I am in the market for a 330ci (comvertable).
    Dealer quoted me 50,800;
Titan silver, performance pkg, cold weather, BMW assist, auto trans, Xenon,
    Base price $44900 +options+695 shpg.
    Lease 39 mo, 12k/yr, 1270 at signing, 734+tax/mo

I asked what the money factor was = .00290, and a 61% residual. I thought that the resis was low and the monthly payment too high.
    Any help would be appreciated.

money factor is definitely marked up for a 6 year old body style......residual sounds right as bmw has one of the highest residuals in the market. you could do much better

Asked for quotes from P+W, Rahal & Sewickley BMW dealerships in Pittsburgh, PA. Paid $700 over edmund's dealer invoice + MACO/prep&mats (total of these = $444.15) on 06 330XI, 6 speed, premium, sport, heated seats from Rahal BMW in Pittsburgh PA (final deal = $40,305.15 plus tax/plate fee). Told my initial offer of $800 over invoice was "stupid" by salesman at P+W BMW (this from a salesman/dealership where I have bought 5 cars in 10 years-needless to say they won't see me again). Sewickley BMW, where I've also bought a number of cars in the past, was not very aggressive in pursuing deal (for instance they underbid initial Rahal counter-offer by only $4). Very happy with deal, especially with responsiveness of sales personnel at Rahal BMW.

    Hi,

Can you give more details for the price of $37374, for example did you get a) premium package+ cold weather package + satellite radio pre-wiring?
    Which dealer is it?

    Thanks.

P.S. I tried to get a get a deal for 330i for above package at open road bmw for 39500 (OTD) but was unsuccessful.

I am in the process of buying a 330xi with automatic transmission, cold weather package, premium package, satellite radio prep, and standard colors. I have heard back from a few dealers-both about $1500 over invoice. Good deal or can I do better in this part of the country? Also, how much pressure are they under to sell cars this time of the month and year.

Please pardon my ignorance - this is my first post, and I'm hoping that I've included all the pertinent information. I'm looking for some advice on what I should pay for the following spec w/ European Deliver in the DC area:

    2006 325i
    Premium Package
    Sport Package
    Steptronic
    Cold Weather Package
    Xenon Headlights
    Comfort Access

MSRP is $40,145 and Invoice is $36,825

As mentioned above, I plan to do Eurpean Delivery on this, so I'm thinking that the ED Invoice should be around $34248 (From what I understand, ED saves about 7%).

If anyone can tell me how much over invoice I should expect to pay, and any dealers in the DC area that are good to work with, I'd appreciate the help.
  • calif65gmcalif65gm Member Posts: 75
Go to bimmerfest.com, there's a whole forum on ED's and they have good recommendations for dealer's in the DC area.

    Lot of great info there.

BTW ED invoice on your specs is $35855 including the $695 destination charge. You didn't mention the color though. Add another $430 for metallic paint. $700-$1000 over invoice is a good price.
  • calif65gmcalif65gm Member Posts: 75
Sorry messed-up on the calculations. ED invoice is actually $34,245 not the $35K+ that I posted earlier.

    Dear mjbaut1,
I bought my 06 325i in July $1000 over invoice.

Hi all. I'm new to the BMW shopping scene, so I'll ask forgiveness in advance if some of this repeated questions. I've been looking at certified used 325i's in the Portland, OR area. One of the local dealerships has some pretty nice looking ones, but the prices seem a little high. I know that the resale on 325i's are supposed to be excellent, but with the 2006's being entirely redesigned, I would have figured the resale value would have been hurt a little.

Could someone take a few minutes to look at these offerings and tell me what a reasonable price might be? These prices seem to be atleast 3-5k off base.

    2005 325i 18k
This one list for the same price it would have cost new, according to edmunds (31-33k)

    2004 325i 12k
Looks like a nice low-mileage 2004 with alot of options. Price again seems high.

    2003 325i 21k
Seems like the best deal of the 3, but still seems a little high.

Thanks in advance for any help!
    Chris

The '05 new would have been about $32k, and they're selling for $32k. The '04 is much more loaded up with the premium pkg, sport pkg, leather, and would have been about $37k new, and selling for $32k. The '03 was about $34k new, and selling for $27k.

Remember to factor in the CPO warranty (6 years from original purchase date or 100k miles) as added value, especially considering the dealer paid BMW between $600-$1500 just to get the CPO status.

If you are planning on financing, consider the 2003 has 3.9% for up to 60 months through BMWFS. (No special rates for 04 or 05.)

Just giving you some food for thought...

    06 330xi

    premium
    steptronic
    cold weather
    sirius prep
    green metallic

    44070 MSRP
    40395 Invoice
    I offered 41000

Dealer responded e-mail - that is not unreasonable, which sounds like a sales tactic to me.

I think the 41 would be a great deal if I can get it, anybody doing any better than this...
  • bdr127bdr127 Member Posts: 950
If you can get $41k, that would be an incredible deal... $605 of profit on an in-demand 330xi is not common. Someone might bite, but I wouldn't bet my life one it. ;)

Dealer responded e-mail - that is not unreasonable, which sounds like a sales tactic to me.

What kind of "tactic" are you talking about?
  • guitarmakerguitarmaker Member Posts: 9
The price did not include a premium package. I did not want leather, I had it on my Audi A4 and could hardly tell the difference between the leatherette and the leather on the BMW. You can also read the leather Vs. L-ette forum, which was really helpful. The price included cold weather package, sports package, and jet black paint with manual transmission. I got that price from a few dealers in NJ. The price was $37225+ doc. I do not know if it is pre wired for satellite, I was not interested in that option. I probably could have gone a little lower if I had pressed but I got it from a good dealer and paid a bit more, hopefully it will pay off. I don't know if dealers can be named on this site???????????? 6-8 week delivery time....
  • mwhittmwhitt Member Posts: 69
nothing major, just get me to stop in, drive the car, love it and be willing to go up some.

didn't want to kill it with a no frigging way. let's just say he didn't say my offer was accepted.

exact words were the price you offered was not unreasonable, i think we may be able to work something out.

i went on their website, dealer down the street, went through their inventory and made an offer - above was the response. not so much a tactic - as the first response in let's make a deal. :)
  • calif65gmcalif65gm Member Posts: 75
I really didn't understand that e-mail reply. It's either yes or no. What's up with "your offer is not unreasonable." :confuse:
It sounds like they want to work a deal, but want you to come up a bit.
  • mwhittmwhitt Member Posts: 69
that is exactly what I think..

i wouldn't be surprised if they don't want to see another $500 out of me.

now the decision to be made. i have an offer on the table for a g35x,(prem, sirius, splash guards, trunk mat, 1 year service free) for $100 over invoice - $34.6.

the question for me, am i gonna love the bmw for $7K for more over the life of the car? i know it is a personal thing and determined by the drive. any last thoughts from anyone here?
  • gotrojangotrojan Member Posts: 48
you have included a lot of options. (more options = more margin of profit to the dealer)
You should get it for invoice.
    my 2 cents

Hi, I am considering 2006 Silver BMW 330i with the following spec

    - Metallic Paint
    ZPP Premium Package
    205 STEPTRONIC 6-Speed Automatic Transmission
    ZCW Cold Weather Package
    322 Comfort Access
    693 Satellite Radio Preparation

The MSRP on it is $42,820. The sales person says he can't come below $41000/-

Is it a good price to pay or can I get better deal?

    Thanks!
  • mwhittmwhitt Member Posts: 69
sounds too high to me. i had a guy call today on an xi with an MSRP of 44.5 and gave me 42 on the first offer. I blew it off - didn't counter. Put it this way, I put in a bid of 41 on a car with an MSRP of 44 and they haven't completely blown it off - $600 over invoice.

I say shop around. did you do this through the internet. go to edmunds, get a price off that, both the msrp and the invoice, and then click get a quote. see what happens with the dealers that pop up. but work up off invoice, not down from MSRP.
  • gotrojangotrojan Member Posts: 48
invoice for you car is $39,255

    Good price = 39500

If you dont get it for that, try to get it for 40000/-
    NOT A PENNY MORE!

    Let us know what happens.

Do dealers get a holdback on 330s? If so, about how much?

Thanks. It's important to know when negotiating a deal.

That's too bad, too. It takes away a lot of wiggle room from the consumer when negotiating.

Here is the deal offered to me:

330i SG/Black leather, Step, ZPP, Nav, CA, Sat Radio
    MSRP: $44,340
    Invoice: $40,635
    Price Paid: $41,760

Not the best of deals if you are in NY/CA, but pretty good for TX.

    My question is about leasing:

1.What is the base lease factor and residual for 15K miles?

2.It is my understanding that I can buy additional miles for $0.16/mile anytime up to 6 months before my lease is up. Is this correct?

Thanks all for your help. This has been an incredible forum and I am very appreciative for all the valuable information shared here.

Going to negotiate a 06' 325xi lease (36 mo) this afternoon, and am unable to find the following numbers for my calculations:

    - Money Factor (What would be reasonable?)
    - Residual (Current months?)

I know BMW has a program for 325xi leases right now, but I want to figure out how negotiable the deal really is.

    Thanks.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 264,554
    .0025
    61% residual for 36mo/45K miles..

Those are the base rates.. you can't get any lower..

I'm thinking to trade in my 2003 passat (GLX, all-wheel drive, V6) with a 2006 325xi. My car has about 44k miles on it now.
I went to a couple BMW dealers in MA and they gave me around 15K.
The MSRP of the new 325xi is $36,600. (auto, xenons, heated seats, sat. prep.)
One of the dealers gave me $2000 off of the new car and about 16k for my Passat.

So basically it's about $1000 over the invoice. Do you think I should go for this deal? Is my car really worth only 16k?

    Thanks
  • bmqbmq Member Posts: 18
Thanks kyfdx for the quick reply,

    A couple more questions:

    1. What is the probability of the dealer giving me the base rate? I am getting the old 'Finance Dept has to get paid too' story and they are marking it up by a whole point.

    2. What is the residual/MF if I go to 18K miles/year?

    Thanks again.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 264,554
    1) It depends on the dealer.. if they are only marking it up from .00195 to .00205, then that is pretty minor.. Maybe only $6-$7/mo.. If you mean a whole point of interest... the maximum markup of .0004... then, I'd just tell them that I'm only buying from a dealer that will give me the base rates.. Some dealers just won't do it...

    2) I'm not sure how BMWFS does extra miles... I'm thinking you have to add $0.15/mile to the cap cost... or lower the residual by the same amount (the latter is better).. Either way is expensive.. BMWFS will let you buy miles later on in the lease, when you have a better idea exactly what you will need... for $0.16/mi... I'd do that, and get a lot closer to the exact number.. than take a chance on buying miles that I didn't need..

Hello. I'm interested in an 06' 330xi with manual tran, premium pkg, cold weather, and comfort access. The Edmunds MSRP, TMV, and invoice prices are: $42,745, $41,327, $39,120.

Would anyone have an idea of what sort of prices I could get in central NJ? And do you have any opinions on the dealers: Open Road BMW (Edison), JMK BMW, and Princeton BMW? Have people gotten good deals from them? Thanks.
  • richmondmomrichmondmom Member Posts: 13
Just ordered a 330xi from Charlottesville, VA after talking with Fairfax, Sterling, and Richmond.

330xi (manual transmission) graphite metallic, premium, sport, cold weather, 18" wheels

    MSRP / Invoice = 44,220 / 40,480
    Paid = 42,325 (invoice + 1,845)

I don't think this was a superb deal, but the Richmond dealer was terrible -- playing games on the trade in, adding on for floor mats (how trite), and not very responsive to specific requests (e.g., "find me a car that matches these specs") Fairfax was pretty good to work with, very responsive, and offered decent prices, but seemed to have excessive fees (don't know if it's high doc fees or add'l taxes in Northern Va).

I'm interested in what others are paying for the fees that are not state mandated (like sales tax). My fees came out to:

    sales tax = 1366.37 (3.2% in Va)
    doc fees = 399.00
other misc fees (tags, etc.) = 49.50

I have an opportunity to purchase an Alpine white '04 330i w/ZHP, Step, xenons, leather, moonroof, rear airbags and cold weather; asking $33,988. Not CPO'd.

Comes w/ disclosure that vehicle comes from BMW's performance center w/ 2500 miles, and front bumper cover replaced. Thoughts and concerns or suggestions are appreciated. Reasonable bid?

    Thanks. NJC

    jcflorie,

This is ironic! We're also in the DC area and looking to do the ED as well, circa spring. Same car to a "t" saving we want the 6-speed manual. Please post what you discover, I will likewise. I'm going to BMW of Sterling for the initial inquiry. Good hunting.
  • slugdriverslugdriver Member Posts: 16
    Richmondmom,

How was your experience with Sterling? Did you negotiate via emails or face to face? Additionally, I added up your sales tax(1366.67), doc fees(399), and misc(49.50) and came to a total of $1814.87. Difference of $30.13 ($1845-1814.87). Could you please clarify your final, "this is it" OTD price. Much appreciated.

MSRP 38,425 (automatic, sparkling graphite, sports and premium package, sirius wiring, comfort access)

Dealer sold it to me for 36425, 2000 off MSRP. What do you guys think? BTW, I LOVE THIS FORUM!

I live in Central NJ and wound up leasing a 06 330xi from Hunterdon BMW in Lebanon, NJ. Found their service great, negotitation great and they gave it to me very close to the base rate factor.

Folks, Finally I bought 330i (Titanium Silver)with the following spec.

    - Metallic Paint
    ZPP Premium Package
    205 STEPTRONIC 6-Speed Automatic Transmission
    ZCW Cold Weather Package
    322 Comfort Access
    693 Satellite Radio Preparation
    Floor Mats

MSRP on it is $42,820/-. I paid 40900/-.

Not sure if it was a great deal. However, I could not negotiate further as the dealer was terrible.
  • richmondmomrichmondmom Member Posts: 13
Slugdriver -- Sterling seemed to be pretty responsive to phone calls (emails, not so much), but they just didn't have what I was looking for in stock (although their website indicated that they did). We didn't even get to a point where we were talking price. The only dealer I visited was Richmond; every other dealer was via phone.

Let me clarify the $$ -- the price I got to was 42,325 (which is 1,845 over invoice for my specs). 42,325 + TT&L of 1,814.87 got me to the total "check I have to write" of $44,139.87. I talked to a lot of dealers (Mercedes and Audi, too) over the last week or two and seemed to get different estimates for TT&L from everyone -- some charged flat doc fees, some tried to charge % of price, etc. I'm sure all of these fees are negotiable. It seems like many folks on Edmunds forums are focused very much on cost (vs. invoice) but not so much on all the add-ons like doc fees. A dollar is a dollar.

I just bought a 330xi (jet black/black/premium/cold weather); paid $40,200 (inclusive) before TTL and had the most awesome buying experience (all local dealer research via internet) from the most laid-back salesperson at Passport BMW.
  • bartalk3bartalk3 Member Posts: 692
truly: What was the sticker on that car?
  • richmondmomrichmondmom Member Posts: 13
Trulytruly -- I'm curious about this car, too. With the options you have listed, the MSRP/invoice is $42,245/$38,685. Your price of $1,515 over invoice seems to be pretty good to me. Would you mind telling me what your fees came out to be? (tax, doc fees, etc.) to get to your final "check amount" price?

Interestingly, I put in a bid in a car very similar to this (your specs + comfort access, sport pkg) last week at Fairfax BMW (they wouldn't tell me where the car was located, but it was "nearby"). We were a few hundred dollars apart when I decided to order a car from another dealer.

I was wondering what are car sales reps like now that the end of the year is over. Are they still willing to accept a 'reasonable' offer?

Also, anyone have any '06 data (residual, MF) for a 325 convertible?

I will leave this message with the following observation..
I tried for the past 2-3 weeks to close a deal on the above convertible. Never have I been neglected by so many...
I was in contact with at least 5-6 dealerships in 3 states (Including Nelly BMW) and 90% of the dealers who said that they would get back to me with a quote--never did. And when I would call them again, I would be promised that I would get a call, or an email and never did.

Very disapointing considering I wanted to close on a deal..
I never even got to negotiations since they never called back, even after talking to them in person..

Dont do business in FL with Vista or Braman of WPB..

    Richmondmom,

Thank you for the follow-up information and clarification. I like your '"check I have to write"' analogy and will use that in future threads. Best wishes in the New Year and with your new Bimmer. Cheers.
  • slugdriverslugdriver Member Posts: 16
Truly - no pun intended - at first blush it seems like you got yourself a decent deal. Notwithstanding, am interested in knowing your OTD/"check writing price."
  • skobolaskobola Member Posts: 207
I feel the same pains as you are, however for the 2006 325i. I have found that much better deals can be achieved out of South Florida, that is, out of the Miami region, at least. I understand that the leasing MF is still kind of high for the 2006 3-series, but in addition the Miami dealers do not budge from the MSRP that much, and then they apply increased acquisition fees, MFs, etc. It appears that we can only dream about the prices that are in the range of $1,000 above the invoice, which seems to be a consensus of what one should pay for the Bimmer. So the leasing deals for a close-to-base 325i's (metallic paint + BMW Assist) come close to $500 per month, which I believe is too high, especially when compared to other cars. Such dealers' behavior made me to look for leasing deals outside of South Florida and I got quotes for the 325i in amount of about $430 (that is, about $70 less) per month if leased from other dealerships and/or leasing brokers with no money down. In your case, I believe that the prices should be even lower, as this is not a season for the convertibles in most parts of the country. If you need more info, e-mail me.

    Hi there,

I pulled out the paperwork, and it reminded me how expensive it is to live in DC -- the sales tax is 7%! Ouch!

    Here are the details:

    cold weather/premium pack/satellite radio prep
    including freight ($695)
    Cash price: $40,200
    Dealer processing charge: $100
(for this they "threw in" floormats)
    Total: $40,300
    Tax: $2,814
    Tire tax: $4
    Tags: $267
    Total cash delivered price: $43,385

I remain extremely happy with the whole sales process, which was incredibly calm and hassle-free. Feel free to ask any other questions (wish I could recommend my salesperson by name, but I guess I'm not supposed to...can I give you a hint and tell you that one of his hobbies is fly fishing?).
  • slugdriverslugdriver Member Posts: 16
Thanks for the follow-up - fly-fishing got it. DC is 7% - ouch! Tire tax?! Truly taxation w/o representation. Best wishes with your vehicle. Cheers.
