Edmunds no longer lists any marketing support for Odysseys. Have the prices people are getting gone up by the $1250 the marketing support was? Or is it available but not posted?

One of dealer quoted for 31000 (out the door) but mentioned that he is not going to do any add ons. I am not sure what add-ons I am going to miss. And also the dealer is out of state for me ie SC which means I have to pay tax (3%) in NC and need to take care of DMV stuff. If I add TTL, then it comes 32000. Just for the sake of 300 dollar difference I do not want to run around DMV and also I need to go to this dealer in case if something happens to the car for whatever reason. (I know I can go to any dealer. But it is comfortable to go the dealer where you bought the car. Is not it?)

I read forums but did not get the best price paid for this car. Looks like I paid 1000-1500 dollars more than what other paid. Fine. Just for curiousity I mentioned about good deal or not.

Not sure what I miss on add-ons. It is fine if it is just wheel locks.

I am trying to understand as some dealer told me it could be 10 to 15 days wait. Does anyone see/faced problems in waiting for your choice of color Car after you sign everything at dealer. Also in case of financing I am guessing all counting is done on the car delivery date.
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
I don't see dealer extras as a positive thing.........but if you want pinstripes, wheel locks, mudflaps, rustproofing, etc, then that is what the dealer is talking about. Just be aware that you pay for these! I think the Honda price for wheel locks is $50-75, my guess is you can buy them at Autozone for 10 bucks. Then again, I DON'T want all that dealer installed junk, but that's just me. Just give me the car they way that Honda builds it.......and from what I've read, wheel locks are about as effective as "The Club"......(remember those????)

Its not like there is a secret "dealer upgrades" service where the dealer turbocharges the car, makes it drive more smoothly, and turns on the switch to make the car problem-free, but only if you ask him to do so......

Thanks for your help! I have a OTD price of 34300 with a "protection package" which are the wheel locks, mudguards, cargo tray. Can I get these taken off for cheaper? Anything I should be aware of when I get there if I buy?

I was quoted a price of $29,900 for a 2010 EX with RES. With the 6% Tax and two hundred in fees it worked out to be about $31,900. Doesn't seem that great though in comparison to the prices I'm seeing here. What price should I be shooting for pre-tax and fees?
  • andagaandaga Member Posts: 23
i think base is about 32,826, tax is just cheaper here.

Hi Shri99. Which dealer have your purchased you vehicle from in NJ ? Can I use your reference to get the same deal and you might be eligible for a referal.
  • andagaandaga Member Posts: 23
I was looking back through the thread and the prices last year even in April were so much less. Is this because of inflation or recession?
  • aks112aks112 Member Posts: 3
There was $2500 marketing support back then. The economy caused slumping car sales and Honda was trying to get rid of its overproduction.

Me and my wife trying to decide if it worth paying extra for Odyssey Touring or just go with EX-L. I live in Chicago area, what price should i expect here. Thanks for any help :)

shumin1 I went to two dealers yesterday and I have decided upon an EX w/res but doing some research on prices today. I got info from Consumer reports and one dealer told me they still have the 1250 dealer incentive. We are in Oviedo - where are you?
  • shumin1shumin1 Member Posts: 14
I am at gainesville. you can email me scheung2010@hotmail.com
Your EX w RES has leather or not? if you dont need financing from Honda, then 1250 incentive can be applied.
  • rbrummrbrumm Member Posts: 8
Hard to follow this forum...Not sure where we stand in the grand scheme of things we ended up paying $32,416 (dealer invoice w/ detination charges). We added fog lights and remote start on top, plus TTL. Not sure how well we did but thought we did OK here in Northern IA.
  • shumin1shumin1 Member Posts: 14
Hi, rbrumm, can you break your OTD down? Do you get 1250 incentive or get financing with them?

I am getting EXL w RES offer at 32600 plus Tag fee, no financing.
  • rbrummrbrumm Member Posts: 8
We did not take the $1250, the 2.9% for 60 was a better deal for us. The $32416 was dealer invoice including the destination charge. They did get a different van from another lot to suite us plus deleivered it to our house ~ 1hr away at no charge so I assume there is good money below invoice still. We added Fog lights for $510 installed and and aftermarket remote start for $350 which runs the exact same controls as the factory remote.

    $33281 w/fog and remote start
    $1664 tax
    $416 tags

    $35361

Probably not best deal but not bad either.

I am considering EX or EX-L. Among differences between two, I am wondering whether VCM in EX-L is worth to try. I have seen many complaints of vibration issues related to VCM in older model. I am not sure whether this issue has been addressed or not. I want to buy it ASAP. So, please, give me your advice. Thanks in advance.

Finally, They offer me $33,000 OTD ($30,900) for EX-L with RES. I'm in OH. I'd like to know what you guys think..
  • petes999petes999 Member Posts: 5
I have a OH quote on the table for $30,770 on EX-L from just an e-quote ... not even asking them to go lower. So 30,900 isn't too bad. Yet, remember that to go this low or lower, the 1,250 dealer cash is in leu of a lower APR. Dealer said 1,250 cash is good until end of March (at least).

Can I ask a group question ... what are people thinking about holding off a purchase for a 2011 Honda vs. doing the deal now for 2010 Honda? I need something this year, just a matter of now or waiting.

    Pros 2010
    - Can get $5,000 off MSRP vs. maybe $1,000 off come this fall on 2011 (due to being new)
    - Taller cabin as next year's model is about 1-1/2 inches shorter (sounds like)

    Pros 2011
    - 2 inches wider and full middle seat with anchors for car seat (good as I have 8 month old twins and 4 year old) - so I can put twins together and 4 year old by door (to drop off at school)
    - 2 mpg better

    2011 Cons
    - 2 inches they added to width won't give you a full middle seat, so they got to take from the other side seats (con as kids grow bigger)

What else can we expect for 2011 model (haven't seen that much even in the other Honda forums). Is there any issues with the current model (ride, comfort, layout) that they should address? Any hints from Pilot on what may be coming?

I'm in South Florida, looking to buy either an LX or an EX. I used AAA no-haggle service to get three quotes from dealers on the LX. The quotes came in at $23,525 (Holman) and $23,825 (the two Maroone delaerships, part of Auto Nation). The prices include destination fees.

I thought the prices were pretty good but when I called Holman they told me there was a dealer fee of $549 which they described as their "profit." The OTD came out at $25,777 with sales tax and other government-related fees (tag transfer, etc.). Maroone told me their dealer fee was $599 and included all the prep work they had to do in order to sell the car (i.e., put air in the tires). Is this normal? Are these good prices? Thanks.

I'm in Southern California and just purchased EX-L with RES & NAV from Buena Park Honda. Thanks to everyone on this post! My first offer was through another dealer before researching and seemed good at $500 below dealer invoice. After reading this post I contacted several dealers and Buena Park gave the best deal over the phone. No shady deals once I got there, everything was as stated on our phone call. Make sure to call around, I called at least 7 dealers and the range was from $34,500 (I told them I'd buy in cash that day and they wouldn't budge) to $32,490! Probably could have got another $100-250 off if I pushed, but was in a hurry and happy with the deal. Was in and out of the dealer in 90 minutes.

    MSRP was $37,205 plus $710 destination = $37,915 Total

I paid $ 32,490 destination fee included, no financing (took the $1,250 incentive), TT&L was extra.

Thanks again to everyone as this post saved me at least $1,500.

After looking on all the forums, and at most of the available minivans, we've decided on the Honda Odyssey, and the Touring because we want everything including the nav, ent.sys., fog lights.

I checked this forum, amex pricing, and consumer reports, and I'm thinking somewhere between 35,000 and 36,000 is pretty good.

I have one quote for 35,900, plus a $200 doc fee, and $125 to do the insurance/plates thing. not counting the MA state sales tax (which I don't recall offhand)

What's your take on this price? I understand that I should shop around, and get other quotes and haggle, but life is full right now, and I'm hoping this forum will reassure me that I'm within a hundred or two of best possible price for this car in this area (North eastern Mass.) but I don't want to lose much more than that to not bothering to make a few calls.

    Hoping to close this week.
    Thanks in advance.

How much tax in OH? I have a similar offer 33,000 for OTD, tax is 6%. Can you break down your offer?
  • andagaandaga Member Posts: 23
:confuse: I need help. I have gotten lots of great advice from this site and now I am having cold feet. Here is the situation. I am looking at the Ody ex-l with nav and res and have negotiated like a pro (thanks to you) for about 32,400 base + TTL for an OTD of 33,900. I drive about 120 miles round trip per day with my kids. Is it worth it to get a new car or should I just get an old Odyssey with some miles on it already or the new '11 with better gas mileage?
  • subienjettiesubienjettie Member Posts: 4
Now they're going down more and more. EX-L with RES for $32,800 OTD ($30,520+250+48.50+1,981(6.5%tax))
  • ajseagles3ajseagles3 Member Posts: 6
I got one quote for $31,385+++ and another for $30,889+++ here in NC.

+++ is doc fee/registration/3% sales tax

I am not going to buy unless it's a killer deal. I was looking for $30,300. Will wait for 2011.
  • ajseagles3ajseagles3 Member Posts: 6
Sorry, should have noted... This was indeed for EX-L with RES.

I just put a deposit down for a 2010 Odyssey Touring today in North Carolina. Base price was $35,700 and then we added a number of accessories (trailer hitch, wood trim, all weather floor mats, and cargo tray) for $1,300. However, the kicker was that they had some "mandatory" add-ons they were forcing on me (wheel locks and splash guards) which tacked on $550 (they also tried to make me get the painted pinstripes, but that was out of the question). I knew this was a total rip-off because I had a general idea that MSRP was closer to $220. I pointed this out to them, but they said that they weren't making any money on the car and that they had to make some profit somewhere (at least they were honest). I eventually agreed because the price was still $1,000 less than any other dealership was willing to offer (I called 3 others in the area). They also charged a $400 documentation fee, $55 to transfer the license plate, and 3% sales tax. So all things being equal, I think your $35,900 offer, is better than what I got today when you factor in the $230 markup on the wheel locks and splash guard and the $400 doc fee. However, I can live with paying a little more since I got a good value on the trade-in...I think.
  • rbrummrbrumm Member Posts: 8
Does $31,385 include the $1250 incentive? And does the +++ mean that doc/registration/tax is included in that price or are they on top?
  • andagaandaga Member Posts: 23
    Which dealer?
  • ajseagles3ajseagles3 Member Posts: 6
The $31,385 likely includes their incentive, as it is a "cash" deal. +++ means that all of those things would be on top and are not included.

I just can't imagine getting basically the same van that's been around for years when the 2011 is coming so soon, though.
  • sweetdaysweetday Member Posts: 1
I got an offer of $32,123 OTD with special finance (North Cali), including all taxes and fees. I contacted over 10 dealer shops, all of them offered between 35,000 and 36,000 OTD except this dealer.

I must be happy with this offer, right?
  • mickeyb4mickeyb4 Member Posts: 1
Received an offer from dealership in MD of $31,266 (includes $710 destination charge) + tax+tags, along with the special 2.9% financing. Good deal? I have not been able to get the dealer to move off of this price so far,

All the other quotes in my area of Maryland (Baltimore-DC) seem to be coming in around $31,700-$32,000 with the 2.9% financing and $30,450-$30.990 without the special financing.

Just got an EX for $313/month with $1000 down included 1st month payment, taxes, and tags in NJ.
  • maxchelmaxchel Member Posts: 9
Assuming you would want a relatively low mileage used van, take a look on CarMax's "no haggle" website...the new 2010 you have quoted is actually cheaper. As far as the 2011 model, you'd have to do some research on what that price may look like, then do the math on how long you would have to drive it in order to recoup the gas mileage savings so that you are then on par or better w/ the 2010 net cost to own and operate. The 2010 is a great van...I'm sure the 2011 will be a great van, too. For all practical purposes, in daily use you probably won't notice too much difference in the two. So really it boils down to whether you want a great overall deal right now, or if you want to wait to own at a higher up front cost, and then wait to drive the car for however long after purchase to see the overall mpg "savings".

    Hi Congradulations.
Can you tell if the $313/month payment is inclusive of tax and other etcs.? Also is the $1000 down includes tax, title and doc fee for all the 36 months?
    Thanks

Update my price 2010 Odyssey EX-L/RES for $32,700 out the door.
    30,424+1,977 (OH tax 6.5%)+ 48.50(GOVT fee)+ 250(Doc)= $32,700
My goal is around $32,000 OTD. Let's see what I can get.

    I am looking at a 2010 Honda Odyssey EX-L (msrp $34,115)

The BEST quote so far was: $29,399 + TTL (no haggle involved, just 1st offer)

Most quotes were $29,800 - $30,100 + TTL (no haggle either, just 1st offers)

This was through zag.com - can access through eBay or USAA or Overstock - and is for the 2010 EX-L with RES. I think we're going to go ahead and pull the trigger.

I want to first off thank everyone who participates in this forum, as I have really gained an appreciation for what happens here from the weeks I have read through these posts as an unregistered viewer. The knowledge that I have been able to accumulate through your dialog has turned my clueless approach to an auto purchase into one where I feel I can win at this game!

I have taken the approach as laid out by hogan773 into the quest to purchase an EX in metal metallic w/o Res or Nav. I sent out an email this week to nearly a dozen dealers with regards to a van purchase, and the replies that I have gotten have stunned me. Not that I didn't feel everyone was inaccurate here with regards to their reporting, but my first dealer responses have been very impressive. I have a low "bid" including fog lights, splash guards and door edge guards of $28,169 + tax & tags. I didn't demand a total otd price with this first contact, but will ask for that from each dealer that has replied to me early next week when I start round 2.

Thanks to all who participate here for the valuable tool that you are a part of!! :shades:
