I was just gonna post that they don't like us posting contact info. I can tell you I simply picked the e-mail address off of the contact us info and asked for quote. I countered lower and he gave me the above info as his bottom line.

I ordered mine on January 6th and picked it up on Feb. 14th. You can track it on the BMW owners circle website or call 800-831-1117 and select option 2, then just type in your production number. Good luck.

Looking to lease a 2006 330i in the Albany, NY area and just received the following quote from a local dealer. From what I have seen on this forum, I believe that the quoted lease terms are competitive, but I am not too sure about the dealer profit factor. Should I be able to find a better deal in this region or is the following truly competitive. Dealer has stated that $1750 over invoice is the best that they will do on a vehicle that must be ordered.

I have never leased before, so please let me know what you think.

    2006 330i
    Premium pkg
    Sport pkg
    Cold weather pkg
    Sat Radio
    Metallic Paint

    MSRP - $43,165
    QUOTE - $41,265 (Invoice + $1750)

    Lease terms:

    36 months/15k miles per yr.
    MF = 0.00195
    Residual = 62%
    NYS Acq Fee = $825

    NYS Inspec = $16
    Dealer Doc. Fee=$45

    South Bay BMW:
    MSRP: 44,840
    Invoice: 41,090 kbb.com
    MACO: 330
    Price: 42,220 ($800 over kbb.com invoice+MACO)

It seemed like a decent deal and dealer is close to my house (plus my wife refused to let me shop anymore). I'm not happy about the MACO but there doesn't seem to be much I could do about.

We're gonna buy it but it won't be here till May.
Salesman said I was too late for Feb build. It's gonna be a long 2-3months :P

It seems like they are marking up the acquisition fee by $200. They're giving you the base money factor which is good. They should be able to come down on the selling price by AT LEAST $750. You should roll the taxes into your lease payment.

Using an 8.25% Sales tax rate rolled into your lease with the $1000 over invoice selling price of the vehicle, I get a payment of $555.56 per month.

You pay 1st month, security, acq fee, & various other fees you listed up front.

Thanks for your input. The dealer (Keeler BMW) tells me that $1750 over invoice is the best that they will do on a special order car from Germany. I have pushed them for $1000 over invoice but they tell me that they will only do this for inventory that they have on their lot.

You mention that it appears that they are inflating the acquisition fee by ~$200. Isn't this a standard rate?

Also, the Sales tax in my locale is 7%

Any suggestions on other dealers in my region that might offer a better deal?

I would consider getting quotes from Northern New Jersey dealers as well. Once you find your best quote I would attempt to get your local dealer to beat/match the quote. If not, the trip to Northern NJ from the Albany area really isn't too bad.

    Good luck,
    Matt
  • rockclimberlarockclimberla Member Posts: 16
acquisition fee base is 625, so your dealer is adding 200

1750 over invoice is high compared to what others are paying, just shop around, i am sure you can find a better deal with a little legwork (or in this case finger work)
  • nyccarguynyccarguy Member Posts: 17,534
Definetly get quotes from dealers within 2 hour drive from you. There are a lot of dealers in Northern NJ, Rockland, Orange, & Westchester County (in NY). Wait for them (Keeler) to call you back. They might be willing to do the deal when the end of the month rolls around (you never know). Be patient.

Let me guess, the inventory on their lot is all Xi 3ers with slushboxes?

Thanks for reminding me to be patient! I have been holding off on a new 3 since Oct., just waiting for the winter to pass.

I am originally from the Northern NJ /Rockland Cty area so I am familiar with a couple of the dealers in that area. I have already sent out a few price quote inquiries - will keep you posted on how I make out.

You've guessed correctly on Keeler, all they had on the lot last I checked were a few auto Xi 3's.
  • nyccarguynyccarguy Member Posts: 17,534
If you've waited this long (and you car may have to be ordered), just wait until the price is right (for you).

Hello all, new to the board.

I am looking to lease a 2006 BMW 325i. Here is the lowest offer from my dealership in NY.

    2006 BMW 325i - 24 month/20,000 miles
    Black/Black leatherette
    Heated front seats
    Manual trans

    $399.00 per month (including taxes)

Is this a good deal or can I do better??

    Thanks,

    Hello,
I'm new to this group too. Will someone tell me what MACO is?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,275
MACO is a BMW advertising fee, that is on the dealer's invoice.. (the dealer has to pay it to BMW, when he buys the car from them).

It varies by locality.. generally between $200-$450..

Passport BMW is one of the best around and is right near you in Marlowe Heights (301) 423-8400.

Tischer is also good. They are in Laurel. BMW of Arlington (used to be Heishmann's) on Rt 1 in Alexandria just south of the airport has been there forever and is very good. :D

Going to London in July and Berlin in Sept. Flights to Munich from either location is cheap and short, time-wise.

How much in advance do I need to order to pick up? Any chance the 2007 will be available for ED pick up in early Sept?

Also, I know you can drop off in Paris or various other locations. Is it true someone just drives it back to Munich? What would be the gas and toll cost to drive it to Paris?
  • peachy810peachy810 Member Posts: 4
I've been following these forums for some time now, and they've been very helpful (and entertaining). I spent a couple of months trying to decide between 325i and Lexus IS250. Now I know I definitely want the 325i, so I've started negotiating for it, mainly in Atlanta area.

    Titanium Silver/Gray/Burled Walnut
    Premium Package
    Auto Trans
    Sirius
    MSRP $36,840 (includes Destination)

Am discussing with 5 dealers, 3 by email, 2 where I actually visited and test-drove more than once. One offer (Jax, Fl) was $1,000 off MSRP plus free floor mats. Wow.
One from Atlanta will go $1,400 off MSRP. (Didn't mention floor mats.) ;) Another, also in Atlanta, says he will go $500 over dealer invoice! Now I'm getting interested. I'm waiting for him to send me an exact breakdown of all costs, because I suspect there's something extra he's going to tack on.

All BMW dealers in my area seem to charge $399 for Documentation. When I kept questioning one, he admitted that it was "extra dealer profit". So even if the last guy's offer of $500 has no other costs attached, that means I would still be paying $899 (500 + 399) over dealer invoice. And, actually, that doesn't seem too bad to me.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

just custom order my 330i on 13th. won't get to the production until first week of march. the long wait is killing me. have to wait 8 to 10 weeks. :(
got mine at 38200, around 41350 out of door in So. Cal. 1000 over dealer's invoice, 1400 over edmunds' invoice. 2000+ below MSRP. could have gone to somewhereelse, but the dealer offers good service and is close to my place.

    Arctic
    Comfort Access
    Nav
Aluminum Trim (i hate wood trim to death, one of the big reaons drive me away from lexus IS 350)

can't wait. y does it have to take so long

I think $900 over would be a great deal.. If they are quoting an amount "over invoice", you can be pretty sure they will add an advertising fee (MACO) on there... Still.. would be a great deal..

Check out Edmunds.com and know what the invoice is ahead of time...

    Good luck,

Just got off the phone with my dealer. I have a 04 325 that I'm ready to turn back in for the lease end. I'm looking to lease a new 06 330i. Here's the car I'm looking at:

    330i black/black
    premium
    sport
    auto/step
    navigation
    heated seats
    comfort
    sirius sat radio

    MSRP is $45,965
    Invoice is $42445
    Chargeing me $800 over invoice
    Purchase price is $43,295

He quoted me for 24 months at 12k miles per year. The drive offs are $1,841.75 and monthly payment is $559.21/mo.

Is this the best deal I can get or should I ask for more? He said the deals on the 330i are better than 325i right now. A 325i with same exact options (msrp of $42,965 and my price of $40,520...(39,670 invoice+850)) is 584.53/mo for 24 months and same drive offs. I couldn't believe it's $25/month cheaper to drive a better and more expensive car.

Can someone verify this to be true and if the deal on the 330i is good? I'm a returning bmw customer and want to make sure I'm getting the best deal especially since I'm a returning "loyalty" customer (and have lease 3 bmw's to date).

    thanks.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,275
The 330i leases are indeed better than the 325i..

I'm not too sure on his invoice numbers, though... It seems the spread should be more than $3500 on a car that is optioned up that much.. Though, your selling price is still good..

Any idea what your tax rate is? Or, how much of the $559/mo. is tax? Also.. a breakdown of the $1841 drive-off? $559 1st pymt, $625 acq.fee.. That leaves about $650 unaccounted for..

Using the base rates, and the MSRP and selling price you provided, I get $501/mo.+ tax..

Just got a quote from my dealer:

    325i
    Black/Black
    Manual
    Heated seats
    24 month/20,000 mile
    MSRP: 32170.00
    Negotiated Price: $30,808.97
    Residual 77%
    Money factor .00265
    Total cap cost: $825.00
    Total cap reduction: $800.00 ?????
    Total Initial fees $217.50
    NY Tax: 909.96
    1 month 399.98
    Total out of pocket $2327.44

Is this truly a fair deal? Any feedback would be great.

I'd recommend that you join bimmerfest.com and post this question in the ED forum. There's a whole section on ED.

Early Sept. for a 2007 will be tough because they build the cars 30-days before pick-up, so your car would be build in early Aug.

No, if you drop off in Paris, they truck it to the port. Italy drop-offs are driven back to Munich for shipping.

No idea on the gas and toll, but the car basically gets about between 22-25 mpg (about 35-40km/gal). So figure out the distance from Munich to Paris and any stops in between.
  • wco81wco81 Member Posts: 594
Yeah I did post at bimmerfest. They said typically 6 weeks but maybe double or more in the summer.

Actually even if I did it in July (which would be better than Sept), that is near the end of the model year so you would think there would be more deals. Of course no deal in the US will be as good as an ED deal, unless maybe a dealer wants to take just $500 over ED invoice. :D
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,275
Not a bad deal.. There isn't much spread between invoice and MSRP at this price level..

    A few points

    1) You are getting the base money factor... with the .00015 bump for security deposit waiver.. This is good.

    2) The additional cap cost ($825) is the acquisition fee.. the base fee is $625. The dealer is marking up the fee for extra profit

    3) $800 cap reduction? Money you are paying upfront to reduce the payment. I'm guessing that either you asked for "under $400"... or that they think that will make the payment easier to swallow..

If I were leasing the car at that selling price, I'd structure it this way.

$625 acq.fee + $910 NY tax would be added to the cap cost.. I'd make no cap cost reduction, but I would make a security deposit to bring the money factor down to .0025

    $30,809 Selling price
    $32,344 Cap cost (selling price + $625 +$910)
    MF .0025
    24mo/20K lease
    Payment = $459/mo...including tax

Due at signing: 1st payment ($459), security deposit ($500), Initial fees ($218). TOTAL = $1177
Also, you'll get the $500 back at lease end..

It isn't much of a difference.... But, by not paying all of those costs upfront, it gives a clearer picture of the actual monthly expense of the lease..

Live in IL, tax rate is 6.75%. Acq fee is 625, doc fee 57, license 145, no money down, security and first month at signing. The taxes account for $85 per month, if I take them out.

It makes a lot more sense now... You have to pay taxes on the whole car... not just the lease portion...

Then.. your payment does make sense..

First... find out the exact invoice price for the car you wish to purchase... You can get that here on Edmunds.com.

Then, if the deal is really for invoice + $400 + $280 MACO, then jump on it..

5.4% is very good... I doubt you can get under 4.9%..

Anyone know what the current range of MF and resid Value (as percent) is for a 2006 330Cci with 10K miles/yr?
Also, how much below MSRP have people been getting on this car; I am in So. Arizona.
    Thanks

    Hi jmartin:

Are these BMW Financial's rates? The MF is much lower than what my dealer quoted me. I was quoted .00290 MF on 24 or 36-month terms with 12,000miles/yr on a 325i. The residual is 76% and 64%, respectively.

Maybe the lease deal is better on 330i right now?
  • jmartin1jmartin1 Member Posts: 9
I believe BMW Financial's MF on 330i for Feb is 0.00195. I was able to get 0.00215. Residual is at 64% for 3 yrs/12,000mi. I took it.
  • jmartin1jmartin1 Member Posts: 9
...which makes the deals on 330's attractive compared with 325's right now. Not sure if this will change for March.

    OK, check this out,

After some more negotiating on the phone, I got them to throw in the Sport Package for the same price. Now I feel like I got a solid deal.

    325i
    Black/Black
    Manual
    Heated Seats
    Sport Package

    Total out of pocket $2300
    $399 per month / 24 months 10000 per year.

Have not seen the breakdown on paper yet but seems great.

    Any thoughts?

After a week of pricing with 5 dealers (4 in Atlanta area, 1 in Jax Fl.), I gave deposit check this morning to order 325i. Best deal for me came from Athens (GA) BMW.

    Titanium Silver/Gray Leather/Burl Walnut
    Premium Package
Steptronic (Hey, I'm a girl, okay?)
    Sirius Satellite Radio
    MSRP $36,800
    My Price $35,000 + $299 fees

I asked for floor mats and wheel locks to be thrown in, and he agreed.
I expected to have a couple months' wait. Dealer called this p.m. and said he found my exact car already built and on its way to port in Germany! I'm going to be out of the country for next 3 weeks. He says it should be here waiting for me when I return!!! :D

I am not sure what the invoice is on this car with your options, but I think you can find a better deal than that. I have heard people are getting the 3 series $500-800 over invoice. But then again, I live in California so sometimes the competition for sales can be fierce.

I lease for 2 reasons....1) love a new car every 3 years and 2) car payments or repairs are, for most people, a fact of life. Therefore, I'd rather pay for a new one all time. Many people rent apartments for years, what's the difference renting a car? It is basically the only thing I dont own and have no problems doing it. This is now my 4th BMW and each one has gotten progressively better while the payments have only incrementally increased. As a customer for almost 12 years, I have a lot of bargaining power. Always easier to keep an existing customer than to get a new one through the door! Sales 101
