Three weeks ago you could buy a CRV EX in your choice of colors at Streater-Smith Honda in Conroe for invoice - $21,978. I cannot imagine they would have upped the price since then.

I bought a brand new 2008 Black C-RV EX with leather interior, plus the extra options they throw in like cargo tray, mud guards, etc. OTD for $24,000 in Atlanta, GA. I pick it up tomorrow. They are putting the leather in it today.

I am looking to buy an EX-L with Navi package. I called 2 dealers, they are offering about $500 above invoice price at $27580. Has anyone got a better deal in NJ so far ? any reliable dealers ? I called open road honda and clinton honda.

    thanks
  • lls3lls3 Member Posts: 1
I shopped in NJ for the last 3 weeks, I did buy in Lakewood. I have EXL w/ Nav. awd Your price is not far off if they incl. dest. and don't pay for any of their added extras(mud guards, wheel locks etc.) tell them to take them off if you have to. Sounds like you are North Jersey from the dealers you called, I did visit DCH of Old Bridge, they offered the highest trade in value, but didn't want to budge past 27,200 plus fees, tax and all the goodies. My best experience, was with Lakewood, very relaxed, great sales staff. Good Luck!
  • heyw00dheyw00d Member Posts: 10
Thanks for info. How much did you pay at Lakewood dealer ? can you provide breakdown please (Docs, DMV etc) ?

2 dealers are saying $600+ in docs/DMV - which seems way high.
also some are reluctant to disclose those in emails or phone.

I will visit DCH this weekend and see if get closer to invoice price.

    thanks

Bought at DCH in Paramus. $27100 w/ destination fee. $269 DMV fees and $199 Doc prep etc. Dealt w/Internet sales department.

Thinking about buying a 08 CR-V EX-L AWD Navi, how much should we pay?? MSRP is $29,070 and invoice $27,068.

What prices are most people getting on this one??
  • lnelson33lnelson33 Member Posts: 1
    Hello,
What dealership did you get that price from? I am looking for similar in VA and getting 27,949 OTD price with spoiler, door and splash guards. Anyone else in VA got pricing? Thanks
  • heyw00dheyw00d Member Posts: 10
I bought one today - EX-L AWD Navi (Green Tea) for 27118 ($50 above invoice) from clinton Honda (NJ) dealer. I recommend this dealer, deal went very smoothly, I got all the numbers before hand via email/phone. No surprises during sign up process. Once thing to watch out, they tried to sell me Honda's extended warranty and other goodies (etching etc) which I declined.

    Here is the breakdown...
    Price - $27118 (incl destination)
    DMV - $25.50 (I transffered old registration and plates - saved $225)
    Tire fee - $7.50
    Docs - $197
    Tax - 7% NJ Tax

Few pointers, get the quotes (price+ other charges) via email from 5-6 dealers and
compare carefully. Some of them have higer docs/DMV chages. Some of them are reluctant to disclose those charges.
  • heyw00dheyw00d Member Posts: 10
I bought one today for $27118 ($50 over invoice) in NJ. There are not that many Cars with Navi (thats what I heard) so some dealers are asking $500 more than invoice. But if you call 5-6 dealers and make them compete against each other, u may be able to get at invoice or even lower.
  • crvruffcrvruff Member Posts: 2
I was at DCH Paramus and they had a lot of cars with Navi. In fact, they were trying to push one with Navi on me though I wasn't really interested in getting a car with that.

I would like to know how much everyone is paying for CRV LX or EX in Bay Area, CA.
    Received prices from one dealership:

CR-V LX 2WD - $19498 (This price includes the destination fee)
    CR-V EX 2WD - $21788 (OTD $23887.80)

Should I start "the Internet pricing strategy" now or wait until July 4th or end of July?
    Thanks.
  • dreamchaser321dreamchaser321 Member Posts: 24
Please let us know how it'll work out for you. I've heard that there will be some rattles from the doors after the install the leather on the door panels (hopefully they'll reseal it for you).
  • dreamchaser321dreamchaser321 Member Posts: 24
Try to get them to lower the cost of the CR-V EX 2WD to $23000 out the door including everything....23887.80 is kind of high considering it's a 2WD.
  • hesaidhesaid Member Posts: 16
igrek2000, in regards to the EX - the invoice price should be about $22000 including destination (or $21330 + destination) so it's a real good price if it includes destination and a not so great price if it doesn't include destination. If it does not include destination I'd try to get them to go down to $22150 and maybe get them to throw in a couple extras (door edge guards, trunk tray, whatever). But either way - you are in a decent ballpark - you certainly would not be getting gouged like some people that don't know about Edmunds would.

For The 2008 Honda CRV LX 4WD Automatic the dealer is quoting $22,600 OTD.. is this a good price at the moment?
  • troymasterstroymasters Member Posts: 8
I think $22,600 is a fair price. My OTD price was close to MSRP including D & H charges.

    MSRP Price: $22,570 (2008 Honda CR-V LX All-wheel Drive)

could you tell me the dealership name? thanks
  • berlyberly Member Posts: 1
What are these going for in the midwest? Is $25700 a fair price?
Would get $2200 for a trade in on a '00 Interepid with 125000 miles.
In the end, would trade for $23500. Is this a good deal?
  • troymasterstroymasters Member Posts: 8
WOW...$25700 out the door is a great price!. I got mines....2008 Honda CR-V 4WD EX-L Glacier Blue for $27,365 OTD. With the gas prices so HIGH, CRVs should continue to drop in price. :shades:

    Hi All,

Just want to tell everyone that I will be buying my 2nd 2008 CRV EX AWD balck/black at Sports Honda since my first 2008 CRV got totalled in a major car accident. No one can beat Sports Honda's price. I have the receipt to prove the OTD price. Sorry can't tell anyone here my OTD price because Sports Honda may not make any money. To all people in Washinton DC metro Area, please do not waste your time at Herson's Honda, College Park Honda, and Jim Coleman of Clarksville, MD.

Criswell Honda is the 2nd best because they have the 2nd OTD lowest price. Sports and Criswell Honda are willing to lower their price - below invoice because:

    - WE ARE IN RECESSION
    - GAS PRICES ARE HIGH
    - SUVs are not selling well.

Dealers shoud be aggressive in lowering their prices. Keep patience and do a lot of research like reading forums of what people paid for their CRV.
    Good Luck and God Bless.

Consider writing a report in Dealer Ratings and Reviews.

Listing the "out the door" price confuses things because different states and areas within states have different taxes, doc fees, etc., which makes pricing very difficult to compare. Please be more specific about the purchase, especially the base vehicle price achieved and options/accessories, as well as doc fees, which are often another profit item for the dealer. Also, please note whether there was trade-in involved. A trade-in makes it almost impossible to compare pricing.

Just got a price quote from one dealer in New Jersey

EX model, plus leather chair and doc fee , total $24100,

Can anyone advise if it's a good price
  • raffpee1raffpee1 Member Posts: 9
    Tidester,

I will write a report in Dealer Rating and Reviews after my 2nd purchase at Sports Honda of Silver Spring, MD. This coming week, I will get a check from my insurance for the totalled 2008 CR-V EX AWD. Just want to get my loan paid off before I get another one.

    Thanks.

Troymasters - with gas going UP, the these 4 cylander cars should go UP in value and therefore cost more.
  • oceanexprtoceanexprt Member Posts: 16
got it over the weekend for $24500 plus tax and lic.
    bay area california. yipeeeeeeeeeeeee
  • yuxuanyangyuxuanyang Member Posts: 7
    Hi Oceanexprt,

Does your car have leather seats?
  • oceanexprtoceanexprt Member Posts: 16
EX -L ( the "L" stands for leather).
i'm not sure if it was a fourth of july special or what, but who cares, right???
  • yuxuanyangyuxuanyang Member Posts: 7
    Hi Mitchellboy,

My quote from them is 24100, plus tax. Is your $24000 tax included?
  • mquillenmquillen Member Posts: 71
    oceanexprt,
Dealer net/net on an 2008 CR-V EX-L AWD is $24,690, why would they sell a popular vehicle below cost? And California has a doc fee limited to $50, so they didn't make much there. Were there any other fees or charges other than typical tax and title? I'm beginning to wonder if Honda has an as yet unannounced dealer incentive to move 2008's.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
"Why would they sell a popular vehicle below cost"

Makes no sense to me whatever.

    No incentives either.
  • oceanexprtoceanexprt Member Posts: 16
no idea, but it was the salesperson's first day on the job. they told me that and the fact that it was the fourth of july, that's the only reason they sold it for $24500.

less than $27000 out the door. san francisco tax is 8.5%. and you guys know how high the dmv is here, right?

we walked out of the dealership when they first balked at $24500. we were half way down the block when they chased us down and said uncle.

i doubt that going through the internet manager would have gotten us $24500.

my suggestion is to go inside and state your price and be prepared to walk out.
  • troymasterstroymasters Member Posts: 8
GeorgeBake: I was just reiterating what the salesman said to me about high gas prices and the CR-V is a car that you can get a good deal on vs. trying to purchase a hybrid. I got mines (CR-V 4WD EX-L) for $24,800 + TTL in CA.
  • troymasterstroymasters Member Posts: 8
OceanExprt: Which dealership did you go to in the Bay Area? I went to Larry Hopkins in Sunnyvale.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
If you really bought a 4WD EXL CRV for 24,500, that dealer lost over 400.00 on that transaction and that includes giving up all of his holdback.

These are VERY popular cars and there are no incentives in place.

Did you have a trade in?

To the others...if you walk in and make an offer like that you had better be prepared to walk out because you surely will!
  • 4runshoper4runshoper Member Posts: 13
On Long Island, NY, you will probably go for $26,000 ish for this vehicle unless you have compromising photos of the salesman and his manager...
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
    "compromising photos"

    Maybe that was it? :confuse:

    Igrek and others,
Please be more specific about dealer location so everyone understands the region we're talking about. I assume this is the Livermore, California Honda dealer you're referring to. $105 over dealer cost. Please note, this is not a verified sale, some Internet Sales People will do anything to get you in the door.

paid 24835 before tag title and tax in dallas texas.......felt fine about it. Bankston was fabulous after jetting from dealer to dealer inclulding John Eagle, Lute Riley, also Freeman gave my mom and stepfather a great deal too on a civic and another crv.

We paid $25,331 for a 2008 CR-V EX-L AWD on May 9, 2008 including shipping and a full tank of gas! That's roughly $250 dollars below dealer invoice, at least by the numbers shown in the Consumer Reports Price Service. We self financed so the dealer didn't get any kick backs from a lender! There was no trade-in involved! My son now has 3,700 miles and loves the car! We live at 4,000 feet above sea level in southern NM and drove to Cloudcroft, which is at over 9,000 ft, and on that 200 mile round trip excursion showed an average of 28.5 mpg. Interestingly, the instant mpg indicator tops out at 150 mpg when going down a long steep hill. We really loved the fact that the "grade logic" automatic transmission would automatically down shift on the steep descending parts of the return trip, saving using the brakes. :)

    hi, Mitchellboy

That's great price. Do you mind sharing the dealer's name with me?
    thank you :)

I am looking for one in central NJ. what is the tags for this car? I know tax is 7%, while registration is for 4 yrs, on NJ DMV website, it claimed that for cars over 3500lbs the registration fee is $84/yr.I checked Honda website listed crv lx 4wd as 3501lbs :( while the dealer give me quote on registration fee is $254 total. Also title fee (no lien) is $20 so t/t should be 7% tax (sale price including destination charge)+$20 title fee+ $254/or$336. Is that right?
  • quinticquintic Member Posts: 4
I have seen some of the CRV has destination charge 635. Does that mean these cars have been there for a while?
  • mplshondadlrmplshondadlr Member Posts: 409
Honda changed the destination charge for all cars shipped after 06/15 (?).
  • quinticquintic Member Posts: 4
So, if you see a couple of CRV with destination fee $635, Does that mean the sales is not very good?
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
Does that mean the sales is not very good?

I think you're reading too much into it. Destination charges up because of higher shipping costs and SUV sales are generally down because of lower demand. Both are the result of higher fuel prices but destination charges and sales volume are fairly independent of each other..
