Just purchased Amazon Green EXL AWD with Nav for 32,600. Includes splash guard, wheel locks and crossbars. Dont want the cross bars but dealer wouldn't take them off and no one around has one in stock.
I have a 04 Pilot EXL-RES with 70,000 miles. I have never had one problem. No Honda dealer has ever touched my Pilot(just like my 00 Maxima) and I have basically changed fluids, brakes and tires, etc. There is no reason to spend that money on a warranty. I'll tell you what, since the warranty is only an insurance policy, send me the money and I will send you a signed contract/warranty policy backing your Honda for 100,000 miles. That's about what that thing is worth IMO.
Thanks for the information, Sunil. I will contact that dealership as well because I'm interested in the same exact Pilot you got. However, what are the "CA standard fees' you mentioned. I'm aware of the doc tire, tax, and license (registration) fees. Let me know if you get the nav working, because I'm not up to all the techno. features.
For those of you in San Diego and are a member of the San Diego Credit Union. Contact their sales and auto leasing department. They can get you a really good deal. Best part is you don't even have to visit a dealership.
All it is is peace of mind, no different than Dental Insurance, Life Ins. or even Health care. But if your DVD system has any problems, for example, it will cost 1K at least. For $20/month added to my monthly payemnt I'd rather have peace of mind. Good luck.
I just got a quote from my local dealer for the SUV without RES and NAVI. Out the door price is $28,004 ($26,300 for the car). By the way, Honda is providing 4.99% car loan on new cars. Is this price a good one? All other dealers' internet quotes are above $27,500. I am in the Maryland.
What would be an excellent price on a '06 2WD EX Pilot? I currently have a '98 Accord EX-L with 121,000 miles and it has served me well. We have a '03 Ody EX-L with 45,000 miles that runs like the day we bought it. I am struggling between another Accord versus the Pilot. I test drove a Pilot today and really liked it. They had several on the lot - I like the black with tan interior. Someone recently posted a price of $26,300 (+TTT) for this same vehicle which I find hard to believe.
I am in the Memphis area - any info would be appreciated.
Since this board has been so helpful to me I thought I would share my deal. INFORMATION IS POWER!! I just purchased an EX 2WD today at AutoPark Honda in Cary, NC. I solicited quotes from 4 dealerships and 1 from State Employees Credit Union (SECU). AutoPark had the best deal.
AutoPark Honda: $26,435 (not including fees or TT&L)
They offered the CNA National Warranty at $1,475 for 7year/100k mi/$0 ded. I checked online at Hondawarrantyinfo dot com and they quoted me (on the same deal) $1,106 for Honda Care (not CNA). I plan on calling them back next week to see if they will match it.
Thanks. I paid $550 Destination and $398 Doc fee, leaving me with $55 title transfer and 3% tax for an Out The Door price of: $28,248.
I noticed you are from TN. If you don't mind driving to Atlanta, Curry Honda (www.curryhonda-ga.com) quoted me $26,662 on a 2006 EX 2WD (includes Dest Fee and Doc Fee).
Thanks for everyone for all of their info on this list (and on other lists/forums.)
I just picked up a new 2006 Pilot EXL AWD Withn Navi in MA for just over 32k. This included a 5/50k warranty, 2year all maint costs, and a great trade in price that no one else could touch. The cost was about 200 over invoice, but with the added warranty and maint, and the 4.9% it was a good deal.
Atlanta would not be too far for me to go (I have a brother there who could go investigate for me). We usually make at least one trip there in the summer. I will probably wait until summer to buy when our '03 Ody is paid for.
Can anyone tell me if this a good deal in New England (CT) area?
2006 AWD w/ NAVI $31,400 Base Price $550 Destination Charge $1917 Tax $165 New Title $269 Dealer Fee $34,300 TOTAL OUT THE DOOR PRICE also, 4.9% Financing for 5 years!!!
I would say that is a good deal. We paid about 200 more for ours (including dest). This did include 2 years free maint, 4.9%, and 5/50k mile extended warranty.
I just purchased a 2006 Pilot EX-L 2WD with RES (DVD Entertainment system). No navigation. Bought it out here in San Diego CA. I was able to get the sales person to include the "chrome" running board installed along with the upgraded alarm and also 5 year leather treatment (stains on leather). Also included were the wheel locks, all weather interior mats, cargo tray, wheel & door guards, and mud guards in the front and back. I purchsed the Pilot for $31750 plus tax & licenses with a 3.9% apr for 60 months.
I got a quote of $32,257 for 06 Pilot EXL with Nav from Mike Pruitt Honda of Akron, OH. I was getting a quote for a friend who was interested in this model. I'm sure he will be willing to go below invoice. I just purchased an Odyssey from him for about $900 below invoice (EXL with Nav/RES). Shipping was $300 from Ohio to Northern Virginia.
I have 3100 miles on my 06 (AWD EXL w/RES) and noticed that my digital oil meter is at 50% (when I checked via the reset button). First schedule maintenance oil change is at 3750 miles. Is the 50% consumption high for 3100 miles or is this normal.
That sounds like a good deal to me. We are in the process of negotiating now. We are looking for a EXL, which I believe comes with Sunroof, leather, Navi w/backup camera. We could only get them to go to 31,900 that is before tax, tag, title, and fees. How did you do it back and forth or straight out with what you were willing to pay. I read on line some buyers are getting extended warranty and 2 yrs maintenance. How they did it is beyond me? How do you like the car??
Hi Powderboy, Did you buy your Honda yet?? We live in Central Florida too and have just started looking at the 06 Pilot EXL 2wd w/Navi best price so far was $33,989. out the door. We also spoke to the credit union. Any help we can get in out the door prices will help. Great web site. Very informative. Kay
That is a good deal as well...The deal we got last week (in MA) was for ~200 more than that, but the dealer extended the warranty to 5/50k and gives in house 2yr all service. I could not find any other dealer around that did this. This dealer is also haggle free, which made things nice.
The vehicle is very nice; drives great, navi is a nice feature (actually like the placement better than the MDX).
HTH, We just got back from the dealership when we totaled everything up the door price including dealers,TTT, is $34,740. We have till tomorrow morning to decide and pick it up in the evening. Can you or anyone tell me if that is a good price or not? It also includes wheel locks, cross bars for the roof rack, mud guards, and running boards.
I am in the market to buy a family SUV. Pilot and Highlander is on my final list. I see that Pilot has won many awards on numerous resources(Car and Drive, Auto Trend, etc..) which more than Highlander. I have kept reading all the posts here and in the Owner's problems board, and corresponding Highlander's boards. I noticed that owners of Pilot have much more quality issues than those of Highlander. For e.g. Pilot has bad steer wheel vibration problems for years, I haven't seen this in Highlander. Also Pilot has many other issues (water leak, etc.) which are not even heard by Highlander. Go to auto.yahoo.com and read those customer reviews for Pilot. Lot of them are negative. I understand there is no perfect car in the world but why honda allow Pilot to sell in the market with some fundamental issues. I like the roomy design of Pilot and more values you get for the same money for Highlander. But really want to ask the pond about the quality issues you face before pull the trigger to buy a 2006 Pilot.
Does that price include the 550 destination fee? Best good quote I have was 29,588 that includes the dest. fee. I have one for 29,493 but I am skeptical.
yes that includes destination. i basically did everything over the internet. went to cars.com got three bids from three of the four city dealers and then i asked Carr's if they could beat the lowest bid by $100 and he did.
We bought a Pilot. It was a EXL AWD 06 from Peter's Honda in Nashua, NH for $29,400 (including doc fee & destination; NOT including MA tax, inspection, title or registration). No NAV and no RES. They were great to deal with and we love the car. There is no vibration at 72 MPH and we have had it for about 4 days. They also gave us KBB trade in value for our trade in.
Well we finally did it. We broke down and bought a 2006 Pilot EX-L w/Navi, running boards, cross bars, wheel locks, and mud guards for $31,900, plus dealers fees, tax, tag, and title, OTD price was $34,740. I hope this helps others with their shopping. We think this was a good deal since we have shopped around and visited all the main pricing web sites. Has anyone seen or added wood grain to the dash?? If so we would like to hear your thoughts and recommendations. Our Pilot is silver (billet silver metallic) with grey leather interior. We love it!!! The Navi is the best we have seen in an original equipment system. After market we heard the Tom Tom is very good one.
I just left a deposit on a 06' EX AWD all plain. Didn't want the sunroof but all EX-L have sunroof with leather. Therefore just order it plain. Will pick it up next week. Price they give me was $27600+Dest.+Tax+title+Reg. From my previous experience on buying a car, I know I will get hit big time once I sit them with the finance manager. For the one that went thru this, can I tell them I don't want to buy any options and get the price or should I just purchase the rear splash guards or something. What do you guys think? I remember when I want to purchase a nissan back in 2002, sit down with the guy and he said, I can't sell you the car if you don't buy options. I got up and left.
I have one week to prepare, any help would be appreciated.
This is your vehicle, YOU decide what goes on it. And the fact they have one week to get it I would tell them tomorrow morning that you DO NOT WANT wheel locks and you DO NOT WANT mud guards.
Be very STERN in this, and tell them if they are on the car, you will want another vehicle. To be honest my last two Honda's I purchased, I made such a big stink over this that honestly it costs them more to take them off than to just leave them to you. So by holding my ground I was able to get these add ons for free.
Personally, I like the mudguards *shrugs*
NOW - VERY IMPORTANT. If you are financing this vehicle, got to your bank, your credit union, or check out www.bankrate.com or www.capitalone.com. All of these places have auto loans. Get yourself pre-approved and GET documentation that you have your financing in place.
Then when you sit with F&I fill out the credit application and see what interest rate they are able to get you - and make sure your term (ie 60 months) is the same. Then you sit down, compare rates and decide what is best.
Odds are F&I will start out high tell them to beat your rate or match it otherwise you are going with your own. Trust me, they would rather right your loan for no profit than not to right it, since they get credit for volume as well.
do you homework - a well informed buyer sets his price for the car and determines HIS payments. Don't let the dealer do it for you!
Thanks guys for your reply. I was looking at the extended warranty discussion and might be picking it up for another $1000 (honda care warranty) from another honda dealer ship and not get any other options. As for financing, I have a very high credit score. (Just check the free credit report) and hopefully that will give me a good deal on the rate. Like I said before, I hope they the rape me by forcing me buying the options. I am also trading in another vehicle that give me about $5000 credit (took a $3000 hit, because don't want to bother putting a forsale sign). I'll check on the autoloan companies as suggested to see what am I qualify for.
Thanks for the headsup on being stern and not taking any BS from the dealer. That is exactly what I intend to do. Now that I am reviewing my agreement, they already charge me $12 for Tire fee and $45 for "Dealer's Optional fee for processing application for registration and/or certificate of title" What is this? Can I refuse this $45 or should I just let it go?
I am also looking to buy Pilot and after I read your post, I checked auto.yahoo.com user reviews. The only review that got me thinking is the complaint about road noise. I'll find out when I test drive one today. If it drives good, I am going to buy it today or tomorrow, even though I am not impressed with the exterior look of the Pilot. I choose this mostly for the value for the money.
Believe of not, I'm driving it now. The dealer should make it up by my extended warranty purchase (7yr/80,000 miles, 0 deduction for $801). They didn't press me. This is soley my decision.

Does the $26,435 price include the Honda destination charge? How much did you pay in dealer fees (i.e. often called dealer doc prep charges).
Thanks.

I think you can do better. I bought my 06 EX AWD 2 weeks ago at MD for $27229 including Dest.
Good luck
Pardon my skepticism but dealers dont usually sell Pilots for a loss.
