    VP = Value Package
Honda added $800 options (no charge) to the LX / base trim to call it VP trim
like matched body color outside mirrors and door handles
like speakers upgrade to 7 speakers, 2 tweeters, 1 sub-woofer, 4 mid-range door speakers with XM Radio

What kind of gas mileage are you getting on your 09 Pilot? I am getting better than the suburban I used to own, but not nearly what I thought with the new pilot.

$23,300 for Honda Pilot 2008 4WD VP (value package)

I added towing package with all season mats and cargo tray, and the final price dealer agreed is $24,000.

    Are these good deal?

I've filled up twice since I bought the car and have been averaging about 18-18.5 mpg combined..which is right at Honda's numbers. I do a mix of hwy and city driving every day. Each time I've filled up, it's been about 19 gallons. in my old car (99 4 runner) i'd be filling up about every 6 days (due to a small 15 gallon tank), so with the pilot i can stretch that out a few days more..the vcm does help a little, but it isn't overwhelming.

Working on a new cash purchase for 2009 EXL 4WD. Agreed to all cash at $32K plus tax and tags ($200) tag fee.
Group1com dealer told me they just got a fax offering 1.9% financing.
  • mplshondadlrmplshondadlr Member Posts: 409
Yep. Starting today Honda is offering either 1.9% (24-36 months) or 3.9% (37-60 months) on all new 2008/2009 Honda Pilots. This APR special runs to 09/02/2008.
  • rasu57rasu57 Member Posts: 14
32K seems to be a very good offer.. which dealer? I live in Northeast. Any dealer in tristate area offer Pilot EXL with RES for $34,000(incl. destination charges) or less?

Does anyone know that Costco offer a good price or not?
  • mplshondadlrmplshondadlr Member Posts: 409
Costco prices are set at the dealership, not Costco. So each Costco certified dealer may vastly different pricing, even in one market area.

Group1Auto.com is a NYSE listed firm with many dealerships. I worked with one in southern NJ to get my 09 Pilot EXL AWD (without RES) at 32K plus tax and tags. Maybe go to Group1Auto.com for a list of dealerships and try to work the same deal at a dealer close to you. I am not related to Group1Auto but since they made my deal so easy I am recommending them here. All I did was contact the internet specialist at the dealer. Made my below invoice offer with a color specified and a short term cash date. To my surprise I got a call back to tell me the purchase order was being emailed to me by the sales manager.

My hubby thinks the interest rates will stay low or go down even further for the 09 Touring Pilot. Any thoughts? I am ready to buy this car and yet I want a good deal. We have been waiting for the price to get down to invoice. I would love 0% interest like a friend of mine got on his new Toyota Tundra. Now that is a deal. Thanks for any info.

Does anyone have information on purchasing a demo car? I just a quote for 2008 Pilot EX-L with NAV for $27,500. But it's a demo car with almost 6k of miles. Any thoughts about this? Thanks.
  • mplshondadlrmplshondadlr Member Posts: 409
Honda has never offered 0%. However, as I noted before Honda is offering your choice of 1.9% (24-36 months) or 3.9% (37-60 months).
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
At least take $1,200.00 off the 6K mileage ($0.20 x 6,000). That is what Honda Finance charge on excess for car MSRP +$30,000
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
    It was only for 08 model : 0.9%, 2.9%
    Now seems 1.9%, 3.9% are for BOTH 08 & 09 model good til 9/30

    (correct me if I'm wrong)
  • mplshondadlrmplshondadlr Member Posts: 409
    "Now seems 1.9%, 3.9% are for BOTH 08 & 09 model good til 9/30"

You're 75% correct. The APR special expires 09/02/2008.

Bali Blue Pearl with Blue interior at Boardwalk Honda, Atlantic City, NJ. Paid $32,000.00 Plus tax and title ($195 doc fee). Got 1.9% finance on entire purchase price.

Very pleasant experience. And I think I got a great deal.

i went in today to get one but they do not have what i want (Biege interior), they want to swap from an out os state dealer and that would add 70miles to the delivery mileage. Do you think this good. I wanted the car to be put in a truck and delivered to the dealership but they wont. Is this the way it is normally done.Pls your opinion will be most appreciated. Did you install the fenderwell trim,i herad they are not available

I want to respect the managment of this forum by not including names.
I purchased a new Honda Pilot from Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale. The price was good but the negotiation was not pleasant.
They have two good sales guys but with one bad sales manager.
I was very disappointed with the way the sales manager was communicating with the sales guys during our negotiation. The sales guys were moving back and forth between the open cube where the sales manager sat and the showroom where I was sitting to pass messages between the sales manager and me. To my stunning surprise the sales manager was yelling and shouting his comments about my deal to the sales guys from the open cube and I could hear most of his out of line speech. He stepped out of the cube couple of times and saw me in the showroom but went back to the cube and continued his loud mouth action, negative speech and bad demeanor. That was totally inappropriate and I felt disrespected and almost wanted to terminate the negotiation and get out of the dealership if it wasn't for the good manners of the sales guys.
Is it bad character or dirty tactics from the sales manager? Either way it is very bad for business.
It is not enough to have good sales people because having a manager whom has bad character and uses dirty tactics to intimidate and disturb potential buyers is dreadful.
I suggested to the top management at Larry Hopkins that the sales manager should be reprimanded; he is a bad apple among good group of sales people working at the dealership.

What is the difference between Honda Pilot 2008 VP and EX-L with RES? I am looking to buy Honda pilot 2008 with Leather seat, 4WD, Entertainment system. Do I get these in VP or just in EX-L with res? What is added or missing in VP? Which one is new in 2008, VP or EX-L ? I tried googling, but unable to find the answer for these questions. Thanks for all your post. It is very helpful in the process of buying.
  • bigdadi118bigdadi118 Member Posts: 1,207
VP (value package) = Base Model (LX) + $800 free add-ons ... you need EXL w/RES

The Value Package adds rear privacy glass, machined alloy wheels, XM® Satellite Radio, upgraded audio including a 6-disc CD changer with three additional speakers (including a subwoofer), steering-wheel mounted audio controls, roof rails, and body-colored door mirrors, door handles and rear spoiler.

If that is the exact car you want and the price is right, 70 miles is nothing. I will get it.
  • rasu57rasu57 Member Posts: 14
I sent a quote to dealers within 100 miles from where I live(north east, NY,NJ & PA)for 2008 Pilot EX-L with RES, to my surprise most of the dealers(almost all) replied back saying they don't have anymore 2008 and 2009 EXL-RES model OTD will be close to $43,000. Any thoughts? Anyone purchased 2008 EX-L with RES recently?

    Thanks
  • jc9394jc9394 Member Posts: 39
Boch Honda in MA have couple 2008 SE.

2009 EXL-RES model OTD will be close to $43,000

That is crazy, I purchased a 2009 Touring with RES for a less than that unless your state tax is 20%.
  • ritcarritcar Member Posts: 3
I've had the same problem. Looking for the 2008 EX-L (no NAV or RES), and all dealers I've contacted have said they are all sold out. I live in the tri state area as well. Have you had any get back to you that have it w/o nav or res? I'm still looking, but beginning to be a lost cause.
  • rasu57rasu57 Member Posts: 14
I received few quotes, just $500 less than 2009 model. I am looking for EXL with RES, it is too tough to find with this config. I am sending quote request to all dealers within 100 miles in and around my area. Btw, I am trying to sell my 2004 car outside. Trade in value is very low, so dont want to trade in to dealer. I will let you know, if I receive any impressive quote, and please do let me know if you receive any good quote. Thanks

I'm looking into purchasing a new pilot touring model with Nav. in MA. What should I be paying in total OTD price? Are there any deals out there even though this is a new model? I have only seen one on the road. I have 3 kids and usually have a few extra's to shlep around so I need the 8 passenger or believe me I would be purchasing something else. I don't want to lease and I will not be trading in any vehicles. Thank you

PULL THE TRIGGER and tell them reserve one for me too. Dealer name?
  • fred25fred25 Member Posts: 92
The Pilot EX-L 4WD without RES or NAV is still a bit to high. Please keep in mind that this vehicle is still a new item for HONDA and they are expecting to keep the price close to the MSRP. If you can wait prices WILL come down. According to the sales figures for july 2008 the pilot sales are down negative 47.4% (American Honda Sales Figures). Last year Honda sold 13,136 Pilots to this years 7,486 for July. At present there are No incentives for a reduction in the invoiced price. What this means is HONDA is just not selling the Pilots as much as they anticipated.

As of last week, they added new loan incentive, 1.9, 2.9 and 3.9 % loans. You don;t see them on the road because there are plenty of 09 Pilot in all Honda dealer, not many people are buying with the gas price. 09 Pilot is no longer new. They are advertising like crazy with billboards, magazine and tv commercials to sell this suv. The sale number you are seeing is for mostly 2008 and cars like civi, accord, crv, etc and not solely the Pilot and definitely not 09 Pilot. In NY, P.S. Honda is willing to sell a 09 Pilot EX-L/RES for $300/400 over invoice. Car in this size is not selling, and if you wait a bit, the rebates is going to come out. First it was the LX lease, then finance 1.9, 2.9 and 3.9, soon $500, $1000 and $1500 cash back...... It will come, just be patient........ I'm also looking for a 09 EX-L/RES, but not willing to pay $35000.....

Greetings- I live In Alabama and have been looking around for a new Pilot. I am also(like everyone) waiting on the prices to come down a little more. I received an email from a local dealer- 2009 Pilot EXL with remote starter and backseat cover- 34,700. From what I have read and researched- this seems high? They also have one on the lot right now- 2009 pilot EXL 4x4- 31,065. What could be the difference? Any thoughts? I currently have a Honda Accord - I will probably sell outright and not trade. I do not have to have this car anytime soon- I really want it!
  • patyoungscpatyoungsc Member Posts: 4
I went to the local dealer (SC) and they said they could do $1,000 over invoice - or 35,606 + tax/fees of 652. That's about 1,859 off of the MSRP. That seems like an OK deal to me. Have people been seeing better deals than this?
  • jc9394jc9394 Member Posts: 39
Keep searching, I got an 09 Touring with RES 4WD for less than that.
  • p1cfl01p1cfl01 Member Posts: 14
See my psot, it's not selling like a hotcake, there are plenty but they don't want to go invoice yet, but they will very soon...

In NY, P.S. Honda is willing to sell a 09 Pilot EX-L/RES for $300/400 over invoice.

Been in the business before. This is a sale tactic to make you feel bad for the salesman and give them the deal for the price they want. Bottomline is, they don't giv things away, all of them, manager or salesperson all have to make money. I've done this throughout my carreer back in the early 90's.
  • poodog13poodog13 Member Posts: 320
Of course you did, no NAV!
  • jc9394jc9394 Member Posts: 39
I don't think you can get a Touring with out NAV!!! If you can find out, please tell me as one of my friend want a Touring package but he don't want a NAV.

Just bought 2009 Pilot 4WD EX-L with RES for $33,779 at Schlossman's Honda City in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. $470 over invoice. This is the second Pilot for me. I have a 2004 Pilot EX-L. Looked at GMC Acadia and Toyota Highlander. I chose the Pilot for primarily 2 reasons.....1. Outstanding Honda reliability (have never had a problem with my 04 Pilot). 2. I have 3 kids and can put 3 cars seats all in the second row, now that the new Pilot has 3 LATCH systems in second row.

Purchase experience was smooth and seamless. Did the deal completely online with the dealership's internet salesman/coordinator. Went to dealership 2 days later and picked up the vehicle. Signed the paperwork. Drove vehicle off the lot. No shady or high pressure tactics.

For those of you out there willing to wait a little longer, prices should come down even more. $470 over invoice not bad but I bet by end of year, you can get the Pilot for less than invoice. So far, very happy with the new Pilot.

Any info on actual 2009 Pilot Touring AWD selling prices near St. Louis, MO? I have seen some pretty low selling prices, but not near St. Louis.
  • wcapemaywcapemay Member Posts: 4
I'm getting calls from all my dealers announcing incentives. Cash Back Incentives. $2000.00 cash back. I'm wish I hadn't purchased my EXL AMD 2009 Pilot last week at 32K. Avalon Honda (southern NJ) just emailed me a price of $29,900.00. Oh well

Hello all. I just got an OK on a black 2009 Touring with RES, and 4WD, for $36,900 including destination (invoice basically).

Is now a reasonable time? Will there be a fire sale for Labor day? I'm located in Los Angeles.

    Thank you!

This whole blogging thing is new to me, but I felt obligated to post my experience based on the information I had read here. I live in Orange County, CA. The best I could find was $300-$500 over invoice. After reading this blog, I emailed Spreen Honda in Loma Linda, CA and was quoted $29,215. When I ran this past the local dealers they all told me it was a scam, they will load accessories on it, they sent me a two page questionnaire to send to them, etc. To make a long story short, we made the one hour drive out to god forsaken Loma Linda. The price quoted was the price paid. There was no hard selling, it took longer to detail the car then to do the paper work. Out the door for $31,881. Hope this helps. :)

Some of you may remember a few pages back I was looking at a 2009 Honda Pilot EX 4WD and tried to get dealers in my area (Long Island, NY) to get me in at $28,500 including destination. It never happened, and I had a change of heart and stepped up the model. After much internet correspondence with one dealer in my area, today I signed the deal on a 2009 Honda Pilot EX-L w/ RES 4WD for $31,895 including destination.(after them deciding to price match in Boston) The only catch was I had to by what was on the lot, so the colors we originally wanted (Sterling Silver w/ Black Interior) quickly changed to Black w/ Grey interior. I am pleased and I know I got a great deal (thanks to all the posts on this site), w/ a hassle free experience. Picking up the car on Monday. More to follow.

Don't believe those salesmen they wont aknowledge that you get good information on the net. I just bought a Touring 4WD RES/NAV for 35865+tax and 3.9% honda financing. I got all my information from this board and will recommend it anytime. Dont give up and get informed before approaching those hagglers.
