1. Did you think the seats were comfortable? That was one of my concerns, they seemed kind of hard. I hadnt noticed this before but I did last night for the first time.
2. Do you know if there is much of a difference of the style of the base model 06 Mazda 6 versus the sport model. I love the sport but it seems like all of them are gone in my area. I think the front grill may be different. Just dont want to be disapointed that it doesnt look the same after I buy..
Thanks for your help!
Personally I think the sport looks much better. I don't care for the wing myself, but like everything else.
I think so. There really aren't many other differences between the sport and base model, besides the taillights. The changes in the side and rear sills aren't NEARLY as noticeable as the '03-'05 models. I've got an '04 V6 w/sport pkg. and my brother-in-law has a base '04, and they really look like two different cars parked next to each other. For the '06-'07 models, a wing would look good, and not out-of-place on a base model like the '03-'05 models
Also, what do you think about seat comfort. I am a little concerned w/that. Seats seemed kind of hard when I sat in them?
My '04 seats are stiff, but they are VERY comfortable after a few minutes, and are great after long trips. In fact, I just completed a 2 1/2 hr road trip, and I feel pretty good. For '06 and up, they enlarged the bottom cushion, and GREATLY improved the seat materials. I've briefly sat in a '06, and the seats felt better to me than my '04. They are definitely stiffer than the seats in the CamCords, but I prefer them compared to the sofa cushions in the Camry.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
It does include MAC Cash, so I would be refinancing through my bank in three months. This car is such a steal not only for its price/value/reliability, but its finesse as a true driver's car. Feels like a vault, but corners like it's on rails. One question though, does V6 require premium fuel?
The Mazda Club Chat is on tonight. The chat room opens at 8:45PM ET Hope to see YOU there! Check out the schedule
Thanks,

The part number is GRMS-8M-H12 (about $200 from a MAZDASPEED dealer).

Can anyone explain what difference the variable valve timing makes on the Mazda6's V6? It seems to me that the engine becomes more energetic above 4000 RPMs, but I haven't played with it enough to be sure.
Thanks,

than the rest of the planet, but we need a fun-driving car
that makes us feel that $3+ gallon is wee bit easier to swallow.
Edmunds Comparison
Just purchased a used 2006 Mazda 6s Grand Sport with about 28880 miles on it. Is there anything, either maitinance or routine care that I should have done right away? It is still under warranty but if there is anything I should have looked at that typically goes sour on it right around these miles let me know please
Latest rendering from a French mag. Obvious V6 would be the Duratec35 but rumors flying around state that the 6 will get the 280 HP Duratec37 that the CX-9 is supposedly getting for '08. The latter is definitely getting that motor in Canada for '08 at least.
Mine has been sipping 1qt per 1.5k since almost day one. Has not improved or worsened. So I am not worried about it.
Raspier? Maybe you need to add some Lubecontrol Fuel power FP-60 or FP3000. It certainly helps clean and run the engine a lot cleaner.
I'm doin ok. I took some time away from Edmunds but came back to have a little break every now and then from work.
How's your 6 holding up? Planning to trade it for an '09 next year?
It has no more or no less rattles than when it was brand new.
In fact my wife who drives a RX300 is so mad with Lexus that she is contemplating buying a Mazda, looking at my track record.
btw, it has been ages for me too since I have visited this forums. and when I do, who do I see posting.....YOU!
Mazda Awarded First Place in Auto Bild Magazine’s “Quality Report” for the Third Year Running
HIROSHIMA, Japan— Auto Bild, Germany’s largest car magazine, has ranked Mazda in first place in its highly respected “Quality Report” for 2007, which was published on June 8. This was the third straight year that Mazda has been awarded first place in this annual report.
The build quality is absolutely not identical.
I can attest to this as I own a Hiroshima built Protege and a Flat Rock built Mazda6. :surprise:
While they are both silver, the resemblance ends there. The Protege has better build quality.
We do not share the same anecdotal experience chikoo.
Such as? I would certainly like to know about them.
