I posted this under another 2009 Honda Pilot discussion...

My wife and I just test drove the 2009 Honda Pilot EXL 2WD and were really impressed with it. The invoice price is $33,595. MSRP is $34,230.

I went ahead and contacted every Honda Internet dept. in metro Atlanta to get drive out prices. Four places in which I actually spoke with a person gave me $36,800+. Carey Paul Honda gave me a price of $34,724.34 drive out price (tax, tag, title, lemon law included). I had to contact him again to be perfectly sure. Honda Carland was the next dealership I contacted and she thought that price was a rue to get us into the dealership. She contacted me within 10 minutes offering $34,499 drive out price. She is also verifying whether the .9% APR they are offering includes this vehicle. I am still contacting each of the Honda dealerships to see if they can beat it.

The tax is 6% in Gwinnett County GA.

Hard for me to believe the offer is for Navis, as the MSRP for '08 Navis is quite a bit higher than 34,840.

My dad and I each bought a Honda Pilot this past weekend.

    My dad's deal:
    2008 Honda Pilot EX-L, 2WD, auto
    $24,900 w/out TTL

    My deal:
    2008 Honda Pilot EX-L, 4WD, auto
    $26,219 w/out TTl

We bought these from Stockton Honda. Lodi Honda was also offering the same deal.

I can't open that page up (i'm having trouble with that dealer's links), but after I posted, I thought what the catch might be - that this might be the MSRP for the FWD version, and that appears to be the case.
  • kolbajenkolbajen Member Posts: 4
Sent emails out to all dealers in Austin, Tx and 100 mi surrounding areas.

MSRP is $35,830 and INVOICE is $32,498. No one seems willing to deal. One dealer is offering a lifetime warranty with purchase. Looks like drive out will be MSRP if I can't wait. No incentives or lower apr for financing.

I keep going back and looking at the '08 models, great deals right now. But the differences between the two years seems pretty great. We drove both on Saturday and the back seats have so much more room - feels more than 2inches. Just the luxury items are impressive.
  • kolbajenkolbajen Member Posts: 4
In Austin, Tx, there is no dealing so far. MSRP or nothing. We only have about six on each dealer lot to choose from.
  • donnieodonnieo Member Posts: 12
The price of 26,251 included dest but did not include tax, title etc. My out the door price was 29, 021.

Taxes here in Chicago are at 9.25%

Are you sure about the 24,500? That would be over 5,000 under invoice and a great price!
  • manypilotsmanypilots Member Posts: 25
As I've posted before, I purchased an '08, as the pricing on '08s was very favorable IMHO, and I knew that '09s would not be discounted to any great degree at least for the neaar future. How long '09 prices hold is anyone's guess, but I'd say you'll probably be seeing rebates sooner rather than later.
I knew I would have new car envy with the '09s, but I couldn't justify the price differential, even with all the new stuff on the '09 model. Plus, I don't really care for how the '09 looks.

A good example is the All New 08 Highlander ... now is $5,306 OFF MSRP for FWD BASE.

    MSRP 28,194
    OFF 5,306
    NOW 22,888

A month ago, I was with a friend, he bought HL LTD w/NAV, DVD MSRP: $42,250, priced down to $37,350... $4,900 OFF MSRP

It won't be long the All New 09 Pilot has to sell under MSRP.

If you want to deal 2009 EX-L, and in NJ, here what I saw at other site ...

    **************************************
    You don't need to wait!

I was testing the waters last week, and the offer I received from my current dealer was $800 off sticker. I decided to play the game, and I emailed 12 other dealers in a 100-mile radius.

    4 dealers didn't respond.

4 dealers said they are selling at MSRP - no discounts.

4 dealers offered discounts: $1,000, $800, $1,000 and $2,400 (Paul Miller Honda in Caldwell, NJ)

I took the $2,400 discount to my current dealer (Mahwah Honda in NJ, they were not anxious to make this deal for others) and asked him to match it. He matched it and 24 hours later, I drove off in my new '09 Pilot.

Completely unexpected, but I know a decent deal when I see one...

Sounds like Potamkin buy, not lease, pricing. Take the train to NJ and you'll save yourself $500-1,000. That is what I did. Open Road Honda, VIP Honda and Paul Miller Honda all seem pretty good. I bought at Planet Honda but would not recommend them. Of course, the challenge these days is inventory.

Looked at the 2009 Pilot today more out of curiosity than anything else. Dealer had 6 or so on the lot, EX and EX-L's w/RES. Guy said he recently sold a touring model and another EX-L recently. Not budging off MSRP at first but added "if you're serious I can ask the sales manager on what he can do."

2008-wise only down to 4 SE's. They had a EX-L with nav on their inventory on the internet but apparently that's 2 weeks old.

My wife didn't like the larger size and shape of the Pilot, and we need a new car sooner rather than later. For the mid-30's price it would cost, I'd rather have an MDX. Premium gas isn't that big a deal if you do the calculations.

Picked up a Touring 4wd w/res for $38,000 plus ttl. In Tampa this past Saturday. OTD $41,127 love it. We looked at the AWD CX9, but we went with the Pilot instead. I used to live in NJ and know a few of the folks at Mahwah Honda. Nice folks. :)
  • kolbajenkolbajen Member Posts: 4
Decided on an '08. I think I got a great deal. $30K OTL, TTL, taxes, fees included. 2.9 financing for 60 mos. White w/ Saddle, can't get that in an 09' and I really wanted that combo!
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
I just got a quote from local dealer here in S.Ca for Pilot EX-2WD.

    Price $26,329 plus tax and lic.{MSRP $30,380.00}.
If I pay cash or financing other than AHF there is $4500.00 Bonus Cash.
If I use AHF the rate are 0.9% for 36 mons. or 2.9% for 60 mons. and $2500 Bonus Cash.

So the final price will be $23,829 / $21,829 plus tax and lic.

    How is the deal?
  • marakeshmarakesh Member Posts: 5
I decided to got for the 2009 EXL 4WD. However, I need financing from somewhere else since Honda is not offering the 2.9% apr anymore, or at least not for the 09's.

I am thinking they should do something soon to move these new suv's, either a rebate or good apr. But Honda seems to be taking their time as if the gas prices are gonna be going down soon. Edmunds has not listed the 09's yet. Go figure!!
I would appreciate any input, suggestions or advice on where to get the money.

I have excellent credit and would be puting a nice chunk of cash down.

    Terry, :shades:

Thanks for all the helpful postings!

Decided to get one while our color of choice is still available at a local SE Pa dealership. The purchase price of a new silver 08 Pilot SE was $27350 with 0.9% 36 month financing + $165.95 (title & doc) + tax.
  • wrobakwrobak Member Posts: 6
The deal sounds pretty good to me. I have a month-old quote from an LA-area dealer for 24,042 on a 2008 EX-2WD (including destination charge). I noticed Carsdirect.com dropped their price on the same model to 23,142 this week -- the dealer I was talking to seemed to be willing to match the Carsdirect price. So you quote seemed good to me.
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
Assuming thar I go with AHF, the price = $23,829, the destination charge is $635, total will be $24,464, so I think your deal bit better.

If they can match cardirect, the price is $23,142 (including destination charge), then they might get a deal :)
  • ohresohres Member Posts: 46
It is a 4WD & the $27350 includes the destination charge.

In March I bought my wife a 2008 EL-L with Nav (plus $1,000) towing package for $28,000 plus tax. Based on what I'm seeing on this thread, it appears to be a very good deal. Bought it at Planet Honda in Union, NJ
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
Though now is only June 08, more pressure buildup on moving out 08 models as soon as 09 models are present on the lot.

All the 09's are placed on the most supreme spot. That will draw 08 model buyers to test 09 and may end up drive the 09 off the lot instead.
  • renew2renew2 Member Posts: 23
I am in the market for and 09 Pilot EX-L with RES. No one in Houston area willing to deal. It seems that the 09 Pilots are not selling that well yet.... Crude futures up almost $6 and gasoline up nearly .14 cents today. I imagine the dealers will start to come down... seems like you would be crazy to pay MSRP for a Honda. Please post if you know of any dealers coming off MSRP in Houston area.
  • kolbajenkolbajen Member Posts: 4
My experience in Austin the last two weeks has been the following:

Not many 09's on the lots.
Waiting lists and deposits required to secure the one you want that will have to be "ordered."
Nothing less than MSRP, no incentives, etc.

People that want them are going dealership to dealership trying to find the one they want. Either will take what they do have on the lot or be put on a list.

I was in one showroom on Saturday last week and people were crawling over themselves to get the one on the showroom floor.

They are stocking heavier on the Touring models.

The 09 sticker made me sick to my stomach. The knowledge that when the 09s do fully drop on the lots and there will be more choices and more negotions after I paid full MSRP, made me really sick to my stomach.

I picked up an 08. I'm thrilled with my 08'. Off the lot in a EXL RES 2WD w/ 8 year/120K ext warranty, TTL included - under $30K. And I got the exact color combo I wanted with no wait.

does anyone know what the dealer cash incentive is on the 2008? is it $3500 or $4500 and are there any teaser rates from honda finance that go with the dealer cash? i'm at the end of negotiating a contract for a 2008 pilot ex awd for $24,516 (includes destination but not tax & license fees) but it seems to be a little too easy and i'm wondering if the incentives didn't go up? anyone know?
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
You're right, I checked and it included des. charge. Tried them to match the carsdirect $23,142 but no go

Took a test drive yesterday in an EX. The dealer had a demo EX, two or three other EX's & a touring model. Salesman said they had sold four '09 Pilots since delivery on 5/22. No LX's were anywhere in this area. Colors available were two grey, maroon & two silver. Best offer I could obtain was $31,244 @ 5% with 0% down for an EX listed at $32,630.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207

Would like to know what what I would receive in the appearance package that I have been offered by a dealer for the 08 Pilot EXLW/Nav. the charge for this is $598.00 Thanks.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
It's the dealer's way to charge an outrageous price for $10 worth of pin-striping, $35 rear splash guards, and $35 wheel locks, or some other combination of low value items sealant, fabric protection.

Different things you get on appearance package, so it is better ask them to have a breakdown for you.

    Bought an 2009 Pilot.

    Price Paid
    EX-L w/ RES and running boards(lighted ones).
$33,387.50 plus TTL... drive out was $35,423.50
Very impressed with the car and is much bigger than 2008. We need the space as we carpool and have a big family.
  • vodka1vodka1 Member Posts: 4
    Where did you purchase it?
I am shopping for an EX-L in west coast
  • renew2renew2 Member Posts: 23
Baytown Honda in the Houston, TX area. They were the only dealership within 250 miles willing to come off MSRP.
  • jayemgeejayemgee Member Posts: 9
Just an update for those interested...

    Mocha Metallic 2009 Honda Pilot EX-L 2WD

Current drive out price offer: $33,899. We did not accept this and told them $33,600. Ed Voyles Honda.

Another dealership that has our second choice of a Dark Cherry offered us $33,600. Honda Carland.

Does anyone have anything better or any comments? I've been advised to go lower than this.

renew2, what was the MSRP on it?

    thx
  • abosabos Member Posts: 1
The 08's, at least in my area (North East) are going fast. Actually only one dealer had them in stock. The $24,464 is a very good price for that car. I just paid 23,988 with 3 days of hard negotiating on the phone and 3 visits to the dealer. One very large dealer, whos ad I was using for Negotiating didn't have any of the cars on hand, sold out. I bought 2008 EXL 2WD and love it. Try to get the price I got. One thing to note, I was also limited to 2 colors. If it is the color you want go for it since they are going fast.
  • renew2renew2 Member Posts: 23
The MSRP including the destination charge was $35,830... destination was $625.
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
abos, your is EXL? my price is for EX.
Anyway, we went to dealer and got the deal for EX-2WD for less than 22k + TTL but they didn't have the color my wife wanted, the saleman asked for few days but no luck and I can't change her mind :(
  • nikbertnikbert Member Posts: 20
That's pretty good bargain - cut of more than 2k!!
I'm in houston too and am in mkt for a '09 pilot. Am looking at Touring.

Did you look at & compare EX-L & Touring?

    Thanks!
  • renew2renew2 Member Posts: 23
No I did not go for the touring... I have small kids who will do their share of wear and tear on the vehicle. I think 37-38 plus TTL is fair for a touring.
  • acadacad Member Posts: 3
have a price quote for $30,478.00 OTD for an 08 Pilot EX-L W/Nav. Is this a good deal.
    Thanks
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
I think your quote is about $1200 below invoice. Tried to negociate more. Most deal now for 2008 below $3000 or more.

If it is includes TTL then it's ok

Just got 08 SE $23,500 + TTL silver. Invoice is about $29,250
  • mc4nammc4nam Member Posts: 60
I assume it was FWD which is what I am looking for. What dealership and what part of the Country Ryan?
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
    I got a internet quote:

You're right. It is SE 2WD. The quote was $23,500 (non refinance with Honda) and $24,500 (2.9% with Honda). So depends on your credit you can calculate to get the lowest payments you can go.

It is in So. Cal in Loma Linda (Spreen Honda).
My kids really love the DVD, no more whining for the long trip. The dad is happy :)

Edit: The prices above are already included the destination charge.
  • acadacad Member Posts: 3
the 08 Pilot EX-L W/Nav. is a 4WD with the appearance package. $30,478.00 offer is out the door inclusive of everything. Is there more room for negotiating.
  • ryan14ryan14 Member Posts: 15
Assuming one has to pay tax in one's state (let's say Ca). This is I estimate in your price:

The invoice for EX-L AWD/Nav is $32,911 (include des. charge)
    $5000 les than invice = $27,911
    8% tax = $2,233
    Fee + License = $280
Total ~ $30,424 is prety much close to your number which is $30,478.

If you can go finance with Honda 2.9%, I think you have a good deal
