    Thank you kyfdx.
I negotiated my deal today using the data that you passed along here about 10 days ago. Here's a summary assessment of the value this site has provided me with -- I may have been able to negotiate a similar deal without the specific information kyfdx provided -- but I seriously doubt it. I was fortunate that the dealer originally worked up the deal with every possible variable in their favor. Because their deal was so unfair, it was easy for me to declare open season on the proposed transaction -- and shoot it full of holes. When it became immediately evident to the dealer that I understood each of the variables, I was able to get the fair price and lease terms that I wanted almost instantly. Thus, the value here is that I eliminated all of the painful nonsense in the negotiating process.

One other comment -- it is so easy to get caught up in the numbers on a transaction like this. When I test drove this car today, I was completely blown away by how good it is. The new 3-series is a fabulous car.

    Thanks again kyfdx.

I purchased a 325ci a year ago and am going to give that to my wife. As for me, I want to lease a 2006 330ci. With my options, here are the details:

    MSRP: 43,370
    Quote: 41,200
    Invoice: 39,705

What would be the residual? Are there any incentives for February? Is the quote price fair? And lastly, what MF should I be expecting.

Thanks for any and all help.

    Blueguydotcom,
I'm ready to visit my dealer and order a 330i.

    Other than the ED,
    - what options/packages are you getting,
    - what price on the 330i are you dealing from and
    - what other fees should I be looking for when I start dealing ?
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
    I got:

    Leather
    Comfort Access
    Park Distance Control
    Sport Package

I started with the munich ED base invoice = 30,975 + 695 shipping + dealer profit (negotiate 800-1500 over invoice) + options at invoice price.

No MACO on ED cars. Because I already have a lease, BMW waves the lease inception stuff. Lease numbers are off US MSRP.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,267
Residual is 57% of MSRP for 3yr/45K lease

    Base money factor is .0015...

No incentives that I know of.. except low finance rates if you are buying...

That quote is a fair deal, if they aren't making it up elsewhere..

Having ordered one of the first cars in Feb last year . CA was not available option then. I don't care so much about not having comfort "access" However the comfort "start" part I would want next time. Its counter intuitive to insert the plastic "key" and still push start. Not too mention I wonder how long its going to take to wear the plastic down too where it fits loose... Id spend that $500.

    Thanks for the info kyfdx...

I don't know the first thing about leases, hence all of my questions.

Is the residual negotiable or set by the bank?

Should I be able to get the .0015 MF?

I am buying in San Diego, CA. Are there any other fees besides the acquisition fee?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,267
    The residual is not negotiable..

You might have to shop around... and insist on the base money factor.. the dealer is permitted to mark it up by .0004...

You'll have title/license fees... I think CA has a tire fee.. altogether about $300-$450 due at signing.. There shouldn't be any other fees (like the ones that go in the dealer's pocket)... Just say no to these.... or have them reduce your selling price by the same amount..

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there financed through BMW using the BMW select option (balloon). If so, what are your thoughts on it? Plus, do you think this is a better option than leasing? I am looking to get a 325xi in the coming months. I currently own a 2004 Altima 2.5 S that's paid off and I am trying to figure out if it works better to lease with the option to buy, or rather just buy outright and re-finance when the balloon comes due. :)

    Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to get your opinions on a deal I have been offered in NJ. Do you think I can do better, or would you say to take the deal? I plan on signing the papers on Saturday. The car will have to be ordered, and is an 06 330xi Jet Black/Terra/Poplar--Steptronic, Premium Package, Heated Seats, and Park Distance Control. MSRP: $43,520. Invoice $39,895 After some e-mail corresponding, I have been offered $43,329 Out The Door (Tax, Tags, Fees Included) including wheel locks & all season mats. Thanks for your time!
    Matt
(P.S. is the Comfort Access worth it? I have been reading that so many think it is the "best option." Also, have any of you bought the wheel and tire insurance, and if so how much have you paid for 5 years? All these run-flat horror stories are making me nervous.)

Got a quote from a dealer in Texas on a lease, 2006 330ci. It's pretty well loaded, the MSRP is $46,945. He won't come off that, saying he threw in floor mats, the pre-delivery inspection, plus they're having to truck it in from another dealer (about $500)=total of about $800.

    MSRP $46,945
    Money factor .00195
    3yr/15K per
    0 down
    Residual 57%
    Money at signing $1566
    -1st mo payment $766
    -$800 deposit
I live in New Mexico so they are adding what he called the "use tax" into payment which is $766 per month.
    Is this about right?

    Hello!

Here is my best quote for a order that I'm going to pick up at the Performance Center in South Carolina :D :

    Electric Red 325xi Wagon
    Premium Package
    Steptronic
    Cold Weather
    Xenon Lights
    Comfort Access
    Satellite Radio Prep
    All weather mats

    MSRP of $41,523.00

    Quote $40,123.00 ($1,400 discount) 2.9% Financing

    6/100 warr ext. is $2,450
    6/100 maint ext. is $1,350

    Questions:

True that this is a pretty good quote for an order?
Is it worth extending the warranty and maintenance - I tend to keep cars for about 7 years/100,000 miles or so. I usually don't, but I have bad car karma (a Volvo and Subaru both with well over $3500 in warranty work).

    Appreciate the assistance.

Whoa, how'd you get that rate? :surprise:
  • leej_48103leej_48103 Member Posts: 6
It's available through the BMW dealership. With 5% CDs I'll finance anything at 2.9% - and it's for 5 years!

Where I live.. the dealer is offering 2.9% on every BMW except M5, M3, 6-series and 7-series.. Through BMWFS..

BMWFS is offering 2.9% where I live as well. But I am wondering if one has to have exceptional credit score to get that rate. Are people getting qualified for that with 750 Creidt score?

2006 325xi auto, heated seats, sat wiring, power fron seats with driver memory MSRP 36800, I offered 35500. Did I offer too much? Invoice is 33700.
  • leej_48103leej_48103 Member Posts: 6
Regarding the 750 credit score, my wife and I are in the 650-700 range with no significant issues, but don't have a lot of debt. In my maybe not so humble opinion, I'd hope before spending this much on a car someone's credit was good.
  • Firebird_EOUFirebird_EOU Member Posts: 250
Comfort Access is a bit scary if you have little kids around that can accidentally start the car w/you around and key in pocket.

What is your actual cost of car above invoice? It's hard to tell when you have unknown tags/fees included. If I simply multiply by 0.94 for tax rate you seem to only pay less than $800 over invoice? Also invoice price came out to be $40,095 w/your configuration.

Which dealer is this? Is this off the lot or special order?
  • mattr82mattr82 Member Posts: 41
    Hi Firebird,
Thanks for the quick reply. I am single, so no kids to botch with the comfort access. We have a 6 percent tax, so from my calculations it seems like 580 or so above invoice, give or take a few bucks. Motor Vehicle here is for 4 yrs between 290-330, and doc fee ranges between 100-200. I have been negotiating out the door prices rather than car+fees+TTL in order to not get screwed by them tacking on additional fees. I have attempted to break it down compared to the other responses I have received:
40,445 car (figuring 550 over invoice, might be slighly off)
    2426 tax (6%)
    138 doc
320 mv (we pay for all 4 years at registration, this is why it is so high)

Again these numbers may be slighly off one way or the other, but they are pretty close to accurate I think.

This is from Denville BMW. I have been getting the best responses from Denville, Difeo, and Prestige. I e-mailed around 20 dealers, and only have heard back from 10. This is for a car to be ordered. I am going in on Saturday to sign the papers unless I get a better deal.

Thanks for your help, and please let me know if you have any info on the tire and wheel hazard plan.

    Regards,
    Matt

I looked into that 2.9% financing with BMWFS....

It's only for the "Central" region, which extends are far east as Ohio (and a very small piece of PA); as north as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota; as south as Kentucky; as west as Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri.

It's definitely not fair that they don't offer that everywhere else!
  • mattr82mattr82 Member Posts: 41
Open Road was totally outrageous, asking approx $2500 over invoice. Princeton never responded, but from all of the posts I have read talking about their service, I would be afraid to bring my car or buy it there! Check out

I placed an order for a 330ci on 1/21. Status from the dealer is that "it is in the system". He forwarded a copy of his daily inventory recap and my vehicle is listed with a status code of 47 and is in the “order bank”. It also shows what appears to be a requested build date of week 9 ( I think that is next week). I thought I would receive a production number or VIN fairly soon after placing an order, but nada!

Can someone, who is familiar with the ordering process (and allocations) works, provide some insight as to whether this is normal… or is my dealer short on allocations and I’m stuck in limbo land until he lands another one?
  • mattr82mattr82 Member Posts: 41
    np1,
I think it really depends on where you are located. Here in Jersey we have over 10+ dealers, many of which are within 20-30 minutes of one another. In Texas for instance, I have heard of people rarely getting over 1500 below msrp. I think a "good" price right now would be between 500-750 over invoice. 750-1000 seems decent. 1000+ seems high, but again it depends how many BMW dealers are in your neck of the woods. This price should include any MACO/Adverstising or other fees they would tack on, excluding only Doc Fee. I recommend figuring out a good Out The Door figure factoring in your tax rate, their doc fee, and your motor vehicle registration expenses. In doing so you won't be surprised by hidden figures at the end of your deal. Good luck! The car is worth it!
    Regards,
    Matt :)

Looks like I will be going to Denville. Too bad the 2.9% financing doesn't seem to be avail for NJ (based on another post about only Centra US) - did you find out what's the finance rate for NJ? Are you dealing with the Internet Sales Manager at Denville?

I want to purchase a 2006 330i (Monaco Blue with Tan or Grey Leather--not sure which looks better--premium package, automatic, cold weather package, SIRRUS pre wire, automatic sun shades, comfort control --all for sure) Will probably buy as opposed to lease and probably will not trade though I do have 2004 LEXUS GX 470 and 2004 low mileage SAAB 9.3 Aero Convertible(sweet!)which I am considering letting go of. My problem is this. I know what I want and do want at least the options I have listed. I am not opposed to ordering the car. I live in Dallas/FortWorth area and it appears to be a sellers' market. I know what I want and am indifferent as to where I purchase the car. It could even be a fun road trip taking it home. Any advice???? Thanks

    Thanks for the information, Matt.

I am in Omaha, NE and unfortunately I don't know anyone who has bought a 3 from the local dealer. There is only 1 dealer in the 60 mile radius. But the salesman did say that there was no documentation fee. What other hidden charges could there be?

I didn't see any floor mats in the car I test drove. Would I have to pay extra fro the floor mats? If so, that is ridiculous.

The production number is produced before the order is even placed, so you and your salesperson should have that. (FYI: That is the only way they were able to look up your order and tell you what the status was...) A VIN will be produced right when the car starts production.

When you place an order, it does not necessarily immediately go into production. Dealers have assigned allocation for every week. If they already have their allocation filled for the current week or if the current week's allocation has already gone to production, then you'll have to wait until the next round. When a car is marked as "sold" (aka: customer order), then it moves closer to the front of the line and expedited to some degree. FWIW, if you car is allocated for "Week 9" production, then that means it will be completed within the 9th week of the year, which is the week of 2/27-3/3.

You'll be amazed at how fast your car may move from "On Order" to "Produced, Not Shipped"... The car can move from "On Order" into production in one day and then the car may only take 2or 3 days to actually build.

Patience is the toughest thing when ordering a car. Don't worry... It'll come. :)

Good morning. I am interested in buying a 325xi through European Delivery. The US MSRP comes out to 35,520 with auto and BMW Assist. I have a few questions:

    1. Where are you guys getting your ED invoice prices? I read in an earlier post that they are available on a competitor's website (BF) but I could not find it there.

    2. Is there anyone in the NYC area that has negotiated an ED price recently? I see people throwing out 800-1500 over ED invoice, but I'd like to get a feel for whether it's closer to 800 or 1500.

    3. What is the typical production time on a 3 series car? I told a salesguy at a dealer that I'd like to travel to Europe in mid-May and he said I should place the order no later than the 2nd week of March.

    Thanks for your help,

    Peter

Go to the page that lists base price euro delivery price munich pickup.

    http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54549&d=1122480781

    1. A 325xi is 27,760 + $695 shipping + auto $1210 + BMW Assist 685 + dealer profit $1000 = 313xx. There is no MACO on ED. Be sure if you lease that they work the lease numbers off MSRP.

    2. No idea.

    3. He's right, place your order by mid march. The sooner you place the order, the better off you'll be as you can specify an exact pick up time.
  • mattr82mattr82 Member Posts: 41
You might consider getting quotes from further areas which have more of a selection of BMW dealers, thus more potential to negotiate. I have just heard of MACO and advertising fees. I have heard from some that the carpet mats are included, some have not. I think you should certainly have it in your deal regardless, including wheel locks-which I am surprised are options on cars these days.

I was in the same position about 8 weeks ago. I thought I had a St. Louis contact that was willing to deal (the closest COSCO associated dealer I could find) but it soured.

The best I’ve found within 800 miles of Dallas is Autobahn BMW in Ft. Worth. Through them I have a 330ci coupe / leather / 18” wheels / xeon / sport / metallic / alarm on order…$44,250 out the door (including TTL, e.g. Texas 6.25% sales tax)

Thats so much for your reply. Mind if I ask you how much off that was from MSRP? Is yours automatic? Did you also look at Audi A4?

I placed my order on 12/30 for my 330xi, but the dealer didn't get it keyed into the system until 1/3/06. I'm scheduled for production this week (week 8). By my math, you are running two weeks ahead of me (ordered 3 weeks later and production is only one week later), so feel good about that. ;) Dealer is estimating end of March pickup. The dealer did give me my production # right when he ordered it, and as far as I can tell, this is the only way to track a specific order.
  • mattr82mattr82 Member Posts: 41
I just signed for my new 330xi to be ordered from Denville BMW in New Jersey.

Got the car for exactly what was agreed in e-mail, $43,329 Out the Door. The car is MSRP $43,520. 330xi Jet Blk/Terra/Poplar w/ Automatic, Premium Pack, Heated Seats, and Rear Park Assist (including all season mats/wheel locks). The breakdown on the vehicle was:

Car: 40383.02 (Invoice was 39,895, so $488 over invoice
    Tax: 2,422.98 (6%)
    Tire Fee $6
    Registration/Title Fee (4 yrs) 319
    Documentation Fee $198
    Out The Door-$43,329

I was very impressed with how everything went, we were in and out in around an hour. The next 6-8 week wait should be tough! :)

From looking at quotes from all over, I think the California market is one of the most competitive. I think you should be able to get between 500-750 over invoice if you shop around enough. Get them to throw in wheel locks too and perhaps something else, as the carpeted floor mats should be included in the car to begin with. I would advise sending a mass e-mail. Find the best quote and see if the dealers in your area can match/beat this price. If there are multiple local dealers, you can get them into a bidding war for your business. Hope this helps.
    Good luck,
    Matt

    Oghowie,

I got that quote from New Century BMW in Alhambra. Pacific was only willing to give me $1,000 over invoice (which incl $330 MACO) I got and initial quote, I counter offered and he came down $190. I just went to SouthBay BMW and they were willing to go $800 over MACO included invoice. I will probably go with them cuz they are nearest my house. It's gonna be May by the time it show up though :(

    Good Luck

Do you have the contact info for the person you were dealing with? New Century is reasonably close to me and if they really are offering that price it will help with my bargaining.

    Thanks alot.
