Pricing, we'll know them about the same time everyone else does. Of course at the Detroit Auto Show there will probably be a base price announced, but as Toyota buyers should know by now, the base price doesn't relate too close to what actually shows up at the deaership.

I drive in the northeast much of the week, in sales management, and put on over 60,000 miles a year, hard driving, fast. My Sienna has 189,000 miles on it, and has NEVER had a single defect. I change the oil regularly, and have put only tires on, and one brake pad set, nothing else.
Can't WAIT to order a 2004 loaded!
P.S. As a working vehicle, over previous years, I have always driven large American station wagons, with the ability to carry passengers or cargo. In 1998 I switched to the Sienna (reluctantly) and now would have no other vehicle. I am a large guy, and comfort is important, but most of all reliability for work. A co-worker has a 2001 Odessey, and it has been in the shop for problems or recalled a dozen times!
Does the "disappearing" 3rd seat extend to the rear door when it is in its well? Or is there space between the well and rear door. The Odyssey's rear seat does extend to the rear door. This will make a huge difference for us due to my wife's wheelchair/scooter lift. The lift needs a support brace that bolts to the floor. An Odyssey-like seat gets in the way of the brace. Often, the brace has to be screwed into plastic in the Odyssey with disastrous results.
We are in need of a new van to replace our 1994 Mercury Village with 223,000 miles and an increasing number of problems. We hope to be able to wait for the new Sienna. Hopefully, it will work for us.
I am also hopeful that the new Sienna XLE (or equivalent) will be more luxurious. Out 2000 Sienna XLE is nice but lacks options such as a power passenger seat or even a glove box light. Our car stereo is really poor. I wish that Lexus, Mercedes, or BMW would make a true luxury minivan.

hope the '04 sienna raises the bar on minivans. unfortuantely, i could not hold off any longer on a minivan purchase with toyota not publishing a price list for their trim lines and options. As toyota's msrp usually are high and demand should be steep, i have no idea on pricing but can speculate that a nicely equipped van could not be had for less than a fully loaded '03 XLE msrp for some time. it appears that the '04 will have interior things that i find missing from the '03 odyssey ( 3rd row split, for example ). However, there are too many unknowns as far as the small things that make up a good experience inside, like more outlets, cell phone holder, etc. It seems the supply/demand crunch on Odyssey's is finally over and got a great internet deal, around 27k with destination, on a '03 odyssey EX-L from jay honda in ohio ( dennis jenkins ). With my Ford Windstar lease expiring and with so many unknowns on the '04 sienna, i was left no choice but to go with the '03 odyssey with its short comings, guessing that i saved many thousands on a closely related '04 sienna????? i will keep up with this thread and hope you all can wait to make your decisions. I just have to give toyota a big thumbs down for being so bloody secretive and to tell them it costs them potential buyers because i was not going to buy the current sienna line.
Keep in mind though that there are so many unknowledgable people that drive minivans that will likely not be using a source of information like Edmunds to learn that the Sienna will be new for 2004.
The Sienna will be shown in the Cobo center next January. It will meet and exceed all major expectation here on board. And now I start to understand why Toyota is so reluctant to put 3rd row seat into its two mid side SUVs and the RX.
Honda makes great Van, and it is going to make greater van in 04, The new 04 Sienna is aiming the 04 Odyssey, not the 03.
DCX will continue to make minivans (with great market share), it just won't make any $ out of them like it used to 5 years ago -- Because they are facing great competition from the Korean van makers.

That's why the LS400/430 is ranked number one, but Toyota is ranked about even with Honda--around number 5 or 6, but nothing comes even close to being as superb, luxurious, and reliable as a Lexus. If I had to pay $5,000 more for a Lexus "Sienna", I would get it instead of a Toyota. If Lexus doesn't jumb on this idea, perhaps Acura will beat them to it and come out with an Acura version of their Odyssey. Luxury is worth the money. I heard the Toyota GPS Navigation system is a lot better than the Honda GPS Navigation system. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? As of now, I am definitely waiting to see how the 2004 Sienna looks. One more thing. Many people view minivans as "Nerd Mobiles". If Lexus, Acura, and Mercedes were to have their badges on the minivans, maybe it would be cooler.

Yeah, well I'm sure it will look better in real pictures that haven't been chopped and the vehicle covered. Compare what the new RX330 looks like to how the Edmunds spy pic looks. It was a huge improvement.
Some people on this board have worried about not enough luxury being available, but I worry about the opposite: That Toyota will force too much luxury on me in order to get a feature I want, like AWD. Not that I have anything against luxury and nice features, but I just can't justify big bucks for what is intended to be utilitarian family transportation.
We desperately need to replace our Subaru Legacy because we need a bigger car(actually, at 135K miles it is still running great). I'm worried that between the difficulty of getting discounts on what will probably be a hot new model, and the possibility of being force fed options I don't want in order to get AWD, that the price tag of an AWD Sienna is going to be out of control.
No info about the pricing. but the top of the line XLE Limited can be equipped with AWD, All-3-row curtain side airbags, laser C-Control and 5 speed automatic. Not sure if Lexus will make Minivan, but even if it does, it can't be that much better than this. Also, because it has a longer base, it is made in Indiana.
I'm confused on the middle seats. How does one get to the third row? Do the middle seats flip forward (like an SUV)? If that's the case, I have to say I will be disappointed. Is that middle section of the second row (tray) removeable? If so, are there armrests for the two middle captain chairs? Do they middle seats slide, a la MPV? I wonder if they will be showing this car at the Washington Auto Show next week????
The pics looks good. So the slide by side function is probably not going to be offered i guess. I thought soemone mentioned that the centre seat could be folded and the others moved together. Dont see any tracks for that
I'd guess that the pictures are of a XLE judging by the leather interior. It seems they have done away with the two tone paint at least on this vehicle. The third row seat must not be up all the way, it looks like it's tilting forward somewhat and leaves the rearmost cargo area uneven. Apparently the passenger front seat back goes forward now too, not sure why. I'd love to see pics of the dash and the front console between the seats. One things for sure, no one can complain about a lack of cupholders!
Just wanted to say that's a nice looking van with practically everything you would need. If we weren't taking delivery of our ody next week, we might have changed our minds. But I'm sure a similarly equipped sienna would sell for about $3000 more than the honda during the initial 6-12 months. Plus I don't know if we can wait 3 more months for its release. We'll be happy with the honda though, I actually prefer it's boxy yet smooth look best amongst other minis. Good luck to you prospective sienna buyers. That definitely looks like the sienna headed for the U.S. It has the styling in line with current toyota offerings. My uncle was looking for a van, I think once he sees that, he'll be sold. The best thing about it is the 8 passenger seating. I wish more minivans offered that.
No one has really commented on the styling. I'm somewhat disappointed with the front styling of the van because it looks to bulgey. I was hoping for something more revolutionary for the back.
I think the only way to get to the back would be to use the SUV style of folding or pushing seats up. But IMO 8-seats are better than 7, and since it's a minivan, it's a legitimate 8-seater (unlike Expeditions and Tahoes).

I heard that the size will be very similar to the Odyssey's (able to fit 4x8 plywood). It does look like it is not as tall as an Odyssey though.
