I don't think the new 325i leases are that great of a deal... The base money factor is .0025, which equates to 6%.. The residuals are good, but if you get a late model CPO ('04 or later), then you can probably drive it cheaper for three years than the new '06..

Of course... they are two completely different cars..

Dear kyfdx, I am finally ready to pull the trigger on my first ever BMW (something I have dreamt of for years) and have seen your helpful posts here. As this would be my first BMW, I am not much aquainted of dealing with salespeople at these premium dealerships.

I drove a 330i and a 325i and was blown away by both, nothing else comes close, more so by the 3301.

I am tempted now to go for the 330 but am not sure how if i can afford it.

I have access to 3-5k cash which I can put down or as MSD. If the 330 lease is good (I read that the MF is lower than that for the 325), I could go for it, otherwise I would have to settle for a 325. Thanks for your help

On the 325i, with a sellingprice of $1000 over invoice, and the acquisition fee rolled in, the monthly payment would be about $503/mo. + tax.

On the 330i, with the same paramaters, the payment would be around $524/mo. + tax.

Figure around $1300-$1500 due at signing on both leases..

If you took full advantage of the MSD program, you'd save around $30/mo pre-tax on either lease.. Of course that would neccessitate coming up with $3500-$3850 extra in security deposits..

What fees (and how much) are added to the invoice price that I should know about (this would help me negotiate a price). Also, how is the lease calculated, this would help me to understand if some added fees are put in by the dealer?

On another note, are there going to be any major changes in the 07s that I should wait for (this is our 3rd car so I am not in a hurry)

I am leasing a new BMW, I'm trading in my 2003 330.

Originally, I was just putting down taxes, MV, 1st month & security dep.

I just received a call from the "Business Manager" and she says it's better for me to roll the taxes into the lease payments, because if the car gets totalled or stolen I won't lose all the taxes.. BUT now she added a cap cost reduction of 2175 (my taxes were about 1600) and through the magic of leasing, my payments went down by 30 cents and my down payment remained the same..

I feel I'm getting shafted somewhere but I can't figure out where just yet.

I'm picking up my car tomorrow, please help me understand.

She said this only worked if someone trades in a vehicle that they have equity in.

Ordered 325i 6spd manual, white with black leatherette and poplar, xenons, sirius, SP, heated seats: $33,460. Trading 2004 Acura TL 6 spd man, no sat nav, c.21K miles: $24,000. Got estimate from 4 dealers on the TL -- all $23-24K max. Looking at financing around $18K at 5.79%/48 mos. with Chase.

Not spectacular, but, I hope, fair to me and the dealer.

Do you know if anyone has been approved with a beacon in the 600s and how high the score was?

Do you know what credit report BMW Financial uses?

I'm at a 670 Equifax score and I'm kinda nervous about them pulling up my credit and me not getting approved. I know Lexus would approve me since they are on a tier method and 670 is good enough for them- but BMW is very secretive about the beacons. I make $85,000 and have 100k in law school loans on deferment status. I also just paid all of my credit cards and I have not one late payment on my current car. I pay $450 a month religiously. I would like to know what kind of a chance I have to get into a BMW lease. Can you give me advice? Do you think I can get approved?

My advice, doubtless not what you want to read, but respectfully, is to go for a much less expensive car, with a lower total cost of ownership, and pay down some of the principal on that student loan. The BMW can wait. Aim for postive equity. After all, it's only a car.

I can't help much on the lease. However, I found out they don't care much for giving loans. I have the Highest beacon score available. When my car arrived last May they told me BMW was about 6-7% on finance :mad: Sooo went over to my credit union and promptly got 4.7% after a 3 minute mini-app.

I know you didn't solicit our advise but Id be with the others and work on that loan before a BMW. They are also tax deduct able correct ?

Just got back from visiting my dealer. I think its a fair deal, but not great and I see where they are making their money. I live in Socal.

I have a lease on an '03 325xi Wagon that ends this June and I'm not sure if I should buy out the lease or lease a new '06 325xi Wagon. My current car has low mileage (24,000) and a buyout price of $23,539 + $350 diposition fee. The car is in excellent shape, no dings, scratches, etc. According to Edmunds.com, the average suggested retail for the car is $27,900.00 (from a dealer). My local dealer quoted me a price of $1100 over invoice for an '06 325xi Wagon that I would probably have to order (6 spd manual, sport pkg, power seats, heated seats, leather, paint). The new lease APR is 6.19%. I live in the Northeast, sales tax is 7%. Thanks so much for your input.

There are few critical pieces of information on this summary:

1. The negotiated purchase price. From its absense, i can only concluded that the lease was calculated using retail as the purchase price. In NJ it should be around $1000-$1200 over invoice including MACO.
2. The base money factor for 330i is 0.00195 for 36 months. I bet they are marking that up as well. You should get clarity on these two. My quote on a similarly equipped car was $519 a month for 36 months.

Leased a 330i (manual, sport and cold weather packages) in February. Selling price was $1000 over KBB/Edmunds invoice (or $800 over dealer invoice, which included a $200 DAG fee).

Got the February BMWFS lease terms everyone has seen. Lease is for 2 years/12k miles. Monthly lease payment, before taxes, is $433. With tax, $476 a month. Initial payment is $1824 (which includes first monthly payment ($476), security deposit ($500), tags, and acquisition fee ($625). No document, processing, or other fees -- though the dealer tried to slide these in. Just say no. Oh, and floor mats are included (it's ridiculous this is even an issue one has to deal with).

At least two dealers in the area were willing to do this deal. And two others wanted a couple hundred more on the selling price.

No idea what credit report the dealer pulled; we never talked about my credit status. I believe other posts have suggested that the BMWFS terms from February didn't require outstanding credit (though mine is very good). If a dealer tells you so, he's probably jiving you. Moreover, I negotiated this deal before filling out BMWFS credit application, further suggesting that my credit status wasn't something the dealer was too concerned about.

Why waste time worrying about your credit status? Figure out the terms of the deal you're willing to do and see what dealers want your business. Once you've a got a deal, fill out the credit report and see what happens.

for 325Ci coupe: the lease rate for march is :
36 mo/15k mi  Residual Value 57% of MSRP  .00150 Base Money Factor Rate.

$1000 over dealer invoice is a fair deal if they don't mark up bank fee and money factor rate.

With money down of 1790 your monthly payment should be 467+tax of 7.7%=503
It's not a good idea to put money down, if your car is stolen/total loss , you'll lose those money.

Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question. The standard Destination Charge on a new BMW 325 is $695. Is the Dealer Acquisition Fee, that is discussed in this forum, in addition to the Destination Charge?

The $695 destination fee is the charge for shipping the car from Germany to the US. It is charged to every BMW, regardless of whether you finance, lease, or pay cash.

The $625 is the Lease Acquisition Fee. It is only charged when you lease a BMW, not finance or pay cash. Note that this fee is charged by the bank (BMW Financial Services) and is not a Dealer fee.

In recent negotiations about buying a new 325xi we were settling on price. The car included the premium package, heated front seats, steptronic auto transmission, and satelitte prep. The MSRP shown was 38,245. I offered 37,000 if they would include satelitte radio. There response was they would give me the satelitte radio but there was a $300 fee for installing it above and beyone the satelitte prep already included. After telling him I was uncomfortable about paying for the installation, they said they could knock it in half...but then they were up against the wall at this price and could do not better and were unable to eliminate the labor fees. I asked if they would then throw in floor mats to make up difference. The salesperson came back and said he would include rubber floormats but he had to personally pay for them because the price was already to the lowest amount possibe, if I wanted carpeted I needed to chip in an extra $50.

All this struck me as very strange so I told them I would have to think about it and left.

A few questions.

Is $37,000 or basically $1,500 over invoice a "to the wall" price and I should expect that? I actually thought it was fair. Edmunds lists $37.4K as the TMV with satelitte radio included.

If the car actually comes with satellite radio from the factory, then there is no extra charge... just the $595 option. If it needs to be installed in a car with satellite prep, then they need to buy the new unit (Retail Sat Radio for $552.42) and the service dept will charge for the installation. Figure about $600-$700. Even though it is in house, the service tech still needs to get paid and the service dept still needs their cut. No one can just throw something in for free. It comes off their bottom line, so all costs have to be figured in. That's probably why they can't move any more.

Carpet mats are something like $120, and rubber mats are something like $75.

A completely separate issue, but most BMW dealers actually have a per vehicle cost that's about $300-$400 higher than Edmunds' invoice price because of MACO fees (manufacturer advertising), PDI fees, etc.

It is just hard for me to pay that money for something that could just as well as been in the car if it was equipped the way I wanted it....unless I was in a big hurry to own.

Is about $1,500 over invoice a bottom line on average with BMW? Especially because of MACO fees?

A dealer making $1000 profit on a 3-Series is generally thought of as a decent deal for the buyer. Taking everything into account for the deal you outlined above, they'd be making well under that.

The $1790 is not money down, its drive off of first, security, acquisition fee, and dmv fees.

So all in all its $1000 over invoice with a .0019 money factor for 3yrs/15k.

Question: I own a bmw right now that is financed through Chase. Shouldn't they waive the security deposit in order for me to get the .0019 money factor?

I like the interactive-type navigation system with icons for stuff like Thai restaurants that is on the Prius much more than the mainly visual map system for the BMW. I just bought a 2006 325xi and cancelled the navigation system. Can anyone tell me how to get the Prius or equivalent navigation system installed on the BMW and where to get it? Thank you.

I did your car in edmunds, getting $40,695 MSRP $37,280 Invoice. The x3 is probably the least popular of all the BMW vehicles, so I think you should easily be able to get $500 over invoice on it. My 330xi is on order from Denville BMW, but I will use their totals to figure out your car. I ended up paying $488 over invoice in Feb.

Car (37280+500)= $37,780
Tax (6%) = 2266.80
Tire Fee = 6.00
Registration/Title =319.00
Documentation (varies)198.00 (Should not be more than $200)

Total: 40,569.80. I would shoot for 40,500 OTD on this car including wheel locks & all season mats. The price they are quoting you is approx $1500 over invoice. Not a good deal in New Jersey, keep shopping around. I received my best e-mail responses from Prestige, Difeo, Denville, and Hunterdon. Just send them all e-mails asking for their bottom figure OTD on this vehicle, and for them to break it down for you. Once you have the lowest figure, send it out to other dealers to see if they can beat it. Keep doing this until you have your rock bottom figure. Also consider getting the satellite radio outright instead of the prep, it should save you money. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Premium, Sport and Cold Packages.
Satellite installed, for $42,400...no additional charges (ie, floor mats).

Any thoughts on whether this is a reasonable or "good" deal?

I assume this is NOT an OTD price. To give you an idea, my 330xi was MSRP 43,520, Invoice 39,895. I ended up paying $43,329 OTD w/ our tax rate being 1% higher as well as our prepaid DMV fees for $319. I did your car in edmunds and came out to: $43,740 MSRP $40,045 Invoice

Figuring $40,045 + 500 Dealer Profit we have 40545
Mass Tax (5%) 2027.25
Document Fee (Between 100-200, Use 150 for example) 150
Tire Tax/DMV-Not sure what it is in Mass, this should be a uniform number amongst all the dealers. X

I have 42,722+X (the DMV/Tire). So lets approximate to $42,800 Out the Door for your car. If the $42,400 is in fact an OTD price, take it and run. If it is not, you can definitely do better. I don't know how negotiable the Massachusetts Dealers are, but you may have success expanding your negotiations over e-mail to New Jersey. Do all negotiations over e-mail, have them send you OTD figures on the car and break it down. Send to a lot of dealers, as many will not respond (at least in my case). The key is patience.

On the BMW website the ED price is $28,735 while the invoice on Edmunds is $28,300. Is the ED price the lowest i can get or there is room for more?

Is this a better price ?

I would like to know, what finance rates BMW dealers are offering o 325xi models ? well does it vary by models ?

I heard they are offering 2.9 % on some models. is that true ?

Any one used the costco pricing scheme with the auto dealers. I checked that the dealer in NJ, denville or something is a costo affiliated/associated dealer. It seems that the dealer shows the exact price they paid and what they expect.
Clear cut ho hassle dealer customer round trips.
