I honestly do not know. There was some mention of the promotion on either a delear web site or the American Honda Care web site. I asked the F & I guy at the dealer if it was offered and he said "yes". I think the two major Honda Care online dealers do not offer the 0% option.
I ended up buying it from Huntington Honda on Long Island, The final deal was 31,300 with addition of Fog lights which I really wanted and valued at 600 installed. So for me I got what I thought was a fair deal. I really was hoping I could get the Odyssey for less but I really pushed 3 dealers hard and this is the best i could come up with. I drove to Wood Trim, Inc in Brooklyn yesterday and purchased a complete 46 piece wood trim kit. Really nice, the dealer wanted $850 for it and I got it for about $150. It is the same one that they have in the showroom. I bought many other accessories online through EBAY. I will pick it up tomorrow. I think that if they won't go below 31,000 you should have them throw something you want in.
We had a great buying experience at Classic Honda in Round Rock near Austin, TX. I woke up all set to go buy a new Nissan Quest with all options but somehow did little more work and decided to see how well the Honda stacks up. Boy what a surprise. We first went to Honda and absolutely loved the Odyssey. The dealer gave us a great price and finally told them that I needed to see the Quest and will evaluate at that time. The dealer did not push at all and respected our opinion.
We went to Nissan and I was thoroughly disappointed with the Quest. The van had a very "plasticy" feel to it and my wife absolutely hated the design on the center console. She said that in the pictures and the commercial it looks very nice but in person it just didnt work. We politely declined to the NIssan dealer and they were also nice about not pushing.
We went back to the Honda delear and they were able to locate one with Nav and DVD for us that was going to be delivered in San Marcos but would try to have it delivered in Round Rock instead. The next day we got the call that the car is in and we can come by and take a look at it. The car had 118 miles as it was driven down from San Marcos! We renegotiated the price as we didnt like that fact that they drove it down from San Marcos and had over 100 miles most new cars have like 20-40 miles. I had bought my new 4Runner with 8 miles and 4 of them were when I took it for a test drive. Finally we got a deal on the 2006 Odyssey Touring with Rear DVD and Navigation for $37200. They were also able to get us a great interest rate considering my credit is not over 700. I got 6.75% with $3000 down. The final breakdown was
$37200 Odyssey $600 for Wood trim and Cargo bay $2094.37 TTL ------------- $39894.37 OTD I also got $10900 for my 2000 Toyota 4Runner with 74100 miles which was $400 more than KBB.
Overall it was a great experiene and worked with us well. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Austin area. Absolutely avoid First Texas ... I came across some people at our church who described them as very discriminating.
We love our Van and looking forward to some fun rides across this great country.
I just got my Ody yesterday in NC from Goldsboro Honda. I paid $32,580. I got a white EX-L with Navigation and Entertainment for $32,174 which included destination of $550. Plus pinstripe which was on it and mud flaps = $107 and $298 Doc fee which was high but I could live with it. There was $1.00 for something but I don't remember off the top of my head. I feel this was a very fair deal. I showed them my internet offer and asked them to match it. I did not have to pay local tax as the car will be registered in Alaska my hubby is in the military and this is our home of record. I got 4.9% financing This is my first Honda
Daytime running lights do not exist on the 05 Odyssey, they were just added this year for the first time!
The trick with Daytime running lights is there is no way to manually turn them off or on...in the daytime you take the van out of park..and the DRL's activate.
That is a great price. Considering that the invoice with destination is $31,673 without the added stuff. If it is in So. Cal. makes in better. I would be careful and check all the details. Good luck.
I live in the Lawrenceville area of Georgia and I'm looking for best deals on 2006 Honda Oddyssey EX-L. I'm willing to drive even an hour or more if I have to, if it means getting a really great deal on this vehicle. I've gotten a quote of $31,460, which include tax, title, destination and processing fee. Does anyone know if I can beat that and which dealers have the best deals in the Georgia area. My first choice was really a 2006 Oddyssey EXL-DVD, but have not gotten an offer that was low enough to beat installing DVD on my own? Any input will be greatly apppreciated. Very frustrated at this point. Tks.
Wow! That is a great price anywhere in the U.S. and even more exceptional for So Cal. With the foglights and subwoofer the price of the car seems to be below invoice. I'd agree with allyg on this one. Better check it out before you take the plunge. Are you sure it is a 2006 model year and not a '05 demo model?
I had a superb buying experience and got a great price on our '06 Touring R&N (less than halfway between MSRP and invoice) in mid-Sep at Hennessey Honda in Woodstock, GA just N of Etlana, you can call them at (***) ***-****. I highly recommend dealing with the ISM's there. I was able to get some options (deflectors, shades, etc.) at dealer cost but paid for install at delivery. Gwinnett (Auto Mall o'GA) had good potential but were too busy to respond in a timely manner to e-mail quotes, kept wanting to use the phone and definitely weren't good at forecasting inbounds like Henn'y was. Ask for *** or ***** and tell them **** ********* sent you, L*L.
What amazes me about car salespeople is that even if you tell them when they call you back a month later as follow up that you bought a vehicle a month ago, they call you in a week or another month to see if you still want to buy. I guess any lead is a good one even if they're now Ody owners. Listen closely salespeople, if they just bought a car (especially elsewhere), throw the customer contact info away! I'm glad other businesses don't work this way, picture this... "Hello, Mr. Smith, are you still in the market for an '06 heart? Oh, OK, you already got a transplant, well come on down anyway, have we got a deal for you!"
I definitely want to buy the EX-L (w/o NAV and DVD), but I'm absolutely terrified. This will be my first new car purchase ever, and I obviously want to get a great deal. What should I do? What's a reasonable price? Help please!!
It is a 2006 the nameofd the dealer is power honda in Valencia , CA I also got another quote with the same set up from Downey Honda 32,200 with foglightd and subwoofer also.
Log on to edmunds.com send out a bunch of e-mails to different dealers in your area, when you start getting offers just start putting up the best offers against each other and they will start knocking down the prices. You can also fib a little and say hey the other dealer offered me the same and added a few options. A few options of your choice of course. You are getting a good deal when it drops to around $400 over factory invoice, anything below that your golden.
I understand people want the best deal all around. I understand people have the preconceived notion that all Auto dealers are less than honest. Is this a fair assumption? Does it make it right to lie to a dealer? Do you teach this?
In most cases a fair profit and a little work (without fibbing) on your part will get you the best deal.
Pssst! Hear that? It's a can of worms. Before this delves down into sub-terrainian discussion about dealer 'honesty' or lack thereof, it's heartwarming to see a dealer lament that consumers collectively are sharing their 'dirty negotiation tricks'. It's not pay back time but there is a grin on my face on behalf of others.
I don't advocate being dishonest any more than I support doing business with a dealer that does the same. It is perhaps the best policy to go in educated, be honest in that you can and should let a dealer know you're aware of their final cost to acquire a vehicle, what they are 'selling' for (i.e. Edmund's and elsewhere), and MSRP. Any creative tactics on behalf of the customer will be recognized by professional management as a bargaining tool and are fair game on our part. Are we supposed to just open our wallets and turn out heads? While I shed no tears I do feel hondadlr's pain. Not all car dealers are crooks nor are any retailer, they have a bad rap but still choose polyester and white patent leather shoes. Maybe more should seek fashion help along with reading more of Edmunds to improve image. We are privileged to be aware of profit margin with vehicles, ever try that with an appliance, or anything else for that matter? Let's do out part to respect them, providing it's a 'mutual' thing, I hope you understand.
You have a dealer who "says" they will sell you a NAVI/DVD Odyssey for below invoice with those accessories and you are STILL pitting dealers against each other?
Hello all Odyssey shoppers. Just want to share my experience when I bought my 2006 Odyssey with RES only (No Navigator). With the help of this forum, I was able to hagle the price down to $32,500 out the door! The dealer's name was 1st Honda of Simi Valley, CA. I'm just wondering if there's any dealers out there that can beat this price? Please share it in this forum. Thanks!
Have been reading here for quite awhile, just wanted to post my deal. We bought a 2006 Black exl- w/ RES and NAV for 32,700 (does not include sales tax, seperate in MO). This did include pin stripes and mud guards, we had been talking to almost all of the dealers but wanted a white one and couldn't find one, its funny because I did most of my querying through email, and didn't receive alot of attention. The one dealer that had the most instock (color wise) negotiated over the phone and agreed on a price and we went and looked and the wife liked the black better than the white so thats what we ended up with. The dealer was St. Louis Honda (Dave Mungenast automotive group). When we showed up everything went very smooth, no hassels signed papers and took the car. Might could have gotten a few hundred better if we had waited but it was only 150 of of our lowest price. Just thought I'd post and add to the database...
Just the normal stuff that came with an EX-L with DVD like sunroof, leather interior, heated seats, folding\removable chair, floormats, alloy wheels, the only thing that's missing is the navigation system. But everything else are there. WHat specific add ons or accessories you're referring to?
I was able to negotiate a deal on a 2006 Odyssey EXL with Res for $30K +TTL. It was an in-stock unit at Sussex Honda in NJ. I got online quotes ranging from 30,369 to 31,069 before I went to Sussex with my offer. They immediately took it. No fees besides a $99 doc fee.
Great price for our area, I wish I had found this site sooner and maybe could have worked out a better deal. I drove my new Odyssey back from Nutley,NJ to LI last night through that heavy rain storm and it was excellent on handling. Enjoy your Odyssey and thanks for the information.
The items you listed are all standard equiptment. I was just wondering if you were abel to get anything added to the vehicle that didn't already come with it?
Omaha, NE paid 26500 + TTL for an 06 EX. This included all dealer fees including dest. ~400 over invoice. I was quoted around 27,500 from all dealers in the metro area. I believe I got this deal due to my "loyality" to this dealership. I've purchased 3 Hondas from them in the past 5 years. Got them to beat my 5.25% peoplefirst rate as well. 5%/60months. Your mileage may vary.
Just joined to post my experience in buying a 2006 Touring w/ RES & NAV in the DC area.
Following the advice of many on this board, I sent email requests via Honda's website to several dozen Honda dealers in the DC area and around Baltimore (despite the fact that I live close to Leesburg, VA). I also tried to get a quote via Costco's auto buying program. As others have said on this board, I found it a complete waste of time requesting quotes from all dealerships close to DC (ie, Fairfax, Arlington, Bethesda, PG county, etc.) and the Touring model appears to be excluded from the Costco program. Several local dealers offered me the "internet only" price of $38,795 (ie, full MSRP) + options (which most admitted would be over $1500) + TTL. When I pointed out that this wasn't such a special price, they usually countered that this car is "highly in demand" and that I was lucky to even get a quote at MSRP!
Long story short, make sure you ask for quotes from dealers far outside DC if you want a shot at paying less than MSRP for the fully loaded Touring. As others have pointed out (and to whom I am most indebted) make sure to include in your search the dealers in Ellicott City MD and Salisbury, MD.
I ended up buying from O'Donnell Honda in Ellicott City based on just a series of emails and phone calls with the dealership -- they initially bid $36,897 (plus $550 destination, $99 processing fee, 3% tax and $15 tag transfer fee). That price was tied with the Salisbury dealer, but when I asked both dealers to fax me a signed purchase order showing the total delivered price only O'Donnell Honda did so. Much to my surprise, when I informed O'Donnell Honda that I was purchasing from them and I gave them my home address, the salesperson knocked off (without me even asking) another $200 from the purchase price to compensate me for my need to drive over 50 miles each way to and from the dealership! Having purchased several other Honda's in the past, I fully expected to arrive at the dealer to find all sorts of "extras" that I don't want added to the car (eg, pinstripes, mud flaps, etc.) -- as promised, there was absolutely nothing added on. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that, although I authorized a $500 credit card deposit over the phone to hold the car, they did not even charge my card and held the car a full 36 hours before I showed up at the dealership. All the paperwork was ready before I arrived and I was back on the road with my new car in under 45 minutes (test drive of vehicle and careful interior inspection by my wife and 3 year old included).
Bottom line: I have purchased 10 cars thus far in my life and this was definitely the smoothest and most pleasant buying experience ever.
Thank you so much to everyone that recommended obtaining quotes from the dealers in Ellicott City MD and Salisbury, MD. To all of you thinking of buying the Touring with RES & NAV in the DC area, it will probably save you at least $1500, if not much more, to expand your search beyond the immediate DC area.
If you have already got the van, please ignore these comments.
As someone said, the $32,200 is sort of too good to be true for So. Cal. I bought mine EXL with DVD and NAVI in May and there was only 8 (of the Slate Green with Olive) in CA, and 4 of them were demos. I got it for $33,300 without any options. There was at least one dealer who offerend a demo (with a number of accessories) for below invoice, but I didn't want a "used" car.
I haven't dealt with Power Honda, but Downey Honda was one of the worse. I was trading in a 2004 Odyssey lease, and they offered really close to invoice on the 2005, and I assumed it was because it was the last day of the month. Anyway, went to do the paperwork, and they wanted me to hand my 2004 and that they will give me a rental car (I have 2 car seats in the van so it will be tight). They did not have the 2005 on the lot, and it was "on the way", and will have it there in about 10 days. What made me head for the door was that they wanted me to make the full payment for the van on that day, and not a deposit. Trust them with that kind of money, and be their hostage. No thank you.
So, I would look hard at the van, and if it is legit, go for it, because it is a fantastic deal. The vans with the navi units are the hardest to bargain with.
Nice, thanks dealguy! I'll have to expand my search to these places as well. I got a quote from Anderson Honda in Baltimore for an LX model at $800 over invoice. Seems a little high to me, but it's still lower than the quotes I'm getting from Southern PA. I don't really want to pay over invoice, but I can't wait too much longer.
Thanks to all that posted to this forum before me. I read the forum over the past couple of weeks and listened to the lessons learned from those that purchased an Odyssey. The information saved me thousands of dollars . I followed the advice of many in the forum and requested internet quotes from a number of dealers within 100 miles of my home town (Aiken SC). Several responded with specific quotes for the model I desired. Some never responded. However, armed with the available information I went to my local dealership this weekend and test drove the van. They had the color we wanted on the lot with the desired options. I did not think we would ever agree on a price as we started more than $5,000 apart :surprise: . But in the end, I came up $490 and the dealership came down the rest. While I did not get $400 above invoice, I was still pleased with the results. I also had a quote from Bernardi Honda on a 7 year/ 120,000 mile $0 deductible Honda Care warranty in hand when I went to the dealer.
Here is the deal I got after about 90 minutes of negotiations:
Base Price EX-L with RES including Destination fee, cargo tray, splash guards and wheel locks: $30, 890.00 Admin Fee: $199.50 (did not like it but agreed to pay it) SC Sales Tax $300.00 (capped at $300 by state law) Tag Transfer Fee $25 (state fee) Extended Warranty $1,000.00 (a couple of hundred better than Bernardi)
Total out the Door $32,414.50
I did have a trade-in but worked that out after agreeing to the above.
Purchased a 2006 in dealer stock silver/gray leather touring model with nav and entertainment on 10/21/05 from Jacobs Twin Honda in Chicago. We told the sales manager we found a dealer that was willing to sell at invoice and if he could beat that deal. He sold it to us at 100.00 below invoice. Beautiful deal: no haggling no financing or trade and no dealer add ons. They didn't even try to sell us extended warranty.
dealguy, Try Mainline Honda in Philly. They are selling for invoice+$700 and no additional fees. If you can go to Ohio, try Hugh White honda. They are selling for invoice + $100 doc fee.
Can you tell me your purchase price (before Tax, Title, Liscence)? Does it come with any extra (mudguard, wheel lock, etc.) Sometimes, the invoice price varies and we don't know if additional price has been added to invoice.
We got our 2006 EX-L in the Chicago area for $309 under the standard invoice price quoted on most websites, also with no trade-in, financing, add-ons (other than the foglights and mudguards I requested) or extended warranty. For some reason, Chicago seems to be pretty competitive for Odysseys.

What amazes me about car salespeople is that even if you tell them when they call you back a month later as follow up that you bought a vehicle a month ago, they call you in a week or another month to see if you still want to buy. Oh, OK, you already got a transplant, well come on down anyway, have we got a deal for you!"
The are not available on 2006 Ody's either. They'are available in Canada for both '05 and '06s
What do you have to do to turn them on in USA?
Thansk,
Is $30,147 is a good price for EXL-DVD? This price includes freight too. There is an extra processing fee of $99 and $20 Lein Holder fee + TTL.
Thanks,
DesiXP.
Is EX worth $3K more than LX?
Please share your thoughts...
Thanks,
I also got another quote with the same set up from Downey Honda 32,200 with foglightd and subwoofer also.
In most cases a fair profit and a little work (without fibbing) on your part will get you the best deal.
No trade-in involved.
Ah...you better snap that one up before they realize their mistake!
Or, maybe the So. Calif market is even more ruined than I thought it was?
You have a dealer who "says" they will sell you a NAVI/DVD Odyssey for below invoice with those accessories and you are STILL pitting dealers against each other?
I think you've been lowballed.
Nice.
Let me share a little secret...we know when our customers are lying to us and when this happens, we lose all respect for you.
We know about your "hidden trade" that you were "going to sell yourself" too.
Advise? Be upfront and honest and don't grind for the last possible cent. You will still get a great deal and both of us will leave happy.

So, I would look hard at the van, and if it is legit, go for it, because it is a fantastic deal. The vans with the navi units are the hardest to bargain with.
Good luck,
Emil
Here is the deal I got after about 90 minutes of negotiations:
Base Price EX-L with RES including Destination fee, cargo tray, splash guards and wheel locks: $30, 890.00
Admin Fee: $199.50 (did not like it but agreed to pay it)
SC Sales Tax $300.00 (capped at $300 by state law)
Tag Transfer Fee $25 (state fee)
Extended Warranty $1,000.00 (a couple of hundred better than Bernardi)
Total out the Door $32,414.50
I did have a trade-in but worked that out after agreeing to the above.
