Nice pics Brian. Great job I see they changed the color scheme from yellow to red on the maintenance point of the engine. The leather looks lucious too.
That is red electrical type tape covering parts of the engine to protect the things that they removed from the engine. Other cars on display were similar, some used black tape, some red, some yellow... ;-)
It's a shame they have to do things like that to eliminate the 'theft' of those items. *shrug*
* payload is the same, 900 lbs * 6500 rpm redline is higher than Phase II 2.5l SOHC engine (same as Phase I DOHC, though) * 2 tone interior looks very elegant * rear sway bar is about 16mm? Looks thicker than my old 13mm but not quite 18mm, I believe this is the same as stock for the 2003 Foresters * exhaust looks a little different, hard to tell * 5 speed with premium shown, will we get it?
I got a brochure too that has some more information on the XT, but probably nothing more than is on the press releases we've seen. I'll give it a good lookover tonight and see if there is anything noteworthy on it.
The imagestation album link in that post does require you to be a member of imagestation to see the pics. It's their MO, not mine. Registering is free.
is that they have 'unlimited' on how much you can store on their site. So, I have a whopping 17mb worth of autoshow pictures (~150kb/picture) out there.
Interesting that most Bajas that are now being shown are the silver monochromatic versions. I really think that for '04, we'll see more monochromatic choices, with perhaps only the yellow remaining as a 2-tone version.
Also noted that the Baja on display was not the Baja Sport.
I believe that was NOT an AWD Sienna. I think it was just an XLE. My dw said she thought she saw ~$32k, but wasn't sure.
I hadn't seen any monochromatic colored Subarus in person, only had seen 'em in print and online before. That LLBean Outback didn't really look like an Outback at first, looked more like a plain 'ol Legacy. I thought I was seeing an H6 Legacy for a quick second!
This year was the first year for Subaru to be in the 'main' hall at the Midwest Express Center. In years past, they were outside of the main hall and easy to miss.
will be optional on the top 3 (of 4) trim levels of the Sienna. I just visited the Toyota Sienna mini-site.
The only things I don't like about the new Sienna are: The styling, it's not just boring, but ugly to boot, and I wish it had a 3.5L (or larger) engine. Other than that, it seems to be perfect. Still, styling and engine aside, if I were in the minivan market, this would be my choice, hands down.
Depending on what Subaru comes up with, as far as their 7-passenger crossover is concerned, it appears an AWD Sienna could well be the more "sensible" choice, as far as an AWD family vehicle is concerned. Toyota really raised the bar with this vehicle, IMO. I just wish it weren't so hard on the eyes...
Brian- well it's pretty golfanged stiff, but that's fine by me. It takes the post-storm potholes unhappily, but expansion joints and heaves are less traumatic- firm for sure, but controlled and not "crashy."
It's a whole other story on twisty backroads and the open highway. Buttoned down, ready to do business, with a nice dose of hooliganism thrown in.
Pat- I am not as big a fan of this as others are. It "fattens" the look of the car to me. Also, I jack the sucker up and down a lot sometimes, especially during auto-x season. Those side peices take a lot of flex and stress, and I worry the paint would flex and flake.
And yes, it does run sweeter when clean!! Deus ex Machina, I am convinced.
We'll find out soon enough...but I don't think so. The tire lives inside the fender lip, and there is a lot more room underneath there. BD Legacies hafta hafta have proper offset (in back especially) when lowered, hence the OEM 2.5RS rims. To go 17" means +53mm, which means Prodrive which = $$$. Plus at this point I run out of go before I run out of grip.
What I did was "right click" on his image in MSN and open it is a new window and copied the URL fromt he new window, which looks likw this: (img src="http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0UgCvBAEZrAarM!Mi*Cluu94OtXF34- - dWBkhnKAAVOvs4qmW1twKWoNN*xY4KQIDPXFfgKgjALGStwOXPyXCPzIUvYgKIk1m- - ed4nBFR5O8NrqjaIwkrbhXwNZSPAxwnOeV/anna1-009.jpg?dc=4675416229905- - 259183") instead of which looks like this: (img src="http://groups.msn.com/KenandKelleyKisatsky/shoebox.msnw?acti- on=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=5")
i tried that right click, open in new window thingy and all i keep getting is a funky run time error and it asks if i want to debug. frickin windows xp. the snow was from feb i think - think we had snow on the ground all winter this year. i'd like to do the tint but my wife says it looks like i was trying to hide something and being that it is basically her car, what she says goes. on second thought - it is like that with everything..... why is that??? tks for the help on the pic though.
Ken- Whenever you decide to do the tint, hook up with paisan (mike). He can set you up with this guy @ NASIOC that does good tint. If you have a spacious garage, he'll come to you.
I'd say go 20% since your Forester is black. I have a 20% Madico metallic tint on my black 98 Forester S and I love how it looks. It's not as dark as you might think -- a limo tint is 5%.
The tint doesn't impede night driving, keeps the car a lot cooler in the summer AND it looks sweet.
Tint is good, and it is MEANT to hide things. It prevents others from casually noticing what you have in the back seat or the back area. If they look close, they can see, but it's hard. My wife was also initially opposed, but came to appreciate this feature.
Backing up at night is the only drawback, I admit the road behind is a little dim and requires more care to see what is back there. But I've used tint for last 15 years or so without problems.
Oh, and obviously you haven't been married long... of course what the wife says goes! <joke> Steve

Dave, I think the maintenance points are still yellow, they just had them covered w/ red tape for the show so caps and stuff didn't walk away.

That does not mean you won't be able to get a 2.5XT stick w/o leather for under 25K street price.

Ed- Not so fast with the dropping off at the door bit. You might have to get in line behind me for that black one!
Juice- Good catch on the 5-speed w/leather. Me want!
-Frank P.
It appears from my interpretation of that brochure that the 5 speed is not available with leather: subearu "Subaru Crew - Meet The Members II" Feb 20, 2003 1:51pm

Can you pick the popular color from these pics?

Nice car Loosh, just a suggestion why don't you paint the front underspoiler body colour.
Cheers Pat.

You won't be scraping when you auto-x (turns etc)? Looks like there is little room for error.

I finally washed the whole fleet this weekend. I could hear them breathe a sigh of relief!

The only catch is for people to view your pics they have to be registered there. But I am, and many Subaru Crew members are.

I don't think MSN allows direct links to photos. So linking to that particular page would be the only way of showing your photos from MSN.

You should tint the windows to complete the sinister look.
