Ijust finished an Internet chat with this dealer. The 33,900 is out the door but not really. Bc this is in Florida, we have to pay 2% to an Alabama tax bc we live in Alabama. They also want to tack on a 499.00 dealers fee. That brings the grand total to 35,118.60 out the door. What can I do to lower this price????

    Thanks! Leigh

33900 OTD is a very good price but why they charge 499 dealer fee ?
  • houstonodhunthoustonodhunt Member Posts: 11
31,891 + TTL . 2011 Honda EX-L w/ RES. is a good price , has anyone got lower quote than this?
  • hondathirteenhondathirteen Member Posts: 5
OTD quote for 2011 Ody-EXL-RES $36,500 in dallas,tx area. is this a good quote? or has anyone found one that's cheaper nearby? planning to buy w/in a week or two.
  • hondathirteenhondathirteen Member Posts: 5
$33,931 is the exact selling price we got quoted here in dallas, texas. w/ tax/title/ect came to OTD $36,500. we're wondering if we got a good quote too.

$36,100 OTD in Chicago Area is the best i found.
  • applegeekapplegeek Member Posts: 3
Ignore this price .Sales guy now says this a ex-l quote not with RES.

I was going to say...something's not right there!

One of the reasons I pulled the trigger on my $32.7/$33 w/splash guards and wheel locks- deal is that I think that's as good as can be done until or unless Honda puts an incentive on this vehicle. My bet is that Honda will not do that for a long, long time. Toyota has not yet put anything on the Sienna. For an EX-L/RES, $32,700 represents invoice minus all of the holdback---so true cost.

Where in FL? I am still getting all my offers for at least 2K over the invoice. Does anyone know which south florida dealership will sell it for cheaper?

Purchased a 2011 EX-L with Navigation for $32412 + 780 (freight) + 99 (processing) + 999 (VA tax) + 143 (2 years tags/ title). Out of the door price - $34433. Car was purchased in Maryland. Basically worked out 600 under invoice. Had to get creative with negotiating.

Did anyone buy an Odyssey van from Anderson Honda in Palo Alto? Could you share the price you paid? Looking for the EX-L with Entertainment Package (Not Touring).

    Thanks,

Which dealership in Maryland did you buy this from?
  • jakmaljakmal Member Posts: 4
almost did...until we dicovered a big manufacturing defect and backed out...also their prices are not the best n the bay area. they will entice you with good internet prices...only to go there and find out that vehicle is not in stock.

Wanted to give back to the forum since I found this to be very helpful in my search. I just purchased a 2011 EX-L w/ NAV at invoice in the Chicago area.

I was able to get 3 of the larger dealers in the Chicago area to bid vs each other over the course of a month. Each time they came down more and more until I got to invoice pricing. They started at $1500 over invoice in mid-Nov and slowly came down until I got them to invoice.

Last weekend I walked into the Honda dealership in Aurora, IL ready to buy and gave them the price they needed to beat/match to earn my business. Told them I was serious and ready to put $500 down so they could begin searching for my vehicle. Also told them if they didn’t want to beat it, that was OK as well as I was going to go to their main competitor down the street (which was true). They didn’t want lose the deal, so they came in at invoice to win my business.

They were great to deal with, very responsive, very professional. My salesperson was outstanding which is why I ultimately gave them first/last chance. They originally didn't have the van, but were able to do a dealer trade and had it in 2 days.

    $33, 793 – EX-L w/ NAV price including destination

Since tax title and plates may vary it doesn’t make sense to include the otd price.

Also had a trade in, but handled that separately and they were willing to match the CarMax price (was a $300 difference).

They told me no one has gotten one for less than $500 above invoice (bet that say that to everyone), but from reading the forums it sounds about right.

Lastly, they did try to gauge me on accessories (floor mats, body side molding, cargo tray, splash guards, etc...), so I just bought that stuff from Bernardi Parts and am going to have a body shop in the area install the molding for $50 vs the $249 the dealer was going to charge me Shipping was minimal… strongly recommend Bernardi for accessories.

Anyway, just wanted to pass along my success story… good luck!

From Ourisman Honda/ Bethesda. Would not recommend them since they will get you in the dealership and try pressuring you to sell at a higher price. Would recommend the honda dealership in Laurel or one in ellicott city. the one in Ellicott city preferably. Let me know if you are interested in a similar deal. I can tee it up for you with one of these dealers versus you negotiating from scratch. I have found these forums really helpful and just want to pay back..

kmich71... I am also in the Chicago Land area can you tell me which three dealerships you eventually dealt with or email me?

Just wanted to share the final price i received today. Did some standard email negotiation and got invoice price quoted from Bankston Honda in Lewisville. Called David Mcdavid in Frisco to see if they would match and they did. The wife had been in to them a few times to look so i felt obligated to give them a chance. No hidden fees or BS in general other than the add ons. I had him down to $750 from $1600 for them but luckily they ended up having another Odyssey without any add-ons so i took that instead.

    $31985 EX-L
    $180 Doc fee
    +TTL

Pretty happy based on what i had been quoted earlier. I'm sure time of the year and month helped a lot. I probably could have pushed a bit harder or gone between dealers but it wasn't worth it for a few hundred dollars.

By the way, Bankston said they would not come off MSRP on the Touring model so looks like those are still in high demand around here....

I'll check back if anyone has any questions.

Bought an EX-L from capital Honda, Okemos MI

    Price - 31569.22
    OTD - 33802.21 (doc fee 190 + tax + new title)

Excellent service from capital honda. They stayed late till 8:50 PM to get me processed. i felt good going there. I contacted them first thru sams club auto buying program and then went with a quote from a chicago dealer.
Brighton Honda wanted $500 more. The sales man's actual question was how much higher can you go?
  • gt98gt98 Member Posts: 2
Grabbed an EX-L with RES from Jim Coleman Honda in Clarksville, MD for $32,651 which matched the price from Elicott City, but added wheel locks, mud guards, door moldings, pin stripes and nitrogen air filled in tires. I figured it was good enough.
I walked in and they kept their word on the price. I requested each dealership I contacted provide all other charges to make sure I could do a proper comparison. I must say MD's 6% sales tax on cars was painful to swallow.

    Hi,

I'm just starting my search and received a quote that I'd like opinions on if it is good. It's for a 2011 Odyssey EX-L with Navigation. The quote is:
    $32,468
+ 100 title and reg fee
    + 299 documentation fee
    + MA sales tax
    I'm located in MA.

Any help on if this is a good price is much appreciated!!! Thank you!!

I am getting quotes for Invoice from castle honda in chicago for EX-L and Mcgrath honda says that they will beat any price by 300$. Any body got lower than that? they are saying that financing will be @ 4.99% .....any suggestios
  • manu4manu4 Member Posts: 3
I think that is an excellent price. Its next to impossible to get these for under invoice and this is almost 500 under inovice. I am assuming the price does not include destination of 780 (you did not list it). If it does then the price is a steal.
  • maxaudreymaxaudrey Member Posts: 3
Thanks for responding. The quote says that it includes the Honda destination fee. I don't know what they'll give for my trade in but it did seem like a good price for the Odyssey with Nav.
  • ody13ody13 Member Posts: 5
I think there is a some catch there...you are almost 1400 under invoice if it includes the destination.....it's tough to even get them under invoice here in chicago

The last time I obtained a Honda was in 2007 from Honda of Miami just off the Palmetto. I dealt with the Director of Internet Sales. He was patient (the email exchanges for the deal eventually totaled 33 pages) and gave me an excellent price. I know he is still at the dealership in the same position because I recently purchased a Honda Service Contract from him.
  • rrb2rrb2 Member Posts: 5
manu4, Thanks for responding with details. I will call the dealers you have mentioned and try to get a quote.
  • rrb2rrb2 Member Posts: 5
gt98, Does the price of 32,651 include destination or is that separate? What was your out the door price?
  • archiefriendarchiefriend Member Posts: 7
Which dealer in MA gave you this quote? Your numbers are almost too good to believe. Did they lowball you on your trade to make up the difference? I've been dealing with Atamian Honda in Tewksbury MA and Colonial Honda in Dartmouth MA and neither one seems very eager to do a deal. I want to buy a Touring by the end of the year.

I have an offer for 2011 Odyssey EXL-RES for $36,500 OTD/drive out (no add ons). Is this a good deal for the Dallas, Texas area? Or need to shop around more?
  • azkid2azkid2 Member Posts: 47
People need to list prices WITHOUT TTL as those items vary from state to state and city to city.
  • maverixmaverix Member Posts: 21
    Hello folks
I just joined sidelines since last few weeks figuring out the current good offers for Ex-l. I finally decided to actively start shopping and am ready to make a purchase.
Do any of you have a offer price (or something thats negotiated as well) on this model. I am not quite into the RES or NAV. So for now decided to stick with simple Ex-L.
Can you give me a referal if any of you had made a recent purchase in NJ (central or North).

Did any of you get a good deal ? Was it web only or did you go in and negotiate. What worked best for you? Pl share..

I just sent a request to couple of dealers and waiting on to hear some quotes. I plan to start making calls and talking with one or 2 of them at first.
    Thanks everyone.

Agree, post without TTL, in most states when you trade in a car it also helps your sales tax bill. You only pay taxes on the difference between trade in value and purchase price. Make a huge difference on "OTD" price....

Guys, I need Small help, I got good quote, but they pre-installed Pro Pack, they asking me to charge 1000 dollars, it it worth?

Please help me in this, if you know about pro pack?

This pro pack contains floor mats, fog lights, and ....etc
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
No, it not likely worth it. "Pro packs" and similar charges are simply an additional source of income for dealers.

The relative value wholly depends on what is included. It sounds like your situation at least concerns some accessories which you can easily price on-line to determine value.

    Hi,

I've been following this forum and find it really helpful. It's my first time buying a new car so I'm not sure if these fees are mandatory or not to pay besides the price quoted by the dealer.

Destination charge, Title and Plate fees, Sales tax, documentation fee.

Also, if anyone could post how much they paid for for the EX-L with DVD in MI, it would be helpful. Thanks!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
All but the documentation fee are mandatory - there is no getting around any of them anywhere.

Depending on where you are, doc fees may vary by dealer and/or be negotiable.
  • hedmundshedmunds Member Posts: 5
Thanks for your reply. For destination charge, say if it's in MI, is it the same amount for every dealer? And what's the most that you pay for documentation fee?

Ready to purchase either 2011 EX-L Nav or Touring asap. I live in Los Angeles.

Any Recommendations/Knowledge on specific dealers selling AT or BELOW Invoice?

Open to any and all dealers in greater Los Angeles. Even willing to drive down to San Diego area too.

    I will most likely lease.

If you can share your numbers as well, that would be great.

    Thanks!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
The destination charge is the same for every dealer, whether in Michigan, California, or down the street from the assembly plant in Alabama.

Doc fees are usually a function of local market forces. The non-negotiable norm here in Ohio is $250 while in Florida (the highest in the country) it seems to run from $400 to $600.

Just look at it as part of the price. When you get a fair number of quotes you'll have a good idea of local market conditions. In my experience, at least one dealer will always sell for less - just solicit quotes until you find that store.

I got a price from Braman Honda in FL.

    2011 EXL-RES
    $33,200
    dealer fee:589
    tag & doc fee:89
Included 4 free oil changes and window tinting at front windows

Is this a good price or can get better one?
    please need advice.
  • dado_kdado_k Member Posts: 11
This seems to be the really good price in florida. I have been shopping for a while and never got anything close to that. Where is this dealership and how did you get this price, in person or via email?
  • tbl2ptstbl2pts Member Posts: 1
Purchased a EX-L RES today at Crown Honda In St. Petersburg.

$33485 $200 under invoice with Add ons - cargo tray, wheel locks, nitrogen and mud flaps
    Dealer fee -$597

I contacted 10 dealers and asked for the email address of the Internet sales manager. I then sent an email requesting a quote from each manager. Quotes ranged from $33485 - $33630. I then negotiated with the top three dealers.

The Internet sales manager at Crown (jack) was professional and a pleasure to work with.

Braman Honda of PB in WPB.

    hondaflorida,
Does the $33200 price include the $780 destination fee?
if not, very good price indeed!
  • yodamiles1yodamiles1 Member Posts: 1
    hondaflorida,
Who are you working with at Braman? This seems to be a lot better than what they quoted me a few days ago. I'm nervous because this dealer doesn't have the best reputation in south Florida. Does $33,200 include the destination charge?

    Hey guys,
After a lot of haggling and going to different dealerships, the best offer i have got for a 2011 Odyssey EX-L w/Navigation:

    -$32800 + tax(7% in NJ)
    -$780 (destination fee)
    -$400 (doc fee)
-$400(Title,Tags and Registration--i am based in NJ)
    -$500 (remote starter)

Is it a good bargain? Please let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks much!

Hey hondaflorida, just like others have asked, does it include destionation fee? Who did you talk to that gave you that price ( i know names should not be included, but what the heck. I'm dealing with someone there right now and he is flat out asking who got that deal offered to them, he can look it up. Lowest they gave me was 33685 for EXL (includes destination). Still good 1500 hundred over the invoice.
