Hogan, any way you can post a link to your sales quote?
  • dev_pdev_p Member Posts: 22
    shrnckr,

By far your EX quote is one the best I have heard recently.
Can you post breakup of price which gives clear picture of the car price.
As previously posted total price varies by region. You can ignore anything below $100
this applies to Anyone who already bought and are posting price.
    #1&2 below are most important.

    For e.g
    1. Base price
    2. Destination (if it is seperate)

    Following not required
    3. Tax,title&reg
    4. Doc
    5. Accessories ( not required if it's toomuch)

This is important to remove any local regional effect and would be usefull to every one
    in the market for odyssey.

    Thx.

Isell, sales professionals shouldn't be allowed to read these posts. These buying strategies are for customers only. BTW -- sent you an email on yahoo.

Just made my purchase Saturday. Got the EX-L with RES and Navi for $31,981.59 before everything. OTD ended up being $34,800 even. I think we did pretty well.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Oh, don't worry. I've heard them all and then some!
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
What do you mean "a link to my sales quote"? I don't understand.... :confuse:
  • ajseaglesajseagles Member Posts: 13
Right. I had a quote for $30,190+++ from a dealer about 50 miles away. It would have been $31,600 OTD. Instead, I got the local dealer down from their "firm" quote of $31,385+++ to under $30,600, with an EXACT OTD price of $32,000.00.

Then, after the cash deal had been negotiated, they said they could still beat my 3.99%/48 month financing, and they did at 3.44%/60 without changing the other terms of the deal.

    In Response to...
    >>Thanks for sharing your purchasing info, Congrats!!
Great deal at 3.44% for 60 months. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, try to understand your e-mail clearly. You used your "regional" quote to settle the price of $30, 590+++ at your local dealer, $400 more than regional, right? how much did you pay for TTL?
I had my pre-approval at 3.99 for 48 months from BOA, not sure if my dealer could get me 3.44% for 60 months.
    Thanks.

Help! I have tried calling and asking for internet quotes from dealers in the honda website for an Odyssey 2010 EX-L with Navi/RES and the lowest quote is 3300---so much higher than everybody! I live in the Philadelphia area. How did you do it?

Bought the odyssey in mid Feb (last month) for the below price. Quote confirmed via email/telephone, transaction was smooth with not much pressure. Dealer is Princeton Honda.

2010 EXL with RES and NAV
    Car sale price: 31350
    + dest 710
    + doc fee 197
    + 7% sales tax
    +TTL
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
" How did you do it?"

    Good question.

At 33,000 they are selling it for below theri incentive by over 300.00.

How much do you expect them to lose.

Must be one tough, miserable marke where you are located?
  • jrabdawgjrabdawg Member Posts: 21
don't use the honda website, go directly to the website of dealers in your area.
  • redskyredsky Member Posts: 4
Hi if I understand right, your drive out price was $28,780, not $26,806 as you mentioned in post #24902? Correct? Thanks a lot!
  • sri1sri1 Member Posts: 23
Based on your previous post I am guessing you might have asked them for EXL/RES also. Do you mind giving your name as reference. It will help in negotiating easy.

    Thanks
  • shrnckrshrnckr Member Posts: 4
    MSRP 29,905.00
    destination 710
    Total 30,615

My original bid was 26,366 and then we added the mud flaps and cargo tray.

Sales tax and liscense are seperate in Missouri . I anticipate for my local community sales tax will be about 1,900
  • derm2derm2 Member Posts: 3
I had pricing on just the plain EX-L, the EX-l with RES and then the EX-L with RES and Navi. My wife and I used those quotes to come up with an Out the door price of $34,800 and 2 dealers said that they could do it. I didn't negotiate the Buy price I negotiated the Out the door price...they fudged the #'s to get us there. I am in Florida by the way. No trade in either.
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
So which model did you get for the OTD price of $34,800?

OTD for me is a murky number. Local and state taxes and fees vary from state and locality to locality. The guy in the next county from me could pay the same for the vehicle and OTD could vary.
  • gpseekgpseek Member Posts: 3
Ask for internet sales manager Chris Wells from Princeton Honda. Tell him Kevin refer you to him. Let me know how it goes with your deal.
  • derm2derm2 Member Posts: 3
We got the EX-L with RES and navigation.
  • snowdaddyosnowdaddyo Member Posts: 53
    $30,500 + TTL for a 2010 EX-L RES
    4% APR Financing

    Should I bite?
  • ajseaglesajseagles Member Posts: 13
Can't really comment on the financing. All depends on how good your credit is and how long the term. That price quote is very good with the current incentives (or lack thereof), as long as it includes destination. You may be able to get down a few hundred more.
  • litesaber5litesaber5 Member Posts: 3
    Newbie!
My wife and I are picking up our 2010 Odyssey tomorrow!
We got the Bali Blue and dark interior.
The base we got it for was 24,749 and out the door with TTL is 27,997.

I’m very pleased with our purchase.

Going through the internet is defiantly the way to go. We had 5 dealers tripping over them-selves to get us this van.

I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey Touring available for 28,000 out of the Door. It has a low milage of 14,700. Is it a good deal?

Did any one buy 2007/2008 Honda Odyssey Touring in the last few months? Can you post your milage and OTD price?

Just bought an EX on Saturday from a dealership in South Florida. I did not have a trade in and financed through Honda at 4.9%

    OTD Price-28,992

I don't have the exact break down in front of me, but it was very close to these numbers.

veh price (inc dest $710 dest) 26,800 (approx)
    sales tax (6%) $1,600
tax $450 (did not have one to transfer, taxes for new tags in Fl are exorbinant)

They did not charge for mud flaps.

All in all I was happy with the deal. I received quotes from 5 dealerships, and then went with the lowest quote after minimal negotiation. All of the quotes that I received were within a few hundred dollars of one another. I'm one of those people who think time is money, therefore, do not want to spend hours upon hours and day after day negotiating. I feel like I got a good deal for the car, considering I paid $1,600 BELOW MSRP after all taxes and fees were added. A good deal on buying a car is subjective. What may be a good deal for one, may not be for someone else. Anyone buying an Odyssey at these or similar prices are getting a deal, as Honda very rarely has such generous incentives on their popular mini-van.
  • redskyredsky Member Posts: 4
Congratulations! What kind of model did you get? Can you breakdown the cost? Thanks!
  • sri1sri1 Member Posts: 23
Thanks Kevin, I spoke to Chris and he said they had more incentives back in Feb. I let him know then I will wait for Apr incentives.
  • snowdaddyosnowdaddyo Member Posts: 53
It did include destination. Funny how the dealer was able to lower the original 4.0% rate for 60 mo to 2.79% when I came back with a 2.84% pre-approval from the same exact loan provider. Dealer said there was a "mix-up" at the bank. Right.
  • litesaber5litesaber5 Member Posts: 3
    Redsky

    Selling price 24,749.00
    Destination charge 710.00
    Doc. fee 155.00
    Sales tax 8% 2,150.00
    New plates 194.00+25.00
    county tax 15.00
    Total 27,997.00

    Hope this help!

I am all set to by 2010 EXL for the following (trading in 2002 Ody EX):

    Selling price 29,300
    Dealer Fee 599
    Less trade 5,500
    OTD 26130.13

This is in Palm Harbor, FL. But now after reading all the forums on brake issues, oil consumption, and torque converter issues I'm getting nervous about the safety of the vehicle. I've replaced many things on the 2002 including tranny and a/c but I've never felt it wasn't safe. Any perspective from 2010 owners?

    Much appreciated.

    Vehicle price: 26,295

    Options:
    Fog lights
    Splash guards
    Door edge guards
    Bumper protectors
    Door visors
    All season floor mats

    Sub Total w/options: 26,944

    Total out the door: 28,636

    Drives like a dream!

Thanks to all for posting prices and all, especially Hogan, for it was his method that I used to cement the deal! :shades:

I have noticed while discussing the price with salespersons and internet managers, the price goes up $1250 from the base price to get the 1.9% or 2.9 % financing. And that number has been consistent. Also, I -emailed several (at least 8) dealers and only2 ever mentioned the rebate. Can they keep this a secret and only blurt it out once financing is discussed because they have to raise the price? So I guess they get the rebate not the buyers!
  • hogan773hogan773 Member Posts: 255
I believe it is a "dealer cash rebate" so in reality they don't have an obligation to tell you. The IDEA is they will use it to cut better deals and sell cars.....but these are dealers we're talking about, not Boy Scouts. If they can steal another nickel from your pocket, you know they will.
  • snowdaddyosnowdaddyo Member Posts: 53
Absolute true. The dealers treat it as an "ace up their sleeve" - but for informed consumers (like those on this forum), you've already peeked at their card. For those with excellent credit scores, you can do even better than Honda's 2.9% financing on your own, which was a surprise to me. BoA offered me 2.84%, and the dealer, embarrassed that they offered 4% originally (through the same bank) lowered theirs to 2.79%!
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
They weren't embarrased -- just sorry you opened up a big can of "Gotcha" in the dealership. ;)

Any thoughts? Pros and cons? I have two kids (5&7) and one coming. I looked at the Town and Country. But, with all its bad rap, I'm seriously reconsidering... I need to tow a 2000 lbs tent trailer too.

    Thx!
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
The dealer may not get the incentive if you take the special financing...at least, that's what one dealer told me.

Here's the bottom line. The incentive right now is $1250. A year ago at this time, it was $2500, and effectively, it was beyond that, because dealers were getting volume discounts that enabled them to go $1000 under invoice. So the same EX-L w/RES now that is going for, say, $30.5-$31k was going for $27.9 last year at this time.

Yes, inventories were higher then, and the car market slower. But this is an expiring model--the last year in a model cycle. Prices should be coming down, not going up. So while I've been dabbling in this because I have a 3-year old Odyssey that has great value on it, I think I'm going to wait and see what the incentive picture looks in April and May. And also see if Toyota gets more aggressive with Sienna pricing. I just sense that this is not a great time to buy.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
You don't want a Town and Country. For certain people in certain situations, they might be fine. My father has an '09, loaded to the gills--he paid next to nothing for it--like $8k off MSRP last year--and it works great for him. He actually uses Stow N Go and hauls around the grandkids.

But...even he will admit--the build quality is terrible. The plastics are cheap. The mechanicals are rather suspect. The powertrains are slow and noisy. The transmission is good--apparently they can do something that Honda can't--and the entertainment system is absolutely the best in the minivan biz--dual DVD's in a row like an airplane, with a great hard drive upfront.

But the vehicle itself--not great quality, lousy reliability ratings, noiser, slower...well, you get the picture.

Frankly, if you are looking at an '08 EX, you might as well buy new. I've been shopping used too, and the prices are pretty appalling. You can literally buy a new version of what I'm looking at for less than a used one, and that's without even a great incentive. Plus you can access better financing on the new vehicle. So if you are really in the market and need to do something, I think you'd be crazy not to go new.

Finally pulled the trigger on a 2010 EX-L (no NAV or DVD) in the Pacific Northwest.

$29,807 including dealer installed splashguards, DMV fees were addtional.

    no financing.

Posting after using the site to get a ballpark on price.
  • alangpalangp Member Posts: 13
I can not agree more. We like to buy a car at the last year of 5-6 year design circle because of cheap price and reliability. But according to recent post on this forum, the price is still too high for the last year.

My target price is (of course, you need to provide your own financing. No double dip here unless you bought last year):
EXL (without RES) 28000, OTD 30000
    EX 24500, OTD 26500
By the way, that's the price my friends get two or three years ago (close to summer time).
I am still having hard time to decide on EXL or EX. Leather seat is nice but I am not the big fan of moon roof and VCM engine (mostly for reliability).
I took a look at new Sienna a few weeks ago. It looks nice with usb ipod input and many other new features but I doubt you will get great deal on this first-year model.
Just wait patiently till summer comes.

Your bottom price for the 2010 EXL (without RES) 28000, OTD 30000 is based on the price your friends got two or three years ago (07/08).
Did you take into account the difference of MSRP between 07/08 and 2010 ? It is about 2-3K.
  • sri1sri1 Member Posts: 23
I am also in the same boat. I am getting quotes EXL w/RES for 30,400 and Sienna LE for $27,250, Sienna EXL base for $30,250 +TTL. I am not finding huge advantage in going for Odyssey. Am I missing something here. I can get custom DVD for $900 dealer installed with warranty. For $750 more you get lot more going with Sienna.
  • 4deals4deals Member Posts: 1
I just bought a 2010 EX last week w/ add on such as window tint, splash guard, wheel lock, and cargo tray. OTD price I paid was 29,200. Do you think that was an ok deal or did I get rip off. By the way I got the vehicle from Houston Texas
  • xballer52xballer52 Member Posts: 2
that was generally what I paid....(just under 29,000) Value is subjective....yes, you could have probably gotten the vehicle for less; however, you have to remember that demand is higher in some regions of the country than others...and what I may be able to buy the vehicle for in South Florida may be different than what someone may be able to buy the vehicle for somewhere else. Look at it like this, you got a vehicle that was priced at 30,615 for $1400 less after all taxes and fees were paid. Some people may have paid less; however, there are plenty of others that paid much more just a few months ago. As long as you like the vehicle and feel comfortable with what you paid, that's all that matters.

Well its too late now. I myself was strongly leaning on the Ody and almost pulled the plug last year. However after doing some research, I found out that that there is a very strong likehood of the following issues

    1. Extraordinary High Oil Consumption
    2. Torque Converter
    3. Occasionally less braking effect than expected (Recall is in place)
    4. Excessive wind noise at speeds above 65mph (A lot of reviews have mentioned this specifically)

The first two will be covered under warranty but that is good only for 3yrs-36K Miles. What after that. It is pathetic that Honda knows and is doing nothing about it. Excessive Wind noise is definitely there. I travelled in a friends Ody (2009) on the FL Tpke last week and my god it gets very noisy ate 70MPH. A lot of wind howl
I am on the fence right now to wait for the 2011 Ody or Pull the plug on the new Sienna. Toyota hasn't been forthcoming with its issues either so its a tough call.
You can buy some piece of mind by getting extended warranty from Hondacare
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
I'm starting to have the torque converter issue--I've actually heard that the warranty on that part hsa been extended past 3/36. Might want to look into that.

Oil consumption---haven't noticed anything. I know there's the brake recall, but mine is fine and the dealer I talked to said they routinely check for it (post-TSB) but haven't found it to be an issue.

Wind noise--a bit subjective. Mine is picking up a bit of a whistling noise at lower speeds which is annoying and may be a sealant. As far as higher speed--I'll put it this way--its a LOT less than my dad's '09 Town and Country. Yes, there's some noise--I don't think its especially bad, and there is very little engine noise. Noiser than the Sienna? Haven't driven the new one, but yeah, probably. Distractingly bad? Not to me.

    Dealer Fee = $489.00
    Tag & Title Fee = $42.00

    Just purchased today 3/26:

2010 Odyssey EX-L (no RES) Slate Green w/ gray interior
OTD without trade would have been approx $30,500.

    Price: $27,900
    + Destination: $710
    = $28,610
    -Trade in ($4,000)
    = $24,610 taxable
    + Taxes: $1,538 (MA, 6.35%)
    +Doc Charge $299
    +Plate transfer $100

    = $26,547

Vehicle was through Bernardi in Natick, MA. They were the lowest in the Boston area by over $700. They also were very prompt via email while other dealers took too long or were phone call-crazy. They have a lot full of Odysseys and expect a very busy weekend. My sales guy today already have 7 appointments book for tomorrow. They want to sell by 3/31. Sales was very straightfoward. Was low-balled trade @ $3,200 and worked it up to $4,000. Started at 9am and even with a trip to get the check from the bank I was done & out the door at 1:30pm. No handouts in parts...though I will simply order through them online & install myself.
