Keep in mind that I saved 1000 in taxes by trading in, as you only pay sales tax on the difference. Also it had a lot of cosmetic issues that could be easily taken care of by the dealer, but would cost me much more to do or force me to bring down the price significantly.

I just purchased 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring for $38,900 +TTL in northern South Carolina (Charlotte metro area). They quoted $500 over invoice but then forced me to buy mud guards and wheel locks at ridiculous markup. But given how hard it is to get a touring, I think I did pretty good.

I'm finally taking the plunge on my Man Van. Never thought I'd be driving a van. At least I feel like I got a good deal (probably a better deal out there tomorrow though) and I didn't have to fly to Boston.

Vehicle price including destination, roof rails and fog lights on a 2011 EX-L RES:
    $33,600 + TTL
  • ny_danny_dan Member Posts: 12
is 33600 include destination? I got quotes for 34000 including destination and license.
They seem to hint I can do a bit better. This is in the NYC metro area. If I can get it down to 33500 + Tax. Then I will take the plunge by end of this Month as well.

fixmix, this price is very good. Can you share the dealer that you got this price from? Thanks.

did not try to sell extra stuff.

fixmix, this is the best deal on the 2011 EXL in the bay area. I only got price around $1000 above the invoice. Can you share the information of the dealer where you got this price?
  • sellmorehondassellmorehondas Member Posts: 62
What was the price of the vehicle? Taxes? Fees? Did you have a trade. OTD price means something only to those living in the same locale. Just curious.
  • sellmorehondassellmorehondas Member Posts: 62
They are making an effort. Giving you the reduced dealer cash. Ask them to see the report about repairs that were made. 2010's are limited and there are no incentives on 2011.

Make your own decision. It is not a lemon. Car has to be sold and registered and have a documented history of problems that are unsolvable to become a lemon.

Sometimes, it is as simple as a broken window or dent.

Have an independent inspection done on it.
  • sellmorehondassellmorehondas Member Posts: 62
Fair price. I thought this was an Odyssey forum. Sienna is not in the same league at this time for most people. Check the comparisons. LE does not match up exactly and then you also have to deal with their different option packages. Rarely do you find a base LE. Making it even harder to compare.
  • sellmorehondassellmorehondas Member Posts: 62
You don't even know what the damages are! Dealer cash is lower than it was. We have been out of 2010 models for months. If we had a 2010, it would be an easy sale at MSRP. Supply and demand. That is what it is all about. Period. End of Story. Selling prices on remaining 2010 Odysseys went up as the supply dwindled.

    Economic fact of life.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
If you are just looking for a base EX-L, then that makes no sense. A 2011 isn't going to be that much more and is a much more modern van. You'll make up the difference in depreciation costs with the newer model year vehicle anyway.

Buying1, can you tell me who you worked with? i'm trying to find a way to PM you but can't figure that out. i'm in the VA area and your pricing looks good.

    Hi naabs,

This is from a dealer in Santa Rosa. I have never dealt with them personally nor have I closed a deal with them. So far the communication has all been through emails.

Most Northbay dealers are still greedy. They keeping the inventory very low at the moment to create a high demand/low supply image.

    Good luck

We got our Touring 2011 from Honda Berkeley about a month ago for just under 39K (about 2.5k below MSRP, 1.3K above invoice). Hardly a bargain, but it was the best I could do and I needed to buy quick.

Dealt with the internet manager; no hassle. no upsell, and no BS dealer added accessories.
  • kvn1kvn1 Member Posts: 52
" If we had a 2010, it would be an easy sale at MSRP"

in your dream. Then why don't you collect all 2010 with a few thoudsand off as all dealers offering now and try to sell back to make a profit for your own?
  • lev280lev280 Member Posts: 27
Most complaints about Sienna are about its "plastic" interior and ride (which is somewhat subjective). Features-wise, Sienna offers a better deal IMO. Three features that are in Base LE are BT, USB and backup camera. Odyssey EX does NOT offer these in EX.

Also, EX has a 5 speed auto transmission vs LE's 6 speed auto transmission.
  • steve_norcalsteve_norcal Member Posts: 4
That's actually not a bad deal considering you get to see the car in person and there was no wait time.

Although I got a good quote; the dealer does not have the car yet which means it just be a low bid to lure me in.
  • cheapskate8cheapskate8 Member Posts: 34
I bought my 2010 Touring ($34,700) last month from this Santa Rosa dealer...I passed 14 dealers on the way b/c they were the lowest in the Bay area. They held to their end of the bargain.

I have been looking extensively as well. Unfortunately, it is simple supply and demand with the Elites. Not too many dealers will budge from MSRP. I have spoken and emailed several different dealerships in California.

This forum has been very helpful and someone recently posted some information about a dealership in Boston (Weymouth) with pricing below invoice even for the Elites. They need between 8-12 weeks or so to receive the vehicle and you would have to pay TTL in California upon receipt. They say the deposit is refundable. The other issue would be shipping the car to CA for another $1000-$1500.

It seems too good to be true (aside from the wait and shipping issues). Anyone out there have firsthand experience with Weymouth? Are the prices legit? Anyone else have experience shipping a new vehicle and purchasing from a dealership 1000's of miles away?

Many thanks for any thoughts or advice.

Below is a cut and paste from Weymouth's email...

2011 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite Automatic Transmission - MSRP is $44,030.00
    $38,923.42Sale Price (including Destination Charge)
    +$0.00Title, Registration & Plates
+$239.00Documentation Fee (lowest of any dealer in New England)
    +$0.000% Tax
    $39,162.42Total Price (no hidden charges)

I was offered an EXL w/ destination and the advertising fee for $33,250. No NAV, no RES. I think this is still too high. Thoughts?
  • 3under53under5 Member Posts: 15
We finally bought our EX-L (no NAV/RES) at Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg. The salesperson was professional and straight forward through the entire process. No surprises. On top of that, he drove the car 2 hours to deliver it to us in the Philly suburbs. And, took his time with us making sure we understood everything. This saved us at least 5 hours of a weekend day travelling with 2 small kids.

    Here is our pricing:

    $32,304 (including destination)
217 Title, Registration & Doc Fee
    1,938 Tax (6% PA)
$34,459 OTD (We did not have a trade.)

I would highly recommend him. There were none of the old school dealer tactics involved. He seemed most interested in customer service and making sure we got what we wanted. He was always quick to respond either via email or telephone. I liked that he gave a quote with all the fees detailed upfront.

Some of the other dealers we initially contacted had good pricing but then changed up their game plan, had exorbitant "fees" revealed only upon pressing or said "those were the specials last month." Particularly, annoying were Ciocca Honda in Harrisburg and Garden State in NJ.

    I hope this is helpful!

Competition must be fierce in the greater Boston area because, historically, there have been other stores in that area that have also sold at seemingly unbelievable prices.

Personally, I can't see doing it from such a distance for several reasons (although I did once have a new car flat-bedded to my house from a dealer 125 miles away).

Why not just expand your local search out a couple of hundred miles?

    Hi,
Im in the process of purchasing a 2011 Honda Odyssey EX-L for $32,400 + TTL. I'm located in Los Angeles Caifornia. If you're in the area I can refer you to the dealer and salesman that help me out. I scheduled to pick up on Tues. they did'nt have the color I wanted at the time.
  • kjrmkjrm Member Posts: 1
originated deal via Costco Auto and got quotes close to Invoice right off the bat within 10 minutes and had an appointment 2hours later.

settled on a Silver Odyssey EX-L for $32,515 + TTL. The Van's from another dealership and is already equipped with MUD GARDS.... There was very little negotiating since I went thru Costco

MUD GARDS are like $85 online if you install yourself.... but my price is still very good I feel.

I also printed off an online price of 2011 Honda Odyssey ALL SEASON FLOOR MATS which they are going to match for $150 and add it on.

we'll finalize in a few days once they get the van.

Berkeley Honda is where I got it from. Depending on inventory etc. you may/may not get the same deal. So if you are in hurry, not much can be done. Try your best.

    Hi,
I saw your post re: Los Angeles - I am in San Diego and still shopping around. I would definitely like to hear which dealer you went with, I know you can't post the salesman name, but I think you can post the dealer. There might be a way to send a private message with the salesman. Thanks for any help you can pass along, the San Diego dealers are all still MSRP.
    Congrats on your new van!
    Thanks!
  • kvn1kvn1 Member Posts: 52
wow, Los Angeles-CA already offer 3k off MSRP for 2011, thanks
Obviously sale of Odyssey 2011 is not what Honda is expecting, unlike dot com time 2001-2002.....

I bought the EX today from Honda Of Escondido for $29,550 including wheel lock, spill guard and splash guard. Out of the door I paid $32,657.

After I bought my Van, Poway Honda email me and say they can sell the Van to me for $31,730 Out of the door (I would assume without wheel lock, spill guard and splash guard). You may want to try there first.

PS: I also received an offer from Mission Valley Honda for $30,102 plus tax and other fee

    Good luck!

I am interested in buying 2011 Odyssey EX-L With Navigation and RES. What price should I pay OTD. Please help.
    Thanks In Advance :)
  • kktkkt Member Posts: 3
I used MSRP as TOD price (in San Diego)
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
The price is infinity because that model does not exist in 2011! You have to pick either RES or NAV if you want an EX-L. If you want both it has to be a Touring.

    Hi,

I have been following this forum and found the information useful, so I wanted to submit an update on my experience.

Just purchased a EXL-RES (Smoky Topaz) for $33,793 (Destination Included). I was looking at the EXL too, which they said they would sell for $1,600 less than the RES.

Had a few dealers trying $35k-$36k for the same vehicle and, from reading on here, I learned that I should keep trying, since selling at MSRP is crazy in this market.

    Best.

It looks like the Elites are starting to arrive in So Cal. Every dealer I've heard from is quoting MSRP and telling me that everyone else is charging more than MSRP. To counter, they are starting to drop the prices on the Touring.

Anyone getting quotes on the Touring or Touring Elite for below MSRP in So Cal? I

I have been following this board for a few weeks as I've been researching the Odyssey in great detail. I will purchase sometime next week, but I feel like I am in a bidding war in my favor right now. Two weeks ago I was at $1000 over invoice, last weekend I was at $650 over invoice and my most recent quote today was $33,042 which I believe is just under invoice by approx $50.

I am currently talking with 3 different dealers and all are motivated to earn my business. None of them have the van in stock today, but all can get it within the next 30 days (some by early Dec).

I'll post how this ends, but I plan to email all 3 early next week asking them for the final bid by end of day on Weds so I can go purchase the vechile on Friday AM.

Just wanted to share my experience to date in case it helps... good luck!
  • kvn1kvn1 Member Posts: 52
33,042 for EX-L w NAV is a great price, but I don't think we should agree and pay for the Van today and have the Van 30 days later, as you can see the price has been dropped around $3000 in less then 2 months, so if you would have the Van in 30 days, then why don't you wait until they have in stock and you may have lower quote by then. You should see a few hundres below invoice by end of this year.
  • sellmorehondassellmorehondas Member Posts: 62
Showing up? I looked the other day and Honda showed three Elites on the ground in the entire state.
  • sellmorehondassellmorehondas Member Posts: 62
Reality, kvn1. Reality. Scarcity means a higher price. Been there, done that.
  • utc2utc2 Member Posts: 42
I believe dealerships will have more supply in SoCal in the next 1-2 weeks although everyone I have spoken to will not go lower than MSRP. I'd be optomistic that when the Elites stop selling on a "pre-order" basis prices might start to fall but not like the rest of the country particularly the East Coast.

I put down a deposit as a Plan B from Weymouth in Boston (see post #27050) - they are $1000 below invoice and even with $1500 for shipping I will still be saving about 4k. They seem legit as there have posters on this site confirming these low prices. I need to wait 8-12 weeks for the car to be produced and if prices drop locally in that time and I can find the color combination I'm looking for I'll get my deposit back and buy locally.

Just another option to circumvent the greedy SoCal market.

    I am in Northern California.

I got a quote for 2011 honda odyeesy exl

    OTD including $3,000 taxes = $37,800

Is this a fair price? by the way, I am trading in my car for the new one.

    Thank you!
  • babsmillerbabsmiller Member Posts: 20
Spreen and Penske are supposedly getting them in this week. Spreen said the one they are receiving is already sold.
  • kvn1kvn1 Member Posts: 52
I think it is very high price. I think OTD should be the MSRP price, so for EX-L, OTD price should be around $35,200 without trade-in, with trade-in price should be lower. Your quote 37,800 is way too high for base EX-L, check truecar.com to see other people pay in your local area. Do not let those sale people on this forum told you the price is ok, do your own research, but IMO I think 37,8k for EX-L is too high, that was the price of 5 weeks ago, not now. .
  • ulsanulsan Member Posts: 2
Thank you for your advise. I should do more research. Thank you for telling me that OTD should be the MSRP price.
  • rick185rick185 Member Posts: 1
Is there a site that gives dealer costs for such options as roof rails, crossbars, bodyside moldings? The Honda site lists it, respectively, $210, $163, $205. Honda chose not to factory install these options, perhaps giving dealerships the advantage to increase their profit lines. I find the roof railing setup practical for such times more space is temporarily needed. The body side moldings, well, dings happen!

I'd highly recommend Bernardi Parts or Majestic Honda. Both are real dealers offering online stores with great prices. I believe the Honda estore just takes you to your local dealer parts store, where prices are high. I have often bought online from these Honda dealers and it has worked out well. You can check their shipping info and see how many days it will take for your things to arrive, so you might want to use an online dealer on your side of the country. I just installed splash guards and body side molding that I got from Bernardi. Good luck.
