I DID end up getting a 2001 Chevy Silverado last night! Sweet truck, will tell you all about it when I have some time to sit down and type!
Take care,
Jim
Wow he wont be posting for awhile haha
Do I care what anyone else drives, no.
Should it matter, no.
Should you care what I drive, no.
Get my point?? no. (I'm guessing here)
I've had no rattles, shakes, vibrations, squeaks, aftershocks, steering clunks, engine knocking, grinding transmission, nor wind noise. I've had no recalls on it, and it's never been the shop for anything. I've had nothing break on it (accept for the rock that hit my gold Chevy bow tie on the grill, replaced it for $12). It is an absolute dream to drive.
Although I wish it had stronger factory fog lights, and a factory sliding rear window, I'd buy it again in a second without hesitation.

Wow might have to replace it
Ryan
Immediately went down to the dealer and bought a new gold bow tie for the grill for $12.
Got home and it took me about 20 minutes to change it out. You have to open up the hood, remove the large flat black cover that covers the entrance to the area infront of the radiator and behind the grill. Locate the plastic clips on the bow tie that hold it to the grill and press them in to release it from the truck. This part required a bit of hunting, a flashlight, and a small mirror.
Looks new again!!!

So far its a great truck! Although I only have 250 miles on it!
Drivers side and passenger side (under hood) parts of it are coming off. Guess I gotta head back to the dealer to fix this huh? Also on the bottom of the drivers side extra cab door. Seems a little loose there as well. Other than that, that is all I can find so far.. I will keep you all posted.
Question for the rest of you Rado owners. Did your trucks come with small cheesy kinda plastic floor mats? I would have thought better ones should be in the truck....
Anyone know who makes (or where I can purchase) the hard fiberglass tonneau cover? You know the one that you can get painted the same color of your truck?
Ryan you mentionted huskyliners... Is there anything else out there that is worth looking into for floor mats???
Thanks,
Jim
I think however huskys are the best all around. They hold mud dirt sand water snow. Mine are filthy just take a wet rag and they look brand new again
sounds like a nice truck
Jim
Thanks again,
Jim
How does the Z71 ride in the city and are the wheel flares black or body-colored? Enjoy the new ride!!
Ryan
The Z71 is not too bad in the city. Its not a jaguar (hehehe)but its much better than the Ford F-150 with there 4x4 package.
My wheel flares are body colored and look pretty nice! Thanks for the nice comments...
Ryan - I hear ya on the whale tail. I like it as well and would not want to remove it. I will have to look around my area for 4x4 shops carrying leer products.
Thanks for the heads up!
Jim
hard tonneau cover and had to take off
his whaletail....It left 4 (?) big holes
in his tailgate . Where the screws used to be
It don't look pretty ..but he don't care...
Jim

www.google.com is a cool engine...
I have not heard anything about 6k under MSRP for the 01 Rado's. Right now its $1000 cash back or low APR... at least that was the deal for me. I took the cash back cause it was cheaper for me in the long run...
Keep looking you still may find some good deals. Your best bet is to find something you like on the lot, (which is what I did).
Otherwise... order yourself an 02!
Jim
Jim
Invoice means different things to different dealers.
Factory incentives bring the MSRP down when in effect, and as you mentioned go up at mid-year.
I also agree that invoice is interpreted differently as factory to dealer (not customer) and holdback can and does affect invoice.
No matter, it's all a game and you have to constantly monitor during the shopping/purchasing process to make sure you get a good deal and that the dealer also makes his/her profit.
I chose this dealership because my daughter had recently bought an Accord from a dealership down the street. She went there because the finance manager was her boss' cousin. She got a very good deal on the Accord.
While I was signing the pape3rs as a co-signer for her, I mentioned that I was in the market for a Sierra. The finince manager said that the GMC dealership down the street was owned by the same company that owned the Honda dealership (Auto Nation). He got me the name of the sales manager.
Having found on-line the truck I was interested in, I wrote down the VIN and drove over to the dealership. Sales guy came at me and I asked for the Sales Manager by name. He took me inside and iintroduced myself to the SM. He said, "Yea, Sam called me. Harold (salesman), see if hecan find one he likes, and bring the paperwork to me."
Harold asks me what I'm looking for and I give him the paper with the VIN on it. He looks it up in his system, grabs the keys, and off we go. Test drive goes OK, so he parks me in his office to go get a price. Sticker was $29,900 and I had estimated the invoice at $24,300. He came back with a price of $24,900 and the deal was done.
A totally painless experience.

BTW, is your Sierra an SLT? How do you like it?
1949 - Yes, it is a Fire Red (when I bought my first truck in 1987 - Mazda B2200 - I asked my then 11 and 9 year old daughters what color I should get. They said red, and now I am not allowed to buy any other color.) Xcab SLT 5.3/auto/3.73 locker w/ cloth manual buckets. 17k miles and I love it. Absolutely no problems.
Peter
Glad you're enjoying that GMC...they're really sharp looking. I visited the GMC website and rec'd two letters the following week with brochures, inviting me to take a test-drive.
I think your choice of 5.3/3.73 is the perfect combination for this size truck. Enjoy!
