BernardiWarranty.com Bernardi Honda, Natick, MA
My best written quote came from Honda of Seattle that was just under $30k including the accessories. I ended up buying from Honda of Bellevue earlier this month because they gave good service throughout the buying process, are convenient to my office and beat Honda of Seattle's quote.
Any help is great.
We are looking for a 2007 EX-L or a well maintained 2005/6 EX-L. However seeing the rate of depreciation on these (based on some online listings), we feel a 2007 is not much more than a 05/06.
Anyway 2 questions --
1) Is it worth waiting until September/October time frame to get a "GREAT deal" on the 07 model (assuming that is when the 08's come out?
2) We live in St Louis MO and make periodic trips to Chicago area. Don't mind going up to Chicago for buying a new car. But what is a realistic price in chicago land for a EX-L?
thanks in advance in helping out a newbie
Whether it's worth waiting until Sep-Oct is something that you'll have to decide. The incentives might get sweetened or the 0.9% finance rate might come back. The available choices/colors will dwindle the longer you wait as dealers start ordering 08 models.
I am working a deal and it is no way as good as yours. Looksl ike you got the base car less than 6% below dealer invoice. I thought I had it good at 4% below dealer invoice.
Since my time frame is flexible, I'm going to really shop around. The finance deal is surely attractive to consider an early purchase...
Thank you
Your best bet is to look at the deals that other members are reporting and compare yours to theirs. I see you posted in the Odyssey Lease Questions discussion, so you might want to look at other posts there - if car_man has info that might help you, I'm sure he'll post it, but be aware that we can't know every best deal on every vehicle at all times! Thanks for your patience.

However the price of 27,xxx appears what an EX-L would cost if you were to PURCHASE and avail of the 4.9% APR that is being offered currently. I say this in full confidence since I got 2 quotes yesterday that were only couple hundred dollars apart. These were from reputed dealers in Illinois and Missouri.
Hope this helps... Good luck!

Splash guards, wheel and door edge moldings and wheel locks were included. We didn't purchase a warranty or any other accessories.
thanks.
Here is my buying experience, with the dealer Gwinnett Honda, Georgia. After two visits, haggle for the price, i have to settle for a Honda Odyssey EX-L with RES for 31,050
grin(OTD)which included county tax 7%.
At the end, i felt if i had bargained better i could have saved $500 dollars more. I do not know what i got is good deal. But definitely, i have seen with out DVD we can the same vehicle for $1500 dollars less. As i have two small kids i have opted for the DVD and settled there.
BTW, i have added extended warrenty for 72 months(or 100,000 mileage)for additional $1200 bugs. Is that OK? I have taken finance with 2.9%apr with zero down payment.
Hope this helps for other future buyers
MSRP: $35,490
Invoice: $32,503
My Price: $31,221.33
Docs: $55
Sales Tax: $2423.92
DMV Fees: $291
CA Tire Fee: $8.75
OTD Price: $34,000
Includes Protection Package: mud flaps, edgeguards, wheel locks, trunk tray. I got 4.9 financing for 60 months. I came to them with my OTD Price - I would not budge on this, even when they went through their song-and-dance tactics. They were nice, but I think they realized I wasn't there to negotiate - only to get my price.
I'm satisfied with the price, though I wonder if I could've gone even lower. But in the end, I got the price I wanted. I hope this helps everyone.
doc fee $58.48
Tax $2370.65
LTT $80.00
Price (including above accessories) $35,837.00
I'm not so sure about these guys so be careful. I still have some business with them so I will keep you posted.
I grew up in Coral Springs and lived in Coconut Creek until 2005 when my wife and I moved to Colorado. I am VERY familiar with the CS Auto Mall. I had two HORRIBLE experiences there - one at Honda and one at Nissan - where they played the hide-your-keys, lowball your trade, make you feel stupid games.
BOTH TIMES they wanted me to write them a $500 "good faith" check before they would negotiate a deal - you know, "to show I was serious." I thought the first time was a fluke so imagine my surprise when I went back years later and they played the same game.
BOTH TIMES I walked right out the door and never heard from them again. Sorry about your experience, but I don't trust those guys at all...
Thanks so much!
I did it via their internet dept (Mr. Davenport) . No hassel price was 27,700 inc destinatin charge. Keenan had a a number of colors to choose from in the lot inventory , which were the internet cars. Of the four local dealers I worked with, Keenan was most competitve and by far the most professional.
Internet Sales straight forward, fast, efficient.
Bloomfield Honda; didn't really try and haggle.
Please advice.
Thanks,
V
We are looking to buy a Odyssey EX-L w/RES this weekend...Michigan City dealer has the exact one we are looking at...what should be our starting point?...any one with price experience with Northwest Indiana?...
Thanks in advance
ValpoMan
we are in the same boat, looking to buy soon but not sure what market will be best. we are in Indy and willing to go to Chicago, Ft. Wayne, Mich, Louisville, Cincy, etc. really within 3 hrs. drive.
please keep us posted....
I started with online quotes and will call costco tomorrow, though after reading here, doesn't sound like our best bet. I sent out requsts to louisville, chicago and indy.
I sent out quote requests last night, hopefully will hear back later today.
So what it boils down to is that the stupid 9 inch dvd system is 1400 more. (which I want) email me at donkeypunch827@hotmail.com if you have Q's.
I got a quote from Carr Honda, said just shy of 27,000. I asked for more specifics, but he did say includ. dest. I will update here as I get more info. I also asked for quotes from a few others in Chi area.
No big specials here either. I am hoping that everyone will be all about the race and the dealerships will be dead. Are dealers open on Sunday there? That would help us in being able to drive up after seeing what's going on here.
Yeah shy of 2700 is for EXL, no res. Ask him what his RES price is. Dealers are closed on Sunday in IL.
Fiona if you please
$29100 Sale Price
$1881 Tax and Tags
$30,981 OTD price
They had a lot of Odysseys on the lot and they appeared to be in a dealing mood and I when I picked mine up yesterday, two others were also being delivered.
I went into the dealer with online quotes of $27,995-28,850 plus tax and tags that I got strictly through email. (cars.com) To my suprise the salesman started the discussion with $29,990 so I started negotiating at less than all my on-line quotes. If I was going for a clean deal it would have been a much esaier discussion ,but the trade-in complicated things.
Difficult to really get my hands around it but I think I paid $28,200 OTD which in my NY is 8% sales tax so the car cost was around $26,100. They tried to ding me for a lot of inceidentals like a car wash (errr, dealer prep), so be careful.
This forum was a real help. Did I get a good deal? Who really knows. When you leave the dealer you always feel like you got taken and have a real slug in your gut, but I can say that I paid $100 over my pre-dealing absolute best deal that I had written down on paper going in, so I feel pretty good.
We're headed to the dealership in the morning to hopefully make a deal and all of my research (TMV, etc) and online dealer quotes are coming back $300-$800 over invoice for EX-L (w/o TTL and no Nav/RES). Cheapest internet dealer quote has been $28340 and I thought that was decent until reading the latest posts here tonight. Getting an EXL for $26-27K+/-...that's amazing to me! And getting the van far below their previously noted internet quotes...is this typical??
Any further advice on getting a fair deal??
Using Invoice price of $28159, MSRP of $31095. figured a holdback of 3% ($933) and the $750 dealer marketing $$ put their cost at around $26476. Add on the destination of $595 for a total of $27071 and it would seem that they are selling for $71 below their cost.
Now, I'm sure they're making a profit somehow. Still though, if anyone in the SF Bay Area has other experiences, I'd love to hear them, and if we pull the trigger I'll be sure to post an update.
