If they use a smaller diesel like the one in the Mercedes Sprinter with a good 5 speed auto. I would think it should do that easily. It amazes me with all the stuff on top as wind drag. That MB 5 cylinder diesel is great. No wonder UPS and Fedex are buying them by the thousands. Nothing in the world compares in a utility van.
Do you ever drive down in the Hill Country. We really enjoyed it. Put about 900 miles checking out all the little towns. Marble Falls & Fredericksburg were are favorites. Nice people everywhere we went.
me: you're kidding us right; you're not telling us you just learned that? Any for-profit, business tries to maximize its profits. If people were willing to pay $50K for a Camry, you bet Toyota would sell it for that much. If the supermarket down the street posts its hamburger for $10/Lb and people buy it, the supermarket will gladly accept it.
By the way, I don't see any change in the spread between the grades here in NH and northern Mass. 87 is about $2.89, 89 is $2.99, and 93 is $3.09 name brand. No-name 87 is $2.85 and 93 is $2.99.
I was being facetious with that comment, of course businesses try to maximize their profits, as they should.
Where I live, So. MD, the difference between regular and premium had consistently stayed at 15 cents for the last several years. Recently it has gone to 20-25 cents. I find that curious.
Amen brother
that clack the music to my ears.

If it drops to $2.79, that'll tie the record high I paid between Katrina and Rita. (Still trolling around on $2.69 gas in our 3 vehicles right now.)
Sorry, but I'm removing the off topic posts. Please go to Will our dependence on oil ever end? to expound your theories.
Oh yeah, on topic...local station in my area is at $2.84/regular unleaded.
I visited about a half dozen stations, including the ones that are always the cheapest, and the best I found was:
3.27 for regular 87
3.49 for premium 91
Thanks for that Sound Transit link, fin. I'll be popping in and reading from it little by little. A return to the Seattle area is always a possibility, though remote right now. Good to have the info., though. I guess Tim Eyman and all his initiatives couldn't kill the Sound Transit beast. Too many Puget Sound problems that had to be addressed, however expensive they are to tackle.
The neighborhood Phillips 666 had reg.unleaded for $2.59/gal still. We are still getting good ghastly prices here in Pocatello, ID.
2021 Kia Soul LX 6-speed stick
The fastest??? 15 over are pathetic 65 limit? Hmmm... I don't see that. Average maybe 70-75. Higher in other nearby states.
$2.74 yesterday was the best I saw in Portland. Was $2.79 by the time I drove by a couple hours later.
To stay on topic:
Filled up yesterday for $2.83 regular in Naperville, IL
Prices holding steady @ the $2.85 ~ $2.91 range for regular range in the area, $2.91 ~ $2.95 for regular near work.

I don't think I forgot, I mentioned it before that Tax could account up to 80% of the price paid.
>And a lot of these taxes are used to provide generous social services for the citizens
Well I think this money is not used the good way. it should rather finance infrastructures that would allow people to travel without gas (mass transit..)
>So do not complain.
Where did I complain? Putting 150USD in my tank is my choice and responsibility. I rather invite the US contributors to rethink their Gallon price is not that high.
In fact, I support this policy and think this would not be that bad for the US to have a high-tax Gas.
I just show the thread indicated by Karen so I am going there to discuss how to reduce US oil dependency.
Taking the big displacement tax out was a smart move, as most people with such a car do very miles in a year comparison to economical cars with 10X more done on the road.
Modern ECUs detect the lower octane number in cars which 'require' premium gas and edjust all the other engine parameteres accordingly. The end result i that the peak engine performance suffers. So intead of 200hp as advertized, you may end up getting 195 if you downgrade from premium to super, and maybe 190 if you downgrade all the way to regular.
But think about it, have you ever hit 200hp? And if you have, how often. Doing that would mean constantly driving the car at the redline, which I highly doubt ever happens. So net net, there are no repurcussions as such. The car doesntl suffer coz it knows how to adjust. Mine also required premium. I have downgraded to super as of last week (after a 3-yr steady premium run
On topic, I found a gas station here in Richmond VA which is about 15 miles outside the town (but slightly off my way to work) which has gas 15-20 cents cheaper than in town. Filled up for 2.79
But again, it is not too expensive, considering we are hooked on it.
GAs in oil producing countries are cheaper....local gas in Venezuela is only about 0.12 per gallon.
Gas in other countries like Japan and Korea and Taiwan have been close to the $3 to $4 range since 1991.
local gas prices here have reached $3.16 for 87, $3.39 for 91 prem.
$2.669-Shell along I70 W. Ohio
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Last Sept. I traded my Suburban in for a Honda Odyssey. Nicer to drive, just as comfortable to travel in and almost twice the gas mileage.
Typical price for regular was 2.83. Lowest price seen was 2.70.
No-name at the car wash: $2.81 for 87
Pure (and full-serve!): $2.82
Shell across the street: $2.84
Hess: $2.84
In parts of downtown San Francisco, gas was $330 yesterday (30 cents more than in much of the Bay Area). But at the first gas station when you get into the city, it was $3.57.
These days I am just happy for more than 48 hours with stable pricing! The fintail already got gas today (it had been like 2 months at least) and the C43 gets some later, so that'll be fun.
my mom lives in Vega and my Dad grew up in Delhart, are you from around there or transplant?
The old tests were using premium fuel, the new with 87 octane. No changes to the engine.
It's easily 10% in higher compression engines that you loose/gain even if it doesn't say premium fuel required.
(looks out window at gas station down the road)
Los Angeles
Regular:329/9
Mid-Grade:344/9
Premium:353/9
Eek. Don't tell me they aren't gouging. Los Angeles is home to the most cars and the largest port in the U.S. - Getting fuel here is ten times easier than someplace like Phoenix. Yet gas is way higher here.
interesting info-ad in the newspaper today.

Gasoline prices are in their prospective order.
If many people are driving in these huge trucks with $3.00 + gal of gas prices, then what will they be driving if gas prices went down to a buck. A Mack truck?
Gas under $3.00 is cheap.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Gas here this afternoon was the same price it was this morning...yay
Diesel $2.99
So far on this trip Texas had the lowest prices. Highest price paid for diesel $2.99, lowest price $2.67. MB Sprinter has averaged 22.05 MPG for 2430 miles so far. About 360 miles to go.
