Thanks to this forum I went to my only local Honda dealer well informed and knew exactly what I wanted pricewise or I was going to walk out and drive a few hours away to get the best deal. We got $31500 + TTL and a decent value for our trade in. Being in Florida, I guess I don't have much choice as far as Honda Care extended warranty is concerned but, I will not get it right now. We'll get the van in the color that we wanted sometime this week. Can't wait! Thanks to everyone! :)

so i just got a response from a dealer here in ky, and she said that she would sell me a 07 touring with nav and res for $1 over invoice. what do you guys think?
  • boglebogle Member Posts: 2
Amazing. You folks are getting the deals and I am lucky to pay just MRSP. Good thing I have the money.
  • coupedncalcoupedncal Member Posts: 252
At least on Ex-L and lower trims, folks are getting $500-$600 off invoice. I can't imagine touring would be any different.

Gosh. This forum rules. Thank you for the legitimate posts where I was able to get my 2007 Odyssey deal. I didn't want to post until the vehicle was in my garage (1 hour ago.)

    Out the Door - $33,200.00
    Base price including 595.00 destination - $31,774.76
    NC Tax (3%) - $953.24
    Doc fee - $398.00
    New plate - $74.00

    2007 Honda Odyssey
    Slate Green Metallic
    Olive leather interior
    DVD and Navigation
    No other added options
    MSRP - $35490

Invoice on Edmunds says $32,013.00. So, I think this ends up to be about $238.00 under invoice.

I'm happy. Though I had another dealer call me with the same price and would add wheel locks and 'another small option' if I made the 50 mile drive. I passed.

Deal was also passed up by my local dealer who sells 400 cars a month. Sales manager would only come within $50.00 of the out the door price. Nice salesman would have taken $50.00 out of his own pocket. But, I wouldn't let him do it.

I attempted to get the $1050.00 7 year/100,000 warranty as posted by another member here from
hondawarrantyinfo.com They couldn't match the price or get even close. I think my dealer wanted $1,800.00 for the same.

Thanks again. I hope my posting helps save someone else some bucks. :)

It's already been said here, but many are getting at least $500 under invoice in many different parts of the country without a great deal of effort. I got $900 under invoice on the first offer. I would try to widen your search area to get a better deal. Even if you don't get a better offer it might make the dealer willing to sweeten the quote if you tell him what you're doing and why. Let him know what prices people are paying for Oddys in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Mine was an EXL (in Illinois), but I can't see any reason why the discount shouldn't be that much or more on a Touring. The actual $ of holdback would be more on the Touring because of the higher MSRP so you should be able to get a better deal on the Touring. Good Luck.

I posted this on the board for the '04 Odyssey, but maybe here is better.

I'm thinking of buying a 2004 Odyssey - likely coming back in off a lease; the dealers seem to have a lot on their lots.

I am new to the used car buying game. I know how to run a title check and to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic before I buy, but am not sure how "puffed" the asking prices for the vehicles are.

I have a maximum that I am willing to pay for an '04 EX ($19,000), but I don't know if I should be looking at cars that are priced at $20,000 or maybe $22,000? There are so many to choose from - they even have listings under $19,000, so I know I can afford one, but I'd like to get the "best" vehicle I can (lowest milage).

About how much will an average dealer come down off the list price of a used Odyssey? Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

After much research, reading much of the postings in this forum, and emailing internet sales managers back and forth, I finally bought a slate green metallic with gray interior for $29,698.88 out the door.

The sales manager did some adjustments to the numbers but basically the sale price including the destination charge($595), the dealer document fee($487), and some other fee(s) was $27,998. Sales tax(6%) - $1,679.88; title fee - $18; and lemon law fee - $3.

I agreed on the out the door price before arriving at the dealership and the sales manager kept his word and honored our agreed upon price. On the vehicle I choose there were already cross bars installed. I chose to have them removed but the sales manager said it would cost him too much in labor to remove them so he gave them to me. I also got the cargo tray and an appearance group package which includes pinstripe and splash guards. They were included at the out the door price. To tell the truth, I'm not sure what else is included in this appearance group package which a window sticker lists as $995.

I also took advantage of the current promotion and financed $29,000 at 0.9% for 36 months.

Thanks to all who previously posted. Hope my post helps someone.

Also another dealer had agreed to sell me the same vehicle but in a different color for $29,500 out the door.

Late model Hondas tend to be pricey and are not the best bet as far as used car values go. If you can at all see your way clear to do so, it would be much better to buy a new '07. An LX can be had for just a little bit more and is a better vehicle with a full compliment of safety equipment (much of which is lacking on an '04).

To answer your question: no one can tell because it will vary somewhat depending on how much a store has in a particular car. I would think a 22K asking price is simply too high. All that you can do is find a couple of nice ones and negotiate on both to learn the bottom line on each and then make your choice. You only need to look at a few to get an idea of what's what.

And don't overlook a privately offered unit - you may be able to pick one up near wholesale from someone who is getting hosed on a trade number.

Bear in mind, too, that the condition of used cars can vary widely and it is worth spending a bit more for a premium vehicle.

Hi all. I didn't come to these boards until after I signed a lease but...does this sound like a decent deal?

07 Odyssey EX-L (no dvd or nav)
    $3,000 down at signing
    $400/mo
    36 mo @ 15K miles/yr

I just want to make sure that I worked for a decent deal. i am sure it was not the best but as i said, came here too late.

I am going to make a deal in one of the dealerships in VA this weekend. So far, the best quote I got is

    Price $32,187 (including destination charge)
    Processing fee $299
    Registration $70
    Tax (3.17%) $1,040

    OTD: $33,586

It includes appearance package of Wheel lock & Splash Gurad.

What do you guys think about this deal?
Your comment DOES help me a lot to make a better deal.
    Thanks,

Down here in Alabama, I'm returning a leased 2004 EX w/DVD RES (no leather) with 37K miles (has nose mask, cross-bars, and mudflaps). Excellent condition and Honda says I can buy it for $18,619.20 Imagine you can use that as a baseline price and go from there.
  • usaf157usaf157 Member Posts: 7
Shoot for way less (between $30,680 and $31,863) for that package plus your TTL and about $33K for the Touring w/DVD but no NAV.

I am ready to buy an EX-L and wanted to know if anyone knows the invoice on the Music Link Ipod Adapter option. I know the MSRP is $214. Anyone have any good stories on what you were able to negotiate this for? Thanks.

can you say which dealer in NJ
  • teeter007teeter007 Member Posts: 4
I just picked up the same car yesterday from a Richmond area dealer, West Broad Honda. I ended up with:

2007 EX-L with Nav & DVD in Silver
    Price $31,650 (including destination charge)
    Processing fee $249
    plus TTL

Mine also came with wheel locks, splash guards and pin stripe.

I got quotes from pretty much every dealer in VA and some in MD and they gave the best deal. I think if I tried a bit harder, I could have gotten another $200 off, but I was satisfied enough.

    Hope this helps.

It was DCHKay Honda in Eatontown. Ask for the Internet Sales Department as the floor salespeople would usually start you up with a much higher number. Good Luck.
  • trmctrmc Member Posts: 7
Can someone please explain what TTL is? Thanks

    Tax, title and license fees.

    Picked up a 07

2007 EX-L with Nav & DVD in Slate Green
    Price $31,812 (including destination charge)
    Processing fee $179
    plus TTL

Dealer Greenwhich Honda in CT. Did most of the deal over the phone and thru the internet. Very Friendly and helpful!!

I will be posting a lengthy message reguarding a Dealership to stay clear of when shopping for a Honda. I am debating wether or not to pursue a legal course.

    Hi Hondajapan,
I was not able to PM you. I am seriously considering to buy EX-L with RES (no Dvd) and dealers here in the upstate ny (albany area) are very Arrogant. Would you please e-mail me the name of the dealer (salesperson),
I have learned a lot from this forum and hope to keep learing...
    thank you all,

My dealer one state away from you in NC was at 31,776 (33,200 OTD) for the same vehicle and I felt that probably wasn't his bottom line. I'd shoot for 31,500 including destination and see what he says. I wouldn't settle for anything above 31,776. Picking up the phone and calling their competition seems to work wonders. Good luck!

Bought in time for surprise gift for my wife for valentines day:

2007 Odyssey EX - Slate Green
    Base(incl dest): $25,254
    Doc, etc: $463
    Tax (7%): $1800
    Tag/Title: $42
    OTD: $27560.00 :shades:

Best deal I found ANYWHERE, nationwide, in North Atlanta. Did the "request a quote" thing and got generic "come on in and buy from us" flab from some dealers, but a few dealers sent their internet quote in email; this was the lowest of them all in my inbox. (Atlanta is the cheapest city for Odysseys some reason). :D

Thanks to rawnak I got a similr deal in MA.
Anyone know what the procedure is for buying and picking up car out of state. I purchased from Massachussetts and am bringing the car back to NY. They want to charge me 5% MA sales tax . I think I can then pay difference and have NY collect or should I refuse to pay anything to Ma ?
  • rwgiirwgii Member Posts: 3
This board was a great tool for this deal!

    Picked up last week:

2007 Odyssey EXL - Slate Green (No RES or NAV)
    Base(incl dest): $26,960
    Doc, etc: $125
    Tax (6%): $1527.60
    w/ $1500 Trade-In Vehicle
    OTD: $28613.85

Used link for Ext Warranty (8/120 @0ded) for $1230
    (dealer wanted ~$2500).

    Couldn't be happier!

I bought in IL and brought back to IN so I can only tell you how mine worked. Dealer in IL collected IN tax rate, not IL. They were very familiar with the process and appeared to have done many out of state sales. I had no issues when getting plates back in IN.

I would just make a call to your local BMV office to confirm what you need to do. I'm sure this is a common occurance for them. Good luck.

    Hi dvrman,

    Glad to be of help.
If u want to avoid MA sales tax , u have to get letter from dealer stating that the car was delivered on flatbed truck to your home in other state.
they should have no problem giving u this letter, they may not actually deliver it though.

which dealer did u buy from in MA and what price, which model?

if u need more help , pm me.
    good luck

We have a similar discount at Sam's Club and that's what I used to start the negotiations. Basically, when I confronted the sales guy, they didn't seem to have any price/cost structure sheet with Sam's Club. He basically beat the last guy by $200.00 back and forth until we got down to a price the other guy wasn't able to match/beat. I would use this forum to come back with a price you want and tell him this was from one of his competitors and take it from there. City/State location doesn't seem to be an issue for price anymore. $30,036 is your invoice on that car including destination, not including TTL. And, many people here are getting 200-500 under invoice. What does that $31,186 include? TTL, destination.?

I am planning to buy the above model. I am San Diego based but willing to drive nearby places like LA/Riverside if getting a good deal. I am not in hurry so want to know when is the best time to get a good deal? Is it Memorial Day, Labor Day or 4th July? Right now Honda is offering 0.9% APR so I am little confused if I will get this APR during those "Good deal days". Also should I sign for Honda warranty with the dealers or should I search online like from HondaCare?
If anyone recently bought the above model from southern Cali please let me know the quotes. I appreciate any 2 cent suggestion before jump into dealers doorstep.
  • jabby27jabby27 Member Posts: 1
Honda is offering 3.9% APR. Is this negotiable?

What are opinions of the Touring vs EX-L....? What do you get for the extra $3k? Is it only the run flat tires, and a few minor console upgrades (e.g. stereo)?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
This question has been extensively (and repeatedly) discussed on the Ody owners' club website.

The difference is in excess of three. I have a Touring and think that while the EX-L is a better value, the Touring has some really nice features, including:

    - Parking sensors, front and rear;
    - Power liftgate (which cannot be retrofitted, at least not
    at any reasonable cost);
    - Second row console;
    - Auto-dimming mirror;
    - Upgraded stereo; and
    - Power adjustable pedals and memory seats.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for.
  • bwf3bwf3 Member Posts: 6
Thanks for the quick response, I think we are too going with the Touring... if only for the power lift gate! When you purchased yours, did you find that since they seem to be less common and harder to find, dealers are less to compete OR is the opposite true. I live in MN and the Twin Cities dealers are crazy, it seems you need an outside quote before they start talking even realistic numbers...

Is there any way to find out if the 3.9% APR will be extended or when it ends? We're trying to rush on buying this van because as I understand it, the last day for 3.9 is tomorrow. Thanks!
  • timetobuy1timetobuy1 Member Posts: 23
We have an offer on a touring with dvd/nav for 36,900 (in arkansas.) He's saying this is 400 over invoice...but I believe I read that invoice is 37,878 or something like that. Any advice? We're trying to get this done before the 3.9 is gone.
  • timetobuy1timetobuy1 Member Posts: 23
Sorry, I meant that I read invoice was 35,787 or something.
  • ellieandmommyellieandmommy Member Posts: 9
Last I knew that was the right invoice...35,7something. I bought my 07 touring w/nav in Dec. from a S. Cal. Dealer, Riverside Metro Honda, and got it for 34,839. (plus tt&l of course). They were GREAT to work with.
  • ukiscggukiscgg Member Posts: 1
Could you forward me the contact information for the SF Dealership you describe.; Thanks
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
There have been several posts over the couple of years about high prices in the Twin Cities - the area seems to be among the last major metro holdouts in the country. Just cast a wider geographic net.

When I bought my R&N, yes, it was harder to get a good deal not because it was a Touring but because Honda underestimated demand for R&N. It seems like now they are discounted about the same as the other Odyssey models.
  • petercapeterca Member Posts: 1
I purchased an EX-L from Burien Honda for 28503 plus TTL (9.1% in Seattle, $176 licensing). Cash, no trade-in, no dealer accessories. Most quotes I got in the Seattle area were for ~29300; but much less ~28500 for Vancouver, Wa or Portland, OR. Burien Honda was willing to match the Vancouver price so I went with them.

Can you tell me the Charlotte Dealer you dealt with..
  • dvrmandvrman Member Posts: 12
As I mentioned thnks to rawnak I got f$27703 (27404+299 doc fee)+5% MA tax from Claire Honda in Boston for a green slate odyssey EX-l no hassles, no games and had the car 2 days later with about 30 minutes of paper work.
I received a similar quote from Brewster Honda near Westchester NY.
  • vchourasvchouras Member Posts: 10
I am getting following offer from Riverside Honda
    $31,503 + Tax (7.75%) + doc fee with 0.9% APR for 36 months.
They are ready to give $30,503 but with higher APR.

I just wanna know if this is good deal.
Also if someone know any other dealer in southern cali with whom they have good experience let me know.
  • 4bearhug4bearhug Member Posts: 52
If that APR is thru Honda Finance then it sounds like the dealer is playing games with you. Your credit application will determine the APR w/ Honda Finance. The dealer should only be concerned with selling price of van. I would definitely find out who the financing is with. If they stick with that story, then I would be inclined to look elsewhere or go with the lower price and finance elsewhere. Have you shopped that price with any other dealers?

"Any advice? We're trying to get this done before the 3.9 is gone."

My local dealer just called to inform me the 0.9/3.9 interest rated has been extended thru March. :):)

I tried to buy an 2007 Ody EX-L from two different local dealers and they lost my business because of the $995 "fluff" packages they have on the vehicle. Now he is calling to let me know the interest rate has been extended and can find me a vehicle without the "fluff" (my words, not his).
  • chirpchirp Member Posts: 194
I bought my 2006 Touring in May last year for $33,947 and that included the destination charge of $550. I would not pay $36,900 for the same van today. That is no deal.
