Call the number in the back of the Honda Warranty booklet.

I have a '98 Odyssey with 107K on it. Recently on cooler mornings (I'm in Houston, Tx, so "cooler" is relative) my brake light on the dash would come on when I first start the car, but it goes away after 5-10 minutes of driving. The brakes don't seem to be affected. Brake fluid level is fine. Any ideas?

I know that I'm reposting an old message, but this same problem that I recently experienced with our 03 Oddysey is bugging me because it doen't seem right and I want to see if other have had it happen on their Oddyssey. I've been working on cars for a long time and know the classic signs of a battery going dead. (eg. cold weather slow crank) This one died right after the van was just driven, shut off, and sat for 20 minutes on a 60 degree night. When we tried to start the car it made a solonoid clicking sound like the battery suddenly went dead. Tried the headlights and they looked dim. Ater a jump everything was OK. The next day I checked all the connection for high resistance and voltage drops, nothing. The Battery's green Eye showed and when I tested it by leeving the headlights on for 5 minutes, it started up fine. Whats up? I'm still not quite sure whats going on, but I'm going to stick a new battery in and hope for the best. I looked though various Honda boards on Edmunds and found that a lot of Pilot owners have had this same problem. My only guess is that some of the batteries may randomly get some type of internal connection failure, or not... :confuse:.

The ignition switch is a recall item. A letter was sent to owners in 2002. I am just now having this same problem, and I am going to take it to the dealer tomorrow. Go to Honda.com to check for info. I also have a 99 Odyssey.

I have an 03 Odyssey with 78,000 and just had a new transmission put in by the dealership for free. It wasn't a pleasant experience and the dealership I used was just not motivated to assist me. The service manager pretty much informed me that I needed a new transmission and then there was a pause. Thanks to this site, I had all the information I needed including the bulletin about the transmission problem. Otherwise I would have paid for the new transmission. They also put in a new computer and recoded my keys and did an alignment. When I picked up my car, he did not give me any paperwork and pretty much dismissed me. I persisted and finally got some paperwork from billing just stating what work was done. I felt uncomfortable going back and asking the service manager about the warranty on the new transmission but he told me that it is 3 years/36,000 and we have not experienced any trouble with the rebuilt transmissions. I am hoping for the best. I have to keep this car for at least another year. I do have another issue which is no fault of Hondas though. My car stereo system (I bought the one with the DVD player) shorted out one day. I took it in to Honda and they removed some coins from the CD player that my son must have fed into there. They told me it would be around $1,000 to replace. I have been to places like Circuit city to inquire about a new cd player/radio but when they looked at the car, they told me that there was no guarantee that the new cd player would work with the DVD player. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

first, if it were me, i'd call honda corporate and report that dealership's service manager by name. they should have some explaining to do with that completely unacceptable customer service.

second, re: the CD, look here for starters:

I have a 1997 Odyssey LX. The bulb on the dash behind the heater/AC fan speed lever has gone out. Does anyone know where I can find out how to replace the bulb.
