Anyone in Southern California that has recently made a purchase of 2012 Sonata GLS can share their price paid and/or dealership name? I'm looking for a 2012 Sonata GLS with Auto with MSRP of 21,455.
So far the best price I got is $20,267. Can I do better than this? This is about $300 under invoice right now. Is the $500 cash only available for previous hyundai owners or can anyone get it if you lease the car? So to those that are getting the car at $700-$1000 under invoice are you calculating this $500 into the deal as well?
Good price for your new Sonata. Does not matter which model or what options, for now everyone should be getting any Sonata for $700 to $1000 below invoice, not counting the loyalty $500 if you qualify which would make it $1500 below invoice and with a reasonable processing fee. $900 below invoice was a good deal!
I think asking for a $500 deposit before he spends time to locate and transport the vehicle is very reasonable. I'd suggest that you get terms of the deposit in writing though:
- Full refundable deposit - Contingent on locating specified vehicle or other deemed acceptable by buyer - If located vehicle other than specified, difference between invoice price and sale price of said vehicle will be same as negotiated for specified vehicle

I'm currently trying to trade in my 2011 se 2.4 on a 2012 se turbo. Same dealer I purchased from at invoice. I only have 2900 miles on the car and they are offering me 22k highest for my trade sun/nav. They are offering me 2012 sonata se turbo at 100 below inv. W/ loyalty included. Is this a good deal ? If not what should I expect? Any dealers in Penn that you can recommend? How can I explain the 700-1000 below invoice ( not incl loyalty)to the dealer when he asks where I get my numbers. Besides a forum. He is also saying it's going to be a long time until they get the iridescent silvr blue pearl in. I currently have the color and love it. Do you know a realistic time frame , or is he just giving me a run a round ? Thanks for any help!!
I know in my recent posts I was asking for advice on a deal for the SE 2.0T + Nav, but I went down to the dealership I was chatting with, test drove a limited turbo, the SE turbo, and a Limited non-turbo. After the road comparisons, I decided to go with the Limited non-turbo. The car has plenty of starting get up for me, the turbo was nice but for where I live, completely unncessary. Great ride, smooth stearing, nothing but good things to say about it. They didn't have the color I was looking for so they are going to go out and find it, with a $500 deposit, returned upon delivery or can be put down on the car at signing.
Here's the deal...
2012 Hyundai Sonata Limited Package - Navigation
Trade In - 2002 Ford Taurus - $2000 Sticker Price - 29,305 Dealer Doc Fee - 399 Rebate - 500
On the surface you got an OK deal, but what are you basing the invoice price on? I'm seeing the invoice on a 2012 non-turbo SE with Nav/Sunroof at around 25,500. So I disagree with the "900 below" assessment.
But you did not get screwed over either - you got a very good price for a nice car. But just know that my target for that car would have been in the 24.5k range.
Like I listed in my only other post on here - Invoice for my 2012 limited turbo is around 27,381 and I negotiated the deal down to 25,680. That's in the 1,700 under invoice range.
My "dealer fee" added 600 to my costs, so as far as I'm concerned, I add that to how I view the car price, so I consider my deal as a 1k under factory invoice deal.
I count the stuff like "Dealers Fee" that a lot of people seem to leave off their deal posts here. If the dealer says "OK I'll knock off 500" and then adds a 500 fee in the Finance office, you net 0, but then they come here and only post the initial -500 price? It would be better if everybody on here used a standard template for reporting deals so people could do a real deal comparison. (and if Edmunds joined the "1990's" and used a real discussion forum software)
The Sonata is selling very fast, at least when I was looking and in my area. Cars would literally show up in the AM and be gone same day PM. If anyone can wait - I would until demand slowed down.
I posted in TrueCar and Zag and got quotations for around 28,000 with above spec, a 750 below invoice. Is that the best we can get? I want to know what some of you could have paid in last few weeks on this spec.
Also let me know if any of accessories are not worth the price. I am not sure about them. All I wanted was the Turbo with Nav. So advice on the accessories too.
I see from previous posts that guys out there paid much less than what I am seeing now for this model. Did the prices increase for this model even while as new model is out?
Now I am ready to buy 2012 Hyundai Sonata, GLS Auto model with Popular(?) package. I don't currently own Hyundai car at this time, but purchased four new Hyundai models in the last 10 years. Including those Hyundai, Acura, Honda... I used to get $3,000 to $5,000 discount from MSRPs. But not at this time.
So far, the best price I've got is about $1,000 off from MSRP. (Somewhere around Invoice price). Some even want full MSRP! Is this reflect current market in So Cal?
When I looked at the newspaper ads, it seems Toyota Camry could be cheaper with more discount they offer. I'm pretty happy about previous Hyundai purchases, but not sure I am willing to pay more than similar one from Toyota. :confuse:
Looks like a good price to me. Some people have reported getting the car for $1,000 under factory invoice so if you feel like pushing things you could shoot for $23,321. I doubt that for $180 it would be worth the hassle and I also doubt that they would go for it.
buying a used 2009 hyundai sonata limited v4 engined 26000 miles 2yr old for 14000 dollars?is this a good deal?am buying from private party.theparty said am buying at almost trade-in-value.can someone suggest please.do you think this is a gud price for leather heated seating and sunroof
Assuming the car is good condition, without any major wreck history, that is a very good price for a Limited Sonata. That price is less than what a GLS equipped car would sell for right now.
The car has no accidents but am hesitating to buy whether i need to put any more expenses for maintenace for the wear and tear. what kind of maintenance do we need to do after 26000 miles? do i need to change brakes after i complete 30,000 miles? or usually for a hyundai sonata after completeing 30k miles what do i need to invest for maintenance liek changing brakes or transmission oil or any other maintenance cost?
Unless its been driven in a lot as stop and go traffic, I would think the brakes should be fine. As far as other fluid changes, I'm not sure what Hyundai recommends, but 30,000 miles would be conservative for the trans oil also. That car would still have 34,000 miles of warranty, or probably 2 or so years left. The question I would ask is why are they selling it under market price?
yes the car has 34000 miles left on the warranty,5year or 60000 miles warranty on hyundai sonata, yes they are selling the car 4000 dollars below the kbb value and 2000 dollars below edmunds value,so am scared if there is any hidden problem with the car,we just test drove on the local road but i had a bad experience previously when buying a used toyota corolla.i live in detroit michigan so am scared whether the party is cheating me or what kind of checks can I do before buying a used Hyundai Sonata? is the overall performace of 2009 hyundai Sonata good?
I guess it could be the economy of that area. I would have it checked out by a mechanic, it would probably we around $100. That would give the piece of mind your want. The Sonata should be a dependable car, if that is what your referring to as performance. It has 175hp and should get low 30-34 mpg on highway driving.
You should have no problems maintenance wise on that vehicle. Check and make sure they had the maintenance done regularly. I would suggest taking it to local Hyundai dealer to have inspected by service dept, should charge $75-100 to check. Good luck
I kind of had the same issue prior to buying my 2012 SE sonata. Most of the dealerships pretty much wanted msrp and low balled my trade in. I then went to the dealership where I had bought my trade in (Santa FE) and they gave me a deal at least $3500 less than any other dealer. I am not sure how they did it (end of the month/repeat customer), but I am glad they did. That and the warranty kept me with Hyundai.
Hi, I'm planning to buy Sonata Limited. The best offer I got is $25264, w/o navigation same as truecar price. Is it a good price? Did anyone get better price than that? not a hyundai owner.
Hi, I am a recent nursing graduate and looking to buy a 2012 Sonata GLS. I have read edmunds and followed their tips. I have quotes from dealers and need help with my decision. What would be best price a 2012 Sonata GLS (automatic) with the popular package. What is the basic accessories needed? I read people got floor mats, mud guards, ipod cable and TTL? This would be my first new car that I bought and I always want to research and make the best of decisions. My first car is a Mitsibushi Mirage 2000 that was given to me by a relative so now that I am on my own, working as nurse, I want something nice and affordable yet fuel efficient.
So far quotes are 1. GLS with Pop package 22,400 + Doc fee 389 + 37 title + tax 1597.82 = $24,423.82 (This is out of my state) 2. GLS with Pop package 22,644 + Doc fee 599 + 22 title + tax 1394.58 = $24,659.68. 3. GLS with Pop package 22,470 + Doc fee 399.99 + 39 (DMV)+ 3 GMV + tax 1600.90 = $24,512. ( This will give me 400 graduate incentive) 4. GLS with Pop package 21655 + Doc fee 599 + 22 title + tax 1335.24= $23,611.24
22000 for automatic GLS sounds expensive. Please check truecar.com for best prices near your area and try negotiating on that price. For southern california I found $20292 without the popular package (which is $750, I guess). You should be able to get for $21000, which is a decent price. You can ask for recent grad coupon on top of this price. I'd not pay beyond $20500+tax, doc fee and license. I'd be excited at $20k though! https://www.truecar.com/prices-new/hyundai/sonata-pricing/2012/C4F25F8A/
I have decided to make an offer of $20890 for a 2012 Sonata GLS automatic with popular package. I hope to hear from all 5 dealers soon so I can get this car and move on. I am tired and my old car is almost giving up on me.
So excited! Just put a deposit down on a one owner, used black 2011 Sonata Limited. We paid $23,000 for it, so we saved a few thousand buying used. The previous owner always had it serviced at the dealership and it looks brand new and in excellent condition. I really love the panoramic sunroof in the 2012, but decided for the money we saved I can live with the standard sun roof. I drive 60+ miles round trip to work everyday and so PUMPED to be driving this car come this weekend! I've never had a car with so many "bells and whistles" and told the salesman I'll need a class before I drive it off the lot. He said that was not a problem to bring my phone and IPod and he'd get me all hooked up. I was trying to see other than the sunroof what the difference is between the 2011 and the 2012, can anyone help?
I'm buying a GLS this weekend with no pop package in Dallas/FW area. How have you all gotten quotes? I try to find a specific contact on the dealers websites, but all I see is the generic "contact us for a quote" page. Am I really going to be successful going through that page? Whenever I've gotten quotes in the past it's usually been BS numbers or "come on down to discuss"
That looks like an excellent price. I just got 25581 on Limited w/o navigation. This includes $500 lease rebate. It also had cargo mat, cargo net and floor mats.
The car has 21,000 miles and no nav. The owner had mud flaps installed, the inside was scotch-gaurded and the outside had rust protection put on. There was a little negotiation back and forth to get to this price...they were originally asking $24995...but thanks to Edmunds we knew to ask lower...and being the end of the month helped, I think, too.
The original owner wanted to bump up to an SUV...so decided to trade.
We've been shopping for a Limited for a few months (looking at new) but when we saw this used one we knew we needed to make a move - they just don't stay on the lot long!
As a member of AAA, I can use its car buying assistance program.
A basic GLS Auto model, with no pop pkg, is quoted at $19,595, and according to TrueCar, this is below the local dealers' cost of $20,175. Price includes the destination fee but of course tax, title, doc fees aren't included.
Good price? Anyone used AAA (powered by Zag)? Is popular pkg really worth it?
Is it just the Dallas area or are all dealers sleeze? I got one quote of 19,104 later told that's with all rebates. So really it's 20,500. I can't get a quote for less than 20,500 on a GLS with no package.
I got the following quote can you please tell me if it's a fair deal?
This is for a Hyundai Sonata 2012 limited *NAV *Carpeted Floor Mats *Cargo Mat *Cargo Net *Mud Guards
MSRP: $29,645.00 Your Price: $27,420.00 Acquisition Fee:$595.00 Documentation Fee: $45.00 Cash out of Pocket $654.76 HMF Lease Cash $500.00 Residual $16,304.75 Payment Including Tax : $400.31 (Base Payment:$368.10 plus $32.21 in taxes) 36 months, 12,000 miles per year allowance
Bought a GLS at South Dallas Hyundai today. Stress free experience. (unlike Irving Honda which caused me to take alka seltzer) I started to doubt whether any dealer would honor a quote or agreed price before stepping in, but no problem here. Dealt with Tim B. Got a GLS with no options or add ons for a little over 19.8k.
I just received a price quote of $21500 OTD for a 2012 Hyundai Sonata GLS (Automatic- Base Model). Taking into account that I'm a NY state resident, where the tax rate is around 8%, is this a good deal?
