couldn't find one in white. i am *so* sick of sitting in a grey interior. I would have taken purple, quite frankly, to get a tan interior. tan means white, red or black ( ). I couldn't find red or white. only pearl, the light green the grey etc....
there was a nice gold one on ebay but 1) dont' like gold (was getting willing to overlook) but the title wasn't clear!
curry has a white/tan 06 here with nav/res and it's gorgeous *except* for the cracked winsheild and missing middle plusone seat. they were such a hassle to deal w/ wrt new, I can only imagine worse scenarios wrt used. they were asking 29.9 with the crack and missing seat and i just didn't want the hassle.
though I am kind of wishing that maybe I'd taken up the hassle..... i have a garmin that's fine, but i want that big nav screen with voice and steering wheel controls, yk?
k
make sure it also includes doc, cargo liner, mud flaps, security etching (that $200 fee is printed separately on the papers for all of the dealers....but most include it in the quotes....some shady ones keep it out and suprise you with the fee at the end"
try for this:
$25954 (inclusing dest, doc, muds, cargo liner, security etching, paint protection, pinstripes etc)
plus TTL.
I bet you can get there or close. Just email them all (from honda's website) telling them that you're
"ready to go and whomever can get you OTD at 26000+plus nothing but TTL has the deal. Please confirm in writing your total price (incl dest, doc, muds, cargo tray, security etching etc etc) plus TTL and that you have 'x' color in stock at a total OTD price of 'y'. Upon confirmation of the above, I will call immediately with a deposit. etc etc"
Hope you get a great price!!!
K
I would love to know what anyone in this discussion group thinks of the PAX system (yes, I've already read the PAX discussion).
Thanks,
Jon
Thanks
4 dealers within $100. EX-L RES was being quoted $28000 - $28500.
Sales guy said November for '08's. Had 90+ '07's on the lot.
Not sure about the current mix but I know that Honda initially expected only about 15% of Odysseys to be Touring models - hence, not as many sold so fewer folks talking about pricing.
Honda only lists two '08 Touring models. My guess is that all '08 Tourings will have NAV/RES and the model distinction will lie solely with whether PAX equipped or not.
someone mentioned they had it for 29000 base (dest/doc incl)...only add ons would be TTL. That would be a little low for my area....there is regional difference based on supply, demand.....
I could probably have gotten OTD (incl TTL at 7% ga sales tax in my county) at 31400 with exl res/nav but many dealers would have said no way and someone would have come thru.
k
so for the res/nav poster, you'd basically just add 3k which would put you otd at 31.4
k
i'd only see someones reply, not your original message when i looked up the original message, it said OTD plus tax....so it wasn't really OTD.....OTD would include TTL...your number is prior to your TTL, but it's a really really good one!!!! don't hesitate.
enjoy the new car!
k
ime it was much much more successful to have a target number in there. The dealers were much more competitive. 31,400 is really the bottom line for res/nav otd and may not be possible at 7.75 sales tax so at least this gives them a little room to respond. you'll see the bottom number come up quickly.......personally, i don't like price matching. i like to go with the guy who is willing to get there the first time.
have your own financing ready from lendingtree, eloan, capitolone, your own credit union, usaa etc.....be ready to move. when that number comes in at the right spot, pounce on it.
1) Log into the Honda.com website and click on "find dealer" (DONT use the request quote button).
2) At that point, select "request a quote) after you have list of dealers.
3. Fill out your info. I wouldnt put a phone number down, you call them if you want...they don't call you.
Ask for the following:
- Obviously request model your looking for in dropdown.
- In "comments" section put something to the effect:
Would like an OTD (out the door) quote on EXL RES NAV taking into consideration the 2K dealer incentive. Will call immediately with a deposit to the best OTD quote guaranteed in writing, that has 'x' color available. (if color is important to you) Trying to get to 31,400 OTD or as close as possible. Please respond with your most competitive compelling quote as we're ready to go now.
Please itemize charges:
Base Price (including destination+doc, muds, cargo tray, security etching etc etc)
tax (state your sales tax if it varies by county in your area)
title
license
any other possible fee
Checking with several dealers in the area and will be pulling the trigger asap on the best OTD number from a dealer willing to guarantee the quote in writing.
Your promptness and bottom line is much appreciated.
hit send
4. Go Back to "find dealer" enter your zip and you'll get the same list. select 'request quote" by the next dealer and this same form that you initially entered will be available. just press send.
5. repeat to at least 8 dealers in your area if your in a metro area. I'd send to everyone. OMIT the Dealer that is the most ideal location to your home. [that's the original advice, personally, i didn't do that. if someone further out is doing their best to give me the best deal, i'm going to do my best to make the drive and get there....not screw them by taking the quote local and price matching]
6. Sit back..you're in the drivers seat.
7. Wait for quotes to come in.
8. You'll find out who's serious.
-many will try to get you to come in and will refuse to give numbers at first
- some will give you HIGH price
- some wont respond (amazingly enough)
- a few will give you a pretty aggressive price
- you may end up with a clear cut low ball great price
9. Forget about the highballs and the folks that want you to call to get a price. Keep the emails so you can respond later and tell them the number you did get. I think it's important to keep them honest.
10. Since 31,400 is the lowest avail for otd on ex-l res nav, if anyone gets there, grab it and have them guarantee in writing. if it's just close let them all know you have a few others that are right there and that you'd like to buy from them. Your making the decision in the immediately and want to buy today. Is this your best price? (if you want any accessories, nows the time to ask for them).
11. Wait for your responses. Hopefully you should have a pretty good price (better than you have from your other guy).
12. original advice here is to take quote to closest dealer and have them pricematch - I'm willing to go the extra mile for the guy who was willing to go the extra mile (pricewise) for me.
13. If no one responds, or they say 'this is the best we can do', go back to the person with best quote and requalify the details? "You have this color in stock and this price includes dest, doc, tax, title, licence, lemon law fees etc etc etc? Please respond with written verification and include VIN. Upon receipt of verification, I will call with a deposit. They reply in writing with a "yes", then call them and go pull the trigger sticking to the exact negotiated details.
13.5 When you show up. Drive the EXACT VAN you are buying. Make sure you like it, no rattles, etc. Inspect it for scratches, etc. Should be fine, but make sure. You've come this far, don't overlook final details.
14. Show up with your own financing as txchix notes and ask honda if they can beat it. If they can, go that route. If not, stick with your financing. Don't show up without financing or your likely to get the "best we can do is 8.5% routine. (for financing check e-loan and capitalone.com, lending tree and USAA (if you have access) and any local credit union.
15. Do all negotiation back forth via email. DONT GO IN until you have a deal. If you go in without a deal being done your prone to wasting your time or caving and not getting a great deal. good luck.
16. Lastly, after putting the screws to everyone (who would otherwise be putting the screws to you)..do honor the final deal and dont try to pull the I'm here...throw in "this" and I'll buy. Im a personal beleiver in negotiation, but when you finalize on a deal...honor it and don't try to squeeze blood.
However the financing part didn't go as smooth as I hoped.
Here is what I learned: negotiate the finance via email or phone and have it written before taking delivery. Best is to get finance elsewhere before you come to the dealership.
Here is what happened to me.
The sales person is great. I got the car I wanted with the price we agreed on. However I had to wait for a couple of hours for the finance manager to do the financing. The finance manager charged me 1.5 point higher APR than I could get from my credit union. But after so much trouble, I was too tired to walk out and get the loan from the credit union. The finance manager seems to know how to take advantage of such situation.
The worst part is that after waiting for weeks for the final loan documents, I found out via repeated phone calls to the finance manager that more documentations are required. Weeks of painful back and forth with the finance manager followed.Instead of pro-actively solving the problem, he was impatient and sometimes rude. Finally I got in touch with the lender and the problem was finally resolved.
For those in south Florida, I recommend avoiding the finance department of Sherwood Honda.
$29,750 - includes the dest fee, muds and cargo tray. TTL are extra. Please advise if this is a good price.

A 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L with RES and NAVI
$32,400 Base price (includes a moonroof wind deflector, mud guards, and the fabric protectant)
Plus TT&L, which worked out to be about $35K out the door.
I know it's high, but it was the best deal I could negotiate for my friend. And I know the fabric protectant is worthless, but he tossed it in anyways)
The deal was at Trickett Honda in Madison, Tennessee. Not the best of deals, but not too bad.
My friend took the 4.9% APR financing for 60 months, instead of the $2000 cash back.
:shades:
I leveraged an internet quote from a competing dealer to get a lower price from the local one.
Going againest my own advice and others on the board, I decided to go down as it is close to my house. My initial quote was 24561 for EXL base price. The sales manager looked at the quote and said the original dealer didn't add in destination charge and they were probably doing a bait and switch. He then offered to honor their price for 24561 + 635 destination charge for total of 25196 as long as I gave them a perfect score if Honda calls for survey of customer satisfaction.
The sales guy said their customer satisfaction dropped a little so they wanted to boost it up. So total with TTL OTD price is 26740.
I think I did pretty good. I am getting Midnight Blue EXL which they are expecting delivery sometime this week, so it is BRAND NEW!
I was looking at splash guards and cargo liner but they charge too much and won't probably discount it at the price I got. Might just buy it at bernardiparts.com like someone else mentioned. Anyone know how hard it is to put the splash guards on yourself?
Also, I heard when I pick up the car, to check the power sliding doors for whining noises or rattle. Anything else?
Thanks to everyone for all of your help!
Questions for the board :
The dealer was trying to sell me a secure etch for $250 ? What is this option and is this not included ?
If I need to pay for it what is a reasonable price.
thanks.
Thank you in advance.
What was your price on the Oddy EXL R&N BEFORE TTL??
Thanks!

I tried helping other members of this board to get the same price but the dealer refused.
The best I've been offered is $29,587 on an EXL Navi +DVD.
In TN, we add roughly 10% for an OTD price.
So you got a great deal!
What color did you get?
The best price I was able to get after many dealers is $30,250 OTD for EXL with DVD and Navi which is about $300 less than your price. This is in NJ.
About $30,200 OTD for DVD only.

Please let me know whether this is a good price to go with. There are no additional options included in the above quote. Please suggest the additional good to have accessories. I'll post my experience once I close the deal.
any thoughts? Is this a good price?
