Bedard Bros. in Cheshire and Honda North in Danvers were $27,510.00.
These are internet quotes. I have let them all know that I have a better offer. Some have budged and others not at all. I haven't gotten down to business yet. Still comparing to Sienna LE w/ BZ pkg. I've had a quote of $26,995.00 on the Sienna. Decisions decisions. I'll probably make my final decision @ the end of the month. If you buy before me, let me know how it goes and I'll do the same. Good luck
Two weeks ago I was told that the vehicle we ordered had a VIN and that typically vehicles are delivered 2 weeks after the VIN is assigned. Today I was told that the dealer is trying to make a trade with another dealership for the vehicle that we want and hopes to have it by the third week in Dec.
Out of frustration my wife contacted another dealer who says that according to Honda there are only three Black EX-L NAVI/RES allotted to the DC area in the coming months; one, supposedly ours, going to the dealer holding our deposit. My wife was also told that these vehicles are not scheduled to be made until the second week of Jan 2005 so delivery would be in Feb at the earliest.
Has anyone else been having a similar experience?
You have to be prepared to make a legitimate offer, and do so real haggling. You'll get the "hot item, MSRP, etc." spiel, but if you are serious and firm, and somewhat reasonable, you should be able to make a deal.
Don't walk in and ask for invoice. Just Bobst on in, offer, say, 1K off MSRP take it or leave it, and you should leave happy.

In the absence of any supply shortage (real or factory imposed) this should be a no-brainer. A couple of dealers have told me, however, that Honda is currently rationing the touring models, and I know that the demand is quite high. I can see this making my offer much weaker.
Anyone know anything about rationing? Does it apply to specific customer orders or just general dealer stock purchases? If it isn't real, (or even if it is), any chance of making the above offer work? I'm in the Chicago area, but willing to drive a couple of hours to find the right price.
Thanks,
Eric
Thanks in advance...
Any opinions? suggestions?

They were pretty fair with our trade in, 2003 Pilot still under warranty.
I have to say the drive home was very fun for all passengers. My daughter was having fun with the XM Radio and my husband was playing with the Navi. It's a beautiful van and the color combo is great.
Purchased at Zimbrick in Madison, WI. They are willing to deal the Odyies on the lot. They have several tourings in Desert Rock, also a few EXLs with RES/NAV.
When: No idea(do NOT make any plans yet was their response)
Why: No van yet is their standard answer.
We just bought a Sagebrush Pearl Ivory Nav/RES from Norm Reeves Cerritos yesterday. We had a deposit on it since September 24th and the fleet manager snagged it for us when it rolled off the truck. We knew it was due that day, so we went in the minute they called.
Paid MSRP but it's exactly what we wanted and pretty hard to find, as you pointed out. No complaints at all. Everyone in the family loves it.
Our salesguy called me yesterday at 10 to let us know our van was in and he said he's set it aside for us. I tried calling him back and had to leave a message and when he called me back he said that he was sorry, but the van had been sold--but another one was due within the week. I was bummed and started to call around to see if I could find another one. Everywhere I called said that we were looking till mid December but they were all willing to take a deposit. So I called back NR in Cerritos and talked to the sales manager and wanted to know why they would set aside a car for us and then before we could get there, sell it and without the advantage of leaving a deposit, should I just avoid that store? He apologized and went into action. Turns out there was one there. You didn't happen to turn this one down? It was still covered in plastic most everywhere, but my husband still insisted on checking it over with a flashlight (it was about 8:30pm) and we found a dent and a bad scrape on the back hatch--and the hatch won't close unless you slam it dowm hard. If these were'nt so hard to find we would have waited, but of course the repair is on the due bill. I will update on the repair job.
This is a beautiful color combo, isn't it?
Overall, it was a smooth transaction and although it was late when we made it home, it was nice to have a slightly long trip so we could play with all the gizmos---smiling the whole way home!
We have Ody siblings!

Bought the Honda after 4 Chrysler T&C over the last 13 years. Thought the Honda was clearly better overall even though there are some quirks with how they package things. The Sienna was real close but I hate our local Toyota dealer.
Hopefully the Honda will hold up like the Chryslers. We were one of the lucky ones who never had any major problems with ours. My brother bought one and had nothing but trouble with his T&C.
In order to get down a solid deposit and not get yanked around at this dealer, go directly to the fleet managers. It sounds like your sales guy was trying to sell you the one that fleet was holding for us. They took all our information over the phone in advance and marked the car as sold before we showed up. We were paying cash, so it was pretty easy for them to do this.
Good luck with the repair. I was able to look at the inventory list, and I don't think there is another one exactly like our two due for quite a long while. If you were as particular as us on the color and model, you made a good decision to take the one you saw.
We love ours so far. We also have a 2000 Odyssey at home, so our garage is pretty darn full of vans.
I would continue to e-mail Florida Honda Dealers and consider driving 3 or more hours if necessary to get a fair and honest deal. Best of luck !
I stuck with the $31K firm until the sales manager came out to tell me how short the "supply" was on the Oddyssey and how great a vehicle it was. They were showing me printouts of Edmunds and the front page showing that many were paying MSRP. I told him I didn't care. I was not paying MSRP and that we would either wait until the "supply" was better or go buy a Sienna. He also tossed in the 3-cylinder mileage advantage and all the things his dealership would do (roadside assistance, etc). First I told him the 1MPG advantange would take forever to payoff, even at today's prices. Also, I offered that while the customer service polices of his dealership were nice, I would not pay extra for them.
He countered with $33.8K. I told him that I'd buy it for $32K but if he came back with $32.1K the deal wouldn't work. (In reflection, I wish I'd said $31.5K). He went away and came back a few minutes later with a "yes".
The only other things we bought were a cargo mat and cross bars for the roof rack. Got both at 10% above their cost.
We let them finance the deal for 4.99% (hope to have it paid off well before the end of the term) although I handled this negotiation (in reality, not much negotiation) outside of the price.
Only other thing I paid besides TTL was a $89 fee for something. Can't recall what it was. They wanted to charge $700 or something like that for the window etching after we negotiated the $32K, but I refused, so they charged me $70 and dropped the price of the van to $31,930.
Overall, I think I got a good deal for a brand new model. Hopefully it is as reliable as our current 10-year old Toyota and our prior Accord.
All-in-all, I enjoyed dealing with John Eagle. They seemed to be fair and perfectly willing to do what they could to sell me the car.
Good luck to everyone else!

When I mentioned the possibility of future sales to people who follow the Edmunds and Odyclub boards, the sales manager said this was a one-time good deal. But he also said that he will continue to be price aggressive for those that want to make a deal. It’s a rather small dealer with probably less than 6-10 Odys in stock at any one time. Ours had been on the lot for nearly 60 days, which is probably why I received the deal I offered. If they have what you’re looking for, I recommend you give them a try. Tell them you saw my post on Edmunds, maybe they’ll send me a hat or something – but I doubt it!
I’ve been a long time lurker (since the early days of the Ody Future Models thread) and I want to say thanks to all of you who have contributed to this conversation. It’s definitely been an education in car buying. And a special thanks to “MartyB” for sharing his advice and experience with his purchase via private e-mail. If you haven’t picked your van up yet, you should definitely checkout the customer acceptance checklist by “alexmish” at Odyclub – very handy and thorough.
I know this is getting long, but I also wanted to pass on a few things I learned about buying here in the Atlanta area. It may apply to your situation too.
1. Don’t waste much of your time calling the local “moderate to high volume” dealers for good deals on Odys. They seem to be focused on high profit margin rather than high volume at the moment. Of course there’s nothing wrong with that if you can get it. One salesman even told me that many of the local dealers regularly “coordinate” their sales discounts so that no one is giving unacceptably large discounts. From my experience, that appears to be true. $500-1000 under MSRP seems to be the rule.
2. The small rural dealers with less inventory and an even smaller customer base are willing to deal. I think other buyers’ experiences on this board also support this assertion.
3. Tourings without RES/NAV don’t seem to be moving very well (at least around here). Everyone I spoke with had several to choose from – perhaps more than they wanted. Make them an offer and you may be surprised at what they will accept.
4. Search the forums for problems encountered by previous buyers (QA problems, wind noise, over-inflated tires, ABS recall, etc.). Obviously, your best chance to get these things addressed is prior to the deal signing. Once I negotiated the deal by phone, I sent the dealer a whole list of things to check out before I arrived to pick up the van - basically cut and pasted postings directly from the forums into a text file and e-mailed it to them. Made for an easy sell-off once I arrived.
Good luck with your purchase.

I'm checking your postings very carefully and glad to see you are still on the site. I did put my order in with Bedard on the last day they were honoring the $950 over invoice. I don't need delivery until March 29th at the latest, but I will feel a whole lot better once I hear that your transaction went smooth.
Keep us posted.
Thanks
Nice website who sells Honda Care waranty. Cheapest I ever found. We both paid $920 each for our 05 Odyssey's (EX-L/NAV/RES). $0 deductible.
I am a bit suspicious about the dealership offerring so cheap warranty and they say its backed by American Honda. Another point is that that they quote same price for all models of Odyssey's
Can anybody verify it. IF that's genuine, I would recommend everybody.
Good Luck.
Overall a good experience. The Internet manager was truly a nice guy and we love the van.
Regarding financing, they matched my costco rate, which my USAA would not do.
I found out that Florida insurance plans are not negotiable for extended care -- is this true. I suppose this is why curryhondacare excludes Florida residents.
Anyway, this forum has been extremely helpful especially on this negotiation -- I told them to go to the site and see that everyone else in the country was paying below MSRP except Florida. As if the hurricanes have not hosed us enough this year. Good luck!!!!!
I'd also recommend Selma Honda (3 hrs from Bay area)
Im looking for an EX-L van, San Leandro guy seems to be ready for the prices I quote. He was willing to match my price (for the models he would be getting in Jan). I have decided to wait till the holiday season to cash in on any deals..
Post more details on your experience
Now here's a question: say I inspect the car, find it acceptable and drive to my home in another state. If there's a problem with the car, can I bring it to a dealer close to my home or do I have to bring back to Bedard?
