hi, welcome st louis car shopper,
I got the quote from this deal. but I find it is difficult to lower it in this area. LX for 22064, EX for 24890.
    ---------------------
    MSRP is $32,845
Your cash or non special financing purchase price on the EX with leather is $27,801
Purchase price with special financing is $28,801**
** 0.9% for 36 months or 2.9% for 48 or 60 months with approved credit.

Add $1440 for Rear Entertainment System (RES).
Add $3,250 for RES and NAVI (navigation system)

I just bought one for $28,379 +TTL, but I financed at 4.75% through Honda. I think your better off taking the 2k off of the sales price. If you have good credit, you can find a decent rate below 5%.
  • nkyhondankyhonda Member Posts: 8
Yes I have 2 from competing dealerships both matching the price.
  • nkyhondankyhonda Member Posts: 8
28,500 + ttl with the 2.9% was the best I could do on the EL-X with RES

I purchased a 2008 Odyssey EX-L NAV RES on Feb. 29. It was great for the first 2,000 miles. Now, it won't start. The dealer replaced something in the fuel line 2 weeks ago. We thought it was fixed, but after about 500 miles, we had the same problem. Yesterday I was stranded in a parking lot with my 3 year old! The dealer towed it, but has not yet diagnosed the problem. Has anyone heard of any problems like this? I am soooooooo disappointed in Honda and my dealership. I traded in a 2004 Sienna with 87,000 miles (never any service issues). The dealer's GM won't return my calls and the service department is defensive and rude. Any suggestions?

Can you send me the name of the dealership, city and state? If you could e-mail me the sales person's name and phone # I'd appreciate it. My e-mail address is jpmbillsfan@yahoo.com.

The dealership in NW Ohio I'm working with is saying out the door pricing for a 2008 Odyssey EX is $27,951 (base price for vehicle $25,895+ doc fee, tax, title & tag). I'll drive to Illinois to save $2250. Thanks.

Check into the Lemon Laws -- you can invoke it if you have the same problem enough times in this first year. I am sure they won't tell you whether you qualify, so you will need to check on it yourself.

Can I ask where you were able to get this? I've been told 28,500 for an EX-L w/RES, but won't do the 2.9%
  • bertabongbertabong Member Posts: 10
    $28,597.57 - vehicle MSRP is $34,445 (over $5800 savings)

    $635 - destination

    $99 - processing

    $1,759.89 - taxes **6% effective January 1st, 2008!!!!

$290 - new tags (or $120 to transfer tags).

Total on the road price $31,381.46

This is with 2.9% financing. Is this a GOOD price? I am in Baltimore Area

I got four quotes from neighboring Honda dealers. 2 came in at $24,000 plus TTL. So I went into El Cerrito Honda (San Francisco Bay area) which is across the street from me and they matched that price with no hassle. (They threw in door guards and wheel locks.)

    So it ended up being

    $24,0000 car
    $2104.81 tax (8.75%)
    $55 Doc fee
$229.74 Official fees (License, Registration, Tire)

    Total OTD was $26389.56.

    Car color is Ocean Mist.

They would not give me the 2.9% financing unless they added a $1000 to the price. I chose the 4.9% financing and left it at that. If I do not pay it off sooner then the 2.9% would have saved me $250 dollars over the 5 years, so I did not see a big difference either way. I suppose you could aways do better in price but this seems to be a reasonable price as to what you can do.

Looking forward to not have cram my 2 dog, 2 daughters, and wife into our Civic anymore.

Honda East in Anderson, OH is where I got the deal, they have a meet or beat policy. I took the deal I got from Superior Honda in Cincinnati which I have as an email from their sales manager, and made them beat it. They balked at first and said it couldn't be done, but in the end their internet sales person matched it. Most dealerships would match the 28500 just not with the 2.9%.

We are getting our EX-L w/RES and NAV on Thursday. I'm still not sure if I should purchase Honda Extended Warranty.
Can the warranty still be purchased over the Internet ? If yes, any suggestions which places might offer a good deal ?
Would you recommend Honda Care for New Vehicles or Honda Care for Used Vehicles (what's a good time to purchase the warranty --> before 6 K?)
    Thanks !

Hi, all, I just got a price quote from a dealer in northern VA,
    EX: 23318 + TTL + Destination
    EX-L: 26138 + TTL + Destination
Do you guys think it's fair enough?
besides, for those who have kids, do you think it's better to get the ex-l model with leather seats? easier to clean?
how do you guys think if it's necessary or not to have a moon window? thanks all.

I recently purchased my new '08 Odyssey EX from Jay Honda, near Cleveland, OH. Great folks to deal with there and they quoted the best price of all the Cleveland area dealers I contacted via the internet!

    Breakdown is as follows:

    $23,912 (Base)
    $ 635 (Destination)
    $ 250 (Document Fees)
    $ 1,506 (Sales Tax)
    $ 21 (Tile & License Fees)
    ----------
    $26,324 (OTD)

Quick, easy, and no-hassles!! Negotiated everything on-line, went in and test drove vehicle and then signed the papers. They also price matched an Extended Warranty quote I received on-line from Bernardiwarranty. I will email you the name of the salesperson I worked with. Good luck!!

We live in downstate Illinois. We know that folks in Ohio and the east coast areas can get lower deals, but does anyone have any insight or advice about the central/southern Illinois market? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just bought my 2008 Touring last night!!! Baltic Blue with Gray interior.

Here is the deal I got in Ohio:

$33,854 with splash guards included (this included destination charge; also I did not want the splash guards but they were already on there so they gave them for "free"). Doc Fee $250. Sales Tax $2302.02 (6.75%). Title and license fees $15.50. total out the door $36,421.52.

I think I got a decent deal, as I checked with 3 other dealers --- one was $1000 above this and not willing to deal at all; one was $295 higher but not willing to get the color I wanted and they only would let me choose the white, silver or gray on the lot although they would throw in all season mats; one dealer was $195 higher but would throw in the mats so essentially close to the deal I got, but the sales person told me they had my color on the lot, but when I showed up to buy it, found out that it had magically been "sold" a day earlier and they would have to drive one in for me but then it would have over 200 miles on it because he would have to go to Kentucky to get one. I felt a bit hostile about the whole thing, especially when I found the color and everything in my home town and less than 70 miles away.
Go to Wally Scisson at Voss Honda in Tipp City, Ohio ; right off of I-75, near the I-75 and I-70 intersection. Best experience EVER buying a car. Of course I had negotiated it all prior to going there.

Also no dealers around here were willing to go lower on the $250 doc fees.
MSRP was $40645. Not sure of exact dealer invoice but I think it was about $36580 before TTL.

Was also thinking of getting EX-L with Res&Nav but once I test drove these v. the Touring, I decided to get the touring -- power liftgate good when hands are full, I need the parking sensors!, and the bluetooth is a feature I did not think I needed but I love it!

    Good luck!!

I think the leather is better for kids as at least mine tend to spill
    leather cleans better
moon window - necessary? no, but fun, yes!!!

PS - I also considered the Town & Country but did not get it ---
it did have features that were nice like the back seat that powers into the floor and that makes a seat that faces out the rear of the car, the 2 DVD players, the swivel and go, the heated 2nd row seats, the sirius backseat TV, and the table -- those were the big advantages that I saw in the T&C over the Oddy. However, there were a few limiting factors for me, including the fact that 1) most of the dealers I contacted (all 4) did not call me back, did not answer my emails at all! 2) the one dealer who did contact me neglected to tell me the incentives she was sharing with me would likely change at the end of the month -- she gave me a quote on 3/30, and as I went back and forth asking other questions, told her on 4/10 that I wanted to buy, and then she told me that the incentives had all changed, then told me that even with the friends pricing of 1% below invoice that she would charge me the friends admin fee and the doc fee both despite the program saying they can only charge the $75 so I got fed up 3) the seats are very light colors, and the top of the line Chrysler has suede so I could see those being a big mess even with fabric protector 4) many of the options did not seem well planned or thought out -- the table had a big anchor in the floor that looked like it was bolted on as an afterthought, the homelink was in the sunvisor and seemed flimsy, the rear camera was fuzzy and not nearly as good as the Oddy, the Mygig system seemed very complex, and also, I did not have a need to load in photos or my whole cd collection when I can just connect my ipod, and I just did not think I could look at the analog clock in the dash center every day, with the big air vents on either side of it--- it just struck me as they could not figure out how to better lay out the space on the dash, I found the controls on the steering to be very non intuitive, and 5) the way the car drove it did not handle nearly as well as the Oddy, and finally 6) reliability over time / consumer reports / total cost of ownership

I know everyone here is already probably buying the Oddy but if you are like me and on the fence I thought you might find it helpful!

I agree 100% - I would never do anything but leather with the kids!
  • bowtiefan1bowtiefan1 Member Posts: 25
The prices quoted seem very fair.

Leather vs. fabric? Depends on personal preference. I prefer fabric just because I thinks it's more comfortable (warmer in the Winter and cooler in the Summer). As for maintenance, the fabrics and the coatings the manufacturers now use are very durable. Spills wipe up pretty easily. Our last vehicle was a Caravan with a cloth interior and we had no problems cleaning-up the messes made by our small kids. So, it's really what you prefer.

Sunroof? Again, personal preference. I'm not fond of sunroofs because I don't like the sun beating on my head.

All this said, an EX was the one for me. If you want NAV and RES, however, you have to go with the EX-L or Touring. I would like to have had the RES as an option with cloth, but it's not offered. I will have to get an aftermarket system if I want it. Good luck!
  • hyperpippihyperpippi Member Posts: 4
We've never had a problem with fabrics, and our 3 year old has bad reflux, so the fabric definitely has been tested. Plus, leather is really sticky if you ever have to sit on it during the summer after working out. It's miserable to go for a run and then have to get in a car with leather seats.

We just got a base LX, blue, at Valley Honda in Aurora IL. With the etching and key replacement (our only added feature) and doc fees of $150, our total was $21941. We had a tradein worth $1200 (1997 saturn SL2 with 125K miles) and tax was $1427. So our total price was $22,168. If you remove the value of the trade-in, our OTD was $23368.

GET THE WARRANTY!!!! My Odyssey has 3,000 miles and I've used Honda Care twice. Right now, they're paying for my rental while my Odyssey (see my earlier Lemon post) is in the shop -- again. Honda Care has been great, but the best advice I can give you is to get a Sienna!!!!!

Hi there! I too am in the Bay Area, and am shopping for an EXL DVD RES in Ocean Mist (cool color!).

I got quotes from 2 dealers for $28,900 incl. destination (no tax or license yet) - Honda of Redwood City and Anderson Honda. I am waiting for a quote from Honda El Cerrito.

Would you mind sharing who the other dealers were who came in at $24k for you? Would like to know which dealers are the most motivated to sell right now!

    Thanks!

Purchased our warranty from www.berbnardiwarranty.com They're a Honda dealer on the east cost. They blow away everwhere else I got quotes from. Got exact same warranty as what my dealer offered, but for HALF the price!

Any one has an idea about 08 EXL price in NJ/NY. I need to buy one this week or next week. I need a help from everyone.

    Thanks!!!!!
  • derricksonderrickson Member Posts: 131
Congrats newcar4me3! $33.8K is a GREAT price for the Touring! Well done. I found it a challenge just getting my dealers down to $34K, let alone BELOW it. Heck, we had one dealer thinking he was making us the deal of a lifetime on an EXL RES/NAV for $33K, and thats close to what you got the Touring for! I don't think you left a whole lot on the table, especially since the other dealers balked at the number, or had color limitations, etc.

I found that once I had dealers pitching out numbers below around $34.3 for the Touring, I started feeling like I was trying to get blood from a turnip. They were still dealing, but only coming down in $20-$30 increments. The clincher for us was the dealer who was in the hunt AND offered us $2K more than Carmax for our trade.
  • yahoormyahoorm Member Posts: 2
Here you go (now these quotes are for the plain EX not an EXL that you are looking for)

    Walnut Creek-->$25,126.53
    Oakland-->$24,747.00
    Marin-->$23,999.00
    Berkely-->$24,000.00

Honda of Concord would match $24000 if i was Concord resident.

    Hope this helps.
  • newcar4me3newcar4me3 Member Posts: 10
as it turned out, they would only do $500 for my car but carmax would do 1700 for it, so guess what I decided to do?! :)

Here's my quote on an EXL RES:

Out the door at $31,032.01 with wheel locks, mud guards, all season floor mats, cargo mat & extra headset.

They won't give me 2.9%...the best I've been able to find is 5.75%

    Is this a good deal?

    Hi

We are looking to get a touring in the Detroit area and we had asked for a quote with running boards. Two dealers are telling us they are not available on the 2008 ... 4 or 5 are saying they are . We have narrowed down to two dealers one saying you can and the other saying you can't - obviously we will go with best price for the same car but curious.

Is anyone else hearing that running boards aren't an option for 2008?
Any thoughts on running boards, we think it will help the kids get in the car ... but have people been happy with them?
  • leecurrieleecurrie Member Posts: 15
I picked it up last night

    MSRP: $29,595
    Invoice: $26,864

    Selling Price: $23,960
Tax, Title, $50 Doc Fee: $2,021
    OTD: $25,981

I bought it from a new Twin Cities Dealer: Inver Grove Honda.

I e-mailed all six local dealers from the website. Three responded with identical quotes of $24,264. The other three were somewhat higher.

After going back and forth over e-mail I had two at $23,960 and I chose Inver Grove because they were closer to me. Might have been able to get a bit lower, but I don't think much lower.

    Easy pickup and purchase.
  • twinmamatwinmama Member Posts: 6
Yes, for the SF Bay Area, that is an excellent deal! Which dealership offered you that? Take it! You could always finance after you buy, which is what I'll probably do (not through the dealership - pay cash, then get a loan after the fact).
  • gosox1gosox1 Member Posts: 17
In Mass, for an 08 Touring w/o PAX, it's looking like 33,400 incl freight is lowest from a couple of dealers. OTD will probably be $35,600, incl 5% sales tax. Assuming they don't switch and bait me on color, etc..

Thanks for the great info on this thread.
  • coywire27coywire27 Member Posts: 6
Sorry, that's actually 36,000.00 OTD - again great experience!

Any advice here? I'm reading through these posts and seeing some deals that start to make me feel bad about what I'm finding...

lowest I've been quoted is $32,800---EXL w/NAV&RES (INCLUDES 2.9% financing)

Is that a good quote? Given the TMV price listed here, sounds reasonable? How do you bring 'em down from there?

    Thanks!
  • rwhkjhrwhkjh Member Posts: 8
We're in Michigan. I actually got the quote from another dealer, took it to our local dealer and they matched it. We were able to get 4.69% financing through Honda. We pick it up later today!!
  • rwhkjhrwhkjh Member Posts: 8
I started out by collecting quotes via the internet. The lowest quotes that I received on the EXL-RES & NAV were $30,551 + TTL (these both came out of Ohio). A dealer closer to home came in with a quote we felt was fair...took the quote to our local dealer and they matched it. If we wanted the 2.9%, they would add $1,000 to the purchase price. We ended up with 4.69% through Honda.
  • notsosmart1notsosmart1 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the input. Maybe I'll solicit some quotes from other areas.

Just seems odd that folks could get 3k or more under invoice with dealers incentives well below that. Maybe I need to play hardball a bit more. I've been negotiated directly over the internet? In person work better for some? I wouldn't guess so, but maybe?
  • derricksonderrickson Member Posts: 131
I concur with rwhkjh. we did the same thing for a EXL RES/NAV via the honda.com online quote request. typed in zip code and it listed a dozen or so dealers in the area. requested a quote from all of them. I added a message that mentioned I was ready to buy, was aware of the $2K dealer incentive, and what my lowest price to-date was. we paid cash, so the incentive is different if you finance ($1K).

The 'decent' quotes we received ranged from $30,000 to $30,600. Once you have a good quote, you can take that to (or call) a local dealer & ask to match or beat.

I would advise getting the numbers agreed to BEFORE driving to any dealership. Otherwise, you end up like all the other naive buyers, sitting around for hours while the salesperson "checks with the manager".
  • delta737hdelta737h Member Posts: 626
Holy moly Andy!!!! At $33.8k, that's well below holdback! Awesome! How did you do that? Tourings must not be moving very well given the escalating gas prices.

    Enjoy it!

    John
  • shijmusshijmus Member Posts: 3
I havn't bought it, but I keep receiving lower price quotes.
the lastest one is $25879 for car and $27843 OTD price.
I emailed this price to another dealer and he said he can beat the price and will email me later.
I'm not in a hurry to buy it now, I need it in the middle of July. And now it's getting near to the Independence day, does anyone recall any deals that were offered on the Independence day sale before? I mean whether the price on the sale is much cheaper than the price they would offer in the month such as April or May.
  • hondaacehondaace Member Posts: 4
Here is an up to date comparison. We just purchased our EXL with RES/NAV today 4/25 in North Carolina. Here is the exact breakdown. We started with Internet quotes and took the best offer as a starting point:

Sales Price - $29,870 (includes destination - Basically about $600 lower than other local dealers)
Dealer Doc Fee - $299 (couldn't get rid of this)
    Tag Transfer - $70
    3% NC Sales Tax - $843
    Total OTD - $31,082

    We got 4.39% 60/month financing....

We decided to purchase Honda Care and got the 8 yr/120k for $1,295. not a horrible price and mixed emotions, but peace of mind as we plan to keep the van for the long hall.

    good luck.......

    Guys,
I am in Atlanta, GA. Just got a quote for 2008 Odyssey EX-L for 28500 out of door (including tax and fees), my tax rate is 7%. Is this a good deal? Thanks.
  • notsosmart1notsosmart1 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for those replies. Impatience got the better of me, and I was wasting WAY too much time this week at work researching, thinking and planning. I decided to go to the dealer I was most impressed with, the salesman I most trusted, and get the edmunds TMV price ($32,600) and 2.9% financing.

Anyway, I feel like I got a plenty good deal, $1k under invoice and 2.9% financing. I guess I could try and get more money out of it, but I really liked the folks over at the dealer I was working with and I don't have the time nor patience to haggle over a few hundred bucks here or there (or even a few thousand). Got the exact color and everything else we were wanting.

Plus they gave me a bit more than I was hoping for my old trade-in. Hooray!

Now....time to start planning a road trip!!!
