Thanks.
Thanks, Ambro
I don't think that you can get around the destination charge... I think it's a standard charge (we even get charged it here in Hoover, Alabama, when we're about an hour drive from the manufacturing facility where they make Odysseys).
For the person that was quoted one price for all cash versus another (higher) price for financing....don't fall for that crap. The price you pay for the car should not depend on whether you pay cash or finance. In fact, the dealer makes more money when you finance, as they get kick backs and such from the finance company.
Nobody seems to be willing to go lower than this. It might be due to the limited stock - there aren't many 2007's around here, so they are counting on them being gone soon.
Has anybody, preferably in Texas, seen anything better than this, or is this going to be as good as it gets?
Tax: $2,948.96
License: $308.75
Documentation: $55
Total OTD: $39,002.71
Can I do better in the SF Bay Area?
Thanks,
Charles
Started pricing at sticker of $35,530 added about $800 in dealer added accessories (mud flaps, stripe, fabric/paint protectant)...Got to $36,256 then took $4,500 off to get to the $31,756.
Should I come back with a figure that starts at the Invoice ($32,227) or TMV ($30,416) price and take the offered $4,500 off and they add TTL? This would get me an OTD of around $28,000.
Thanks for any help/suggestions.
You can do better than that... try Precision Honda in Jasper and Sunny King Honda in Oxford (near Anniston); both of those places quoted me under $30,000 for that same vehicle a couple of weeks ago. The tax rate in Oxford is 2.5%, so you save on taxes there also.
I've been impressed with the responses to my emails from both of these places. I'll probably buy an 07 EX from one of the two in the next week or so.
$32,187 invoice
- $2,500 incentive
- $1220 holdback
= $28,467.
You'll have to figure out how much all that other stuff is worth to you.

hey siggie1,
Do you know what the similar breakdown would be for an 07 EX ?
I'm looking at one of those to purchase soon.
Thanks.
My price was 26,750 which included destination but not a 499 doc fee and TT&L. Basically 27,250 before TT&L. I think I did okay?? My brother-in-law is in the market for the exact same vehicle. He doesn't have the time to do the research so I thought I would give him a hand. Before I tell him that my price would be a good benchmark of what not to go over, I wanted to hear from some of you pros. Thank you in advance for any replies.
As good a success story in this forum as I've ever read.
We bought our new 2007 Slate Green with Gray interior Res & Nav last evening, thanks to everyone for your help and advice!
Here's the breakdown:
Base includes destination: $29,187
Trade in $6500 ( 01 T&C LTD AWD) Not too happy about that, but didn't want to be hassled selling it privately, some things need fixing, didn't want to put any $ into it...
Tax 6 % $1374.96
DMV $100
Tax Credit $390.xx
Dealer Proc Fee $229 (I know... I know!)
Total OTD 30,890.96
Ended up with 5.24 % financing through American Honda.
I think we did pretty well.
Picking up van tomorrow afternoon...
Thanks again!
The sales manager end up talking to the General manager to approve the deal. I think the price is really hard to beat. Finaced $18000 with Penfed @ 5.29%/60m. without any problem, got approved instantly.
Now, I just need to DIY install a backup camera and Bluetooth.
Thanks everyone in this forum, and good luck hunting the Odyssey.
No trade involved, no financing involved. It was a clean deal so its a good benchmark.
My long-time salesman says it went to 2% in January '07. Others here contend it's still 3%.
Sure wish somebody (Isell?) would provide a definitve and authoritative answer.
I would not be concerned in the slightest if it's a dealer trade. Such transactions happen all the time. However, if not traded, it's likely been a demo and I, for one, wouldn't want anything to do with it. Well, that's a bit harsh - it might be better to say that they couldn't discount it enough to interest me.
After seeing some of the awesome, below-invoice deals, on the EX-L that some have posted, I thought I would drop some inquiries on my local Honda dealer sites offering 23,300 + TTL on an EX (no leather) to see who would bite.
I received and email (not a phone call, in accordance to my online request) from a nice british salesman R. W. ( http://edvoyleshonda.com/Department-Internet.aspx for his full name) of Ed Voyle Honda in Marietta, GA within a few hours saying that the 23,324 including destination but not doc fees was doable. I called him in the afternoon to confirm he had an EX with gray interior in a light color and he confirmed he would hold the keys to the last slate green '07 till I got there. I asked him the doc fees and he quoated a reasonable $498. I say reasonable because the total cost before TTL was 23,822, which is $303 below invoice and including the $2500 factory-to-dealer incentive. He calculated my OTD price right over the phone.
We arrived and did the requisite drive with my wife. My wait for finance was 15-20 minutes. I spent all of 15 minutes with Nestor the finance manager who took OFF another $24 because I did not need to pay an emissions charge and the Ody was ready to go with a full tank of gas within 2 hours of the time I first arrived at the dealership. I could have been done sooner, but left to visit a nearby CarMax to get an estimate on selling my Camry outright (left because the wait was too long).
I imagine I could have bickered for a few more dollars, but I have no problem with a great dealer keeping a little of the holdback to stay in business, Richard getting his $100 minimum deal, a few dollars for the finance and prep guys.
They still have plenty of '07 EX-Ls and Tourings. If you go, tell RW that Inzune referred you and he promised me $100 referral fee! (They sure make that $498 doc go a long way!)
Thanks again to everybody for sharing. Email me if I can answer any questions because I do not check the forum often.

MSRP: $35490
Vehicle Cost: $32187
Markup: -$3220
Total Selling Price: $28,967
Fees & Insurance: $599.95 (this is added to the "Total Selling Price" - my interpretation is that this is a dealer fee)
Take away the $2000 incentive and the markup is $1220. The markup as a percentage taken of the MSRP before destination (because the destination is a fixed cost/charge) is 1220/34895 = 0.03496. In other words, 3.5%. The salesman claimed that $1220 is the amount his management gave him to "play with." Whether that ate into the dealer fee, and the markup (holdback) is less than the $1220, I don't know.
On Nov 17 I leased an 08 Touring with similar (relative) pricing. The "markup" for the 08 Touring was $1166.40.
I just purchased a 2007 EXL-RES in Chicago. I received quotes from several area dealers, with the lowest offer coming in at $26,630 including destination. They had the color my wife wanted, so I went in to deal. I went to Carmax on the way and got my trade appraised at $11,500, which I thought was low. The dealer offered me $500 less than CarMax on my trade. I was disappointed with the offer, although with sales tax considerations the dealer offer was a couple hundred ahead. I pushed back and was able to get all-weather floor mats, splash guards and wheel locks thrown in. Not a great concession, but it got the deal done.
The only other fees were tax, title and license. I was skeptical about this dealer because he was 300-400 below everyone else, and no one would match his cost. I thought I'd get there and they would have "just sold it" or something like that, but it went pretty smooth.
If anyone is interested, they still have a couple more in stock. E-mail me if you want details: space_wrangler at comcast dot net.
This forum was extremely helpful. Special thanks to donkeypunch for his various posts on how to solicit quotes. I actually went in looking for $25,400 as my base cost, due to the post he later corrected (stating that price was actually for exl w/o res) so I probably upset some dealers by being unrealistic. Oh well, it wasn't the first and won't be the last time.

The only way to come out in decent shape is to sell the vehicle yourself; then, you retain the "profit" that some other dealership would otherwise make. I don't know why more people don't do that... it's not that hard.
At this price the dealer was still making about $1000.00. The person who wrote up the deal shared this with me.
There must be some additional money in there besides the holdback.
MSRP = $35530 (includes destination)
Invoice = $32,227
Less factory cash of $2,500 = $29,727
My price = $28,978
Difference between my price and all incentives applied = $749
If holdback is 2% (or $710), the dealer would more or less break even, which is unlikely. As stated above there was still another grand in there.
Purchased a 2007 EX-L RES and NAV + Options(Fog lights, tray, mats, 3rd row sunshade + Protective interior and exterior coating)
OTD = $33K in Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Mud guards were thrown in for free.
Got better financing than my credit union. Allowed to put more money down on credit card so I get cash back on it.
Was this a good deal?
Thanks
I would like know the dealer from where you got this best price. I am basically looking at the same vehicle.
I am planning to by a new 2007 Honda Oyssey EXL with RES and NAV or 2007 Honda Oyssey EXL with RES . I still did not decide with in the 2 models. Please help me which dealer is giving the best price in chicago on 2 models if you bought any of the 2. I went with couple of dealers but they gave me like 30,800 with taxes and document fees for RES and NAV. and 29,700 with taxes on RES
heck no! the real world trade in board is very helpful. pretty much all of the tools/books etc overvalue trades from the perspective of the person holding the potential trade.

Anybody else done this?
