Either the diesel goes and goes and goes OR they have have fuel pump/injecter problems.
Unless you are going to put a million miles on the truck, in a short time, or haul heavy, heavy loads ALL THE TIME a diesel is not economical and they are REALLY exspensive to run. A gas engine is much more economical and will haul a heavy load, also.
Ya ya diesel sounds good and it seems to be the thing to buy now. But no one really talks about how much a diesel costs to run. I work in a dealership trust me they cost.
OH YA, GM is coming out with a new Isuzu diesel in a year or two. Which we hope will be much better. Should be Isuzu is will known and trusted for there diesels.
Probably won't buy another diesel. Your second paragraph in the above post sums it up very well.

more orders for '99s. (And my order didn't make it
in time). Anyone have any info about this? May
seems kind of early to close the model year books.
Things must be either real good or real bad at
chevy...
They won't let you into the black tie ball without your Chevy Bowtie!
Sierra turns into pumpkin at midnight!
I am interested in puchasing a used Chevy truck, extended with a 6,2 diesel. Can someone please advise me where i can find it for a fair price???

ooops i misunderstood. I to live in Oregon, I don't know of any real changes except the C/K trucks are being fased(sp) out. The silverado is what you will be getting from now on. Also the tahoe, Sub, etc.. will start to have that same look, as well with some more changes inside.
I belive the new crew cab trucks won't be around until late 2000. If even that soon. There is also a new diesel (Isuzu) to come out in 2000 sometime. From what I hear at the training center it should be a good motor. Based on a motor Isuzu currently runs. I do know Isuzu is very well respected among the diesel community. They are quieter an very dependable. All I really know.
BIG BLOCKS:
As many have heard the feds are going to crack down on SUV's and trucks emissions. I do not know the exact date but it is soon. My GUESS is GM did not do a big block because it will not pass the new laws. I have HEARD that the dodge v-10 will not be able to pass either. The ford v-10 I don't know if you look at the size it is not that big just alot of little squirrels. food for thought
I'm glad because the 4th door is an option for
the 2000 model. I'm told orders and pricing
info should be available 1st week in June.
I haven't seen an such option listed on Edmunds list of available option for that truck. The dealer has been real forth coming about what it is. I trying to figure out dealer cost but can't come up with this one. Anyone have a suggestion?
of the new 2500s in 4wd with the 6.0 L. There are too many options to easily sort out.
Any experience/suggestions for the 5 speed vs.
the new auto? Is the locking differential
worth the extra $245/$285?
I pull a horse trailer and do some off-road driving while hunting here in Montana.
Thanks for any advice!
If you compare the two axles side by side you will see that the 3/4 ton is a much larger axle.I wanted it for the towing. As for options if you get the LT chevy or SLT GMC you get most of them in the package.Just pick the axle ratio you want.I love this truck! Luckly I have not had any problems and the leather buckets are great.Alot of people say "leather in a truck?" but it sure helps keep dust down and kids spills don't hurt it.Good luck on you order.
Who should I contact for suggestions, ideas, help. I saw a mans Initials and name in this conference. Saw it before. hear he gets you rock bottom prices Really need suggestions and all will be taken seriously and considered.
Will appreciate and enjoy any responses.
I think Edmunds is "bible"
I think I am going to enjoy this function., Went to a couple dealers and have no problem talking to them or confronting them.
99 Silverado, LS 1500, 4x4, Reg Cab, Long-box, 5.3L, Pewter.
I'm just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me?
Thanks.

You, I and many others must be in the same boat. I have taken my 99 Sierra SLE 2wd long bed to the dealer three times now for the same thing. They have replaced the drive shaft, shimmed the rear of the transmission to correct the pinion angle and rebalanced the tires. They also told me that the rims run true and are not bent. Everything under 60 is fine, and everything over 70 is fine. Just don't cruise either side of 65 MPH (62 to 68 in my case). I get a serious shimmy like a bent rim or a seriously out of round or heavy spotted tire. I have taken the truck to other tire dealers in the area and they haven't done any better. All four of the Generals balanced out under 1 1/2 ounces and ran true with no apparent lateral or radial runout. I even changed the tires over to Michlin LTX M/S and they have done the same thing also (even though they did make an improvement in the front, however, it still shakes and vibrates in the rear). If ANYONE has an answer on how to correct this PLEASE post it to let us know how it was corrected so that we/I can print it out and show it to the dealer to see if they can do something about it. I really enjoy the truck otherwise and I would hate to give it up over this.
how was it remedied.
I have a 3 week old 5.3, 3 door that fills the description of your intended purchase with the exception of the Autotrack which I opted out of as I seldom use 4wd.
The truck was manufactured in Canada, the second one that I have purchased from this source and was made in May.
No squeaks, no rattles, no pinging, not anything to complain about. Averaging 18mpg for the first 600 miles. I live in rural Nebraska and have done little stop and start driving with this truck.
Hope this addresses your questions.
