Then wait for the dealers to get POed with it and stop accepting clunker trade ins. The latest news is the program has only paid out on only 2% of the applications and rejected 80% for procedural errors forcing the dealers to resubmit. Dealer margins are usually slim, and they are waiting a long time to get upwards of one third of the sale value paid. The cash flow crunch this is causing could pull some more dealers under.

I'm in the Wash DC area, here is what I found:
2010 XLE, EVP4, Alloy rims, Fog lamp package, Carpet Mats
    32100 + tax, reg
Good deal? Seems like better prices were found pre-C4C.
Wait until 2011 model? We don't need the van immediately.
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
That is exactly what we are doing. Waiting for the 2011's in first quarter 2010. New styling and 6 speed trans. One day closer to the 2011 :shades:

Compare to fitzmall prices, since you're close.

I think you can get e-quotes from DARCARS Toyota in Rockville, and then from Carmax Toyota as well.

That'll give you 3 price quotes without leaving your computer chair.

    Good luck.

We decided to use a broker for our specific vehicle. Between dealers still acting irrational due to C4C, our specific model (Ltd AWD) being relatively more difficult to find, the fact that our other vehicle is on it's last legs and mostly the lack of time between my wife and I who both work, we decided to leverage the relationship and efficiency that a broker brings into the equation.

Right now, we are being promised a Ltd AWD model with our exact specs and color at the end of September with a price of $2K over invoice. The price is guaranteed to not go up any higher and will be adjusted down if market conditions prevail.

Alas, a difficult pill to swallow given that originally before C4C threw the market upside down we almost had one at invoice. However, we do plan on holding onto this vehicle for 10 years and so the price difference is negligible in the relative time frame.

We just took a 600-mile road trip on a rental Chrysler van and I couldn't help thinking how much more pleasant it would have been on a Sienna! Can't wait. I'll let you all know how it goes in a month.

If anyone knows of any better deals in the CA Bay Area, please let me know!

You are going to pay 2K over invoice?
  • saz_1saz_1 Member Posts: 30
Which dealer did you have luck with? I've tried a bunch of them around DC and cannot really get anything less than MSRP.
  • jonathanejonathane Member Posts: 3
What should be my target pricing? Invoice? Below invoice?

I am in the southwest, but often travel to philadelphia / boston area and could drive one back. Any suggestions for where to start my search?
  • duke88duke88 Member Posts: 3
I just purchased the same vehicle in the Phoenix, AZ area for $31,440 (XLE w/Option#4). It also depends on the color you choose, we got the Silver Shadow Pearl which is not a premium paint color like the Blizzard Pearl is and adds about $260 to the price. That price did not include TTL fees so out the door we were $34,800. Good luck, we have had our Sienna for about 2 weeks and we love it.
  • bamboo222bamboo222 Member Posts: 20
good price for your purchase! Did you buy the platinum warranty?
any thoughts on getting it? I have a quote for $950 for 7 yrs/100000 zero deductible.

do I really need the platinum warranty?

Bought my sienna XLE EVP 4 with extra earphones for 31050 on July 30, 2009 before inventory was depleted.

Duke88, can you send me the dealer name and sales guy? That is exactly what I'm looking for:

    evansrav4 at gmail dot com

    thanks!
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Maybe, maybe not. The highest we would pay is 2K over invoice. If market conditions continue to soften and there are additional incentives, we could pay less than that amount. Note, we also have first right of refusal if we find a better price or decide to wait.

Currently, any dealer that has the trim we want is asking at least MSRP. Prior to the C4C chaos, the Carsdirect and Edmund's TMV prices were just about $1K over invoice so I feel $1K above that is not completely unreasonable given that this is a $38K vehicle.
  • saz_1saz_1 Member Posts: 30
I'm about to buy a Limited AWD with EVP2 for $36,669 + TTL. OTD is $37,967 (VA). This includes the $500 rebate, so tack that on if you want the special financing. Had a hard time finding inventory. Even harder time getting a dealer to budge too much off MSRP. Felt that I didnt do too bad, but not great. Hope this info helps someone.
  • siennavasiennava Member Posts: 6
Jim Coleman Toyota, also try DARCARS in Silver Spring. As others have said, inventory is very low which translates to less leverage for the buyers.
  • dandydoniidandydonii Member Posts: 45
Considering these same vehicles were selling for less than invoice not too long ago...If you could wait a couple of months, I would do so.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It may be surprising for those of us shopping for bargains, but I recall that loaded ones are the ones that sell the quickest. Some people walk in and want a van with everything, and will pay it.

Keep in mind a lot of those folks are Lexus customers so price is not going to kill them, plus $40k probably seems cheap after seeing the prices on the new Lexus LX.
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Yes, the AWD models especially around here seem to go the quickest.

Guess what -- I got a call from the broker today and the original dealer now wants to sell the Sienna to us at $1000 over invoice! Sheez, talk about being short-sighted. The same vehicle in a period of 3 weeks went from invoice, to MSRP+500 and now. I didn't know to laugh or to be insulted.

Now that C4C is over, it appears the dealers are realizing it's famine time now.

Although the price is attractive, I'm going to pass and hold out. Although it is more expensive, we have one of the exact color we want coming and I'm going to bet that there may be better deals by then.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Their showroom has probably been empty all week.

Wait - if anything his price will drop back to the original invoice offer. Out of principal I'd hold out until his price was $100 lower than his original offer, which he retracted. That's for the hassle and wait you had to endure.

Then you can choose how important the color is.
  • vjklvjkl Member Posts: 10
brought home my Sienna XLE with option #4 yesterday. Paid 250 over invoice, OTD came out to be 35,764.
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
Congrats on your Sienna XLE purchase. What area of the USA?
  • wayne2010wayne2010 Member Posts: 4
same dealer now quoting $31900 for xle with evp#4 with fog light + tow package + 17" wheel.
    costco quoted 32900 for xle + evp4 + fog light + 17" wheel + tow packge + mat.

cardirect.com is a joke quoting above MSRP for the same car.

    Hi
This forum has been extremely helpful/educational to me. I was wondering if I could get your advice on the following price quote:

    2010 new Sienna LE
    8 passenger
    EVP #2
    MSRP: $27435

I have been given a quote for $25384 (invoice is $25038, which includes the EVP #2). Plus doc fee $469, plus tax and tag, OTD $26712

Is this a good deal or can I do better?

    Thank you very much.
  • s2kmr2s2kmr2 Member Posts: 28
I am in the market for a LE with EVP 2 but with 7 passenger, not 8 passenger. Most of the LE EVP2 in my area, NYC, comes with 16 inch alloy wheels, which bring the MSRP between 27,700 and 28,000. Is your quoted 8 pass LE missing the alloy wheels? The MSRP of 27,435 seems a little low for a LE with EVP2.

The price of 25,384 is okay. I am hoping to pay around 24,400 (since truecar.com list that as a "great" price in my area) but with the cash for clunker depleting inventory I may have to wait a few months to get my price.
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
You didn't say which area of the country you are located. With the inventory depletion due to C4C, that price is not too bad.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Seems just a tad high. It's correct to observe C4C depleted inventories, but they're tacking on a massive $469 fee.

If they waive that fee, the deal is fine.

Else come buy here in MD, where such fees are limited to $99.
  • thisis1thisis1 Member Posts: 5
    Thanks for the responses.
    1) The vehicle has EVP #2 only, no other option installed on it. (this is exactly what I'm looking for, a van without other crap installed on it)
    2) I am in North Carolina. There is no current Toyota rebate here. (while I believe the rebate in Maryland is $500, which makes driving there an attractive option)
    3) Unfortunately, can't wait a couple more months for the van. (would love to be able to)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
How far is that, 7 hours or so?

Take the train up, drive back.

It would be a long day, but for $500 I'd do it.
  • jonathanejonathane Member Posts: 3
Got a quote for "at invoice" but the car isn't in stock. I'll have to wait for one to come onto the radar for my dealer to trade for. He is guaranteeing "at invoice" but he keeps factory incentives... which I hear is around $500 to $750.

    Is this a good price?

Should I wait for it (4-6 weeks) or move on? I don't need the car immediately, still have my other two, no money exchanged yet.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
If you're not sure, don't seal the deal. Ask them to call you when one comes in, and shop in the meanwhile.
  • rlmiller9rlmiller9 Member Posts: 48
Not sure why dealer should get the incentive, seems like it should go to the consumer?
I agree with atierxeira tell them you are interested and to call you when it comes, maybe price drops by then or you find a better deal.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Consumer get rebates, dealers get the factory-to-dealer incentives.

The dealer chooses whether or not to share that, but it does lower their cost.

Also, here in MD it's better - you do no pay tax because they lower the price you pay. If you get a $1000 rebate you will pay $60 in taxes to the state of MD. You won't pay any tax if the dealer incentive is the same amount and they lower the price.

This may vary by state, but I believe it's common.

Here's the final deal: (purchased today)

    2010 Sienna LE
    8 passenger
    EVP2
    Carpet mats

    MSRP: $27684
    Invoice: $25264

    Bought the car for: $25032
plus 3% tax (north carolina), $469 dealer fee, $98 tags/title
    Out the door price: $26350

Given the low inventory (thanks to C4C), I was happy with this deal and finding a car without a lot of "extra" options attached. Thanks to this forum for all the info!!

I just bought a Sienna Limited EVP#2, basically every option you can get, for $36,781 +TTL. Considering I checked all of Orange county, much of south LA, and much of north San Diego county and I could only find 8-10 limiteds at all I feel like I got a pretty good deal. The Edmunds TMV pricing and the TrueCar pricing both average slightly higher than this. This was the best offer we got from several different dealers and includes the current Toyota offer of 2.9% financing over 60 months. The dealer was Toyota Carlsbad. They were very easy to deal with and upfront with their pricing. I would recommend them to anyone in the area.

Where is a good place to sell a 2009 Sienna XLE w/ EVP#3? It has 11,600 miles on it. I got a company vehicle and no longer need the van. Any direction would be appreciated. I have never had to sell before and I am lost with all the options.

    Thanks,

Internet is good. Vehix.com or craigslist.org are two.

You could also email me info on the van. Click on my screen name for my email addy. Might have another idea.

I think this forum is fantastic! I am hoping for some help. What are your thoughts on this offer: 2010 Sienna XLE with EVP3 for $30,750 plus Tax and DMV fees. MSRP is $33,362. I am hoping to purchase within the next few days, so any input would be great. I received this price over the internet and did not negotiate much at all. Do you think this is a fair price?
    Thanks everyone.
  • bob282bob282 Member Posts: 1
You got lucky. I tried to buy at the same place . The sales rep could not give a price. He said only the managers could. He was mad i did not make an appointment with him. He was also mad that people expect a discount off the sticker price. I left and bought elsewhere.
  • nupltwannabnupltwannab Member Posts: 6
What did you end up doing? A friend and I are both looking to buy (or lease) that LE with EVP2, in the NYC area. Any pricing help would be great. Also, do you get any buying power if you are buying 2 at the same time (if my friend and I negotiate together)?
  • cdsccdsc Member Posts: 3
I am looking LE with EVP2 also in NJ. I got the price of 25800. What price do you get? thanks.

What a great form, glad I found it. I have just started looking for a XLE or LTD AWD in Salt Lake. There are a few LTDs here and one XLE AWD coming (in a month) across 7-8 dealers or so. After getting multiple non responses on internet offers (they were low), I tried costco and got a dealer that could get me any car in the valley here for $1500 over invoice. I realize I just missed a $750 rebate and this dealer says they won't have any more rebates on the 2010's for a "long time" (sure, whatever). Is this in line with what others are seeing now as far as best price? I saw the great deal at Toyota Carlsbad in this form so will contact them (have family there). Thinking I might just wait till early next year for 2011 model although I have seen some rumors about there maybe not being a AWD.
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
I don't buy the "no more rebates" thing. The economy is still in the tank. Dealers and manufacturers will need to stimulate sales with some cash back or other incentives. We also are holding out for the 2011 Sienna with new styling and 6 speed auto trans.
