My wife's co worker got his Saturday at the same place I got mine last month (at a much higher price, I might add, this being the "savvy" Edmunds buyer) at Anderson Honda. His price is $26,688 and they delivered for free to his house like they delivered to my house.
Since it's against Edmunds policy, I can't provide any links or phone numbers, but you can look into the Honda or yahoo web sites for these places. Try the internet department and see what you can get from either one.
Capitol Honda is south San Jose has pretty low prices also as Hexn bought from them last month. I believe staff Sylvia on the Edmunds board bought hers at El Cerrito Honda and she got a low price as well.
just make sure you arrange for your salesman to pick you up for free at either Oakland or San Jose airport (depends on which ever one has sales to/from Portland airport).
Good luck.
I read the posts and am floored that people are getting $1K-$2K off. I am not afraid to deal but the dealers that I am referring to all say they do not deal on Odyssey. In fact, to a dealer, they say if I find an Odyssey at a discount, that I should grab it. I even bring out the "2004 Sienna" card. No reaction.
I'm not an inexperienced car buyer. Please tell me that I am not the only one in NJ NOT getting a bigger discount!!
Welcome. As a new visitor of this forum, the rule (what rule?) is that you must be willing to buy everyone a $1.99 conversation mirrors before we will point you to the best shopping places in NJ/NY area (just kidding).
You're in Lapvn (Norman) country. He will take good care of you. He may be on his way home, so you may not get an answer until tomorrow....
Just a quick background. Midwest/South tends to have the lowest prices on Odys. Expect to get at least $2K off in Ohio or in Texas. But sounds like SF bay area is not that far behind at $2200 off.
Someone just got $2 above invoice over the weekend in Chicago area (post 3824 got deleted because he mentioned the salesman's name?) Which means to me they got $2800 off. Hislander says he got an offer in Texas for $3K off, but it's not a confirmed/signed deal, so we'll see on that one.
Nonetheless, we are done - the salesman did an excellent job - his survey will reflect. I still don't "feel" like I bought a car.
Big thanks to all those over the years who have contributed to this board. I have learned a TON of great info. My next stop is HandA for a few simple accessories.
Enjoy All!

In East Bay area, the biggest inventory of Ody is Dublin Honda at 31 Odys when I check just 2 minutes ago. Obviously Oakland Honda is close to the airport. Staff Sylvia's Honda in El Cerrito isn't that far up 880/80 from the airport. San Leandro Honda is like 10 miles south on 880 from Oakland airport. Livermore Honda is just another 10 miles more east than Dublin. I never got any decent prices with Hayward Honda or Auto west Honda in Fremont. But you can try those bad boys as well.
As far as I see it, if someone is willing to come by and pick you up at the airport for free, I don't think it really matters too much how far away from the airport the dealership is. Seeing that garyw has a nice little rive back to OR from CA, what's the few extra miles if he can save $$.

Just be sure you refinance your car for $300 off so else people will start wondering about Njswamplands post 3835 on what he is referring to....
Started the refinance process this morning... Will cost $43 but I wash myself from questionable tactics of the finance dude... And still save $257. Now I can go buy the cargo tray/splash guard/wheel locks at HandA!

Just be thankful you're weren't exiled like jsmath5 was in the other Ody versus Sienna forum for mentioning the unmentionables.
This is not the first time this has happened to me as I responded to a post and then later on when I went back to check on the details on the post, I realized the original post was gone. So it looked like I was talking to thin air.
Maybe I should have done that on April 1, April fools day, start to congratulate all the "phantom" Ody owners in 10 posts in a row and people are wondering, WHO are these 10 new owners that Harryfat guy is talking to?
Don't forget to buy the $1.99 (plus tax) conversation mirrors that njswampland reminded you in post 3835...
Enjoy your new Ody and laugh all the way to the bank, with or without your suit case...

What am I missing - what's the gotcha or questions to ask.
Thanks....
I know nothing about leases. Try this web site for basics:
http://www.carbuyingtips.com/lease.htm
How does that $25,997 play into the lease terms? Like I said, I know nothing. But I'm sure there are lots of Edmunds forums that mentions leases...
As far as leasing discussions go (Lease Questions - Ask Here is a favorite), we also have a bunch of articles plus some leasing calculators here:

harryfat. Yep I was adding the dest. in the price. I just started shopping now. But as mentioned sent out some emails, but I think it was in the wrong format. I know $2200 off MSRP may be crazy, but As a walk in I was offered $1300 off. As you can see maybe by waiting it out a little I can get better than that offer, and if I do via email it may help.
Either way I have time, I'll be looking to trade in my car / or sell it so I am in no rush. Thanks again.
2nd is yes the discounts are true. However, for us in the East and West coast the discounts seem to arrive via pony express from the Midwest. When I started here (oh god I sound like a grandfather) midwest people were bragging about $2k, and Harry and I were looking at the best deal possible at $5. Anyway, as per rules, just email me and I will send you all the info that I have and give you any other advice I can give you.
Savvy - Harry, here how savvy I am, as you know the salesman FEDEX me my plates, title and registration. I told him, while your at it I want some of those nice key chains. In the FEDEX envelope I find 2 PLASTIC key chains that you find at tourist traps for $.99 with the dealers name on it. WOw are these those nice key chains. I guess I now know how thankful that salesman was. sssshhhhssss
FOR SALE $1.99 conversation mirror, special for the week to first two buyers, FREE KEY CHAIN.
If you flew into Oakland or San Jose you would be no more than 30 min. from dealer. I did my whole deal over internet/phone quite easily. Made an appointment to come in and complete paper work and it was all done in advance. I used to drive from Bay Area to Salem in 10 hours. Good Luck! Had the van now one week it is great.
Congrats on all the new owners!
Thanks Toyota.
FYI, in last week's Friday edition of the SF Chronicle, Winter Honda in Pittsburg, CA had an ad for an Odyssey EXL-NAV for $3000 off MSRP.
I stopped reading the SF Chronicle/Comical since I started working in SJ now. More partial for the Merc. But I will keep that $3K off in mind for future buyers when they ask for help.
As for Dublin, I said this before in many previous posts, they have one of the biggest inventory here in the bay area, but at least when I was looking last month, they didn't come close to having the best prices. Glad you guys had good experiences with them. But like I told Gary from OR, he has a good choice of Honda dealers to pick from here in the bay area as he gets lots of quotes. I always include Dublin in all my bay area references just because of their inventory size.
BTW: The two Ody van related boards were number 1 and 2 yesterday. I don't ever recall seeing 2 van discussions up there as 1 and 2...

It's tough to track where all the people bought their vans. Especially when new buyers come in and say "I live in X state, is this a good deal?" I then have to jog my memory bank to see who bought what where. I guess if I really didn't have a life outside of Edmunds, I can do a spreadsheet on who bought what when and the number of posts.
So when someone come in and ask, I can just pull up the spreadsheet and say, "Per BobSmith in Boise, ID, he bought an Ody on 12/31/02 for $1500 off MSRP from ABC dealership and his post was number 1000, look it up". Boom, no fuzz, no muss...
It stands for Rear Entertainment System. The EXL-RES signify's you are looking at a Odyssey with leather and comes standard from the factory a Honda DVD entertainment system.
But if you bought a Dodge T&C, you might get a key chain with Celine's picture with it and maybe even autographed too, then it's worth something...
But, it's free for me and when I start selling these conversation mirrors I can sell send them out as promos.
Hey I am still waiting for the phones to ring, where are all my orders. Maybe I can sell them to Toyota at a discount instead.
Look at post 3809, someone from KY bought one, but I don't recall him saying where he bought his. Search up and down for couple days before and after to see if there were mentions of prices in KY.
As sales tax rules are different by state by local jurisdictions, very few people quote just the "out the door price" as it means nothing to others outside of your county/city. Most people prefer to use $$ off MSRP as that's easiest to measure. Sometimes people use $$ above invoice. Which is the same, just an addition instead of subtraction to get to your numbers.
You posted in 3579. "Hotsoups" (How can I forget a name like that?) posted in 3587 and 3590 that he bought in El Cerrito Honda for a low price as well.
Since those were so closed to each other, I just associated you with El Cerrito as I know you're "up north somewhere".
One more month I'll never be able to track who bought where and for how much...
Winter Honda had another ad the week before (April 18-19) that advertised an EX cloth for $24,900 ($2460 off an MSRP of $27360). Their ad is also in the Contra Costa Times but not in the San Jose Mercury.
Stevens Creek was quoting $25400 for EX cloths through their Internet/Fleet sales.
So the new target for SF/SJ bay area folks is aim for $237 above invoice on the Ex cloth as per the price set by Winter Honda? That makes the Steven Creek quote of $25400 ($737 above invoice) to be over priced?
At this rate, we'll soon see the $2 above invoice deal like wholigan in Chicago by end of June. Amazing...

St. Louis Honda is where we went, but Huey's Honda is also offering great deals through the online manager. Both people I dealt with were great- Huey's didn't have the van in the color we wanted- midnight blue.
We could have bought it tonight but there was a bad thunderstorm and they closed at 6, so we decided to wait, drive it tomorrow, and then negotiate the warranty!!!
We were approved through peoples first for 4.39%, but the dealer does not accept their checks, so we are approved through "their" bank for the same rate! Good thing!
They have many left, all trim lines- this is a great deal!!!!
I will post more once i have our new van Wed night!!!
Thanks to all of you for helping me, now on to the warranty........
1.Sienna: local dealers in NY/NJ are sticking to MSRP, but you do see postings in PA dealers going at 2 to 4 % above invoice price, the best deal heard so far is in the mid-west, $500 above invoice.
2.MPV: invoice - $2000 dealer cash are common practice among all dealers. Likely Mazda is going to continue its promotion in May to boost its minivan market share.
As a consumer, I am just enjoying watching the competition going, MANY THANKS TO EDMUNDS AND YOU FOLKS HERE for keeping shoppers informed and pushing the dealers to be honest. Too bad my wife is going to pull the plug to stop the music and make a decision on our selection tomorrow- it's time to move on. Can't wait to see when the Quest join the market in a month.
Another great idea, Windwalkerman; hope the rest of your deal goes as smoothly.

This was my final deal: EXL-RES $27559 ($200 over invoice or $2801 under MSRP including destination charge). I then added the Honda Tow Pkg at the end for $641, the 7yr/100,000 mile Zero Deductible Bumper to Bumper warranty for $960. I had received quotes primarily from $1250 to $1475 for the warranty. The doc fee was only $40 compared to $160 that seemed to be somewhat standard.
I received many great quotes, but in the end three dealerships were all in this general area. I had finally narrowed down the dealer that I was going to do business with and my phone rang. It was a dealer that sent me a quote through email that was higher than the rest, so I had not replied to him. I told him the deal I was getting and he ended up beating the deal by matching the other dealers prices and then reducing the tow pkg by another $100, the warranty by another $20 and his doc fee went to $40. So, my advise to everyone is to reply to every email you receive and tell them what you are getting. If they are hungry, you will be happy. Many thanks to all of you who participate in these discussions. Good luck and happy hunting!
