Filled in Sikeston MO this morning for $3.19 a gallon. They let me use my Costco card that pays back 3%. Indiana, KY and most of the stations before that were over $3.70. Diesel still staying about $3.89 most stations.
I filled today at Costco in Tucson $2.99 per gallon. Lowest price of the trip. Best mileage was straight cruise set at 75 MPH. The only slowdown was going through Las Cruces. That was from Alamogordo to Tucson. Total miles on the leg 349. Calculated out to 19.81 MPG. Using USA gasoline from Alamogordo. Temp was about 70 degrees. When it got in the 90s driving 75 MPH the mileage dropped back in the 16s.
We drove through Las Cruces on US70 during 8AM rush hour. Lots of road construction going on. Single lane and 3 light cycle waits. I hate big cities and little cities that have traffic problems. Google routed us all the way through on 70 to the I 10. Still averaged 62 MPH from Alamogordo to Tucson Costco 349 miles. Thankfully most big cities like Tucson have Freeway bypasses. Drove 588 miles and spent the night at the Hampton in Yuma. ARCO gas $3,25 cash price. No CCs accepted. The other stations near the FWY were $3.49.
Tucson has the best thrift stores but don't know if Hawaiian shirts are popular there.
Didn't ARCO start taking credit cards in California a decade ago? I rarely used them on the road since I used to not carry much cash (but that'll change again since even the diners here started taking cards a few months ago).
Filled up for $3.75 today. We'll be heading out about the time you get home.
ARCO in CA does not or has never taken CCs that I know of. They will take a Debit card with a small charge. The ARCO in Yuma took CCs last time I was through there. Not any more. Every other station along the way took AMEX which gives 3% on gas from non warehouse stations. No Sams or Safeway.
We spent $1077 on gas for the 5400 mile trip. Cheapest airfare for both of us was $1300 plus. Add a rental car and you can see even with a gas guzzling SUV it is cheaper to drive than fly.
Boy, after we left the Toledo, gas went back up to the $3.85 range. Found some a couple of hours ago in W. VA for $3.69 and there's some for $3.49 in Keiser W. VA.
Don't know the Washington area - haven't been on that stretch of I-75 south of Flint.
Just checked out local Chevron. Diesel is $3.79 and RUG is $3.99. Premium $4.19. I remember when I had the Passat TDI, it was fun having diesel selling for less than RUG. Knowing that RUG had to be at 30% more than diesel before it was a breakeven situation. You are getting to feel what all diesel owners feel when the prices swap places about this time of year.
Tuesday morning I filled up at $3.35. When I passed the same station 6 hours later, the price had bumped to $3.49. Wednesday morning it was down to $3.45. All this while it has been hanging at $3.39 at another station.
Wasn't paying much attention to deals today so just got some regular for $3.86 as we were cruising around (got to see the cadets parade at West Point and went to FDR's house). Filled up at Cold Spring NY.
How did you get ahead of CA? Our Costco is down to $3.73. Most stations in San Diego are selling diesel for $3.79. I hope that does not run the price up on the GLK bluetec I am looking at.
There is an 80 year old guy here that drives a blinged out Buick. He stops every day and gets $2 worth of gas at the Shell station. His brother says he don't want to die with a full tank of gas.

Ain't supply and demand wonderful? :shades:
$3.76 to $3.89 seems to be the norm for unleaded in NY around Sleepy Hollow.

I love a good mystery!
Locally it's $3.99 for regular.
summer driving seasonmaintenance. That $3.99 may be way outdated - I think I just heard the radio say it popped to $4.19. Have to bike down in a bit and see.
I'm feeling pretty flush - both cars are more than half full. :shades:
Diesel is $4.05 (it's been a while since I've checked on it, so I don't know if it's been trending up or down or staying flat).
Couldn't check Premium - they were out.
It's ethanol free stuff and the station is close to a marina, so I think there's a bit of supply and demand at work. :shades:

Taking a few hundred mile drive this coming weekend, should be able to at least hit 40mpg again.
Making me dizzy!
