Any advice?
My previous car was totaled yesterday by a poor driver in a RAV4. We were planning to wait until July - this just got more urgent.
I just got a quote for $29,854 (plus $150 doc which is standard for this area, t/t/l) for the EX-L w/ RES & NAV in the Chgo area. All my quotes were w/i $600 of this price. Debating between this and the Touring (lowest quote of $33,644) but can't decide if the Touring is worth nearly $4K more. If I go with the EX-L w/ RES/NAVI, my goal was to get it for for $30K or less, but this seemed way too easy.
EX is for PA registration.
This price was actually given to me by Apple Honda in York, but it was price matched by Norris Honda in Dundalk. Talk to "HONDA" Harry Ngyuen at Apple Honda. He gave me a price of 31,100 OTD w/ 2.9% and 29,900 OTD w/ 4.9%. The extra money for me out the door was mud guards,wheel locks, and door edge guards. Apple said his prices included wheel locks. GOOD LUCK! I
Many thanks!
Any info is appreciated.
For NJ registration it was $23,248 OTD for LX.
4years Registration fee in nj is $354 , tag fee is $7.5, doc is $175
21312x1.07 = 22804
22804+354+7.5+175 = 23340
should be $23340, right?
Thanks,
$ 1640 - tax
$ 130 - Tax + tags

I went to 3 dealers and COULD NOT get one to agree to $27,000. Si I settled for the lowest, $27,380; I hope that was a decent deal.

Got what looks to be great deal from VIP Honda, North Plainfield, NJ from MC (great guy! - really knows cars)
30803 price w/ the 2.9% Financing, would be $1000 less Cash price.
1195 for 120k/8 yr warranty (thanks again to a post)
31998 total, went out the door with
635 destination
2284.31 nj sales tax
7.50 nj tire fee
366.00 reg/title
299.00 doc fee
35589.81 out the door
but the most amazing thing was the sales process; simply got the car, let us take a pair of test drives, came back in, would not budge from the above price, and we did the deal - could have taken less than an hour if we wanted to. The F&I guy didn't even try to sell us an alarm system, and only blinked once when I asked him to reduce the warranty to what I ended up paying. No visits to the manager, no searching the lot for the car (they keep all their Odyssey's together).
Perhaps they wanted to get me out the door quickly on April 30th, but it was great. Got in after 7pm, and was driving home before 10pm.
This is way different than what I went through a few days before at Planet Honda, who took me through the lot for an hour looking for a car that I'm sure they knew was not there. Then, after finding it "coming in" took a deposit for about the same price, but then on the sheet conveniently forget to figure in the destination charge, or that the price was good with the 2.9%, and added back in the $200 etching. And of course, put in the car would sell "as equipped" I saw many $895 bluetooth add-ins on a lot of EX-L's on their lot.

Even though the cash-to-dealer incentive has NOT changed from last month (April), a local dealer here in Florida is now willing to go nearly $1000 lower on his best price after weeks of hounding me (see my previous post above for details). So perhaps the holdback has increased.
Is it at all possible to talk them into offering the cash rebate AND special financing? I figure I tell them if they give me both I'm signing immediately (after agreeing on price).
Thanks.
I've been reading this thread for awhile, and appears the consensus on both the rebate and financing is that the rebate decreases to $1K with their promo financing rates, and $2K w/o. Have not heard or read of anyone getting both.
Regarding your Costco quote, I feel $300 over invoice is terrible. I don't have my RES/NAV info any longer (we ended up w/ a Touring), but when we were pricing RES/NAV models we were getting very close to $30K + TTL. $30,187 to be exact! A decent rule-of-thumb formula is (Invoice less 2-3% msrp less incentives). That turns out to be roughly $3000 BELOW invoice!!!
Additionally, I recommend asking for dealer quotes via the Honda website. Search the thread for "donkeypunch" and you can read the details. Hope this info helps.

How do they handle trade ins? This guy wants me to come in tomorrow but I haven't even had time to shop my car. I wanted to try webuycars.org and carmax. I don't want to rush it and have to trade my car in tomorrow on the spot. In MD the law was changed to levy sales tax on the net after trade in now, not the gross. So I'd have to weigh the difference between selling it outright to someone else vs. what I would get in trade @ 6% sales tax.
Regarding trade, we took ours to carmax and had that number in our back pocket. if the dealer low-balled us, we were prepared to either sell it ourselves or to carmax. our dealer happened to beat carmax by $2K, so we did the deal. but if you are getting a good deal on the Ody, they will likely try to lowball you on the trade. Obviously we did not get a good deal! :P
