warranties. When I bought my Sienna they wanted $1650 ($300 more than MSRP) for the 7/75 Platinum and offered to "give it away" for $995 (and then the "mistakenly" wrote 6yrs instead of 7) when the actual cost to them is probably between $500 and $550. They are getting double or triple the money for a product that they don't have to stock or keep inventory on and when claims do get made on it, the money comes from Toyota and will likely go to their own service department. They push it hard because it is a win-win-win all the way around for them.

Thanks for the warranty info. I plan to purchase. On Tuesday, I purchased a 2008 xle evp#1, drl, spoiler, fog lights, mats and door sills for 29988 otd. Initially I was quoted 26224 (excluding ttl)(fitzmall-pa). However when I got there they claimed that there guaranteed price for 26K included the 1800 rebate. I took the 0% instead. I think I did ok. I didnt purchase anything extra. The extended warranty was $1275. So far so good. I plan to go to circuit city for the 11"' jensen overhead dvd - $599 including installation. I purchased a garmin for $250-costco. I called toyota they want $2300 for in dash dvd and rear entertainment. Question, do I really need to go to the dealer for xm radio installation?
  • forbiddenforbidden Member Posts: 12
I contacted a dealership in SC to purchase an 08 sienna and was told that they were not offering the 0% financing. They acted as if they didnt know anything about it. Is that possible? I thought that all manufacturer incentives were nationwide. Yet they were offering the $1800 rebate.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
    Toyota incentives are regional.

To find out for yourself what specials are applicable to your area go on the Toyota website, under "Shopping tools" look for "Local Specials" and enter you ZIP code. Then look for the Sienna from the list and you can see if they are offering special rate financing in your area.
  • sundaramsundaram Member Posts: 6
Could you please clarify if 30.5 OTD is with the $1800 rebate and if you had gone for speciall financing, you would have paid 32.3 OTD. Thanks.
  • skynetskynet Member Posts: 5
I have just purchased Sienna 2008 XLE. I declined to buy the warranty as he quoted it for 1200 for 6 years(not 7 years). I nevery bought extended warranty for my acura or previous toyota. Do you think it is worth if the fealer offers for $800 for 7 year/100K Miles? Do you know I can buy this even after buying the vehicle.
  • yatesjoyatesjo Member Posts: 186
The Toyota extended warranty can be bought anytime in the first 3 years/ 36k miles.
  • skynetskynet Member Posts: 5
With the rebate. I ended up buying from some other delaer. I bought the XLE Option#1 for $27,600. It has parking sensors and vehicle shield package. It came with sound shiled package as well. I don't notice a difference in the road noise. Toyota claims 20percent less noise due to this package. Anyways I am happy with my purhcase. Now looking at the extended warranty.

    Hello,
I am also looking for the similar car and I live in chicagoland also. I am also in similr situation, not many are giving me quotes and price either thru email. Where did you buy

    Thanks for your help
  • mcjazzzymcjazzzy Member Posts: 62
I like my van, but always loved the odysseys!! At the time I bought my Sienna they were giving the 0% financing and it was just to hard to pass up. The only thing I regret getting is the "run flats"..I've read from forums people had mixed opinions about them. Some liked it and some don't. They are quite expensive to replace. I keep thinking I should of went with the Odyssey. But, it's kind of nice to have the AWD on my Sienna, which was one of the reasons I went with Toyota anyways...Hey, if anyone's interested in swapping my Sienna for an 06 Ody w/NAV and RES, I would love to hear from you!!!
