Is the co-op advertising fee the reason that we never see actual prices for Hondas advertised either in the paper or on TV in the T.C. area? All we ever see around here are special monthly lease rates, MSRPs or special APRs, but never a simple sale price. It certainly appears to completely eliminate any competition in the media. Is the co-op fee common in other metro areas?
Also, you talk about the $200 co-op advertising fee as though it is a significant disadvantage to be a dealer in the T.C. I would assume that all dealers spend some amount per car on average for advertising. Doesn't that co-op fee significantly reduce or eliminate the amount that TC dealers are spending on their own to advertise?
Sounds great! Nice job. Would you tell me the trade-in year, # of miles, and how much they gave you for the Accord. I hope to have similar results as you. Thanks!
Just purchased an EX-L from Milwaukee area dealer who agreed to match my lowest quote from a Chicago dealer for $26,446 which includes destination and $150 doc fee (add TTL for OTD price).
Is this a cash price or did you get the Honda special financing of 0.9% or 2.9%?
Thanks to everyone contributing to this site. Made me much more confident that I was receiving a good price on my van.
$27,936.00 (incl. dest. of $635) $$1,369.42 (TTT + fees (incl. 3.12 VA sales tax)) ---------------- $29,305.42 (OTD)
Took full Mnfctr to Dealer rebate - no dealer finance. Check out cars.com website for useful "cash back vs. low interest" calculator. There's a similar calculator on Edmunds under Finance.
Had offer of $27,750 + TTT + fees ($29,080.90 OTD) from Hendrick Honda in DC area for anyone up there. Thanks to those mentioning this dealership as their interent quote was easy to acquire and formed basis of deal in Richmond. Bought at West Broad Honda - good group of people.
In the market for a new EX-L with NAV and RES. Which dealer has the best OTD prices with ACH fianancing in California. I noticed the So.Calif dealers have better pricing. Plz let me know if anyone got one of these vans for below $32k.Thx
Advertising or not it is their own business, also part of their overhead. Why they invent such a name to charge to buyer? Later on they might charge dealer fresh air $100 each person entering their facility... lol.
I was offered 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L (new) for $26,000 from a dealer. I am planning to trade in my 2004 nissan murano. In Kbb.com, Trade in value for murano comes around $15,000. My question, is this a good deal? for 2007 odyssey? How low I can bargin? They have just few cars left, so they want to sell all old cars. Any nformation will help. Thanks
I was offered 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L (new) for $26,000 from a dealer in Northern Jersey. I am planning to trade in my 2004 nissan murano(gr8 condition w/ 38500 miles). In Kbb.com, Trade in value for murano comes around $15,000. My question, is this a good deal? for 2007 odyssey? How low I can bargin? They have just few cars left, so they want to sell all old cars. Any information will help. Thanks
Yes, that is a good deal. I have gotten similar quotes and several dealers have refused to go that low - suggesting "if you can get that price, take it... it's a great deal."
pps - I think the destination fee is bundled into the MSRP. Not negotiable is my guess. Same with the acq and doc fee which should be around $640 total. (595+45). For a lease, this is...
I bought a 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L on Saturday, July 26 from Hendricks Honda in Woodbridge, VA.
The price I paid was $25,900, which included the destination and dealer prep. They include pinstriping, wheel locks, and mud guards with their vehicles.
I was quite pleased with the deal. The price I was quoted was the price I was given when I arrived. The whole transaction took less than two hours. Everyone was pleasant to deal with there.
They had an abundance of colors from which to choose--I chose a lighter blue color. They have many colors, but seem to have the most in black if you like that color.
I would recommend this dealership. My wife and I drove 450 miles in one day, but it was worth it for the amount we saved.
Hi michaeljh - I have been planning to go buy from the same dealership. Can you please give a breakdown of the price (i.e all discounts). Also if you can provide the name of the salesperson/manager. Additionally, any idea on how many 2008 EX-Ls does this dealership have? Regards rxm2
I paid for the EX-L with a home equity loan, so I didn't need a loan. From reading many posts on this site in the last few months, I have seen that if you finance through Honda, and use the 0.9% rate or the 2.9% rate (for a longer term), it add a certain amount to the price.
You should send a price quote today to ask what they can do with the EX-L with RES at 0.9% financing. Believe me, they were really stressing the good finance rates. Since the deals they give are so good, I think they are trying to earn extra incentive money from Honda for financing.
They are offering $500 extra off until the end of the day on Monday, but their prices are a bit higher than Hendrick. Between the two of them, you can get a good deal. I highly recommend both places. What they tell you is what they do.
$25,501 (Includes Destination and extras like mud flaps, pinstriping, and wheel locks) $399 Dealer Prep
$25,900 Total
$150 Registration (I had to get a new plate)
That was it.
Just fill out one of the quick quote forms from their site. They're open on Sunday. They will respond quickly. If they don't respond, then just call and ask for Internet sales. They said they sell half of their vehicles through the Internet.
The colors they had when I talked to them on Friday:
Mocha Cherry Green Silver
I'm not sure if they have more of the light blue color. They have a good selection of EX-Ls, though.
If you get the financing rate through Honda it raises the price slightly. I didn't have a trade, so that also made the transaction easier as well.
I am impressed with all the information posted here. In the market in the NorthEast for a 2008 Honda EX-L with RES and or NAV.
Best prices I have gotten so far without pushing the envelope at EX-L $26,481 EX-L RES $27,895 EX-L NAV a & RES $29,662
These all seem very good. I also wanted to ask aobut those 'extra' fees dealers have. Title and Tax I have no issue - all the sames. However Document preparation ? One dealer wants $299 for this. It seemed absurd.
I will be pushing all the dealers over the next day or two to beta the above prices and let all know how things work out.
tn072 - Add a thousand dollars to the price if you want the financing. To figure out if it is worth it to get the financing versus the money off use the calculators I reference in my msg. Basically, unless you are going to put down about 1/2 through trade-in value and money down, the higher price with financing is the route to go. I have heard that the new model year Odyssey will arive in early fall - if color is not important to you, you may try waiting until a little closer to the new model year. happy hunting. -mkielm
I called another dealer in the nj area, told him that i need to get the car for 33,000 which includes destination, add tax and tags. His quote "its the end of the month and I did the same deal for someone else this should not be a problem".
Hopefully I can close this deal tomorrow- stay tuned
Promotion til end of July ... the Aug month promotion should be up online by 8/6 or 7
New 2008 EXL MSRP of $32,880 Save Over $7,888 off MSRP Stock#: 51134, 51343, 52196, 52733, 53541, 53688
Buy For $24,988 OR Lease for only $248 * Best have No Trade-in or they give your trade a much lower price than Kelley's to make up profit. * Floor manager will probably double-dip on the dest charge. Reject it since the dest charge already included MSRP (the last amount before the total) * b4 you travel from N Jersey, best is get the OTD price in writting (email). You can chat with internet sales online.
I just spoke to that dealer. They are saying, that price is not OTD. They are asking me to AD TTL to it. Can you give me any specific sales agent you were working with?
You do have to pay for the taxes, title, and license extra. That is correct.
All in all this is a fair deal (at least in my opinion).
I don't know of any place that I have seen that you will get an Odyssey EX-L for $25,900 out the door including TTL.
It says in these posts that you're not allowed to include the name of the salesperson. The first name of the Internet sales person has the first name as the former Yankees slugger who they called Mister October.
Deal is 33000 + 635 dest + 8.375 salses tax comes to 36450 out the door.
Hows this sound?
Trying to trade in 2006 touring with nav and res in mint condition(15,000 mi) They are trying to low ball me on this($21000) edmunds says 26000 for trade in. Can anyone let me know a fair trade in price>
Lemme see if I understand this: You're buying a brand-new Honda Odyssey Touring R&N for $33635.00 which is $7010.00 UNDER MSRP and $3700.00 UNDER invoice, correct?
With such huge discounts on brand-new Odysseys, what do you think would happen to the value of your current Odyssey? Given that people are buying a brand new one for over $7000.00 OFF MSRP?
Better yet, would you buy a 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring with 15000 miles on it for $26000.00? If the answer is no (which I hope it would be) then why would you expect a dealership to buy it for $26000.00?
I just did a quick search for all 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring vans within 250 miles of Minneapolis. The majority are listed at less then $26000.00. There were nine (out of 87) that were priced higher then $26000.00
The internet can sometimes be a double edge sword in setting unattainable expectations.
..that's advertised by the local dealer.. has to be taken with a grain of salt.. They aren't going to pay you more than your trade is really worth, without making it up somewhere else...
Sold my '05 Touring R&N (44K miles) to Carmax ten days ago for $21,000 which was at least a grand more than any new car dealer would give for it. Depending on whether you get a sales tax credit where you live, you might give them a try.
If you have to trade it to Honda, they might go into the 23s but are not likely to hit 24.
I'm in MA and also saw the EX-L for $24,988. I contacted dealer via email and was told $27,657. I wrote back asking about lower price and still waiting. I had a question for you about the financing. I read in a post to add about $1,000 to the price if you get the financing. Is that correct? Also do you have any tips on how to handle a trade that I haven't mentioned to them yet?
Got it from Crown Southpoint, because I didn't like the attitude of the internet sales manager at autopark. Turned out that Crown were no saints either.. I did a second iteration of the Donkey Punch method.. using a different email.. I didn't use the first iteration properly, because I wasn't really aware of this method.. My friend advised me to request for quotes from Honda.com and go from there.. turned out to be my own version of DP. Wasn't satisfied with the second iteration either.. But lost patience and went ahead and got it. The 6800$ discount off MSRP seemed good enough. Got 4.67% financing through Costco CapOne for 60 months.. that's better than the 1000$ more at 2.9%.. or atleast www.carbuyingtips.com/Car_Loan_Calc_CE.xls said it is..
The break down is $27,936.87 for the Odyssey EX-L with DVD, Tax is $838.10, Tag $122, Doc $399.
Chat online with internet sale. There is a button on homepage. Don't recommend a trade-in together with this promotion due to the fact that new car price is so low, trade-in is their only chance to make profit. I am sure they won't offer you top $, will be 3 to 4K less to make up the new car low offer. Might as well try to sell it on autotrader.com, cars.com, cardirect.com when you get a firm offer then get this deal later.
I just spoke to the int sales mngr and he said the $24988 included dest. but it was only on certain stock #'s, colors red and silver. I'm going to try another dealer to see if they can match price. I think the lower price is to get you in and then they say its limited stock or they are gone to try to upsell. I also have to figure out my financing and look into what gji wrote: Got 4.67% financing through Costco CapOne for 60 months.. that's better than the 1000$ more at 2.9%.. or atleast www.carbuyingtips.com/Car_Loan_Calc_CE.xls said it is..
Before you talk with COSTCO/Cap. One, you might try to squeeze your honda finance guy. After being told on Sat. that 6.0 was the best Honda could due (I took the $2500 as well), I came back Wed. with a Cap. One check with rate of 4.35 (shorter term). At that point the honda finance guy told me he could do 4.3! Nuts to him, but this info might help you bargain with your finance guy for similar rate.

IMHO - the co-op advertising is pure B.S.

i think this is a good deal what do you guys think?
Be careful as they will go an extra mile to make money off you.
Good luck!!!

Can i negotiate the destination charge?
Does this sound like a great price? I was thinking about waiting until sept
Please advise.
Thank you

I agree about what others are saying about the trade in issues. I might look into selling it thru CarMax - that's my only thought there.
